We have now transitioned out of Early Access! Thanks everybody for sticking with during our Beta period, we have now gotten through our whole development plan, and version 1.0 is now available, along with the new trailer!

Patch Notes - V0.7

Patch v0.7 is now live, which will be the last patch before the transition to full release on 11/16. In this patch we added the new map, Treetop Terrace!

This map spawns special throwable crystals along with the normal dodgeballs, each having a unique effect. Here's a quick match between devs showcasing the new map:

The 5 Types of Crystals



Ice
Significantly slows your speed.


Confusion
Reverses your movement and aiming controls.


Lightning
Stuns for a medium amount of time.


Concussion
Causes a heavy-hitting explosion.


Bramble
Creates a patch of thorny vines on the floor.



One crystal spawns at a time, the next being tossed out after the current one is thrown. Matches on this map revolve around competition for the crystals.

The crystals in Treetop Terrace are thrown out by the rocky natives, who love a good dodgeball match!




That sums up our new map, I hope you guys have fun with it! We are going to be working on some polish and marketing next, and the transition from early access to full release will happen on 11/16!

Patch Notes - V0.6

Today we are releasing a patch that rounds out the online functionality.


-Added fade to old chat messages, and a sound for new messages.

-Added rank info to GUI; click on your badge to see details




-You can play all maps online now. In ranked matches (Find Opponent) they will be chosen randomly. If either player unchecks the Hazards box in the top right, you will play a hazards-free version of each map.




-In a casual match (Invite Steam Friend / Create Lobby Code), the host will be able to choose any map and adjust settings.

Patch Notes - V0.5

Content

  • added new arena: Cyber City! The special mode on this map is a 'tug of war' sort of scenario, where you push the centerline towards the other player's side. This map is just for local play at the moment, but the next patch (a couple of weeks from now) will allow all maps to be played online, so look forward to that!


Balance

  • Let Max melee his own bubbles to give them velocity
  • changed Zandra's ball damage power from .8 to .5
  • increased Zandra's Whipslash cooldown from 1s to 2s
  • increased Zandra's Cyberslash cooldown from 1s to 2.5s
  • increased Zandra's Whirlwind cooldown from 1s to 2.5s


Zandra had a near-infinite combo in her kit, and was honestly destroying everybody else. Hopefully this makes her a little more reasonable.

Patch Notes - V0.4.1

Minor patch tonight, on account of a couple of bugs I found. Also includes a couple of the updates I've made that aren't related to the new map patch.

  • fixed a bug introduced by the last patch, where a caught ball sometimes couldn't be thrown
  • fixed a bug where polly's fist could teleport you over boundaries
  • added secret freelook mode - hold Back(gamepad) or Backspace(keyboard) while unpausing
  • added small vulnerability window at the end of knockback- about 200ms, or 12 frames (assuming 60fps). This window allows you to hit them before the knockup ends, and before they can react, making knockup a much more useful mechanic.
  • Turrets are now affected by Max's poison


Patch 0.4 - Optimization

Optimization patch just went live! Not a very content-heavy patch, but I'm sure some will appreciate this:

-assets are now being preloaded, and more projectiles like balls are being recycled in memory, so the game should run noticeably smoother on older machines now.
-balls are now seen traveling when stolen by max, and added a little animation when you pick up a ball:





As a side note, we've met our dev timeline for our first few patches, but it looks like our next map won't be polished/ready for release by next week, so that date will be pushed back until we are really happy with the map. I also swapped the dates for updates v0.6 and v0.7, since we realized that would make much more sense. Get excited for the content coming soon!

Patch 0.3 - Juggerbot mode!

Patch daaaaay!

Major Changes:

  • implemented a local multiplayer game mode: Juggerbot mode! Best played as a 4 player FFA timed battle. The player that currently holds the Juggerbot gains ridiculous strength! Team up to kill him!
  • reworked map select screen to include match options
  • added option to toggle off hazards/special modes
  • added option to adjust the number of dodgeballs in a match
  • added random map button
  • took out these match options: infinite power, instant cooldowns, and unsafe boundaries. If you want these back then speak up, but as far as I know, no one uses them. Not very fun game options. If you have a good idea for other options I'd like to hear them.
  • updated textures and lighting on Geode Junction and Mayhem Mechanics
  • made boundary pulse color and wall hit animation color change with current winner


Minor Changes:

  • made character info button a little more obnoxious so that new players notice it
  • made submenus transparent when not active, to make them less confusing
  • changed all on/off options to use checkboxes
  • updated spark particles on dodgebot and the arms in mayhem mechanics


Bug Fixes:

  • fixed fatal error that would occur when you turned off bloom and then changed your window mode
  • fixed issue with submenus being unselected after alt tabbing out
  • made music stop immediately when you alt+f4
  • tutorial text fixes

Patch Notes: v0.2.1

Here's a minor patch for you guys, thanks for the feedback about the Steam offline mode bugs:

-fixed bug where all characters were not selectable when Steam is offline
-made unlocked characters available offline
-fixed the start timer going 2x as fast when you disconnect from a high ping match and get a new match
-fixed bug where your character was deselected when joining an invitational match
-added option in Graphics menu for mouse players to enable the gamepad's laser pointer for aiming
-nerfed Polly's rocket blast knockback a bit
-possibly fixed Dodgebot's issue where he gets stuck trying to pick up a ball when he's full on balls
