Yes, Metal: Hellsinger VR is going to have beat assist and the core UI picker from the base game. It will also include:

The Purgatory DLC and Horde Mode Update are Now Available!

Hellsingers!

Hell’s fires are burning hot today! The Purgatory DLC and Leviathan Update are here to slay.

Our goal with today’s DLC and Update is to give all you legends exactly what you've been telling us you want: MORE original absolute bangers, NEW ways to annihilate demons, EXTENDED play time with the free new Horde Mode.

Purgatory DLC

There’s a lot of incredible talent rocking the world right now. To catch them, and then channel their furious voices into Metal: Hellsinger, is a sight to behold. A sight – or sound, rather – that you can hear right now, with the Purgatory DLC!

Put the pedal to the heavy metal with three new original songs, written by Two Feathers:
  • Goodbye, My Morning Star performed by Matt Heafy (Trivium)
  • Swallow the Fire performed by Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum)
  • Mouth of Hell performed by Joe Bad (Fit for an Autopsy)

Strongly disagree with the denizens of Hell using a new tool of destruction: The Telos bow.
  • Slay demons with arrows from a powerful bow.
  • Deal extra headshot damage and charge up your shots.
  • Pick up fired arrows to shoot without pause.
  • Unleash a hail of arrows in a wide area with your ultimate.

Lastly, slay like nobody’s watching with three new cosmetic skins, available in the Outfits screen.

Horde Mode Free Update

Horde Mode has arrived! Escape the maw of the Leviathan and battle waves of increasingly challenging demons on various arenas.

Between each wave, choose one of three power-ups, and build yourself into a mean demon-slaying machine. The farther you get, the more void echoes you’ll earn, which can be spent on permanent upgrades between runs.

You can even create your own Horde Mode playlist, so the music shuffles between songs you’ve selected when you progress to another arena.

Should you succeed in completing the new mode, you will be rewarded with a badass new skin for the Unknown, giving you the power to spread her wings and glide slowly to the ground.

Thank you, Hellsingers!

Finally, we’d like to give a huge thank you to all of you. We feel your energy through the screen, especially when we announce new things like this. We look forward to hearing your thoughts on everything we’ve just released.

Go forth, Hellsingers.

Make Hell fear the beat! 🤘

NEW ADDITIONS

New game mode: Leviathan

  • Pick up from where the story ends in the Main Campaign with the new Leviathan horde game mode, accessible from the main menu.
  • Find a way to escape the maw of the beast, through three arenas, hordes of demons, and a new boss fight!
  • The Leviathan is ever in flux, and the order of the arenas will be different every time you begin your escape.
  • To carve a path forward, you’ll need to hone your skills: kill demons, gather Echo Shards for experience, unlock new Memories and upgrade choices, at the Altar of Echoes.
  • Beware of the Leviathan’s decaying aura – weapons will fade from your hands and the Unknown’s usual methods of destruction are not to be taken for granted.
  • Find comfort in death by gathering Void Echoes; with enough of them, you can unlock Dreams, more permanent abilities, that will aid you in your next escape attempt. And the next one. And the next one...
  • If you change your mind, you can reset your Dreams, and try a different path.
  • Encounter a new foe! Defeating the final boss unlocks a new outfit (which comes with its own new ability, too. Unlock it to find out!).
  • Use any of the songs you have available to create a Leviathan Playlist, which will shuffle and give each arena a song of its own.
  • If you choose only one song, only that one favorite track will play.
  • If no choice is made, all the songs you have available will shuffle.
  • Note: the Leviathan Playlist does not affect the boss music in Leviathan.

New paid DLC: Purgatory

  • 3 New Original Tracks by Two Feathers
    • Mouth of Hell, performed by Joe Bad (from Fit For an Autopsy).
    • Swallow the Fire, performed by Melissa Bonny (from Ad Infinitum).
    • Goodbye, My Morning Star, performed by Matt Heafy (from Trivium).
    • Slay to the beats of these three hellish tunes in any of the levels via Song selector -including in the new Leviathan Mode! Note: These songs are not available for Boss fights.

  • 1 New Weapon: Telos, The Final word.
    • Telos is a sharpshooting charge weapon, able to deal extra damage on headshots.
    • Perfect the timing of charges to wreak unspeakable havoc on the demons of the hells.

  • 3 New skins
    • The Unknown’s default skin has received three new varieties, available in the Outfits screen.

New Songs Now Available With Hellsinger x DUSK

Hellsingers!

Metal: Hellsinger and DUSK are kindred spirits; like two strangers locking eyes across a great churning distance and raising their horns in solemn salute. Sharing a 97% overwhelmingly positive rating, these are two games that turn the slaughter of demons and cultists to thunderous music into a thing of beauty.

So, let’s scream it, and put your belly into it:

YOU CAN NOW PLAY DUSK SONGS IN METAL: HELLSINGER! 🤘

Nine songs from DUSK have been added to Metal: Hellsinger today, and they include absolute bangers like Murder Machine Inc. and Burn in Hell. It almost brings a boiling teardrop to the Unknown’s eye. Keep in mind that these songs are not layered like our own original songs, but they will still melt your face. Check out the full list:

  • Departure
  • Hand Cannon
  • Burn In Hell
  • Murder Machine Inc.
  • Endless
  • Mine Control
  • Sacrifice
  • Erebus
  • Bleeding Out

DUSK is the 90s-style shooter where you wade through sinister forces and turn them to gore wielding an insane arsenal of weapons (dual-wielded double-barreled shotguns stand out), set to an incredible metal soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult.

This free update is available right now, and coincides with one of the biggest discounts ever for both games. Metal: Hellsinger and DUSK are 50% and 60% off respectively, and you can get the Bundle for an additional 15% off on top of that.

If you already own one of the games and get the bundle, the additional discount will still apply.

Burn bright, Hellsingers, and make them fear the beat!

Celebrating one year of Metal: Hellsinger!

Hellsingers!

It’s already been one year since we released Metal: Hellsinger and let me tell you, it’s been one hell of a ride. But before we delve deep into memories hell, let me start with this: none of this would have been possible without YOU.

You have been the best, most dedicated, most creative, most compassionate bunch of fun demons we could have ever asked for. You embraced the hell and chaos of the Unknown’s song since the very first day you got your claws on our game and never let go. And yes, Dave (our creative director) still gawks at the 97% Overwhelmingly Positive Steam rating every day and sighs like he was 666 years young all over again. Thank you all for that.

Over this past year you’ve been pouring your love and support for us with your kind comments, kick-ass fanart (check some examples below!), and a behemoth-ton of leaderboard records we thought impossible to beat. I’ll say it once again, you have been the best community we could ever have asked for.

But now, let’s focus on ME 💅 (tal: Hellsinger). This has been a work of passion for our devmons at The Outsiders. Even though these are grizzled vets from the industry, this has been their first published game as a kick-ass team and I believe you can tell from the very second you open the main menu that this is a work of love. So seeing all your positive reactions to it has been humbling and overwhelming.

We opened to strong reviews from the videogaming press and we have been nominated for, and won, so many awards. Shila (our executive producer) and the whole The Outsiders team are overwhelmed with gratitude. Our last award win was very recently, bagging the Professional Game of the Year award at the Swedish Game Awards! So THANK YOU once again.

We truly are thankful and humbled by all this support coming from the community and press, and that’s why we’ve been able to return the love with a bunch of free updates to the game. Since launch, we’ve added Beat Assist mode, the new Archdevil difficulty, song selection, an in-game artbook as well as sigils with unlockable cosmetics.

Along with these we also released Mod Tools on PC so you can add your music to the game, and improved support for it in a later update. And to top it all off, we’ve been working on fine-tuning the already hellish balance and mechanics of the game to make it feel more enjoyable and rewarding to blast through the hells.

Earlier this year we also released Dream of the Beast, our first DLC pack which added Cristina Scabbia and Will Ramos to the already goated lineup with two new songs that quickly became fan-favorites. We also introduced new outfits for the Unknown (and of course, you did the thing and fan-arted the hell out of it), and a new weapon. And thanks to your input, we released the Essential Hits Pack a few months later, with 8 new licensed songs for those of you who wanted new genres added into the game!

To celebrate our first year anniversary, we have started a sale on Steam where you can grab the base game, as well as the released DLC and bundle for a discounted price! We’re running this sale from today, September 15, until September 25! Complete your collection and/or tell your best friend about it!

This has been one exciting year for us all, but it doesn’t mean it’s the end! We have been working on some surprises we’re pretty confident you will love, so keep an eye out for any news in our social channels (or little teases in celebration pictures haha…HA).

Thank you for this amazing year and rock on, demons!

The Metal: Hellsinger team.

PS: Before you ask, we are still working hard on bringing the soundtrack to streaming services. We will keep you updated once we have more news to share.

New Language Accidentally Arrives in Hell

Hellsingers,

Last week someone hit the publish button to the rhythm and released the Ukrainian localization for the game to your neighborly demons outside Steam. We have no clue how that happened, but witnesses remember seeing a floating object leaving the scene laughing diabolically.

In light of these mysterious events, we have rolled out the localization to Steam to not upset the headbanging balance. There are no takebacks in hell, so we'll keep rocking and hope that Red Judge doesn't notice. Remember that our devmons still have more work to do on the localization, so expect some untranslated text or bugs to pop up as you rhythmically crush your enemies.

We are stoked to bring the game to our Ukrainian players in their native language. Thank you for your continuous support!

Keep slaying to the beat!
