Small patch for the Spring Release!

Just wanted to push out some small changes after the big push! A big thank you to the people who tested and noticed them!

Debug Chan's combo menu changed. It's BOTH Changing Companions buttons + Dash to open her menu.

Bug - Tabs will fire his bullets now
Bug - Getting to Valuna is easier, since Pax will move on screen, now
Bug - Gilbert's layering sprite bug was fixed

Optimization - More items are in the object pool

QoL - Some NPCs will flip when you pass by them.
QoL - Companions, when out, flip on their own, not when you turn. Makes them feel more 'alive'

Content - Valuna has a loading screen now
Content - Scylla has an FMV sequence when she's in your room
Content - Baby Jellycats got a ton more cute! They really like Tabris.

Next - Lava level polish!

Major Springtime Update!

I really need to stop holding back on releases.

The game is in early access mode. Level 1 and 2 are great examples of the bar that I'll be hitting. Level 3 and 4 are still rough, but laid out. Level 5 is still trash.

BUT! You can beat the game, start to finish. Is it fun? NOPE, but you might have fun doing it. Playing early builds and seeing how things change are always fun. :D

Anyway, here is the formal list....


  • Title has a voice over clip for the game!
  • New trailer plays on the title screen
  • First Tabs NPC encounter is now forced
  • Companions help out in combat, starting at level 3 (lava level)
  • They’ll knock off enemies that grab you
  • Lava level was completely redone
  • New loading screens for lava level
  • Issac boss fight was heavily polished
  • Valuna was completely redone
  • Charge jump was re-worked
  • Game Over screen handles Tabris as active companion
  • YOU CAN NOW PET ALMA
  • Leto can now emote in cutscenes - scared, for example
  • Huge memory performance changes - all bullets, explosions, and pickups are in the object pool
  • Multiple cutscenes and dialog updated
  • Dozens of small bug and dialog fixes
  • Bug Fix - Enemies spawn when you get a Game Over
  • Bug Fix - Game Over Screen and moving under the screen
  • Bug Fix - Layering the Pause menu over dialog

MAJOR Fall Update, 2021!

We've been busy for 5 months - and we have a TON to show for it! The new build covers Level 1 and 2, which is about 40 minutes of gameplay. This is the new bar we'll be hitting for the rest of the game.

Leto had a ton of work done to her. She has a new movement. She has a charge shot.
Leto's dash goes low now. Leto's animator was redone, and she has a new set of animations for idle, running, and jumping. Letos gun has a kickback, muzzle flash, and dropped bullet shells on all animations. Leto creates dust when she moves, jumps, and lands. Seriously, we put a ton of work into our girl!

Level 1 was completely redone - new enemies (bats and arc toads) - Dysaur riding was also greatly improved! Grass was added and it moves!

John Mule got new backdrops and artwork - Gilbert has bookshelves and a cat tree, Melody and Kiki have bigger stalls, Leto is now a plant mom, and there are two pictures you can find on the ship! John mule has a cockpit! There is new art EVERYWHERE!

Melody has a new system for gashapons - a way to discover new lore in the game!

Level 2 - Caves were redone as well, with moving mushrooms! Jellycats got animation frames! Boss got another art/code pass, too! Tabris' animations were all redone!

Also - you can no longer get stuck on tail-lures, or the boss!

  • Title screen was touched up
  • Loading Screen has custom art and quips for lore
  • When a level starts, it flashes 'Contract Start!'
  • There is a game over screen now!
  • Changed the buttons around a bit! But, you can remap your keyboard controls! And change your screen resolutions!
  • Dialog UI was touched up, now has a cute Alma prompt for continuing dialog! It also can move around the screen, which will be used in a few cutscenes for comedic effect!
  • Started adding dialog bits to punch up the 'Mercenary' in Mercenary Leto - Tabs mentions he's a merc more, Leto and Pax have dialog to help with that, Kiki mentions 'contracts'
  • Monsters drop health or dust now - new full-health drop!
  • Fixed the FMV flashing bug - where you'd see the level again right before the level would reload
  • Companions will land on the ground if you get into dialog
  • Can skip cutscenes at full speed, even if there is movement in the scripting
  • The FMV for when Tabs/Lily gets introduced was touched up


We'll be starting on Level 3 now - we already have new art assets and a basic level started. Talk again soon!

Hotfix Build Uploaded!

I watched a play through last weekend and noticed a really bad bug that needed to be fixed, so it's been fixed. :)

* ie, the dining room cutscene shows only when it needs to
* Gilbert is back on L1-1, where he should be
* Seedlings stop auto prompting pickup dialog
* Sprite scaling when enemies takes damage looks much better on bigger bosses
* Made Kaiden easier
* Tweaked some room boundaries on various levels
* More varying portraits are used in earlier cutscenes
* Edge and Gibson portraits added
* Added Final Kaiden

Okay - back to Final Kaiden. And the boys need their new armor. Lots to do!

New Quarterly Build - Winter Edition!

It's here! Another few months, another build for y'all to enjoy!

Use Debug Chan to warp to the new stuff immediately. Don't know how to use the debug menu? The Discord link below will help you out! It starts right after the Kaiden fight and takes you to the end of the game. That's right, we're to the end of the story! So exciting!

There are plenty of things that we still need to address, but we'll get there. I hope you enjoy!

* New boss! Plus, Kaiden has sounds now! Woof woof!
* You play as Lily for a short scene!
* World Map now supports riding Zaanlith, a new character! She's the mother dragon you see in the beginning of the game.
* Loads of new art for cutscenes.
* Scylla as a companion has entering sprites
* I sped the font speed up. It feels zippy now!
* Damage font looks a bunch better
* Fixed various bugs, including Issac resetting his animations

Things to do next - Tabs and Issac still need their full armor gear. I have one more boss to start. The last level still needs to be done. Loads of scripting and art. BUT! We're getting there!

The Fall Update! It's finally HERE!

Howdy y'all! Time for another seasonal update of Leto :D

- The big things - use Debug Chan to warp to the new stuff immediately. Don't know how to use the debug menu? The Discord link below will help you out! :D

* The entire level of the aberration ship is done, including the personal quarters of Tabris, Scylla, and Issac! This also includes Scylla as your brand new companion!

* Tons of cutscene work and animations between Valuna and the end of the Kaiden boss fight

* Kaiden's boss fight is both harder and easier at the same time. He gets brutal half way through the fight - have fun trying to keep up with him!

* New fully drawn out pieces of art for Valuna - now with more cute Alma!

* The aberration ship now has music, and Kaiden has a boss theme now!

I'm really excited for all of this because now... it's the home stretch. The push to get to a true beta, as a feature complete game. I'm still aiming for a late 2021 release, but I am aiming for story complete by the end of the year. Very very exciting!

I just lack two more bosses fights and one more level. And a ton of plot and story beats to get there. We're at the end. The cast has come together. The threat is clear, and the stacks are high.

(Then I need to do a ton of bug fixing and polish.... that's what the rest of 2021 is for! c: )

Summer Build - now out!

It's been a few months, hasn't it? Well, let's go down the list...

As always, if you want to get to the new content quickly, just access Debug-Chan with (Return + E). Select the first option and you'll be warped right after completing Valuna, where Issac has arrived and is trying to kidnap Lily....

* There's a ton of new content dealing with Scylla and Issac. Like, a ton. Lily is cute, too. Please excuse the bugs and missing animations - I have a TON of art I need to draw up for these scenes still.

* Kaiden is now a playable boss. He has a complex moveset that I'm just not completely done with, but he'll give you a run for your money. See if you can survive 90 seconds in the room with him!

* If you start before Valuna, there is a new set of slides of Alma being adorable with Leto.

* I redid the health bar UI. It needed to be smaller. This was really obvious to me in the Kaiden fight.

* A ton of audio was tweaked or redone. Now, I do need to turn up the volume on that...again.... :V


Next - I have a ton of animations to draw up. Like Melody knocking Issac out. And fleshing out the Aberration ship before you fight Kaiden.
