With fire and wisdom, you fought bravely against the corruption in the Ancestral Forest, opening a secret path to the Sunken Caves.
Archivist, the time has come to write a new chapter of your adventure. New plants, creatures, and inhabitants are waiting for you; some of them, with good intentions.
After reading your feedback and while working on the second biome of Nanotale, we noticed that the Ancestral Forest needed a bit of rework, especially on the tutorial part but also on the general story.
Following this, new dialogues and quests have been implemented, making the experience smoother and more interesting for you, the players.
For that reason, we highly recommend you to start a fresh game before playing the new update in order to avoid any conflict with the new part of the story. The game supports multiple save points.
Of course, the new version of the story will be locked to avoid reproducing the same inconvenience for the final release of the game.
As promised, it's now possible to rebind your keys in Nanotale, allowing you to play with all the keyboard types you want (Dvorak, Colemak, BÉPO,...). Type it your way!
Improvements

The current update of Nanotale will give you access to 3 more hours of gameplay but it's not finished yet. To make it really memorable, we need more time to work on the very last battle of that biome. We are already working on it to make sure that it gets released it in the coming weeks.
We preferred to keep it under development, knowing that it was not perfect and take the time to polish it instead of releasing it on a rush.
Thank you for reading. We hope that you will all enjoy this new chapter of Nanotale.
Please let us know in the forum or on Discord if you encounter any issue with the update.
Have an awesome journey!

Weekly Update #60: We have a date for the next Major Update!
Hi Fox Riders,
Big news! We are happy to announce you that the next update of the game, including the Sunken Caves, will be availble next week ːepipartyː.
We need your help
We are now fixing the last bugs we find, and making sure that all languages are correctly implemented. So, as usual, if you are a Chinese, Japanese, or Korean speaker, your help is really appreciated if you want to help testing it before we release the update.
About your game progression
Another thing I'd like to talk to you about is the fact that we modified a bit the Ancestral Forest (first biome of the game), and we recommend hardly to erase your save file and replay the game from the beginning to make sure you live the whole experience.
Just saying this in case you would like to start a fresh game before we update it.
A few appropriate dialogues
While waiting for the update, here are a few screenshots showing you the cave. As you can see, the dwellers seem to hardly deal with confinement.
That's it for today. Have a great week!
Cheers, -VirginRedemption
Weekly Update #59: Debugging the Sunken Caves
Hi Fox Riders,
Last week we continued to test the game and fix bugs. No doubt, this is what we'll do for the next two weeks before the release of the next biome.
We also managed to send the English script on time for translation and now we are waiting to get it back to start testing the other languages.
During testing, I stopped to capture some interesting part of the Sunken Caves.

That's it for today.
Have a wonderful week.

Weekly Update #58: Mostly coding and bug fixes
Hi Fox Riders,
I am afraid that today's update won't be as sexy as the last ones, as we don't have a lot of visuals for you. Last week we mostly focused on three things:
Coding
Bug Fixing
Implementing the script (story, dialogs, quests,...) in order to test it this week.
So as said, the next step is to test the game, to make sure that the English version is perfect before sending it for translation. I still think we were crazy to localize the early access in all these languages ːepisweatː but the community really deserves it.
Also, our author picked some names from your suggestions for the lore. So, here come the Tamarai and the Munsain Bells (that were called Karaka Bells until someone from the community told us that it was an existing plant ːepifearː)
In the coming weeks I will try to take time to do a short video or to stream the Sunken Caves to show you a bit more of it.
Thank you for reading.
Cheers, VirginRedemption
Weekly Update #57: Almost final screenshot and news for Fox Riders from China
Hi Fox Riders,
It's confinement week 3, here in Belgium, and our team is approaching the deadline for the next big update. Below, a brand new screenshot from the Sunken Caves, showing you the almost final look of the biome.
We are currently finalizing the decor and the story script. Then, we'll try the full script in game in English before sending it for localization. After it's translated, we'll need to invest a little bit more time to test it in the 10 other languages.
As usual, we'll face challenges with languages that doesn't use the Roman alphabet, such as Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Russian, so it would be great if you could help us with that.
We are on BiliBili
Thanks to "打上黑火药" who helped us a lot, we created a BiliBili account. Now, all our Fox Riders from China will also be able to enjoy the videos we post on Steam.
We already uploaded on the channel, the videos from the last posts.
Don't hesitate to follow us: https://space.bilibili.com/526333457
Here's also another element from the lore to name, if you feel inspired.
To finish, I'd like to share that concept art from the Sunken Caves conveying a sense of danger.
That's it for today. Thank you Fox Riders for the support.
Cheers, -VirginRedemption
Weekly Update #56: Can you name that?
Hi Fox Riders,
First of all, I'd like to say Happy Birthday to our first typing game, Epistory! Four years ago, we pushed the release button not knowing if we'd find an audience for it. 4698 reviews later, the game is still overwhelmingly positive on Steam. So, thank you for the support.
If you are a new Fox Rider and never played Epistory, I suggest you to give it a try. There is also a free demo on Steam.
Last week was "complicated" with the confinement and everything, but we managed to work on Nanotale. I can't show you all the work done because it's mostly BIG SPOILERS and I don't want to spoil too much.
Below, you'll see how we created one of the battlegrounds from the Sunken Caves.

And, here's a concept art of a specific element of lore we'd like to have in the cave.
Talking about lore, WE NEED YOU HELP to name the two following plants.
The author suggested names inspired by the four elements (fire, water, stone, air), gemstones and ore.
To finish, we were invited to talk about Nanotale during Houdini Hive. The video is not on youtube yet but you can already watch it on Twitch.

Thank you for reading! Take care!

We are talking about lore and encyclopedia in Nanotale
Hey Fox Riders,
Here's a video that we just had the time to do before confinement. It's about a very important aspect of Nanotale which is the lore and encyclopedia.

Thanks for watching!

Weekly Update #55: Working on the cave while having some fun
Hi Fox Riders,
Last week we continued to work on the caves. With the confinement and everything the deadline for the next biome seems to approach faster than expected ːepisweatː
Here a video teaser showing you a bit more of the Sunken Caves.
[previewyoutube="tpK3_foSVU4;full"]
Meanwhile, a strange "battle" occured on our Discord server between Guillaume, our QA tester and Ruben, one of our devs. Apprently, being stuck at home increased their creativity.
That's it for last week. Thank you for reading.
Cheers, -VirginRedemption
"Le temps d'un café" - When the studio is deserted due to Covid-19

Weekly Update #54: COVID-19 won't stop us from developing the game!
Hi Fox Riders,
We hope that you are all doing OK with the COVID-19 all around us. Some drastic measures were taken by the Belgian Government, such as asking all companies to prioritize remote work, and that's what we do. Nearly all the people from Fishing Cactus work from home now with some shift when some of us really need to be at the studio.
Today starts our first week of remote working. So, here's a little overview of the team spirit, ready to tackle that next biome planned for April.
The following picture is quite a piece of art from one of our developers. It symbolizes the "remote working / No pants working".
And poor QA tester that needed to work from the studio because it would have been really hard to move all the set up he needs to his home.
And now: What did we do last week?
Last week we continued to create elements of decor for the Sunken Caves. We also worked on some battle system that we can't spoil you right now.
Here a new tree for the second biome. It's inspired by Japanese maple trees.
A closer look at the flora from our next biome!
Here you can see the kind of atmosphere we'd like for the second biome. we want it to have more depth so we added different levels/highs to explore.

That's it for today! Don't hesitate to comment if you have questions. #AMA
