Mini Motorways

Explore All-New Endless Mode & Expert Mode!

Greetings, commuters!

You asked, and we listened! We’re so excited to share that you can now enjoy Mini Motorways at your own speed with two exciting new modes - Endless Mode and Expert Mode. Whether you want to take the pressure off in Endless Mode and explore each city at your leisure, or go for a joyride in Expert Mode and kick it up a notch, Mini Motorways’ biggest update so far brings something for everyone.

Endless Mode introduces a brand new way of playing Mini Motorways! Start a new game in Classic Mode, and after you reach the Game Over screen, you can continue in Endless Mode to continue your excellent urban planning and explore the city that could have been! Alternatively, if you’re after a relaxing gameplay session, you can explore Mini Motorways the zen-way by playing Endless Mode right from the start.

Expert Mode comes with a new set of challenges and obstacles, such as permanent roads and limited upgrades. The choice is yours: you can pick from any upgrade, but only for the first eight weeks - after that, it’s just road tiles! This mode is perfect for players who want to switch up their strategy and kick it up a notch.

Unlock Expert Mode for each map by playing some of the unique city challenges available while you explore the 15 iconic destinations available, from Tokyo to Lisbon and many more. In addition to these exciting new game modes, this update brings tweaks to photo mode, all-new Endless Mode and Expert Mode achievements, and a new Expert Mode leaderboard so you can see how you stack up against other Mini Motorways enthusiasts! We've also added the ability to manually zoom in on your city as well as several different zoom levels, so you can choose how you'd like to play.

We hope you enjoy exploring these two new game modes and can’t wait to see how you tackle them your way!

We want to take a moment to thank our amazing community for their support for Endless and Expert Mode! We know it’s been a highly-requested feature for a long time and we’re so thrilled to be able to share this with you all. Mini Motorways was always going to be special to us as our sophomore release, but the passion and creativity of our wonderful community helps make it even more so. Your support and enthusiasm are everything to us and we hope you enjoy the Endless & Expert update.

This update includes:
• Endless Mode - a brand new way of playing Mini Motorways, allowing you to enjoy the game without the threat of a city ending before you want it to, or for those wishing to keep playing after Game Over, you can continue your city in Endless Mode and explore the city that could have been.
• Expert Mode - Unlock a new set of challenges and obstacles, such as permanent roads and limited upgrades, perfect for players who want to switch up their strategy and kick it up a notch. This new game mode also comes with its own leaderboard so you can see how you measure up against the game’s most skilled city planners.
• New Endless Mode and Expert Mode achievements.
• We've also added the ability to manually zoom in to your city as well as several different zoom levels, so you can choose how you'd like to play. These features were much-requested by our community, so thank you for your feedback!
• A new button has been added to the weekly upgrade screen which allows you to view your city before selecting your upgrade.
• New visual indicators for in-game error messages to reduce the number of pop-up boxes on screen.
• Various bug fixes and performance improvements.

One week until Endless and Expert Mode Arrive!

Hello, city planners!

We are so thrilled to finally announce that our upcoming Endless & Expert Update, featuring two highly-requested game modes, will be available from November 3rd PST.

Endless Mode offers you a chance to transform our 15 iconic cities into a canvas of artistic roadwork and traffic efficiency, all without the threat of a Game Over. Kick back and watch your map expand as you design the city of your dreams, ideal for those who want to play Mini Motorways the zen way. Earn upgrades along the way by achieving milestones and building an efficient city, but say goodbye to the score and the leaderboard – this mode is all about removing the pressure!

Expert Mode introduces new challenges and obstacles that resemble real-life city planning challenges, such as permanent upgrade and road tile placement. Early-game strategy becomes all the more important here because there’s no going back! Vie for a chance to beat the best of the best by placing on the new Expert Mode leaderboards. Before you can compete against the highest tier of civil engineers, you'll need to reach a certain score on any of the maps' challenges in order to unlock Expert Mode.

The fun doesn’t stop there, though! This update will feature various quality-of-life improvements requested by our awesome community. Discover a new multi-level manual zoom option to choose your preferred way to draw roads in your city on every platform, and make well-informed decisions with the ability to view your current city layout before choosing an upgrade at the end of each week. These last two are features we've sourced directly from community feedback - thanks to everyone over the last year who's taken the time to share your thoughts.

We’re so lucky to have such an inspiring community that supports our games and helps us to continually make Mini Motorways better and better! We know these game modes have been highly desired in the community for a long time and we’re so happy to be able to turn that vision into reality.

Hi, commuters! It's been two weeks since the launch of the Night Lights update and we're here with a micro update to fix some of the issues that folks have found, including:

Thanks for all of your continued support :)

Mini Motorways wins the Audience Award at the Independent Games Festival 2022!

G'day, Commuters!

We wanted to share with you all some very exciting news about Mini Motorways  The Independent Games Festival awards were held last Friday at GDC in San Francisco, and while our team couldn't be there in person due to covid, we watched from afar over in New Zealand and we were so impressed by the lineup of games that were up for awards.

Amongst those, Mini Motorways was up for the Excellence in Audio award, which meant we were eligible for the Audience Award, too. We were all overwhelmed with gratitude for you all – our amazing community – who showed up for us by voting for Mini Motorways as your top choice as the recipient of the Audience Award! It was a surprising and wonderful moment for us, and it showed us how much support we have from our community. We want to share how much you all inspire us and keep us motivated to always make Mini Motorways better and better!

Thank you to you all for showing your love for Mini Motorways. We are so honoured to have won the Audience Award and we can't thank you all enough!!

We're finalists at the Independent Games Festival Awards + game modes survey!

Wow, what a wild year it’s been for Mini Motorways. Or half a year? Most of a year? Something. We’ve been blown away by the response to Mini Motorways on Steam and the support we’ve received from the Steam community.

We’re already busy working on our first big update of 2022 which will coincide with our Nintendo Switch launch, but we wanted to take a break and share some cool news with you. Mini Motorways is a finalist for the Excellence in Audio award at the 2021 Independent Games Festival! We’re so happy for Disasterpeace, and the game was also an Honorable Mention for the Excellence in Design category, which is quite an honour!

As a finalist, we are also eligible for the Audience Award, which is a popular vote between all of the finalists for the Independent Games Festival Awards. If you’ve enjoyed Mini Motorways over the last year, we’d appreciate your support! You can access the voting form via our website or read more on the IGF home page over at IGF HQ!

In addition, we are running a survey to gather player feedback on what folks would like to see in new game modes for Mini Motorways in 2022. We'd love to hear what types of new play experiences you want to see, whether they're existing game modes for Mini Metro or something entirely different. You can access the form via our website - please scroll down to the bottom and read the short instructions to see exactly what kind of suggestions we're looking for. :)

Thanks again and happy commuting!

(This is a repost of an earlier post - clearly we don't post links to google forms that often, we had no idea Steam would smite them! Thanks to the players who gave us a heads up. :))

UPDATED 14TH DEC - QUICK POLISH UPDATE

Hi, commuters! We've kept an eye on player feedback and tinkered with a few bugs, so we're releasing another small patch tonight NZT. You'll find the following changes have been implemented.

  • Leaderboards will now show the top 5% of scores in increments of 1%. Instead of topping out at 5%, you'll now be able to find out if you're the absolute best of the best.
  • We've fixed a few bugs, most noteworthy among them that missing achievements on the Wellington map will be active again! These will be rewarded retroactively so no need to redo your scores.
  • A couple small visual bugs have been fixed as well.
  • Lastly, we've fixed an issue where right-clicking while dragging a roundabout could cause an exception.

Thanks for all your diligent emails to support@dinopoloclub.com - we've been able to hop on this stuff very quickly because of you. :)
