Hey Blacksmith's

With the Coronavirus on the loose, I hope everyone is taking all the necessary precautions to avoid getting infected.

This update took a while to fix but its finally here. As always, please continue leaving your bugs and suggestions in the forums or over on our Discord channel.

Changes:

  • A complete overhaul of the weapon attachment system. The system should be more reliable. So, in a nutshell, Players no longer drop parts together to make the weapon/shield. Instead, when the player press and hold “E” the player will hold the object and this will also create a blueprint of the object. If the player looks at another object, and presses “E” again, the connection will be made otherwise, they can place the item wherever they’d like or cancel by right-clicking.
  • New area and building added.
  • Treasure Chest will spawn ores equal to or lower based on your character’s highest equipped metal.
  • All chests now open by left-clicking on them.
  • Clocks can be moved around.
  • Villagers interact with each other.
  • Woodworking bench crafting selection no longer always visible with wood on table.
  • Smelter menu is no longer always visible.
  • Escape button function to go back while in the main menu.
  • Renamed and modified some crystals behavior.
  • Removed the ice Crystal from map. Can only be obtained by other means.
  • Removed the static ledger from table and made it separate and moveable.
  • Removed the sandbox button from the main world menu. Not needed since the game has a proper main menu to allow the player to switch over. Also avoids any issue with saving.
  • Some weapon heads have been locked and now requires finding skill books to unlock. This will affect all future metal/wood creations and Patron items.
  • Torches turned on by default for new games.
  • Increase the size of houses in Castle town. Which decreases how many there are in the area.
  • Additions:
  • New Patron weapon heads.
  • New puzzle to solve.
  • Seeds that can be planted to grow trees.
  • Braziers for future content.
  • Minor additions for future content.
  • Leather chest armor to npc’s..
  • Mining Helmet for the player to wear. Alternative to Lantern.
  • Apron models.
  • Music when sleeping.
  • Limit to crate and sign posts text input..
  • Player position reset button to character sheet.
  • New hammer head. (Must be unlocked).
  • Saved game override confirmation.
  • More context cues to help the player know when they can pick up an object.
  • Sleep length slider decreases while sleeping.


Fixes:

  • Leather gauntlets position on NPC arms.
  • Jumping when the character sheet is open.
  • Switching dagger heads on anvil will eventually create a large axe head.
  • Patron Piecity blade not activating grindstone station properly.
  • Crystal embedded in one tool and equipped makes all tools have crystal fx.
  • Issue with trying to click the “Grip” button on the order sheet.
  • Major ore problem, ores not spawning or not spawning properly.
  • Missing a variety of ore’s in the world including coal and carbon.
  • Torches on/off state not persisting through saved games.
  • Loading in the game with lantern equipped but not visible.
  • Customers needing repairs are grabbing weapons that are not flagged as repaired.
  • Customer and other NPC’s afro being mixed with ponytails and hair buns.
  • Doors. Specifically the Shop door. At some point the door "breaks" and can't be closed anymore.
  • Checkmark button blocked by counter
  • Character Sheet. Unable to see the up arrow buttons for spending skill points.
  • Head bobs while standing still.
  • Created ingots in smeltery not cooling down.
  • Items not spawning in the center of anvil.
  • Broken weapons not needing to be heated to be repaired.
  • Ingots resetting cooldown when picked up.
  • Music transitions to quickly.
  • Lantern shadows.
  • Shelves to high by forge.
  • Save game edit button not working.
  • Most torches are not movable in the shop.
  • Left clicking on seeds does nothing.
  • Heating status text doesn’t update until you look away.
  • Difficulty changing on loaded games. Causing prices to change.
  • Sleeping status not persisting between saves.
  • Alloy heads heating status causing complete failures.
  • Ore veins don't seem to recognize pickaxe strikes.
  • Map hole near bridge.
  • Rotating a held object to view it doesn’t follow camera or player when not longer rotating.
  • Issue with some treasure chest spawning nothing.
  • Two levels of fatigue (now only has one)..
  • Saw UI - UI stays greyed out / wont let you select planks / fails to load entirely.
  • Objects jumping when grabbed.
  • Increase chance to drop seed to 100%.
  • Crate lids being opened when loading into saved games, regardless of previous state when saved.
  • Mining nodes collision detection interfering with using the character sheet.
  • Keys “L” and “X” opening exit menu.
  • Unable to clear save selection. Left Clicking nothing should clear any selection.


Optimizations:

  • Decrease number foliage rendered.
  • When a player triggers the visibility of NPC names.
  • Disabled NPC animation when a player is not looking in their direction.
  • LOD and Distance culling added to a lot of static meshes and actors, including NPC’s.
  • Lowered dynamic shadow draw distance and dynamic shadow cascades (shadow resolution).
  • Small changes to day and night cycle and removed static mesh moons in favor of textured moons rendered into the skyboxes material.

I hope you are all enjoying the new year so far. The game is now updated with lots of fixes.
More fixes are on the way including graphics optimizations. This build also might make your old save files obsolete.

  • Fix - Objects should no longer fall through shelves after loading.
  • Fix - Removed physics when creating a weapon rack.
  • Fix - On story map, pushed out shelves beside forge to fix ingot stacking issues.
  • Fix - Adventurers shield if not initially having the decoration parts are for some reason showing on Adventurer when loading back into the game.
  • Fix - Dropped weapons from the adventurer with bad grips stats.
  • Fix - Missing shelf in the larger shop.
  • Fix - Added physics to certain objects that were on shelves and tables in the larger shop.
  • Fix - Treasure chest grip spawns orientation has been corrected.
  • Fix - Grips rotation when placed on the table should match tables rotation after being rotated.
  • Fix - Legs for church bridge not connected to ground underwater.
  • Fix - Hole in the ground underneath water near the bridge leading to node cavern.
  • Fix - Wagon animal was not set to horse on Story Map.
  • Fix - Bridge to node cavern collision detection issues
  • Fix - Dismount of wagon issues.
  • Fix - Compass North facing the wrong direction.
  • Fix - Compass broken.
  • Fix - New settings file Sound is set to 10000%.
  • Fix - No music or sound in the Sandbox Map.
  • Fix - Direction of auto placed ingots on the shelf were locked to one axis.
  • Fix - Forge heat box detection is off-center.
  • Fix - Ingots start merging after row 3 on shelves with auto-arrange enabled.
  • Fix - Wooden grips and shelves revert back to original color after a few saves and loads.
  • Fix - Collision detection for ground/floor areas with the wagon is not being detected.
  • Fix - Bridge bricks floating above the bridge.
  • Fix - Ore returning to default values on load.
  • Fix - Ore reappearing on mining nodes ON LOAD

  • Added option for shelves to snap ingots into place. Can be toggled in the Options Menu
  • Added shelves color to match planks when created on Wood bench.
  • Added wooden grip color to match planks when created on Wood bench.
  • Added text to guards in order to help identify 1 handed and 2 handed guards.
  • Added holstering for equipped tools. Similar to the lantern. Press the corresponding button to toggle the visibility of the weapon in your hand on and off. As expected, when the tool is holstered, you won’t be able to use the tool until you re-equip it.

  • Fixed possible issue with separating normal and broken weapons on anvil.

  • Fix for Sleep state. They should remain consistent throughout saved games.
  • Fix to rotating head with character sheet open. Turning on Headbob no longer messes up character sheet head rotation.
  • Fixed graphics buttons not being highlighted properly.
  • Fix - Remove FPS min/max cap.
  • GUI changes to the Blade sharpener
  • Ore quality dropped on new mining veins have been adjusted. They now give a random value within their acceptable min and max.
  • All metals no longer have an additional calculation for their quality. They’ve been simplified so the results are more predictable.
  • Double doors now display a “open door” hover text.
  • Wood bench now displays “left Click” when looking at pedal.
  • Information book now displays “left click” hover text.
  • Set character sheet text to white so it can be seen at night
  • Sleeping should (at the moment) no longer autosave.
  • Tweek to horse movement.
  • Changed wagon animal from a deer to a horse. (Deer will be later available again)
  • Large shop available for purchase again.

‘Tis the season to be jolly.
My Little Blacksmith Shop is finally released into Early Access.
Thank you for being patient.

So the game is out, but obviously, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. Since the last update on Itch.io, the focus has been on bug fixing and will always be about getting as many bugs eliminated as possible. But of course, new stuff will be added to keep the game interesting.

Update 0.1.2f

Hey Blacksmith's,

Still getting used to Steams announcements settings. I apologize for the inconsistent update announcements.
Here are the patch notes for this update.


  • Increased Swim speed by 200, reduced buoyancy by 0.3 and slightly increase fluid friction by 0.4 to compensate for the increase swim speed.
  • Added a loop breaker to hopefully prevent multiple save files from being created.
  • Screenshots should now be shown with saves. (unfortunately still not all of them)
  • Adventurer can now save/load with all their equipment.
  • Added Special Thanks to MainMenu
  • Horse speed was set to 0. Set back to default.
  • Added shop sign to new save system
  • Removed Collision box visibility on Grips.
  • Re-compiled the navigation grid in order to fix npc pathfinding into shops.


Game Update 0.1.2d

Hey Blacksmith's,

I would like to apologize for the confusion. The version name for this update in-game says 0.1.2c. It should say 0.1.2d.

Here are the pre-release Steam version update notes.

  • Renamed and fixed Great hammers heads. Jonne's Great hammer should register properly as a great hammer.
  • The socket grip/s can now be paired with crystals.
  • Added a trace beneath the wagon to help reset its position if it finds itself on its side or head. Also hopefully help when it is jittering out of control or flung high above the map.
  • Added a file that allows the game to connect to steam.
  • Minor fix to save manager.
  • Mining node 2.0 should work with save manager
  • The game will unpause then close the exit menu when the game saves
