MEMORIES OF MARS - Vehicles in Season 2

Fellow Martians,

As part of our Early Access journey, Season 2 will offer the possibility of test driving the first Martian vehicle prototypes.

On selected servers (stay tuned for more info) there will be a selection of already built vehicles for Martians to test drive and provide valuable feedback. Currently the maximum number of these vehicles will be eight (8) and there going to be of one type, a buggy vehicle.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1453578647

Servers which will feature the vehicles will restart twice a day and with each restart the vehicles will go back to their original position.

Changes, tweaks and enhancements will be rolled on regular basis until full implementation.

Like stated above, more info about the vehicles will follow :)

Kind Regards,

The Limbic Dev Team

MEMORIES OF MARS - All about Season 2

Dear Martians,

It has been almost two months since the launch of Memories of Mars. Mother has been hard at work fixing issues, squashing bugs, and adding in new features. (Details here --> https://steamcommunity.com/app/644290/discussions/3/1696049513769673771/ )

We know that our launch into Early Access came with hurdles and we are happy to say all of the critical issues have been resolved and season two will add in new features and mechanics to support more versatile playstyles than what was possible in season one.

Many of the key improvements were suggested and guided by our awesome Martian community. You all have done a great job at spotting issues that affect the player and providing quality recommendations to fuel our discussions and priorities. The result of the community and the team’s efforts we have a great list of significant improvements as well as some cool stuff for season two.

Improvements since launch:

Overall performance and stability: One of the bigger issues we faced on launch was server and client stability and performance. While performance is a continuous effort, stability has massively improved. No longer do players have to worry about server crashes or their progress and base being randomly wiped on a server crash or restart.

Overall gunplay: We have improved several aspects of the general gunplay and combat. Hit registration has improved, weapon balancing, misfire ammo has been removed, several animation fixes, scopes work correctly, Infinite sprint has been added, and various behind the scenes tweaks.

Spawn killing mitigation: Another improvement which was based on the feedback of the community was the spawn killing of players. We have improved this by changing the default items a clone is spawned with as well as adding spawn protection to give new players a bit of time to move away from an area that a spawn camper may be.

Base building: has been improved by allowing players to have more freedom with how and where they build. Structures now interact with the terrain much better. The cost of maintaining a structure has been and continues to be tweaked. Also several new customization options have been added.

Loot distribution: On launch a common comment from the community was that loot was inconsistent and certain items would be super common and other items were never found and that this changed from day to day. We have since improved this and for the most part we feel that the distribution of loot is at a good balance between common and rare items.

Player movement: No more crazy legs! We have fixed a ton of animation and as said you can now sprint forever. There have also been adjustments to vaulting and generally moving around mars i.e through doors, issues with slightly clipping through player bases.

Raiding and raiding defenses: Base raiding from Day 1 to now is night and day. Previously certain devices couldn’t be destroyed. Incorrect damage modifiers were being applied when using grenades and the maintenance terminal interface was confusing. All of this has now been rectified and we will continue to expand the raiding possibilities.

Scuttler distribution and spawn rates: There isn’t too many and there aren’t too few.

Season 2 features:

We have a lot planned for season 2 and as was the case in season one there are bound to be some strange bugs and issues, with the help of the community, any issues we missed internally will be resolved as fast as possible.

Prototype Vehicle: Vehicles have been a big request and something that players are excited to try. We will be testing our 1st prototype vehicle on separate test servers. The vehicle is very early so we don’t want to worry about the possibility of the vehicle affecting players’ progression or gameplay, in case it causes server problems. The vehicles will be available to test drive on our public test realm (PTR) and will respawn every server restart, in the same locations, in case someone loses one.

Private servers: This has been requested more than anything from the community. We are happy to share the 1st iteration of private servers. There may be some wonky issues but they will be improved as we move forward. Players will be able to play how they want and are given the freedom to host a dedicated server on their own machine (given they have a beast machine), they can also rent a server from any of their favorite server hosting providers. Lastly, players can rent a server from our official partner which will be the easiest way to have a private server setup and running smooth as biomass.

Official PvP and PvE servers: Since launch we received a large number of comments and reviews mentioning the desire to build, craft, and explore with friends without the worry of being killed by a player or being raided. We have taken this feedback into consideration and are starting PvE servers. Our PvE servers also allow for PvP action that is completely optional. The FLOP events will be surrounded by a PvP zone which allows for player damage. Once a player leaves this area they will be vulnerable for a short amount of time. Any other area players will not be able to kill players or deal damage to bases.

Additional weapons and devices: We will also have more things for the clones to unlock and aid them with their survival including: stealth weapons, the crossbow and a suppressor for pistols. An algae farm will be the first steps for clones to be self-sufficient for food. Spotlights will provide more light for your base.

Hidden Lore: as requested by the community we will add more lore to explain some of the backstory. The first iteration will be environmental. Make sure to keep an eye on different monitors, posters and more to start uncovering the story of Mars.

More customization options: More patterns will be available in our new individualizer device where players can spend FLOPS for style. Now you can decide to be a female clone upon a new spawn. Player lights inside your player base can now also be customized. This is just a small step towards us adding more ‘fluff’ elements to player base building.

Additional locations: Several new locations have been added, no spoilers here so you will have to go find them yourself.

Female clone: As stated you can now pick your gender upon spawn. Who says a planet full of clones can’t have diversity.

We look forward to seeing you for Season 2 and hearing more feedback and suggestions on how to improve and provide some great Memories of Mars J (pun very much intended).

MEMORIES OF MARS - The Emergency Capsule!

Martian Survivors, the end is near!

Remember to craft your emergency capsules and store your valuable items.

Carry over into Season 2 can only be done through the emergency capsules. In Season 2 of #memoriesofmars you will be able to track these emergency capsules down, dig them up and collect your items.

In case you are wondering: you need to unlock the skill on the survival skill tree to be able to build the capsule in your base.

What are you going to be storing Martians? Let us know below :)

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #24 is live again!

Dear Martians,

Hotfix #24 is live again! We had some problems with this Hotfix last week so we reverted back to Hotfix #23 but now#24 is back up again.

You can read about Hotfix #24 here:

https://steamcommunity.com/games/644290/announcements/detail/1674661221670167340

What we also added and worth mentioning here again is the addition of the "Individualizer", a new crafting station which delivers skins on a weekly basis. Details here:

MEMORIES OF MARS - No Patch Today

Howdy Martians! As a lot of you steely eyed clones would have noticed, yesterday we reverted our patch. Today we will **not** patch, but for all the right reasons.

In theory we have a patch ready to go right now, in practice we would rather wait 2-3 more days. We have some extra content and fixes that are very nearly complete. These wouldn’t make an immediate patch today, but these fixes have nice benefits for Season 1. We would rather end Season 1 with a really nice end, containing some meatier fixes, etc. early next week. To that end, that is what we’ll do.

For those clones not playing as actively during the last couple of weeks of the season, but are keeping up to date with changes, this might be a good time to jump back in. With the release of the Individualizer Machine, Mother has uploaded a unique Season 1 pattern that will be available next week. This pattern will be exclusive to Season 1, will be bound to your account, will carry across seasons and will show that you were there in the beginning!

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1446088069
Next week we will patch only once. This is to allow the team better focus towards our Season 2 patch with a lot of new features, content and balancing. Some of which you would have seen teased, if you follow the official Twitter. ;)

We will also be providing more information for the start of Season 2, like the timing of the patch, what is new and what we’re working on for future patches and the season it will be shared.

We wish you all a fun weekend on Mars and look forward to seeing you in-game.

Regards,

The Limbic Dev team.

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #24 - Deployed

9am PT update:

There were some complications with this patch and we reverted back to previous patch (23). We're investigating and fixing the issues discovered and we will keep you updated! Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Howdy Martians, a small hotfix for today with some fixes. The patch should go live in about 15 minutes .

Changelog for todays hotfix:

• Fixed getting stuck in StasisChamber (Unstuck works in Stasis Chamber now!)
• Fixed getting stuck in doors
• Fix for random Client Crash
• A lot of server optimizations
• Fix for not showing updated talent tree after learning a blueprint
• More fixes for blueprint learning
• Potential fix for players falling through the world after spawn
• Changed the way FOV is handled. We are now using Vertical FOV instead of Horizontal FOV, which means that the game should look fine without changes to the FOV setting even on the widest of ultrawide monitors. We also adjusted the way wieldables like weapons and tools are rendered on the screen, as well as their aiming fov behavior. We are now using a fixed FOV for those, which means that changing FOV before aming can't be used for exploitation anymore. All of these changes unfortunately mean that we have to reset the FOV settings. If you feel the new default settings do not work for you, you can change the FOV like usual in the Video Setting screen. We display the Horizontal FOV for your aspect ratio in a text box, so you can compare to your previous settings.
• Individualizer added to the game – Make sure you check out what patterns are available. There is 1 you definitely won’t want to miss!

As always, be sure to let us know if anything is acting strange or if you find any bugs and you can post them here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/644290/discussions/3/

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #23 - Deployed

Happy Tuesday everyone! A smaller Hotfix today, with the plan to introduce some new content and larger fixes on Thursday.

Things you can expect in today’s hotfix/patch.

• Fixed players spawning into the cloning facility randomly and falling through the world.
• Added additional debug tools to the back end to help provide better logs for bugs in the future.
• Various fixes to broken collision, gaps in the terrain, objects that can’t be picked up.
• Various under the hood optimizations for the server.

We are roughly 2 weeks away from Season 2, therefore patches will be slightly lighter for the next 2 weeks, compared to the previous weeks of patching. We will still maintain our 2 patches a week schedule. The only time this might be pushed back is our final week before Season 2. This will allow us to focus on testing and season 2 preparation.

Things we will aim for have in for Thursday (as long as it passes the testing process) are as follows;
• Players being stuck inside player made doors and being unable to use the Unstuck feature.
• Individualizer device in-game.
• Changes to how FoVs are handled. We will move from a horizontal FoV system to a Vertical FoV system. Generally everyone with traditional computer monitor set ups will be fine with the default settings.

We have also created a fixed FoV when aiming a weapon, with or without sights. This prevents players from gaining double zoom distance. A side benefit of this change will also make weapons visually look better as they have fixed position.

Regards,

The Limbic Dev team

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #22 - Deployed

Morning all. Hotfix 22 went live around 1200 CEST. Just a small one today, but will still require a Client side download.

Here's what we can expect to see;
• Various Level design fixes to floating rocks, unobtainable pick up items, poor mountain side collisions.
• AI (Scuttler) will no longer open Player made doors. This change comes directly from the community. Look to see them opening doors in later seasons when we tighten up the design of the idea. –
• Various under the hood fixes for performance.

There is a chance we will also see a Hotfix later today (this is TBC however) which will cover an issue reported by one of our community members GizmoXXL. More info will come if the hotfix is pushed today.

Here are some things we can expect to see in next week’s patches.
• Patch notes will now be shown in-game.
• Countermeasures in place to stop players spawning in the cloning facility and then falling through the world.
• Characters being locked into a sprint animation whilst equipping the Helmet for the first time in the Cloning facility.
• Players being stuck inside player made doors and being unable to use the unstuck feature.
• Tweak to upkeep rules and maintenance costs.
• Individualizer device in-game.

I can also say we're currently working on a large resource location, weapon damage and armor damage reduction rates balance pass for Season 2.
The fix for the delay when drawing 2 handed weapons is well underway and good progress is being made in this area.

As always general balance for things is addressed on a Bi-weekly basis (to give previous changes enough time to have data collected on them) and is something we will always maintain when tweaks are required/requested by the majority of the community.

As always, be sure to let us know if anything is acting strange or if you find any bugs and you can post them here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/644290/discussions/3/

MEMORIES OF MARS - Hotfix #21 - Deployed

Good day Martians!

Hotfix 21 is up on us and I’m pleased to say we fixed one of our big hitters, among several other fixes, polish and tweaks.

Here’s today’s patch notes:

• Buildings are now replicated before players. This prevents players from engaging with others who have not yet loaded player base walls from a distance.
***Dev note. We will monitor Discord heavily in-case of any server performance issues arise with this change. Should they happen, it is possible for us to change the parameters of this fix by bringing down the servers (max 15min turn around). This will not revert the patch. This will allow us to find the right balance for performance.
• External sounds leaking into the cloning facility.
• Tweaked the shooting sound effects so players will be able to hear others shooting in more situations.
• Reduced the sound of the Scrap grinder device.
• Switching between primary throw and secondary throw for whilst cooking a grenade will now show the correct transition animation.
• Fix for players potentially getting stuck in Aim mode when using a scope or binoculars.
• Loot-able containers inventories will now closed automatically when empty.
• Correct task bar icon will show when the game is running.
• Corrected the texture for the time capsule.
• Multiple floating rocks, mountain side collisions and various stuck locations fixed.
• Inventory hotkeys now work in two ways. Either press the key once to the item you have highlighted and it will carry out the function. Keep the key pressed and left click to apply the intended effect on the item.

As always, be sure to let us know if anything is acting strange or if you find any bugs and you can post them here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/644290/discussions/3/
