Pink Bean Bulletin - Greetings, Maplers!
Hi Maplers,

Thank you for your patience and we apologize for the delay in updating our Communication Improvement plans. While it may have seemed as if no changes were being done, our internal teams were bustling to come up with ideas and discuss ways to improve our communication with you!

In our April 6 Maple Memo, we mentioned that we will brainstorm better ways to comment and explain changes that players need to be aware of, other than the Maple Memo posts, to improve our communication with you. Considering how Maple Memos often introduce notable game changes from our Producers, there was difficulty in posting as frequently as we’d like since they require information about upcoming plans and a thorough review on the accuracy of the details. We deemed there was a need for other ways to provide updates, especially with community-focused information. To better communicate with you in addition to the Maple Memo, we would like to introduce you to the Pink Bean Bulletin!

Pink Bean Bulletin will be a new communication webpost that will mainly focus on covering community-focused topics such as ban wave concerns, inconvenient bugs, or relevant event feedback. An exciting part of this post is that we hope to hand over the pen from time to time to other Nexon employees that you may not be as familiar with. The author of this post will not be limited to our Production team but can also include Nexon employees from other teams that are fit to explain the issue and/or concern. Thus, it may be more casually written than our usual news posts but that’s how we’d like it! We have different teams collaboratively working together for MapleStory and you might get a glimpse of more of us through the Pink Bean Bulletin.

Now that we’ve introduced this new webpost with you, we’ll be sharing relevant community topics through Pink Bean Bulletins as they are needed. Until then, enjoy our upcoming v.225 Goo Island Getaway update coming soon this Wednesday, August 25th!

Update on Elite Mob Drop Change Investigation
Hi Maplers,

As briefly announced on our Community platforms, we are aware of the player concerns regarding the Elite mob drop changes after the v.224 update maintenance. We investigated the Cube and Rebirth Flame drop rates with high priority and confirmed that there was an error in the Elite mob drop rate logic that did not align with our development goals of improving the accessibility of these items.

After we discovered the error, we planned to conduct an in-depth review to determine the proper changes that would both provide an improved experience to players and meet our development goals. However, such a review requires additional time for us to thoroughly calculate the drop rate after reviewing players' levels and the number of Elite mobs that players defeated. As this delay would lengthen the time our players experience the inconvenience, we have decided to roll back the following parts of the v.224 Better Maple update:

  • "Elite Monsters and Elite Champions now have a chance to drop cubes and flames when defeated"
  • "The following items have been removed from the respective content (Ex. Elite Monster and Elite Champion's Golden Hammer 50%)"

We will revert the changes to how they used to be in the v.223 update while we continue to conduct an in-depth review of how to improve this experience in the future. The stated rollback is planned to be done during our August 5 unscheduled maintenance.

We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience you may have experienced due to this error and, as a token of our apology, we will be giving the following items once per account to players that have a character Lv. 101 and above and a login record between July 21 (after maintenance) and August 5 (before maintenance):

  • 2x EXP Coupon (15 min) (x10): Untradeable, 7-day duration.
  • 2x Drop Coupon (15 min) (x10): Untradeable, 7-day duration.
  • Powerful Rebirth Flame (x10): Untradeable, 7-day duration.
  • Eternal Rebirth Flame (x5): Untradeable, 7-day duration.
  • Master Craftsman’s Cube (x30): Untradeable, 7-day duration.
  • Meister Cube (x15): Untradeable, 7-day duration.

Please claim the above items via Gift Drop on the left side of the screen after the August 5 maintenance until August 18 at 11:59 PM UTC. Once our in-depth review has been completed, we’ll provide an update about our next planned actions to improve the accessibility of Cubes and Rebirth Flames as an intended Better Maple Change. Again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and delay.
