MEMORIES OF MARS - Season 2 Info Teasers

Dear Memories of Mars community,

On the coming weeks you will keeping seeing our hotfix patches coming to enhance the game experience. You will also receive free skins and patterns to thank you for joining us on this Early Access program and for providing valuable feedback to us since launch. Again, thank you so much for helping us during our EA launch!

But since Season 2 is around the corner we also want to share information and WIP images and concepts on some of the items you can expect to find in Season 2:

We will have three options of servers available in Season 2:

• Official PVP servers. On them you can play with the current MoM ruleset.
• Official PVE servers with PVP events. No base raiding or PVP damage EXCEPT on selected areas and times. Players will be able to decide weather they want to engage in combat or not. More details coming soon.
• Private servers. A third company will host servers for those of you who want to experience the game solo or with a restricted group of friends. Options on the ruleset will be given. More info coming soon.

New weapon and weapon module:

• An amazing XB–220 CRUSADER crossbow will be available on Season 2! Silent and powerful it allows the skilled players to enjoy combat on a new and different way.

• Also, Suppressors and Heavy Barrels will offer new playstyle options for previous weapons, silencing your shots or decreasing the recoil of your rifles.

• Vehicles.

Season 2 will bring the possibility to build E-RAZOR class vehicles. A Modular based car fully customizable to explore and transport valuable resources.

A hot commodity in the unforgiving Mars experience!

Female Clones:

Yes, we were already working on it and here they are. More options for you.

2 new player devices:

• Spotlights. As you know light management is very important on the dark and dangerous Martian nights. Now you can place spotlights around your base to make sure there are no threats waiting for you but… it will make your base more visible too. Up to you!

• Algae farm. Mother says “Eat your veggies”! This new station allows to transform nitrates into biomass and manage the fluctuations on available food. Finally, you can grow your own algae biomass instead of the old biomass that came from… from… Well you know where it came from.
Can this be the first step for a Hydroponics tech line? Time will tell.

New points of interest:

New locations will be available through the map for you to explore and gather resources. Have you checked the full map? Have you found biodomes, mining sites, residential areas, industrial facilities and Leisure areas? Laboratories and those towers you, mistakenly, call nuclear reactors? Illegal cloning and robot faci.. ehr… never mind. Keep reading.

Skill tree:

The skill tree will grow to show your new choices, reflecting the addition of new items, vehicles and devices.

These are some of the new additions you can expect on Season 2 of our Early Access. There will be more content coming and there is a great amount of “invisible work” you will be experiencing as we are tweaking areas such as game balance, player progression, base building, loot distribution, etc. based on player behavior and feedback.

Feel free to leave your questions and suggestions here so we can provide more info in the coming weeks. And, as usual, head to discord for direct interaction with Devs and mingle with the Martian community --> https://discord.gg/7c6rvnv

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #18 - Deployed

Dear Martians,

We just deployed a small patch fix today. The patch fixes the following and it's already live:

• No-building-volumes that came in recently are removed again. This allows players to build again on their base.
• Maintenance and server restart messages should be better worded and more visible
• Small cave where a player was stuck should be fixed

Regards,

The Limbic Dev Team

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #16 + #17

Dear Martians,

It's Thursday which means, more patches aka more improvements. We also wanted to address some quick issues yesterday such as the AI enemies not spawning so here is the list of all the changes that happened yesterday the 27th of June and today the 28th.

Hotfix #16 (deployed yesterday, the 27th of June)

• Fix for the not-respawning AIs
• Fix for a client crash related to destroyable windows.
• Various level design and art fixes.

Hotfix #17 (deployed today - Thursday the 28th of June)

• Weapon modifications: Fix for the button to Remove All modules from a weapon
• Fix for oxygen refill stations - previously did not check the learned skills which could lead to losing small amounts of oxygen instead of gaining
• Fixes for the icons of recently added Blueprints
• Continuing improvements to hit registration (fixed an issue where dead enemies blocked projectiles on the server)
• Level fixes, including an oxygen station buried underneath the landscape

Regards,

The Limbic Dev Team.

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #15

Dear Martians,

It’s patch time aka improvement time! In this patch we have addressed the following:

• Fixed exploit with possible Weapon modification duplication.
• HESH Grenade damage adjusted to apply correct damage types.

Dev note. Let us know how you feel about this balance change to base raiding.

Fixes for server crashes:

• Information for building parts and devices now show correct HP and not a percentage value.
• The bug causing players to be trapped in the cloning facility has been fixed.
• Updated skill tree - Tier 3 building parts have been added to the build menu (schematics coming soon)

Various level and art fixes

• Ammo displays have been polished
• HP values have been fixed for some devices
• Servers are assigned static IPs. We have checked that all EU servers have IP addresses that are (to our best knowledge) not affected by IP bans.

As always feel free to drop some feedback in the mars-feedback channel or on a steam review. Your feedback drives the improvement of MoM.

Regards,

The Limbic Dev Team

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #13 + #14

Greetings Martians!

Thursday is patch day so without further ado here are some highlights of what you will find in today’s patch, aka HotFix #13:

HotFix #13 changes:

Code:

• Inventory optimizations.
• Fixed potential memory leaks in inventory.
• Special case for the unstuck feature when inside cloning chamber.
• Changes to building upkeep, exposed more details to the UI
• Loosened floor-mounted device build restrictions a bit.
• Collision improvements/fixes when placing building parts:

-Replaced trace check for foundation pillar with overlap check to avoid situations where neither the normal pillar nor the foundation pillar can be placed.
-Fixed obstacle check so that foundations and stairs can no longer be built on deployables and other non-level obstacles.
• Device holograms that have resources invested into them now won't despawn.
• Most building parts are now allowed to overlap terrain.
• Tightened up the spawn locations for supply tracker cards.

Art:

• Updates to deployable explosives.
• Adjusted the collisions of player made building parts so that players cannot look through them anymore.

Level Design:

• Fixed holes.
• Reduced the amount of floating rocks.
• Made previously blocked loot containers accessible.

HotFix #14 changes:

Important note

This patch will have 3 primary changes that will be hot fixed early tomorrow morning, or late this evening, depending on the stability of the hotfix its self. We have decided to do it this way rather than delaying the entire patch until tomorrow as the other fixes provide a net positive to the game.

Primary change #1: Increase AI spawns. For the next 24 hours AI spawn rates will be set higher than before. Be careful when going alone to hotspots. We advise players to take a slower and steady approach. Tomorrow they will be reduced.

Primary change #2: Building player made devices will visually show the blueprint of the device, even when fully built. Devices are still fully usable and it’s possible that once you start to craft the texture will be normal again.

Primary change #3: Using Unstuck to glitch inside player bases. We’re aware of this clever use of game mechanic and have changed how unstuck works so this will no longer be possible.

The Limbic Dev Team

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #12 + further updates

Good morning Martians!

As most of you are aware, patch 10 last Thursday brought with it a rather unfortunate FPS drop that was otherwise non reproducible on our internal test servers. To that end, we rolled back to a previous version and the game became stable again. But of course, we missed some of our juicy updates!

For those of you who missed our patching policy after this event happened we will repeat: Up until the point that patch 10 essentially failed we had produced 9 patches and 3 hotfixes, all working as they should. This patch rate was far too quick and inevitably we had one that bit us. We will now be much more methodical in our patching approach. We aim to Patch on Tuesdays and Thursdays, every week for the foreseeable future (subject to change of course). This does not include any emergencies that might pop up that require immediate attention.

After all that, I’m happy to say that patch 12 is scheduled for release, today.

Here’s what to expect:

Game Design (same as previous patch)

• Adjusted T1 pistol damage to be more correctly in-line with our weapon expectations.
• Removed the Misfire Mechanic from Misfire ammo for the time being. As this is the beginning ammunition we wanted to allow for an easier entry to new or solo players.
• Increase shotgun damage across the board for all shotguns.
• Added the ‘Trip’ beam for the Trip mine.
• Adjusted the spawn points for Survey Tracker loot. This means trackers should no longer spawn outside of the map.
Level Design
• Plugged up a bunch of holes in the world.
• Fixed a bunch of stuck location issues.
• Adjusted some terrain to make previously blocked loot boxes available.
• Optimized some Larger LoDs to help reduce load lag when approaching larger hotspots.
Please keep sending your screenshots if you find floating rocks, holes in the world or blocked loot. They get passed onto the Level Design department that day and are normally fixed immediately, ready for the next patch.

Code

• Implemented a fix that should stop small jumps on certain surfaces to cause insane fall damage.
• 3x potential client crashes fixed
• 2x potential server crashes fixed.

Recently we have received a couple of reports from members of our community that there have been player’s in-game who are overly toxic, racist, sexist or just obviously very offensive. We are gamers ourselves. We all know the line of where banter, or even just BMing to create drama becomes too much. For us, this is a zero tolerance issue. All cases will be individually assessed.

Going forward I would just like to assure all players that we take each and every report seriously and follow a strict process. You can help us currently by PMing me directly with Screenshots, Video or a name and server number so I can then further investigate. People will be banned from anywhere to 1 day, 1 week all the way to permanent depending on the offense.

We are looking to implement an automated feature to report players in the near future.

Regards,

The Limbic Dev Team

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #11 + Update regarding the hotfixes

Evening (for us at least) Martians,

As most of you are aware, Hotfix 10 yesterday brought with it a really annoying FPS spike. This was never (and has still not) been reproduced internally so it was something entirely unexpected. Moving forward we will be far more methodical in our patching process to ensure that this doesn't happen again.

To that end, today we will be pushing just a small patch. We will remain with our Patch 9 changes, meaning everything you see in my recent patch notes from yesterday is not in this new build. These changes will be coming early next week, lag free.

With todays patch (Hotfix #11) we have increased Daily server maintenance from once every 24 hours, to twice every 24 hours. You will find your regions server timings on the main menu (once patch is downloaded).

This is all today's patch will bring, though this small change should actually see a pretty decent boost in server performance. Scheduled maintenance takes no longer than 5 minutes to restart so should not effect your gaming sessions.

Next week we will update everyone on our current fix hit list, patch of course, have a back and forth regarding balance and maybe provide some more information on things you can expect to see in future seasons.

Have a good weekend.

The Limbic Dev Team.
