🧙♂️Wizard talent trees have been completed! 🔥❄⚡
After much anticipation, we are happy to report that the Wizard tree has been completed! This will allow you to invest talent points in whichever skills you prefer! Wizards have a copious array of skills capable of unleashing destruction on their foes. So which path will you choose?!
The first tree is the Ice Mage, which allows for specialization in spells that do cold damage. Cold damage tend to be more defensive due to its ability to reduce threat, chill targets, and even freeze targets. Will you invest your points in Ice Bolt, Frost Nova, or perhaps Deep Freeze?! Their mastery talent gives your wizard additional armor, health, and ice damage which would make for a wise selection if you want to improve your chance of survival!
The second tree is the Pyromancer, which specializes in unleashing fiery destruction on their foes! Fire Bolt, Fireball, Meteor and even Mana Shall are all intriguing options to consider. Since you can share Mana Shell with your party, you can further boost their elemental resistances, maximum mana, silence resistance, knockback resistance, and mana regeneration! Destruction Mastery even allows you to summon additional meteors from the heavens!
The third tree is the Chaos Mage, a practitioner of lightning and arcane magic skills. Invest points in favorites like Magic Missiles, Chain Lightning, Lightning Bolt, and Mirror Image! Points in Mirror Image will allow you to spike your damage output in exciting new ways! This makes it possible to burst at key moments, with the spells of your choice, when the situation calls for it. Chaos Mage is uniquely equipped to handle groups and single targets with fearsome potency! Give it a try and let us know your results!
Or perhaps you'll decide to spread your talents across multiple trees? That's the beauty of customization in Nevergrind Online! We leave it up to you to decide!
Up next—we turn our attention to the Warlock which wield poison, blood, and dark magic in ways never before seen in Nevergrind Online! Stay tuned! Warlock should be completed within two weeks!
🧙♂️Wizard talents have been completed! Warlock talents up next!
469: Early Access 0.18.69 - September 2, 2023 11:50 AM EST • Wizard talents have been completed! Have fun! 🧙♂️🔥❄⚡ • Adjusted how Wizard's Chain Lightning targets. It will no longer chain hits on a single target, however it will still be very effective against multiples. • Wizard's Frozen Barrier now pops up restored health and mana values. • Templar Mastery talents now have new effects. • Templar buff talents now include group casting. • Shaman's poison damage bonus from their Calamity talent has been fixed. • Druid's Tornado ice damage tooltip (ranked up version) at the Academy is now accurate. • Plus to Hits and Targets from talents is now calculated more smarterer. For example, the Superior talent my start at +0, but get additional targets at 2, 4, 7, 10. Others will get additional hits at 4, 9. I wanted to avoid the free hit/target for a one-point investment and give it a smoother power return per investment. • Slightly reworked the Flurry haste curve for warrior and shadow knight. It should feel slightly faster at max level. • Possibly fixed a bug that caused items to receive the wrong base values. • Fixed a Cleric achievement title from Vicar to High Priest. • Fixed a visual bug with some town NPC artwork at certain screen sizes. Sometimes they didn't fill the container properly. • The log timestamps now default to true instead of false.
Druid Talent Tree Completed! 🐻🔥
Druid talent trees have been completed! So what's in store for the druid? Druids can choose to invest in skills across three trees: Flamecaller, Stormcaller, and Gladewalker.
Flamecaller
Flamecaller specializes mainly in fire skills such as Starfire, Molten Boulder, and Fissure. They can also invest in Mastery: Armageddon which unleashes additional molten boulders on mobs! Superior Toxic Spores even unlocks a debuff that reduces mob fire resistance which benefits the entire party!
Stormcaller
Stormcaller specializes in a blend of lightning, cold and arcane magic to unleash the power of nature on their adversaries. Choose to invest in spells like Lightning Blast, Tornado, and Blizzard! You may even opt to invest points in Mastery: Hurricane, which unleashes additional tornados on your foes!
Gladewalker
Gladewalker tree focuses on protecting the natural forests and groves that druids draw their spiritual power from. They can choose to empower their healing spells such as Nature's Touch or Synthesize or they can opt to be a brawny protector in the form of a powerful Kodiak!
With the completion of Druid talents, the NGO roadmap now shows 5/14 class talent trees completed! So what's next? Next we are planning on completing the Wizard talent tree, so look forward to that—it should be quite explosive! 💥🌠
🐻Druid Talents Have Been Completed!
465: Early Access 0.18.65 - August 18, 2023 2:40 AM EST • Completed the Druid talent tree! 🐻🌳🌲 • Fixed Intrepid Shout's buff effect while in parties. It was breaking party members' armor and resist fear due to how it was calculating the values. • Buffed the armor from the Intrepid Shout talent. • Resist Physical now caps at 75% instead of 50% • The resist physical stat should feel a bit more powerful now. It is now calculated after reduction from armor and buffs such as bulwark or lich form. Stacking armor and resist physical are a great way to improve survivability. Resist physical should work great even for cloth/leather wearers. • Improved how armor reduces damaged. Armor should "feel" better now and actually feel effective to reduce damage. If armor felt like it was not being calculated correctly before, you were probably correct. • Fixed the health on kill value shown for the Sanguine Harvest talent. • Increased run speed in empty hallways.
Shadow Knight Talents Completed!
We just completed the highly anticipated Shadow Knight talent tree! Would you have guessed that Shadow Knight is the most popular class in Nevergrind Online? Despite not being a "meta" class, they are quite popular for many other reasons. We took their popularity into consideration when designing the Shadow Knight—we want players to be thrilled with all of the interesting build possibilities!
Shadow Knights have three talent trees: the doom knight, the blood knight, and the zealot.
The doom knight specializes in arcane spell mastery and have a mastery called "Reaper", which is like a death reaper that wields crescent cleaves and dark spiritual magic to destroy his foes. Behold the Doom Knight talents below:
The blood knight specializes in blood magic. He sustains himself by using powerful absorb magic that drains health from his adversaries. Behold the Blood Knight talents below:
The zealot specializes in a form of combat mastery that utilizes spiritual warfare, plagues, and steel to lay waste to his enemies. This unique blend of mastery keeps his enemies on their heels with few options to slow him down. Behold the Zealot talents below:
Up next will be the Druid talent tree! Expect several interesting builds for healers, molten boulder enthusiasts, and tornado enjoyers alike! At this point, four of fourteen talent trees have been completed which means we are 29% toward completing all talent trees!
So what can you expect once talent trees are completed? The first crucial change is that many items will be updated with the possibility to have +talents to them. And they may appear in a variety of ways. You will see items that have bonuses to individual talents, all talents in a class tree, all class talents, or even ALL talents. Of course, items with +all talents would be quite coveted by all classes! I believe this will make the treasure hunt experience even more exciting!
Shaman Talent Tree Completed! Eleven Classes To Go!
Shadow Knights are up next! Check out the recent patch updates below:
440: Early Access 0.18.40 - July 24, 2023 11:50 PM EST • 🧙♀️Shaman talents have been completed! Enjoy! • Warrior and Templar Superior talents now all cap at 10. This is a rather large change that allows heroes to get more per each talent point. This means that players can invest fewer points for much higher returns. In addition, it allows heroes to invest in a wider range per talents which allows for more interesting rotation possibilities. Upon login your talents will trigger a reset to account for this new talent tree design. • All Superior talents now increase the spirit cost of the skill. Previously, it only affected mana-based skills. Note that the cost quite minor and totally worth it! • Templar ice skill damage was buffed a bit. • Templar's Superior Glacial Spike talent now freezes all targets. • Fixed a bug that caused very low archery auto attack speed for non-rangers. • Warrior's Rupture talent now reduces threat instead of adds it. • Warriors with Titan Mastery can now equip staves off-hand also. • Flurry Warriors are now chill immune. • The time of day cycle is now 24 hours instead of 3. • Added local storage size to the debug screen. • Removed a subtle mob resist bonus when players are lower level than the mob. • Leech, wraith, etc are now less effective at higher difficulties. • Shaman's Poison Nova cooldown was adjusted to 12 seconds. • Buffed Shaman's Vampiric Gaze hp leech effect a bit.
441: Early Access 0.18.41 - July 25, 2023 12:10 AM EST • Fixed Warrior's superior frenzy haste values. • Fixed a bug with adding points to intelligence on Shaman.
442: Early Access 0.18.42 - July 25, 2023 1:35 AM EST • Warrior Flurry haste was buffed up a bit. Thanks for your patience 😎 • Mob health now "smart buffs" based on party composition. It is doing this to account for classes that have their talents finished and classes that don't. This is necessary to help maintain the combat tension throughout this transitional period. Let our large development team know how it feels! • Mob attack speed is now faster in nightmare and hell. It should feel a bit more difficult now. The game was TOO easy thanks to player talents. • Warriors with Titan Mastery that reset their talents and still have their offhand 2H weapon equipped will no longer be able to use skills. • Shaman Scourge should no longer multi-hit in single-target situations.
🛡 Warrior Talents Have Been Completed! ⚔
430: Early Access 0.18.30 - July 16, 2023 4:30 PM EST • All warrior talents are now completed! Have fun! 🛡 • Warrior's Shockwave is now considered a ranged attack and penetrates mob defenses. • Warrior's Primal Stomp now penetrates mob defenses. • Noticed a math problem when calculating damage increased by talents. Adjusted values based on the new common core math algorithms. Even so, Templars still probably feel even more powerful. • Heroes' melee attacks on higher level mobs will now hit more often. Previously there was a severe penalty for being underleveled. The penalty still exists, but it's less severe now. • Fixed the annoying bank overflow scroll behavior thingy. • It's now less common to encounter two battles in a hallway. • Rooms no longer do the scale animation after winning a battle in a hallway (wasn't intended). • Reorganized the debug menu and added some leader info to help with problems joining some games. • Warrior's Jump Strike now has a non-default threat value. • Warrior's Jump Strike has new sound effects. • Improved item equip failure messaging a little bit. You probably won't notice the difference.
Templar Talent Tree Completed! 13 Classes To Go!
After several months of intense development, talent trees are finally in Nevergrind Online! Templars are the first to have a completed talent tree in the game. This will allow heroes to specialize their skills and customize their character in ways that were not previously possible!
Templars have a total of 30 talents, with 10 talents per tree! This allows for a lot of variety in terms of how your hero performs in combat. Each talent tree groups your skills into thematic trees which allow them to hit for more damage, reduce threat, reduce cooldowns, increase effect durations, and even add additional hits! You can even choose to invest talent points in some of your base attributes, so players have a lot of decisions to make!
Templars have three trees: Fanatic, Elementalist, and Visionary.
Fanatics specialize in debuffs, buffs, and support spells. Most talents in the Fanatic tree max out at 10 points instead of 20. This allows players to opt for certain buff talents without spending too many points.
Elementalist tree focuses on boosting Templars' ice and fire spells. Players can choose to focus on fire, ice, or even a mix of both. The capstone talent even adds enhanced fire and ice damage to all fire and ice spells! With 20 points in Superior Frozen Orb, you will add 60% enhanced damage, reduce its cooldown by 48.8%, and add an additional five hits (up from 15) with each cast!
The visionary tree mostly focuses on lightning spells as well as Primordial Sludge, a powerful poison-based debuff spell. The talents in this tree are quite powerful as they add additional damage and hits to your lightning skills! For example, Superior Static Storm allows your skill to hit up to six times on up to five targets! The sixth hit will always hit your primary target which means that it will get hit twice with each cast!
In the future, you can expect to see items that add + to individual talents, + to talent trees, and even + to all talents! This will make itemization options full of interesting choices!
The future of Nevergrind Online is looking bright! Initial feedback has been very positive and I expect that each class can expect to see similar types of talents before the end of 2023! Stay tuned! 😎
🔥❄⚡Templar Talents Have Been Completed! Have Fun!
421: Early Access 0.18.21 - July 8, 2023 9:50 PM EST • Completed Templar talents! Choose your destiny! Since Templars are the only class with talents finished, expect them to be OP until the rest are finished! The game will not be balanced, but hopefully everyone still has fun! 😊😀😎 • You can now reset your talents at the Academy. The talent reset cost increases on a graduated scale with your level. Choose wisely! • Completed the descriptions and tooltips for templar talents. • Added reduced spell resistance to the stats tab. • Town chat is now enabled throughout your dungeon crawl by default. • Improved iconography for the attack symbol in the combat log and the talent sheet. • Fixed the very silly Molten Sigil duration tooltip. • Players now appear in a much cooler order in town. If you stay in a channel for a long time, you'll appear near the top on all clients. • The general options section in the main menu now allow you to select your maximum frame rate. • Delayed combat tooltips are now off by default. • Some values can now be displayed as fractions such as enhanced ice damage could be +15.4%. • Fixed a server-side bug caused by a race condition that caused the shop to not reset its data properly in some cases. • Some skills' random splash targeting logic now has slightly more variety instead of a highly predictable targeting pattern.
