The Information Exchange Update (0.0.3.3)

No tricks, just a treat!

Today we're releasing our third major update, and with it, Steam Workshop support, through the new Information Exchange feature!

Even in this initial version, we made sure that workshop support is completely integrated into the Cubic Metaware, which means that you can browse and download other player's shared fabrication schematics entirely from within Cubic.

Just check out the new browse tab on your Fabrication Station. Don't worry though, if it's your thing, you can still use the standard steam workshop web experience to browse and rate your fellow contributor's schematics.

This is just a first step, among many, that we will be taking to more deeply connect our community to each other and to us. Still, we are really excited for the potential momentum around collaborative construction and iteration of fabrications within just this first version of the feature.

To get things kicked off, we wanted to have a fun little pumpkin carving contest!

We've gone ahead and uploaded a generic pumpkin schematic that you can download in-game and customize however you like. Three winners will be picked, based on a combination of votes from the community and an interpreted amount of originality (since derivation is likely to occur). Deadline for submissions is November 1st, 10am PST.

- 1st Place - Will receive an Investors key to upgrade their account as well as a Cubic 4-pack to share with their friends.

- 2nd Place - Will receive an Investors key and another copy of Cubic to share.

- 3rd Place - Will receive an Investors key and a well intentioned but still imagined ethereal high-five.

Good luck, and have fun to all who take a "stab" at the contest!

One to many:

Finally, since this is the very first step for Cubic in to a community of interconnectedness, let's focus on being a community known for being excellent to one another, from the very beginning through to the hopefully very distant end!

As always please report any bugs or feature requests that pop up and we'll get them added to the development list.

------------ FULL CHANGE LOG ------------

Features

  • Publish and download Fabricator schematics via the new Information Exchange.

Improvements

  • Made Fabricator text much more readable.
  • Made Fabricator camera save its position when a schematic is saved.
  • Now auto-synthesizing colors when fabricating if enough materials are in storage.

Fixes

  • Moved save game files on Mac to a much safer location.

Update 0.0.3.2

Just a quick update to fix a problem:

Fixed potential game-breaking bug on game startup (credit to rawpie2 for reporting it).

Update 0.0.3.1 Available Now!

Our last update, version 0.0.3.0 introduced some really cool new features in the Fabricator. Unfortunately, only a few people got to enjoy them because in our excitement to bring you those new features, we neglected to fully regression test some parts of the game, which left some things broken for many people. We're truly sorry for that, and will do our very best to make sure that doesn't happen again. And as always, if you do experience bugs, or if you have feedback (good or bad), we encourage you to comment in the forums or email us at support@cubicdevice.com. So without further ado, here's what's new:

Fixes
  • Fixed Fabricator portion of tutorial being completely broken and impassable.
  • Fixed LAIR floor turning to quicksand while player is in Fabricator.
  • Fixed door placement part of tutorial being broken.
  • Fixed fabrications not made out of plastic could not be placed in world.
  • Fixed being unable to fabricate an object that contains plain uncolored plastic.
  • Fixed player view getting stuck in the fully zoomed in mode during teleport if they were in the LAIR before the delivery orb sequence starts.
  • Fixed crash bug on Mac that prevented us from releasing 0.0.3.0 on Mac.

And of course, all the awesome new features we added in 0.0.3.0:

FABRICATION STATION UPGRADE
Not only has the fabricator resources view been completely rewritten,
it also has a new Combinator module for the synthesis of synthetic
building materials. Don't know if you should be excited about that
or not? The best way to describe the new Combinator module is to
think of crafting, but on a molecular level.

1300Kg OF PRE-SYNTHESIZED PLASTIC, DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR
And just so you can start building right away, a delivery orb has
been dispatched with a collection of raw plastic polymers.

FOUR PIGMENTS, 10,000,000 POSSIBILITIES
If you're thinking, "playing with grey plastic doesn't sound very fun,"
we agree. That's why we've also included some pre-processed pigments
for you to use with the raw plastic polymer in the new Colorizer module
of the Fabricator.

FOUR NEW FORMULAS FOR THE COMBINATOR
To make sure the plastic party never has to end,
we are including the formula for a highly durable,
heat resistant polymer plastic. Plus the formulas
for the four base pigments mentioned earlier.

POWERED UP
Two power cells just aren't enough these days. And since
they are Quantum Technology, they aren't fabricatable yet.
So we threw in one of these as well, just in case. That, or
you'll definitely want one for what's coming in the next update...
