This update is a minor maintenance update which only contains the following changes:
Bug fix for macOS players running Metal that caused the game to freeze when re-focusing the game window after switching to a window that covers the game window.
Updated the credits list.
Mini Metro now runs on Unity 2022.3. This unfortunately requires macOS Mojave, and no longer supports macOS High Sierra. We have preserved the previous version of the game for players on macOS 10.13 who are unable to upgrade. If you are in this position, follow these steps to switch to that version:
Right-click on Mini Metro in your Steam library
Select Betas
Open the drop-down in the top left, and select highsierra - macOS 10.13 compatibility branch
Close the window and wait for Mini Metro to update. In your Steam library, it should show up as “Mini Metro [highsierra]”
Thank you to the community members who reported the issue.

Expand your minimalist strategy horizons - bundle with shapez now!
We know that it can be tough to find games that scratch the Mini Metro itch, so we wanted to introduce you to our friend Tobias Springer and his game, shapez! For a limited time, we're partnering up for the ‘Subways and shapez' bundle, which will give you a discount on both our titles.
In shapez, the name of the game is speed just as much as efficiency. You must build increasingly complex production lines that slice, rotate, and colour a variety of shapes as your factories expand, just like the maps in Mini Metro. While things start out at a relaxed pace, you'll soon find that as your factories scale, you'll have to build increasingly well designed assembly lines to keep up! Dive into this bundle to put your strategy skills to the test.
If you already own Mini Metro, you can still purchase the bundle to get a discount of 10% on shapez. And if you don't own Mini Metro yet, now you can pick up both games at a 10% discount through 13 August.
Happy planning!
Your Labour of Love pick for the Steam Awards?
It’s been a big year for Mini Metro. Ten years is a long lifespan for an indie game, and we’ve enjoyed every year of it, bringing you over two dozen exciting maps from around the world, brand new game modes, Steam Workshop integration, and more!
If you’ve enjoyed the many free updates we’ve rolled out over the last decade, we’d be honoured if you would consider nominating us for the Labour of Love award this year at the Steam Awards. Mini Metro has always been a “labour of love” for our studio in that we never had any plans to charge for DLC from the beginning. And our wonderful players have been part of that work, too, giving feedback in the early days of the game all the way through to designing so many incredible maps for Mini Metro Workshop!
We’ve loved the opportunities that our updates have given our game, our team, and our players. If you’ve loved ‘em too, consider heading up to the top of our product page and clicking on the button to nominate us. :)
Thanks for everything - from supporting us all the way back in Steam Green Light through to our big ten-year party! We’d be honoured to have your nomination.
Happy Birthday! Celebrate 10 Years of Mini Metro with our Miniversary Update!
Happy Birthday, commuters!
We can’t believe it’s Mini Metro’s 10th Birthday! And to celebrate 10 years of Mini with our amazing community, we’ve released a massive Miniversary Update across both Mini Metro and Mini Motorways to fill your days with brand-new transport strategy fun!
New to Mini Metro in this update, we’ve brought over three of our favourite maps from Mini Motorways and their colourful palettes to Mini Metro. Introducing: Tokyo, Lisbon and Warsaw!
From this map’s gorgeous pastel hues to its iconic island geography, take Tokyo’s iconic Metro lines in your own direction with this new map!
Cross the River Vistula and take a turn delivering the Polish capital’s 1.7 million passengers to their destinations in the historic city of Warsaw.
Take a trip to the European coast of Portugal’s capital city, Lisbon. Bordering the brilliant blue waters of the Tagus, how will you reimagine the Metropolitano de Lisboa in this tricky five-line map?
The Miniversary Update also introduces a brand-new photo mode where you can export screenshots of your own metro networks with decorative frames to show off your metro masterpieces. This is also joined by a new GIF capture feature coming to Mini Metro. Export colourful animations of your unique metro networks at any stage in the game to share with friends or just for bragging rights. This update also features various improvements and bug fixes.
But that’s not all! If you’re a fan of both games, or have been waiting for an opportunity to take Mini Motorways for a spin, the Miniversary Update might just be the perfect time to join the ride.
With three new crossover maps coming to Mini Motorways, direct from Mini Metro, you can reimagine the experience of creating the Metro lines of London, Mumbai and our player-voted map winner New York City. And to make things even more fun, these new maps will also require you to build around an existing railroad network with train stations!
It has been an honour and a joy to celebrate the last 10 years of Mini with such an amazing community of players. No matter where you jumped on board, we hope you’ve enjoyed this decade long-journey with us! Who knows where our next destination might take us, but with you there, it’s made the trip well worth it!
Happy Birthday!
Three new maps coming soon to Mini Metro!
Mini Metro is the game that started it all here at Dinosaur Polo Club, and we’re thrilled to celebrate its tenth birthday in style with the Miniversary Update coming July 24th PT! We’re bringing over three maps from Mini Motorways’ catalogue, including another chance to take a ride on the Shinkansen in Tokyo! In addition to this much-requested map, you can build your way around the braided rivers of Warsaw and the Portuguese coast in Lisbon.
The original Mini Metro team, complete with artist Jamie Churchman and Disasterpeace on sound, have lent their touch to these three gorgeous maps in their Mini Motorways colours, showcasing just how far we’ve travelled since Ludum Dare in 2013 while also never straying from our minimalist roots. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Except the metros in these cities really do need you to fix them. So come celebrate with us!
See you on 24th July PT for the biggest Mini birthday our studio has ever had!
