This long anticipated update brings a huge new shipment of robotic companions to the shop. Each sentry and drone has unique strengths that can turn the tide of battle in your runs!
Need more single target damage for boss fights? Why not pick up a Marksman sentry or Scattershot sentry! Need more AoE for large groups of enemies? Use a Flamethrower drone or a Frostbomb sentry to control those crowds! With so many options to choose from, there's a sentry or drone for every situation!
We've also given some tender care and love to some of the Engineer's items, with a rework to the Experimental micro-rockets and a ton of exciting improvements to some of his legendaries, he is going to be eating good this update!

-We’ve made a handful of optimizations to improve performance across the board- especially in the Abyssal Warden boss fight!

-NEW: The Frostbomb Sentry ⚙️100 scrap This sentry excels into big groups of enemies, it fires high-tech frost bombs that explode on contact, damaging and slowing all enemies hit!
-NEW: The Assault Drone ⚙️160 scrap This heavy duty drone has slower movement and turn speed, but cranks out a barrage of bullets towards any foes that get within its sights!
-NEW: The Missile Drone ⚙️120 scrap This versatile drone fires homing rockets that lock onto nearby enemies, exploding on contact and damaging nearby targets!
-NEW: The Flamethrower Drone ⚙️170 scrap This spicy drone will engulf enemies in scorching flames, extremely effective when enemies are clustered together!

The Commando
This new mercenary relishes every moment in battle, blasting and blowing up anything in his way! Wielding TWO primary weapons that each have a unique ability tied to them, he has the tools to deal with any situation. To play him most effectively, you'll want to make the most out of his passive, using your abilities often to switch weapons and gain massive amounts of adrenaline. The closer you are to the enemies you're fighting, the more adrenaline you'll gain per hit!
-Weapon: Burst Rifle Fires 3 round-bursts of laser projectiles that travel a long distance. The first shot in each burst is perfectly accurate!
-Weapon: Rocket Launcher Fires powerful rocket projectiles that explode on contact. Most effective against enemies that are clumped together.
-Ability: Suppressive Fire Rapidly fire laser rounds that damage and stun all enemies hit.
-Ability: Rocket Barrage Unleash a barrage of swarm rockets that damage and slow all enemies hit.
-Passive: One Man Army Using your ability will cause you to switch to your other weapon and will consume all extra ability charges you have to deal bonus ability damage.
Additionally, you can fill an adrenaline meter by landing hits on enemies, When you fill the meter, you double your TOTAL firerate for a short duration!

PSA: Because of the maximum achievement limit that Steam imposes being capped at 100, only a few of these achievements will be reflected on Steam, but rest assured that all your progress will continue to act like normal in game. To get value out of many of these items, your reactor will need to be under attack often, and since that does not really happen in the first few waves, these items felt like dead weight early on. We've been playtesting this change a lot and it feels great, shops now show you much better options in the early game.
-Heavy Caliber Rounds Weapon explosions will now also benefit from the Heavy Cal Rounds' size increase!
-Rusty Magnet Fixed the item panel showing as blank
-Winchester Shells Will now correctly pierce enemies when Incendiary Shells are active
-Candy Jar This item is now deprioritized by transaction stations that take random inputs from your inventory. You can now safely use them without worry of this item being taken unless it is the only viable input you have. Candymaxxers rejoice!

The Commando is the first mercenary to have benefited from his magic touch, and we hope you like what you hear! Hey everyone!
For this update we wanted to focus on quality of life features, tutorial improvements, and filling a gap in the item roster when it comes to reactor survivability, similar to how we improved the accessibility of area of effect items in the Luck of the Draw update. The goal is to give you more agency when it comes to reactor defense, and letting you make build decisions that have a noticeable payoff later on.
We're also adding a brand new transaction station to the underground: the Hydraulic Press!

Enemies
-Improved consistency for enemies when they have multiple options to target. They will now always prioritize targets in this order: Safety Cone > Brigade Beamers > Player > Reactor
-Sniper 📡 Will now commit to any target they set their beam on. If the target they are aiming at dies or disappears, the attack will be reset. This change massively improves interactions where you are approaching a sniper while they are aiming at something else (like the reactor) only to be met by an untimely quick scope. Now they are much more susceptible to approaches and should be generally way more consistent to fight against!

We had to adjust the numbers a bit to bring it more in line with the amplifying prism, as it can quickly surpass it in damage now! Poison is at its most effective against enemies that take longer to kill.
-Explosive Detonator This item has been reworked! It will now grant a chance on kill for enemies to drop dynamite, use your ability to detonate it

Why do I hear boss music...? The ABYSSAL WARDEN can give you the answer! This massive update brings an intense new boss fight, as well as a ton of boss fight system polish! We've added a lot of art to various aspects of boss fights, including the boss arena environments, the elevator descent loading screen, the boss intro screen, and more! We also made various gameplay and item balancing improvements that we're really excited about, not to mention the addition of a few new items and achievements.

Brace yourself for an intense fight!
General
-NEW BOSS: The ☠️ ABYSSAL WARDEN ☠️ This boss can be encountered in the fourth bossfight after defeating wave 16, and will be quite the formidable foe!
-The new boss introduces a new hazard: Plasma Chains! The boss will try to lock you down in certain sections of the room with these terrifying chains! They will inflict the Sticky debuff if you make ANY contact with them. (Even attempting to roll over them!) The debuff will slow your movement speed and cripple the recharge rate of your combat roll, so even though the debuff does no damage itself, its long duration makes you particularly vulnerable to taking a lot of damage from the boss. Be careful!
-Added new art to the underground boss arenas! Each boss will have a unique environment:

Level 3: Wastewater Pumping Station

-NEW BOSS: The ☠️ FRIGID FROSTBLASTER ☠️ This boss can be encountered in the third bossfight after defeating wave 12, and will be quite the formidable foe!
-New Arena Mechanic: The Steam Release Valve In the Frostblaster's chamber you can find a damaged Control Station that you can repair by spending some scrap. Once repaired you can interact with the big red valve to fill the room with superheated steam, and gain the STEAMY buff!
-New Buff: Steamy ♨️ This buff grants you increased movement speed and a complete immunity to the frostbite debuff!
-Speaking of Steam, we now have fully functional Steam Cloud Saving! Take your progress across multiple devices and leave those manual file transfers in the past!
-Updated the "Snowcone?" achievement OLD: Kill a boss while you're afflicted with the frostbite debuff NEW: Kill the Frostblaster without getting frostbite during the fight
-Updated the visuals of the frostbite debuff, with new particles, screen effects, and even freezing your weapon icon in the bottom left!
Sentries & Drones
-Defense Drone Price scaling per defense drone purchased has been removed Defense drones now take damage when they block projectiles, taking increased damage from more dangerous projectile types. Defense drones start regenerating health after not taking damage for a few seconds, if they take too much damage they explode, becoming disabled for a short while. Disabled defense drones will automatically repair and reenable at full health. You can see the drone's current health level by the indicator light color and visual effects as more damage is taken.
Developer Thoughts: Defense drones have always been held back by their old design. The first drone would be decently balanced, but because they could absorb infinite damage, each acquired drone would have exponential benefits, and as such several limitations had to be placed on the drones, such as the increasing price per defense drone purchased. The biggest flaw was how they limited the design of interesting enemy attacks that used a single projectile. With these adjustments, drones are much more healthy for the game, and should be easier to pick up as a result!

General
-Added new rooms to the underground mines! These rooms are in a new area behind a locked blast door. You can unlock it by defeating the boss and restoring power, or you can force it open early by paying some scrap to do so
-The rooms have interactable objects inside that you can use in various ways, giving you an added level of agency and decision making when it comes to your item builds
Interactable Interface
-Bosses will now drop a keycard upon death (and an extra keycard if defeated without taking any damage during the fight)
-These keycards can be used as a unique currency in the underground, allowing you to access special locked rooms
-The power in the outpost will now properly go out during a powerline disruption!
-The current threat level is now displayed under the small minimap in the top right
-New VFX for Fragile Monocle, Tactical Scope, Sprouting Amber, Ammo Pouch, and Multi-Stimpack Injector

-Reduced the waves per threat level from 5 to 4, now there's a total of 20 waves to beat (previously 25) Our goal is to shorten the total run time of a run, so the game will be quicker hop in to and beat!

-Improved wave spawning mechanics, so now a single wave can dynamically get more challenging as it progresses!
-Minor improvements to enemy health bar functionality, each color of health bar can now hold up to 600 health

This new interactable gives you the ability to remove any item from your inventory at any point in your run! Get rid of a pesky anti-synergistic item, or sell something to gain just enough scrap for a big purchase in the shop!
The Underground Catacombs NOTE: Even though every floor has random rooms and layouts, each floor is guaranteed to have a Medbay room, and each Medbay is guaranteed to have a Medpack Dispenser. This means you always have access to consistent healing before/ after each boss fight!
