Rework Work In Progress

Currently, I'm reworking Zone 1, which means it will be temporarily unavailable. My plan is to divide it into smaller, more manageable sectors (like Zone0). The first sector, (Zone1_Sec1), will include the Old West town and shops. Each sector will be updated as soon as it's ready.

To facilitate this rework, I need to remove all existing assets first. This step is crucial for creating a new landscape that's easier to optimize, especially for distant assets which were challenging in the old layout.

In the upcoming patch, I'll also temporarily relocate the wild animals from Zone 1 to Zone 0. This includes herds of wild boars, wolves, and bear cubs.

When you enter the game, please check the Key Binding settings in the menu. This ensures that the keys reset properly.

However, if you have already entered the game, you might need to press the 'Default' button again for a reset. The 'Default' button is located in the top-left corner.

New Version Update 0.6.0

Hello everyone, version 0.6.0 is now live!



** Since I've upgraded the game from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, I recommend uninstalling the old version and reinstalling the new one for the best experience. **

** And the game now requires more PC resources. Please check the updated system requirements on Steam page to ensure compatibility.

For those who wish to continue playing the previous version, 0.5.2.1, it remains accessible in the "old_build_052" branch, just like version 0.4.1.

To access these versions, go to Steam, right-click on "Mist," select "Properties," and then choose the desired branch.

Feature



Version 0.6.0 introduces numerous reworks and overhauls, which are detailed below:

  • Project migration to Unreal Engine 5.
  • Maps from version 0.4 have been completely reworked from the ground up while retaining the original landmarks and locations.
  • New moving object system.
  • Implementation of a new carry system.
  • Comprehensive vehicle rework.
  • Rework of vehicle tuning.
  • Overhaul of the vehicle customization system.
  • Introduction of a tow system, including caravans, trailers, and carts.
  • Complete rework of all infected and mutant types.

  • New custom build system.
  • Addition of more items and weapons, including a flamethrower.

For now, you can customize your vehicle without using any materials. Just find the vehicle customization NPCs in the Survival Camp. Also, I'll remove debug mode once the turret is added to the SUV.

Upcoming Re-Work feature



  • Zone 1 Map (0.5.2 current map)

    In the upcoming updates, I will be reworking the Zone 1 map. This rework will involve dividing Zone 1 into several sectors, similar to what I did with Zone 0. Each sector will be unlocked and made available as it is completed.

    The objective of these improvements is to elevate the quality Zone 1 to match Zone 0's quality, focusing mainly on landscape enhancements. Key areas like the Old West Town, Radio Station, and Military Outpost will remain unchanged.

  • Companion AI and Pets Overhaul

    I'm currently reworking companion NPCs and pets, encompassing updates to models, animations, and systems. These enhancements are set to undergo testing in the TestBranch soon.

And for the next couple of updates will be all about bug fixes and boosting game performance. Also adding sound effects and various descriptions, items desciptions within the game.

Test Branch Patch #6

Hello Everyone,

This will be the final patch for the Test Branch. I'll be moving it to the Default Branch next month, but all future features and fixes will still be introduced in the Test Branch first. You can continue to test new systems before other players by playing on the Test Branch.

Currently, there are some performance issues in various sectors. Starting with Patch #6, I will begin implementing optimizations to address these concerns. I think there will be two or three more patches before updating to the default branch.

  • re-logic when player exits a vehicle.
  • Fixed : Items no longer remain attached to the pickup truck after being removed.
  • Fixed : Item collision at the back of pickup trucks to prevent any issues between the truck and items.

Test Branch Patch #3

Hello Everyone,
I apologize for the delayed update. I recently took a week off and used that time to identify and address issues that arose after migrating the project to UE5.3. During this process, I discovered a problem with the landscape shader that I haven't resolved yet. The issue occurs when you set Global Illumination Quality to medium or low; the Zone0 landscape shader becomes invisible (though the mesh is still present, the shader isn't visible). i will provide a fix in the next patch.

For a workaround, you can follow these settings:

  • Global Illumination Quality: High
  • Anti-Aliasing Method: TSR
  • Feel free to adjust the Resolution Scale as needed (With TSR, you can reduce the resolution scale to approximately 60~70 without significant loss in visual quality).

And for the new playable zone, mutants, and new buildings, these will be implemented in #4 Patch. Subsequently, #5 Patch will primarily focus on bug fixes and performance.

Bug Fixes

  • Molotov now properly deals damage to the new bandit and infected characters.
  • Can't pickup some props. (pile of rags, hose etc)
  • Lockers turn to the letter 'O' when carried

  • Added: A new Buff System. You can now view active buffs through the icon located in the bottom left corner. The first addition to this system is the 'Endurance Infusion' buff, which is obtained by consuming an Energy drink.

  • Vehicle Tuning Rework: To customize your vehicle, visit the survival camp near Kimiko Camp. In the garage, you will find two Placeholder NPCs: the Part Vendor and the Vehicle Upgrade Mechanic.

    Before upgrading or tuning your car, you must first unlock vehicle parts from the Part Vendor. Additionally, you can enhance your trailer by towing it to your car before parking in the designated yellow marker area.

    Other tuning parts will be implemented in the future, which will include a turret system refactor.

For this patch, you'll need to download approximately 16GB. The previous version was compressed, which would have caused issues with upcoming patches, requiring large downloads for each update. Therefore, I've reverted to the uncompressed version as used previously

  • Add horde spawn system button in dev UI. (You can try it. while in rainy or mist event. Theye will spawn on the road between bandit camp and whitehouse)

Test Branch Code

Hello everyone.

This is a code for access TestBranch : mistsurvival99
(to access test branch go to steam library -> Game icon -> Right click -> Properties -> Betas and add the code)

For this version, it's still pretty rough, and there's not much polish yet. There are still many unfinished areas. Additionally, the NPC doesn't fully utilize all functions yet, such as the infected and Bandit's sound sensing function. (For now, the flamethrower only affects infected, fuel tanks, and propane tanks)

And for systems, areas, and level design that have not yet been implemented, I'll be making additions every week or two. You can check back for the patch every Sunday night.

You can check those playavble area in the map below

  • The Green area are playable
  • The Yellow areas represent the environments that have been set up with 3D assets allowing you to explore and check out the environment, but systems have not been implemented yet
  • The Red areas is an undeveloped areas.




I've added a function in the Debug UI that allows you to spawn a car or trailer and teleport between Z0 and Z1. If you need to gather some resources in Z1, you can use the teleport option to farm them quickly. However, please note that Z1 still uses the old system, and some of the new systems will not be accessible in that zone.

To activate the debug UI, press the '+' button three times quickly. To deactivate it, press the 'i' key twice.



There may be some FPS drops in certain areas, which probably related to item spawns in the jungle. I will address and fix this issue, and the update will be available within a week.

"For recommended in-game FPS, if you require features like 'Lumen' or 'GI,' i recommend selecting the Anti-Alias method 'TSR' and adjusting the resolution scale (around 60-70 should work fine).

To further boost FPS, you can disable 'Lumen'/'GI' by setting them to 'Low'."

** In the current version, you may experience gun animation jitter or shaking due to a limitation with world rebasing. However, I have found a workaround for this issue, and it will be fixed in the next patch
** After fixing some things, I will compile a list of features to be tested in the next patch.
