Hello everyone! This is another small patch to fix a few bugs and introduce a new twist to Time Attack Mode. Make sure to update your game to the latest version for the best experience!
Changes
Game: Added a small limiter in Time Attack mode which prevents you from overflowing the timer. When the timer darkens, Gems will not add to the max time, however the timer will brighten back up after 2 seconds on Slow Game Speed, 1 second on Middle, and ⅔ of a second on Fast.
Bug Fixes
Studio: Fixed a bug that prevented sliders from moving fast keyboard directions were held down
Studio: Fixed Masking setting the background to the wrong colors when Frame or Primary Colors were used for the Negative Color
Maker: Fixed tool cursors remaining active when opening the Save, Open, or Play menus
As always, thank you for playing. Enjoy! - Danny

Version 1.0.11f5 Released
Hello everyone! Today's update is a very quick one with Main Menu fixes and improvements. A lot of these adjustments are based on Steam Deck feedback we've received and have seen in-person. See the patch notes below for details.
Into the Fire
After a long break away from real events, we finally brought Mondrian to MassDiGi's Made in MA party at PAX East! The reception was fantastic and it was tough to even pry the controller away from players' hands. Time Attack was the exclusive game mode for the show, and it resulted in some pretty interesting stats!
The most popular difficulty by far was Relaxing, with >10 entries! Easy came in second with 6 entries, and Medium in third with just 2 entries. Nobody recorded a score for Hard.
The Mean survival time for Relaxing was 91.2 seconds, with a Median of 84 seconds
The Mean survival time for Easy was ALSO 91.2 seconds, with a Median of 100 seconds
The overall Mean survival time was 87.9 seconds, with a Median of 84 seconds
Keep in mind, when you start a game of Time Attack, the timer is set to 60 seconds. This means players were quick enough to pick up on the game's mechanics to survive another 27-31 seconds on average after just a round or two!
It was an excellent time showing off Time Attack to the crowd, and hopefully we can bring the game to more in-person events over the Summer.
Patch Notes
Features
Main Menu: Added directional keyboard controls (A/D + Up/Down) for Exit popup
Changes
Main Menu: Removed tooltip text from Exit popup
Bug Fixes
Main Menu: Fixed D-Pad scrolling on Main Menu
Main Menu: Fixed a bug that would freeze the game on attempting to download Workshop items when Steam was connected but WiFi was not
Main Menu: Fixed cursor style behavior on Exit popup
This May, as always, is shaping up to be a busy one, so expect some more updates, event news, and even a look back at the first year of Mondrian Studio!
Stay creative, and thank you for playing. - Danny

The first Steam Deck-related update for Mondrian is Now Available
The Future is #OnDeck
Greetings everyone! The latest update for Mondrian - Plastic Reality is out. This will begin the slow trickle of updates throughout the rest of the year to achieve the "Runs Great on Steam Deck" verification. The biggest hurdle to overcome for this will be Mondrian Maker, which is currently based entirely on Mouse and Keyboard input. The current plan is to overhaul the entire UI and input code to be more in-line with Mondrian Studio, and create the ultimate interface for creativity on the go.
Since we're well aware of what we've built, we won't be submitting the game for Steam Deck verification until Mondrian Maker is overhauled. However, don't let that stop you from trying out the game anyway! Believe it or not, we don't have a Steam Deck of our own, but would love to get some dedicated testers to send us feedback on game feel, stability, and ideas on what would work best for Mondrian Maker's revamped UI. Please get in touch if you own or have access to a Steam Deck. We'll be happy to set you up with a Lifetime Pass key and access to a dedicated Steam Deck testing branch.
Patch Notes
This patch applies to both Lifetime Pass and Free Admission players. The 1.0.11f2 update mainly adds more dedicated touchscreen controls for Mondrian Studio, but there are even more Steam Deck-centric additions. Here's the full list:
Features
Global: Live Events are now activated outside of game updates. This means you will no longer have to download a patch when any event goes live or ends. You will, however, need to be connected to the internet when the game starts to be able to access some live event features, such as Gala Contest uploads. Some events like Makersmas and Art Hallow’s Eve will still require a patch download for new content.
Menu: Added Steam Deck controller UI as "Modern" under Gameplay Options
Menu: Added controller names to the Input Selector (Colors, Shapes, Silver, Retro, and Modern)
Game: Added Steam Deck control guide to Pause menu
Studio: Added Q and E as tab selection controls
Changes
Menu: Increased font size of Controller Input instructions
Game: You can no longer bring the Pause menu up while story is typing out in Adventure Mode
Story: Fixed incorrect wording in the Level 2 tutorial
Studio: Improved touchscreen functionality for sliders and buttons
Studio: When Masking is set to On, the Negative and Canvas colors will now always switch to Black or White
Bug Fixes
Game: More fixes for the touchscreen pause button
Game: Fixed keyboard controls not appearing in the story dialogue box in Adventure Mode when starting a level if you were, in fact, using keyboard/mouse controls
Studio: Fixed corner logos being behind the negative space in Full Window captures
Studio: Fixed keyboard and controller not being able to scroll to Canvas Fill in the Background Canvas tab
Studio: Fixed a bug that caused all sliders in a single tab to move together when using touchscreens
Maker: Adjusted some Save and Open window conditional ordering to try and fix levels not detecting block numbers
Conclusion
You can probably tell we're really excited about the Steam Deck, and especially what it can bring to the table in terms of content creation. We think Mondrian Maker could be a truly euphoric experience on the platform, and the efforts we put in on the platform will help make Mondrian a more complete package overall (like getting back to "Full Controller Support"). More will be on the way soon, and there's a LOT to get to in 2022. As always, can't wait to see what you create, and thank you for playing. - Danny

It’s no secret we love indie games. We MAKE indie games! So we want to see how much you love indie games too. It’s up to you how you’d like to interpret this prompt. Remake your favorite character? A specific in-game item? Maybe even your favorite indie game logo? It’s completely up to you!
You have until next Friday to submit, and for the first time ever, you can use Mondrian Free Admission to submit your creations. Once you’ve uploaded your creation to Steam Workshop, simply drop a link to it on our Discord in the #gala-submissions channel. Please see this Pinned Thread for full challenge rules.
All eligible Gala entries will receive a Wooden Frame around Thumbnails, sent via the Developer Comments. Of course it wouldn’t be a Mondrian Maker Challenge without some 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, so here’s what’s in store:

Lantana Games Discord VIP Role

1.0.11f1 Patch Notes
Just a small update to get your Sunday going.
Bug Fixes

Gem Chest: Fixed a bug that would cause the game to crash when unlocking the Arcade or Time Attack Top 10 Achievements
Museum: Fixed a bug that caused control icons to stay hovering over paintings when you walked by them
Mondrian Free Admission Now Available!
The long wait is finally over: Mondrian Free Admission is now available on Steam! The free version of Plastic Reality, Free Admission gives you access to Endless mode, a handful of levels, Mondrian Maker, Mondrian Studio, and a small sampling of the background artwork and music that comes with the full game. If you don’t own the game yet, this is the perfect way to dip your toes into the water and see what’s on offer. You can pick it up on the game’s Steam Page.
To see what’s different between Free Admission and the full, lifetime pass version of Mondrian – Plastic Reality, check out the chart below:
Free Admission will be kept up-to-date with the full game, meaning any bug fixes, changes, or in some cases, new features that would affect the full game, will also get updated. While you have full access to the Mondrian Maker and Mondrian Studio suite of tools, you cannot open levels in Mondrian Maker, and your Mondrian Studio creations will be watermarked. You can still upload levels to Steam Workshop, but at the moment they may – MAY – not combine with levels from Lifetime Pass users. It is 100% our intention to let users creations combine in the one Workshop, whether they’re Free Admission or Lifetime Pass users, so if they don’t combine yet, just know we’re doing our due diligence to make that happen.
To celebrate the launch of Free Admission, we’re also offering a 20% discount on the full Lifetime Pass! This sale lasts for one week, until February 11.
New Year, New Mode
To ring in 2022, we’re excited to introduce Time Attack Mode! This new Quick Play mode challenges you to set a high score based on the amount of time you can survive. Grabbing Gems will add a couple seconds to your timer, while losing the ball hits your time with a big penalty. As usual, this all scales dynamically with Game Speed and Difficulty, but the clock always ticks down in real time. You also will not see the Gem Chest in Time Attack mode until the clock hits 0:00.00, with levels instantly loading one after the other, so don’t get too comfortable. The Gems you collect are still usable for decorating your Museum in Adventure, but your final score is based on the amount of time you survive, rounded up to the nearest second.
Like Arcade Mode, Time Attack features Steam Leaderboards, 4 in total (Relaxing, Easy, Medium, Hard). Reach the Top 10 to unlock brand new Steam Achievements! In fact, there are over 40 new Steam Achievements included in this update! Some may unlock the moment you start the game, depending on how much time you’ve put in previously, and others will take some doing because they are tracking brand new stats. Either way, hours of fun await!

Features
Global: Introducing “Free Admission!” This is the official demo version of Mondrian – Plastic Reality. Now, with Free Admission, we are opening up our powerful creative tools to everyone, regardless of budget. We hope you’ll come be a part of our creative community, and make levels and artwork that help shine a positive light on what the game can do.
