Here is the first gameplay video of Metro Simulator 2. It demonstrates driving out of the dead end. Keep in mind that this is not the final version.

The game is scheduled to be released to Early Access in Q4 2022. We're soon going to announce a more precise date.

Tutorials in Metro Simulator 2

We've been working on the tutorial scenario for Nomernoy (the old Soviet train) for a few weeks. In this scenario, the player will learn how to control the train, drive from Prospekt Mira to VDNKh and turn the train around in the dead end.

In the initial Early Acces version, there will be two tutorials: about Nomernoy and Oka (the second one will last longer and will require you to drive around almost the whole Line 6) and two scenarios. Also, you will be able to complete routes in the Free Mode.

New UI elements in Metro Simulator 2

In Metro Simulator 2, we added the information about the state of the next traffic light and speed limit on the next part of the track. It can be seen in the bottom-right corner.
Current speed limit is displayed near the speedometer.

Also, we added tips about disengaging emergency brakes if player engaged it manually or exceeded the speed limit.

The new look of the old soviet train

This year is, probably, the hardest one ever for KishMish Games. Only in the first half of 2022, we faced lots of challenges which we neverd dealt with before. You already know about problems with payments due to restrictions. But also, this spring we received a complaint from one of the companies related to transport. They require us to pay a fine and remove content which is used illegally, in their opinion. We are still trying to insist that we aren't violating any copyrights, but it isn't a quick routine, and of course it takes money, time and mental health. It is still unknown what will happen in the end of this story.

In this regard, we took a decision that the new train in Metro Simulator 2 will look unlike any real train to minimize the risk of receiving more complaints. You can see its look on the screenshots (but not everything is set up, so this is not the final look). Anticipating questions about licensing a real train: our probability to negotiate on acceptable conditions is very low. We have some experience in working with lawyers in this sphere and representatives of transport companies. Unfortunately, situation with patents and copyrights in sphere of transport is very complicated: areas of responsibility of employees are blurred, taking decisions lasts for a long time and finally, they are not interested in cooperation with small studios like us due to non-comparable level of companies.

We understand that many of you may be disappointed with this news, but unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it now.

A little about implementing the new train

We are now working on implementing Numbered train into the game. It's quite a long process, but more than a half is already done. We still have to finish up lights, informer, passenger system and route sheet. There are some things that are done but need adjustments, like sounds.

We hope that we'll do everything we plan in time, and the game will be released this fall.

We finished working on routing system!

Just finished working on one of the important subsystems of traffic lights system, which is routing.
Now you won't have to control rail switches directly to build the route. Routing window can be called by pressing right mouse button on a semi-automatic traffic light (semi-automatic traffic lights have only letters and numbers or just letters in their names). If needed, built route can be cancelled.
Also, visual designations of rail switches can be disabled in Settings now.
At this moment, we're working on setting up this system across the Line 6.

New render of tunnel equipment

Meanwhile, tunnels are being filled up with equipment. For example, here is a Wi-Fi router for Metro tunnels.

Mirrors and their problems

Looks like we haven't posted any news during the last time. Let's fix it: we're trying to figure out possible ways of improving performance of mirrors on the stations. In Metro Simulator 2, we use HDRP renderer which provides better picture, but it also more resource-taxing.

Mirrors affect performance dramatically, and we are working on looking for ways to fix this problem. If we don't succeed, we'll go on one of two ways: either disable mirrors completely or make them optional so that you can enable them if you have a quite powerful PC.

This is the dead end of Novoyasenevskaya

Even though the station is called Novoyasenevskaya, the semi-automatic traffic lights have designation "БП", which stands for Bitsevskiy Park, the previous name of this station.
