We've got a beta of Mini Metro's new feature, the Daily Challenge, live on the test branch. Every day you get one shot at a city that plays out identically for everyone. Complete with daily leaderboards and all that stuff. If that sounds like your cup of tea, switch to the test branch and check it out!
Beta 36, and a release date!
Beta 36 is live! The major changes are:
Some small (but important!) fixes to the pathfinding. Trains now shouldn't skip past full stations at inopportune moments.
Re-enabled Turkish and Danish languages as their translations near completion.
We're making a lot of progress in tracking down the last known crash bug that sometimes occurs when dragging trains. We'll make another release when this has been fixed.
Also, we have a release date! Mini Metro will be leaving Early Access on November the 6th. We're working on one new feature to launch with, we're pretty sure you'll like it!
Stop Press
The dragging-train crash has been found and fixed! A new beta36 with that fix (a well as a change to the OS X fullscreen mode) has been pushed live.
Upcoming price increase!
We've just pushed beta33 with a few tweaks to the audio and a number of stability fixes. As of beta31 we've been getting automatic exception reports through Unity Cloud Services, which is making it much simpler to find and fix all sorts of issues—wish I'd known about it months ago! :)
Now that the audio is in and a release date is looking closer, we'll soon be increasing the price of Mini Metro. The original intention, back in August 2014, was to steadily increase the price until launch as the planned features were added. The first increase was always going to be happen when audio went in ... seemed like a good idea back when we expected it in after only a few months.
So, if you're waiting to pick up Mini Metro, now's your chance! If you already do (thanks!), tell your friends to get in while the going's good. Preferably all of them, repeatedly. Just keep at it until they cave.
Beta31: Audio!
After more than a year in Early Access (how did that happen!?), audio is now in on the main branch. We hope you enjoy it! We're working on a few issues, and Disasterpeace is busy perfecting it, so there may be some changes over the next couple of weeks.
In other news, we've redesigned the city selection screen to show a city preview again, as well as a short description of what to expect from each city.
Audio on test branch
The first public release of Mini Metro's audio can be found on the test branch. We'll be pushing it to the main branch once it's had a bit of a thrash and any kinks have been ironed out. If you do check it out, please let us know if you encounter any problems! I think there may be some issues when playing with low frame rates.
Oh, and remember to enable audio in the options if it's disabled! :)
Hotfix!
A number of bugs around animated gif export and game resuming have been squashed over the last couple of days (thanks if you sent in bug reports!). We've pushed up beta30c with all of those fixes. Please let us know if you see any more issues in that area—email logs and dodgy gif exports to peter@dinopoloclub.com.
Beta 30a
We've had reports of errors in the animated GIF export, so we've put additional debugging info into beta30a. If you get a crazy GIF (lines running to non-existent stations, zig-zag lines, etc.) please email the file to peter@dinopoloclub.com. Thanks a million!
Beta 30
Ok, better get this out of the way first—audio's still not in yet, but Disasterpeace has sent builds off for feedback so we're nearly there!
The biggest change we've made in beta30 is in the post-game screen—in addition to checking out your statistics and taking a screenshot, you can now view a replay of your game and export it as an animated gif. You can find the replay by clicking on the movie button in the lower-left corner of the game over screen, next to the camera.
We hope you get some value out of this!
Other changes and fixes in this patch are:
The credits screen now lists all of our wonderful translators!
Fixed statistics tracking on resumed games.
Added the -noblur command-line parameter to disable the blur effect if it's causing problems.
Hopefully fixed Steam achievement syncing issues, and added more logging in case we didn't.
Beta 29a: hotfix
An issue was found when resuming a game in a fully-zoomed out city in beta29. This has been fixed in beta29a. Changes to the colourblind palette along with more performance enhancements snuck in as well.
Beta 29
The major addition is the ability to resume the last game you left. If you exit any game though the pause menu, a 'Resume' button will be available in the main menu. Hit that and you're away! Note that only the last game you abandoned is stored.
A number of graphical glitches that were introduced with beta28's performance improvements have been tidied up. The asset panel should no longer get in the way of gameplay (finally!). We've added the option to replay the tutorial if required—you can find the button in the lower-right corner of the options screen.
Audio is ... well, err, it's close. Same thing we said last update. :| "Close". It's closer than it was!
