While you test your problem solving skills as you travel across the world, be sure to check out Mini Metro’s all-new histogram-style leaderboards. You’ll be able to see how you rank amongst players from across the globe.

As always, we have endless gratitude for our players who continue to create thriving cities all around the world! We hope you enjoy your trip to Uzbekistan and we can’t wait to see how you tackle Tashkent :D See you next time!

Made in New Zealand Steam Event!

Greetings, Commuters!

We are so thrilled to share that we’re a part of the Made In New Zealand Steam event 🥝 This event highlights a variety of games made in our home country of Aotearoa New Zealand and we’re so proud to share what our game dev community has on offer. To celebrate, we’re putting Mini Metro and Mini Motorways on sale for the duration of the event! Head to Steam to check out the event and explore games from our little corner of the world :)

Mini Metro now stopping in Nanjing!

Happy Lunar New Year, commuters! To celebrate, Mini Metro will now be stopping in the historical city of Nanjing, China! Home to one of the country’s largest metro systems, with nearly 160 stations, Nanjing is nestled between mountains, rivers, and lakes – a beautiful and challenging new addition to the Mini Metro map library.

As always, we at Dinosaur Polo Club appreciate you sticking with Mini Metro for so many years and continuing to celebrate as we near the game’s ninth anniversary! Thanks so much for your support and we’ll see you later this year. :)

Mini Metro now stopping in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia!

It’s hard to believe that Mini Metro has been around for so long that we’re adding maps for metro systems that opened after our game debuted! For our December update, we invite players to explore Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The Addis Ababa Light Rail opened in 2015, servicing ten sub-city boroughs. Take control of the first light rail and rapid transit network in sub-Saharan Africa!

Addis Ababa is nestled in the shade of Mount Entoto, with tricky terrain for players as they must design a metro that serves the city’s five million residents while weaving around and over the Akaki and Bulbula rivers, as well as their tributaries!

This update features:

  • A brand new map! Connect the five million commuters of Addis Ababa who call Ethiopia’s capital home.
  • New achievements and challenges!
  • Fixes to outstanding issues, including:

    • Fixed a looping audio bug that was affecting some players.
    • Added a warning every time you replay the Daily Challenge that only the first score is counted.
    • Fixed some bugs where buttons and UI elements occasionally behaved unusually.

Thanks so much for continuing to enjoy Mini Metro after so many years. It's pretty wild that we're now releasing maps for cities whose rail networks were released after Mini Metro was! :D We're grateful to all of you for your support and we can't wait to see you again in 2022!

Now stopping in one of Europe's oldest metro systems: Budapest!

Hi, commuters!

We're thrilled to share a new map with you all. Enjoy recreating or improving upon Budapest's 126-year-old metro system. This update features...

  • A brand new map featuring continental Europe’s oldest metro system: Budapest! You can now recreate the iconic metro system of Hungary’s capital, alongside our twenty-five other international maps.
  • Several improvements to audio quality, including the ability to turn the volume completely off so you can tune into your favourite podcast or playlist while building the metro system of your dreams.
  • Updated night-mode colours for several of our existing maps such as Auckland, Chicago, Osaka and more.
  • Improved visuals for our maps with smooth rivers and coastlines including New York City, Saint Petersburg, San Francisco, Cairo and Mumbai!

Thanks so much to everyone who has been enjoying Mini Metro after finding us through Mini Motorways. :) We are excited to see our first game still getting so much love from the community. We're under a pretty strict lockdown in New Zealand right now - seeing people in so many places enjoying Mini Metro helps us feel like we're still part of the world!

Mini Motorways out now + we're today's Steam daily deal!

We try not to toot our own horns too much here at Dino HQ, but in case you missed it, Mini Motorways is out now! More of a spiritual successor to Mini Metro than a direct sequel, it asks a question which puts a brand new spin on familiar game mechanics: what if you had to design roads for a city with no public transit?

Keen on taking Mini Motorways for a spin? Pick it up here.

And to celebrate our sophomore game's Steam release, we're giving Steam players 75% off Mini Metro! If you've always wanted to check it out or wanted to share a copy with a friend, now's your chance. :)
Last but not least, we'll be updating Mini Metro with a shiny new map in late August! This city's first metro line is listed with UNESCO World Heritage and is over 130 years old! Any guesses?

Thanks so much for still loving Mini Metro all this time and for the warm welcome to Mini Motorways. We'll see you in August!

Mini Metro Workshop has been updated: leaderboards, improved guide, and more!

Hi, commuters! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you have put into Mini Metro Workshop since it launched. We can’t believe you’ve made over 60 maps! We’re thrilled to announce that your community maps will now have leaderboards so that you can compete against your friends.

  • Community maps on Steam now have leaderboards.
  • Steam links will now open in the Steam app rather than your web browser.
  • The dynamic duo of Kucnjnj and Disasterpeace have updated the Workshop guide, clarifying some things and a section about how leaderboards work as well as how to implement custom audio for your maps, if you dare!
  • Added a button in the community maps screen which will open your mod folder directly.
  • Quality-of-life UI changes for community maps.
  • Quality-of-life tweaks to station-obstacle interaction in community maps.
  • And as usual, some bug fixes.

Happy Lunar New Year! Now stopping at Chongqing!

Hello commuters,

To celebrate the Year of the Ox, we're inviting players to explore a brand new city. Journey by rail to Chongqing, China's largest inland municipality. With its unique geography and the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, you are sure to find a challenge in its topography!

Thank you for continuing to love and support Mini Metro as we enter our sixth year on Steam!

Now Stopping at Chicago!

As a little end-of-year surprise, we've added a brand-new map to Mini Metro!

You can now make your mark on the Windy City: Chicago, on the shores of Lake Michigan in the United States. Chicago is famous for the "L", the elevated rapid transit system that originally opened in 1892.

Chicago has consistently been one of our most-requested maps, so we're delighted to be able to add it to our roster of cities - bringing the total to 25!
