Miasma Caves

Major Update 0.9.0

We've got a huge patch here and we are nearing coming out of early access. Firstly, the 4th Depth will now generate at the bottom of the cave! This section contains lots of danger and lots of riches. Beware, lava makes falling a much more fatal mistake.

With this update any caves generated in a previous update will be removed and replaced with a new cave.



While not visible we have been working on our cave loading and generation a lot the past few months and we've moved to using LOD, so the cave will no longer need a large load time when you start the game or make a new cave. It will load as you explore, and just the area around you.

We're also introducing more animals!
We have the Duskling, a mischievous critter that flies around the cave, picking up treasures to fly away with.



The Pangomole, a slow critter that wanders around and digs. When scared it will take off quickly and destroy a wall, watch out for cave ins!



The Will o'Wisp, the last of the new critters that look like waymarkers from afar. They lead travelers astray down wrong paths, but if caught will provide a powerful light orb or rarely some equipment that generates light!



Change Log:

  • LOD! The cave is changed to now load as you explore instead of generating the whole cave at the start. Cave generation should be much faster!
  • 4th Depth! Venture further into the cave to the most dangerous areas. Amazing treasure awaits, but so do bigger dangers.
  • New Animal!: Duskling, a mischievous creature they will carry treasures away.
  • New Animal!: The Pangomole, a slow creature that digs large holes.
  • New Animal!: Will o'wisp, an orb of light that leads adventurers astray
  • The catalog will now have entries for when you find Animals and Lost Lands
  • The Appraise bar will now visually look full when you hit max level
  • The Miasma has weakened slightly. The damage over time will deal less damage
  • The first depth of the cave has some new room formations
  • Falling rocks will speed up if they are falling from an extra high height
  • Fixed that some sounds were not effected by the volume slider
  • Added in new sound effects
  • Red dirt is now a little more stable
  • It is now easier to see if something is checked or not in options
  • Metal Boots will make Lesath even heavier and louder than before
  • Light Boots will now make Lesath so light that the floor will not break from under her
  • The tutorial cutscene has returned. Sorry Flicker



New Tutorial Update (0.8.5)


  • Brand new Tutorial. Too see it, start a new game
  • Another lost land has appeared in the caves. There are rumors of Cumulo gathering there. To find this one you must use a new cave, you can talk with Turies in town to start a new one.
  • Fixed bug that stopped adventure shop from selling additional items after upgrading
  • Fixed bug that prevented items from washing up in the fountain
  • Cave-ins should trigger more accurately
  • Fixed bug that made jewel rocks make too many gems when destroyed
  • Updated settings that play with steam
  • Fixed bug occasionally making the compass point the wrong way

0.8.4 Update

This patch we've changed some of the caves systems to make the tunnels more interesting, and limit dead ends while exploring. A new Lost Land had also been seen in the depths. Full list below.


  • Added a new Lost Land deep within the caves
  • We've adjusted the cave generation, so there will be less dead ends. The tunnels will loop into each other more often.
  • Jewel Rocks will now generate throughout the cave. Destroy them and you can find gems inside
  • Fixed a music transition bug
  • The room the cave exit is in will be brighter
  • New sound effects
  • Fixed bug that made it some the air cleanser didn't remove poison clouds
  • Adjusted text typewriter speed
  • Fixed a bug that would get in the way of falling in really deep chasms
  • Fixed bug that made some pieces of ground to not break when dug.
  • Fixed bug that would occasionally fill a Lost Land with dirt and rocks.

0.8.3 Update

This patch is a smaller list of changes, but will have noticeable impact on the game play.


Change Log

  • Changed Torch strength: having no torch will be darker, and torches will be brighter
  • Lost Lands will now light up when you enter them
  • Fixed some bugs that occurred if you died with the inventory broken
  • Fixed bug that caused hover boots to cause greater fall damage than it should, and causing it to deal any fall damage when it shouldn't
  • Swapped the default inventory UI to the appraise screen from the equipment screen
  • You no longer start with a pickaxe, and the adventure shop wont have pickaxes for sale until the shop has been upgraded
  • Digging should no longer make holes in the geometry
  • Improved frame rate during cave-ins
  • Fixed bug where occasionally on fainting in the game, the town would treat all the building upgrades as built, but without giving the bonus. If you have a save file with this, entering then leaving the cave should fix it

0.8.2 Update

  • Lesath now has footstep sounds in town
  • Fixed bug that made it so some sound effects didn't always play
  • Fixed bug that didn't updated the # of items in your hotbar while in the shop
  • Air cleansers will now work on the graveyard poison gas
  • The air cleanser can now be dropped like other items
  • The shop will no longer display an item's info after you have sold it
  • Fixed bug that would occasional not let you pick up an item the first time you tried
  • Fixed bug on load that could make the treasure tracker radar not work
  • Mines should not generate floating in other sections of the cave
  • Adjusted height of some of the mine segments
  • Cave progression through Mines now go at the same rate as the rest of the cave
  • Cumulo's bounce no longer are visible through dense fog
  • Waymarkers won't turn into item bags on reload
  • The mushrooms in the cave now can be seen in the fog and changed color
  • The ground now shows cracks where it has been damaged from digging

0.8.1 Update!

Update 0.8.1 is here, now with support for controllers and plenty of fixes!

Along with controllers we've updated the cave generation to fix issues with empty rooms and challenges getting into the Lost Lands. If you have a saved game be sure to talk to Turies to reset the cave so you will have the new updates. We also worked on the catalog to help it better list your progress in collecting all the treasures

Basalt Caves Update (v0.8)

Big patch here! We're finishing up the first phase in our roadmap to get in the next depth of cave into the game, the Basalt Caves!



The Basalt caves are more dangerous than the previous sections, while not as vertical as the the limestone caves, they are is some overlap with some of the chasms appearing in both. The ground in this section is less stable than above, and it takes a lot of adventuring to reach it, making more the the shops tools more important. In the Basalt caves some new things will be forming, ruins of the ancient civilization will be findable, along with new types of treasures.

These areas will be available next time you start a new cave. If your continuing from a saved game, talk to Turies in town to reset the cave and see all the new wonders!

Going forward our next big tasks are going to be spending extra time tracking down bugs and cleaning up the game before getting to the next grouping of new content.

Saving Update (0.7.1.11)

Hello Everyone,

We're closing in on getting through Phase 1 of the roadmap with the 3rd depth coming soon. But before that we are wanted to get in one more big feature, Cave Saving! Now if you quit anywhere in the cave, when you come back you will return right where you left off, lost hopelessly in the cave.

One other bonus today, we have added a prize at the bottom of the cave, see if you can find it.

  • When you load game you will now continue from the same place you were at, even in the cave.
