v0.3.0.8 - BIT destruction, weapon improvements, and lots more
Lots of stuff for you this week!
BITs can now be destroyed. Check any BIT's durability rating to see how much damage it can take. The PSA-12A pistol currently deals 26 hit points of damage. Drone bullets deal 6 hit points. One side note: BITs fabricated before this update have a durability rating of 0, even if the Omni UI inspector shows otherwise.
Improved pistol sounds, projectile, and recoil.
Increased amount of movement control you have while in the air.
Added drone explosions back.
Improved collision detection to prevent players from passing through solid objects at high velocity.
Slightly prettier clouds and nighttime sky.
Graphical tweaks to Omni UI background.
New modal on Extraction panel to let you know when you've discovered new elements.
Added a little more variation to the soundtrack.
New mouse cursor.
Fixed getting stuck on blocks and walls when trying to jump up on them.
Fixed changing resolution sometimes causing the screen to be darker than it should be.
Fixed being able to shoot yourself.
Fixed sun being visible through terrain.
Fixed hanging on a black screen when upgrading from 0.3.0.2 or earlier
Fixed holes that show sky in cave walls (caves visited prior to this update may still have a few holes in them).
Update 0.3.0.7 - Intro video and music by OVERWERK
The latest build is up, and it's got a brand new intro video (rendered in real time). Also, we are excited to announce that Metaverse's soundtrack is now by OVERWERK.
Not to mention all the new stuff we just added in 0.3.0.6:
Big terrain improvements. We think it’s gorgeous and can't wait for you to see it.
All new water system. Planets now have ponds, lakes, oceans, and continents.
Completely procedural, unique, spherical planets. Actually, this has been the case since the beginning, but now that we have continents, it’s worth pointing out again!
All new UI and experience for crafting. Access the LAIR systems while out in the field.
All new and greatly improved B.I.T.s for building your base.
New gear management system.
Double-click to transfer items between backpack and LAIR.
Tweaked amounts of refined materials extracted from raw materials. Stuff is easier to get now.
Increased player speed.
Drones are easier to kill (but as a consolation to the drones, their ammo hurts more now).
Performance tweaks and improvements.
Doubled draw distance.
Lots of other improvements and fixes.
Check it out and let us know what you think!
Entering Alpha (v0.3.0.6)
Hi community! In our last announcement we shared that we have transitioned from our Pre-Alpha experimentation stage and have moved into a high fidelity production mode based on all the ideas that were successful and well received by you during that stage. We are excited to release the first in a cascading series of updates as we enter Alpha.
In this update you're going to find:
Big terrain improvements. We think it’s gorgeous and can't wait for you to see it.
All new water system. Planets now have ponds, lakes, oceans, and continents.

Things that are going to be missing for a short while:
Intro
Tutorial
Exploration motivators
To all of our existing customers: please take a brief moment to update and try this latest release out. We are really excited to get your feedback on what you experience, since what is here is the product of our community's contribution to the very definition of the game.
If you like what you play, please click the recommend button in the game’s main menu, and let your friends know what we are up to and where we are going.
Speaking of where we are going, we also have some killer updates coming that are already in progress:
Construction
Exploration
Destruction
Cooperation
Roadmap to Beta
We've been quiet for a bit, and we wanted to give everyone an update as to why, and what to expect in the coming months.
We’ve been working on the final major reboot of the game as we march toward a Beta. This final major refactoring includes everything we've learned from our previous experiments and the feedback we've received thus far.
Below you’ll find a list of the upcoming updates that will contain this work, in the order of their planned release:
Construction Reboot/Update
Completely refactored the B.I.T.s system based on all the feedback we’ve received. (Of note, you'll no longer research patterns over time. Instead, they'll be discovered in the world.)
There are many different types of B.I.T.s now. (More on that soon.)
Dynamic B.I.T. Destruction
Harvesting Gauntlet Improvements
New and improved HUD based on feedback
New construction workflow
All new omni-station UI that consolidates the old physical workstations from the lair. (It is accessible at any time from anywhere in the world.)
Here's a glimpse at some of the sections of the new Omni-Station UI:
Exploration Reboot/Update
New Situation Station UI (part of OmniStation)
New fluid movement engine (Climb, leap, run on walls)
Wildlife
Vegetation overhaul and optimization
Proper biomes
Tutorial reboot
Based on all the feedback we’ve received on the current one, plus an intro to the all new story mode.
Story/ Combat Update
Procedural Enemy Invasion
Lots of weapons
Variety of Enemies
Deep combat system
Lots of story
Multiplayer Update
Tons of improvements and refinements
Simulation deck
Workshop
Custom avatar
Coop
Planetary Wars
And lots more in-between.
We're excited to ship the construction update soon. The necessary changes were the most involved and disruptive to having a stable build. Once it's out though, we'll be able to transition back to a much more frequent update schedule, which is something we've really missed during this rewrite!
As always, please let us know what you think, positive or negative! Metaverse wouldn't be shaping up to become the experience that it is if it weren't for our community.
- Thanks! - Creo & Vox
