In π Royal Rumble, your goal is simple: hold the crown longer than anyone else!
For now, it reuses the π£ Explosive Exchange map, because why launch a new minigame with a terribly work-in-progress map when we can reuse one thatβs already proven to be great for chasing players? πββ‘οΈ
β οΈ As with most WIP minigames, π Royal Rumble is probably COMPLETELY unbalanced and will receive big improvements and changes over the coming updates! βοΈ
Summit Scramble has also graduated from WIP... again! π π
This minigame has been perpetually WIP, mainly due to persistent balancing issues. Still, it started feeling odd to keep a fully functional but somewhat unbalanced minigame in the WIP section, especially when we see a small percentage of players calling π³οΈ Summit Scramble one of their niche favorites.
That said, weβve also made a few tweaks to improve balance: a clearer scorebar, updated point calculations, and more. Let's see how these changes perform in action! π§π¬

πΉοΈ Minigame Changes
π§ Crumble Crisis
We've recolored and revamped the ancient Crumble Crisis map, which hadn't been updated in appearance since its conception in 2020, when we hadn't discovered our artstyle yet. π Check the aurora borealis! π€€
Ice crumbling mechanics have also been adjusted, and we'll be balancing it live today in our Discord! π₯Ά
π‘ Fun fact! We try to give every minigame a unique and identifiable color profile. It gets harder and harder to carve out new color profiles with each minigame! Here's a fun chart that we use to identify new colors to explore:

β General Changes
π₯ (WIP) Replay System
We've added a (work-in-progress) replay system to allow you to re-experience your best moments, whether in minigames or condos! Replays can be started and stopped by pressing F9, and they can then be watched inside your condo, by checking the 'Replays' tab inside the 'Extras' tab! πΏποΈ
Replays are great for content creators, for "normal people" to share with friends, and for us devs to analyze games, because it's not a static video - you get to move the camera around like in spectator mode! πΉ
β οΈ There's a lot of work left to do on replays. For example, replays don't work well yet in most minigames. Next update we'll hopefully have patched every minigame to fix this. Until then, Blazing Bullets and Condo replays seem to work quite flawlessly!
πΉοΈ Minigame Changes
β’οΈ Parkour Panic
Parkour Panic has historically been the minigame that's both the toughest for noobs, and the easiest for pros. Noobs (literally) die as soon as humanly possible, and pros consistently reach the roof - both of which should be impossible! π€―
How do you make a game harder for pros, while easier for noobs at the same time? Well, today we present yet another attempt at solving the balancing nightmare that is Parkour Panic! π§
To make the game harder for pros, booster pads are now disabled when high above the acid. This makes the game relatively easier for noobs, as they are usually closer to the acid. On top of that, it also makes the game more intense for pros, who have been craving more challenge. πͺ
To make the game even more easier for noobs, we've increased the platform count by ~15%. This will both make platform paths easier to spot, while also allowing noobs to easier find footing when falling from heights - hopefully reducing their death rate. Considering pros already have no trouble finding paths and generally don't fall, they shouldn't be buffed by this. π
We also fixed a rare gamebreaking issue where no platform spawned on a layer whatsoever! πͺ²
Will Parkour Panic finally be balanced? We'll find out by analyzing the data throughout this month. π§
π§ Crumble Crisis
Crumble Crisis has been rebalanced in many ways, ultimately making the game easier again for beginners. That said, we'll be balancing the game in multiplayer LIVE today during the dev session in our Discord. π₯Ά
β½οΈ Football Fever
Balancing is an ever-evolving action, as it depends on the playerbase as much as the minigame itself. Metas and strategies are constantly evolving, and we've noticed players getting too good at being goalkeepers/camping their goals, leading some matches to be concluded in boring ties! π₯±
For this reason, goals now become 10% larger towards the end of the game. πββ‘οΈβ½π₯

π³οΈ The Official Minigame Vote!
With π§ Crumble Crisis nearing finalization, it's about time we look ahead at the future, and you can help us shape it! π€
Our next development cycle will focus on the winner of this poll! Choose wisely:
OPTION A: Rotten Rampage ππ§
Rotten Rampage is infection tag! Zombies are crawling out of graves, donβt get touched or youβll join them. Be the last human standing to win!
OPTION B: Wreckage Wrangle π₯βοΈ
Wreckage Wrangle is destruction derby! All players compete to destroy as much as possible of a sacred temple. The player with the most destruction wins!
OPTION C: Royal Rumble ππ°
Royal Rumble is reverse Explosive Exchange! One player holds a massive crown and gets points every second they're holding it. Steal the crown by walking into them. Most points = win! Imagine an entire lobby running after a single player!
Freefall Frenzy got its first update in months, with a new skyline being the first change since V0.9.6! π Very work-in-progress of course! ποΈ We also changed its minigame thumbnail to be more purplish, to finally be able to distinguish it from Crumble Crisis! ποΈ
π§ Crumble Crisis
Crumble Crisis has been re-balanced, once again, to nerf cheesy boring strategies! The way we've rebalanced it right now should allow for the most varying amount of playstyles to be valid.
Last update we nerfed the heck out of jumping, by making it cause a huge crack in the ice. However, that change made normal, non-cheesy play too difficult, as this also requires some amount of jumping.
This update though, we've changed it so that the size of ice breakage caused by jumping is determined by how you land on the ice. If you keep your horizontal speed high, the crack will be less big. If you land completely still on an ice sheet, it will cause a bigger crack. This is actually physically realistic btw!! π€βοΈ
We also added some detection for whether the ice is connected or not when creating cracks, so jumps will no longer cause cracks on the other side of a chasm. π§
That said, the balancing is currently based on solo-play. Multiplayer balancing will be done live in today's dev play session, which you can join here, every two weeks!

β General Changes
π 2x Coin Reward Boost
As the game has grown over time, there's been more and more goodies to collect and buy. However, we still reward you players like we have to be frugal! No more, I say! πΈπ€
Both these changes should allow the average player to open a new case every 15 minutes of playtime (was 30 minutes before). And as we all know, more rewards = more fun! π€€
π 2x Rank Reward Boost
The more minigames we add, the harder it becomes to rank up in any specific one of them, because your time gets split up over more and more minigames. Since release at 7 minigames, the difficulty of ranking up has doubled, because we now have 14 minigames! π³
Now you and your friends can pick and choose exactly the minigames you like! Want to play only survival games? Pick those! Just wanna hit the disco or play footie? You got it! βοΈ
You can even select no minigames at all, disabling voting altogether, causing fully-random minigames to be served. π§
π§ Crumble Crisis
Crumble Crisis has been rebalanced some more, making it less likely to be cheesed, once again! There is still some cheese strategies that we know of, but we'll be nerfing them further in a later update. π§
We've also added a fence around the ice sheet, to stop you from accidentally getting bounced into the water by our aggressive forcefields! π

π Manipulator Colors

πΉοΈ Minigame Changes
π§ Crumble Crisis
Crumble Crisis has finally been made solo-able, as promised! The style we're going for with Crumble Crisis is the classic snake game, and that one is solo-able too! However, unlike in the classic snake game, you can jump in this one, leading to weird strategies.
We've nerfed a cheesy jumpy strategy somewhat and rewritten the crumbling mechanics from the ground up to allow for this, but we still have a long way to go in terms of balancing! π§
We've also made the crumbled ice easier to see visually, along with many other polishing changes! π§
π Condo Changes
π€ Androids
Got no friends? Me neither! Which is why we've added a way to make your Condo more lively! β¨
Androids are a new Condo "furniture" that comes alive, just like the NPCs in the Hub! They take on the appearance of your Mub at spawn, just like Mannequins, except these brethren will navigate around and talk to each other within the confines of your Condo! π¬ Androids can even be made huge or tiny like all other furniture, allowing you to make a cute pet or even a menacing giant! πΉ
Get Androids today by buying the ensemble, or get lucky opening a furniture crate! ππ¦
π¨ Paint Hotkey (& Donation Mechanic)
Last week we added the Condo furniture painting mechanic, allowing players to spawn colored furniture from their inventory, but we hadn't yet added an ability for players to paint existing furniture. Today we rectify that! β
By pressing the 'Color' hotkey ('C' by default), you can now color already-placed furniture with your currently equipped color, making it easier than ever to paint your existing Condo! π Obviously with it being a hotkey, that hints to visitors being able to paint as well, considering they're able to utilize all other manipulator hotkeys as well. However, a critical reader would ask, "How would that work with color ownership? What if a visitor has a color that the host doesn't?" π€
Webscreen-enabled furniture has always had an inconsistent way of interacting, where it required a clumsy aim-click unlike any other furniture interaction. We've been wanting to adjust this for a long time, but didn't get around to it until now. π€
The webscreen video selector has now been merged into the [ESC]>Settings>Condo tab, which can now be instantly accessed within a Condo by pressing the 'Options' hotkey ('O' by default). πΊ Also, UNLISTED (not private!) videos are now playable on webscreens by entering their URL! β

πΉοΈ Minigame Changes
π§ Crumble Crisis
The Crumble Crisis map was designed back in 2020 before we had size-standards. We've now shrunk the map to match the other maps:
Keeping the crumbling mechanics the same (permanently crumbled) would be problematic at this size: a single player would crumble the entire map in 20 seconds, let alone 16 players! This is why we changed the ice to slowly come back up, creating a "tail" of crumbled ice that follows all players, similar to the classic game Snake! π
This "tail" of ice increases in length over time, therefore dynamically increasing the difficulty of the minigame over time, as is the norm in our games. π«‘
This implementation paves the way for Crumble Crisis to become solo-able, just like the classic Snake game is singleplayer well. We still have a LOT of balancing left to do, so for now it remains multiplayer though! π§
β½οΈ Football Fever
The kick-offs in Football Fever often felt buggy due to players from all sides walking into the ball at the EXACT same time, causing the ball to get stuck in the middle of everyone. To help prevent this, we now shoot the ball into the air at the start of the game, adding a layer of skill to the kick-offs and decreasing the amount of collisions at the start, therefore hopefully reducing weirdness at the start of matches! β½
The possibilities added by this feature are literally endless! Here are some examples: Lights can be colored by painting their secondary color, and if you make the secondary color black, it will turn the lamp off! π‘
Vending Machines and Presents both give gadgets to players upon walking into them, and these gadgets will also be colored accordingly to the paint. π
There's so much more to talk about, but we'll let you experiment with it on your own, have fun! π

π’ Changed Version Numbering
Don't worry, you did not miss update cycles V0.10-V0.13, we simply changed our version numbering system! π§
We realized our major updates have (almost) always coincided with a new minigame release, and so we decided to turn that "coincidence" into an intentional rule, for clarity sake. We now use the major version number to directly signify the number of minigames, so we're skipping from V0.9 to V0.14!
While we're at it, here's our new versioning system explained in its entirety: VA.B.C.D A = Out of early access? B = Minigame count C = Updates in current cycle D = Off-schedule hotfixes
In π§ Crumble Crisis, the ice will disappear from below you, so keep running! Try not to fall in the cracks caused by others, and survive the longest to win. IT'S CRUMBLING TIME! π₯Ά
β οΈ As with all WIP minigames, π§ Crumble Crisis is COMPLETELY unbalanced and will receive big improvements and changes over the coming updates! βοΈ
π‘ Fun fact! Finding this new color identity took 4 whole days of work and we developed algorithmic tools to discover it. As our minigame roster grows and we continue to try to keep them all looking unique, it's getting harder and harder to find unique color identities for minigames w/out stepping on other minigames' color identities. At some point, we even considered making Football Fever yellow-blue! π

β½οΈ Football Fever
Football Fever, our most popular minigame to date, has finally been FINISHED! π₯³β½
π οΈ Ball physics The ping-compensated ball physics from last bi-week's update were an improvement for high-ping players, but a downgrade for low-ping players. Ultimately, when doing ping-compensation there's always a trade-off of some kind, but it was way too rough for low-ping players. So, we've made many improvements to the ball physics to help smooth out the experience! π§
We believe that today's update is a big step in the right direction, but despite being considered finished, the football physics are something we'll continue to improve over time, over many playtests! πͺπ₯Έ
How to do this? Just take a screenshot (F12) in-game at any time (even in minigames), and then spawn a Picture Frame in your Condo at a later moment in the same session! Capture your best minigame wins! π
Also: modders, you know what to do! βοΈ (%localappdata%\MinigameMadness\Saved\TempCameraRoll) β οΈ The old functionality of showcasing the minigame thumbnail of the badge you have equipped remains as well, as long as you've made no captures in that session, or emptied your camera roll by spawning enough Picture Frames.

β½οΈ Football Fever
Football Fever's ball physics have been completely rewritten from the ground up to be deterministic, and therefore predictable, and therefore players with high pings should now have a much better experience!
This change doesn't just affect high-ping players, but also low-ping players. The ball will feel slightly different than you're used to. We're still working out its quirks, and improving it along the way. We hope this is a step in the right direction. If you have any feedback, please reach out!
πͺ² No More Rematch Bugs!
Normally we don't really write about bugs in these news articles, but this feels like it deserves an exception. The longest-standing game-breaking bug in Minigame Madness has finally been rooted out at the core, by rewriting entire chunks of our game's engine! It's the rematch-bug!
This bug has plagued the game since release: if you forced the same minigame twice after another, it often caused all kinds of bugs, from missing objects to unresponsive gameplay. π€
