The gamma9 build has been deployed, this includes the following changes:
Tidied up service calls for fetching leaderboards and the daily challenge, which means a slightly quicker UI.
Fixed uncommon case where the transition or engine sound would loop continuously.
Tapping the control key will play a quick red burst animation on top of the mouse cursor. Handy if you've lost it!
Fixed inconsistencies in the German translation.
Removed one-frame snap when continuing a scored game.
Screenshot and GIF save notification messages no longer persist past their useful lifetime.
Multi-monitor support
Quick release today. We've just pushed the gamma8 build from test to the default branch; the most significant change is the reintroduction of the Unity configuration dialog. On Windows you can use this to select which monitor to run Mini Metro on.
To bring up the dialog, hold down the shift key when you start the game. Please note all the other settings are ignored, so you still have to change resolution in-game!
FLAC audio
We've just pushed the gamma6 update to the default branch on Steam. The major change is that the audio is now compressed with FLAC instead of Vorbis—as a result, the download is a little bigger, but the audio is slightly higher quality and decompresses much more quickly. This is one of the first changes we've made for the mobile release that's been rolled back to the desktop build.
Now in Swedish!
Thanks to a community translation, as of the latest build (gamma5) Mini Metro has full Swedish localisation. Yay!
Also in gamma5, we've removed the check that was causing the game to explode if it was started by running the game's executable directly, instead of through Steam. As long as the Steam client is running, you'll still have full Steam integration if you run it externally (with the exception of the Steam overlay).
Gamma 4
We've made a number of small changes and fixes in the build that's just gone live. The most noticeable changes are reduced load times as the game now caches the decompressed audio, and a fix for a long-standing bug in the passenger pathfinding.
Gamma 3 build
Hi all! We've just pushed a bunch of minor fixes out with the gamma3 build, including the following:
New audio arrangement for Melbourne.
Bridges are now used to cross the Yarra instead of tunnels.
Fix for Melbourne's Extreme achievement check.
Portrait resolutions are no longer broken.
The colour for Cairo's grey line is more distinctive from the unused line's colour.
If you want to know what we're up to, you can always find the list of issues and tasks on our Trello board.
Leaderboard sync hotfix
A tiny update has been pushed up to Steam to prevent old high scores from syncing with the online leaderboards. We completely forgot that we had that code in there, which unfortunately messed up with the leaderboard wipe this morning. D'oh! We'll be pruning out the old scores from the leaderboards over the next few days.
Welcome to Mini Metro!
Mini Metro is now released out of Early Access! Thanks to everyone for all your support, testing, suggestions, and enthusiasm. It's helped carry us over the line. Also a big thanks to our community translators who have allowed us to ship in a massive amount of languages.
So right now we can officially announce the Daily Challenge mode! This is available straight from the main menu and lets you get one shot at a new map every day—along with everyone else in the world! So get as high a score as you can and see how well you do. Then come back tomorrow to find out tomorrow's challenge!
Also we've got a brand new map for you, Melbourne! It's got a cool art style as well as featuring trams instead of trains.
This is far, far from the end of the road for Mini Metro though. We've been talking about where to take it from here and have some exciting ideas bubbling away for the future. So, stay tuned!
And keep the city moving.
Imminent score wipe!
We're nearing Mini Metro's release out of Early Access—it's scheduled for 10AM Pacific Time on Friday. We are going to wipe all the leaderboards (except the daily challenge boards) on launch. You'll still have the local record of your high scores, but if you want to boast to the world about it you'll have to earn it all over again. ːsteamsadː
There will be a new map coming though! ːsteamhappyː
Beta 37
Hi everyone,
A big (in file size) update today—we've re-encoded the audio in a format that will allow it to load faster when you start Mini Metro. This meant that all the audio had to be downloaded again.
Also the testing of the daily challenge on the test branch went very well so we've pushed it out to everyone for a couple of days before we release out of Early Access on Friday.
