  • New Feature: Nevermind now supports Razer Chroma Nevermind now supports Razer Chroma! For more information on Razer Chroma, please see: http://www.razerzone.com/chroma

Notes and Disclaimers:

  • Performance: Adjusting as Needed
Due to a recent engine upgrade, Nevermind may run more smoothly on some machines, while it may hitch a bit more on others. If you notice decreased performance, please consider lowering the resolution settings under Options>Graphics.

  • Vive: Known Issues
There are a couple of known issues with playing Nevermind on the Vive.

1.) During some scene loads, the game will fade away and the standard SteamVR "VR Room" will briefly appear.

2.) If you launch the game with both controllers on and then turn a controller off mid-game, you may experience odd behavior when interacting with an object. If this occurs, either turn the second controller back on and continue playing with it on OR quit the game and restart it with only one controller on.
We are working on resolving those issues and will post an update as soon as they’re resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience in the meantime.

  • New Sensor Coming Soon: Mionix Naos QG
You may notice that the Mionix Naos QG is displayed in Options>Sensor. Nevermind doesn’t support the QG fully yet - but likely will in our next update!

  • Camera-Based Technology: Optimal Conditions
Camera-based technology such as Affdex or RealSense can be influenced by environmental conditions such as lighting, location relative to the player, and objects in the background. If your camera-based technology hasn’t initialized after a few minutes into the game, please try the following:

    >>>Double-check to ensure sure your camera technology has a good, centered view of your face. Once the technology has initialized, you can refine your positioning further in the Options>Input screen.

    >>>Adjust the lighting in your room. Medium-strength overhead lights tend to work well. Lighting originating from the same height as your face (such as from a desk lamp) can sometimes prove to be problematic - especially if it is reflecting off of something like glasses or if a strong light falls on only one side of your face.

    >>>Ensure there are no other infrared emitting devices in close proximity of the camera technology and that reflective surfaces in the background are minimized.

  • Device Cross-Compatibility:
Many of our devices are compatible with each other. However, some devices are mutually exclusive. Please visit www.nevermindgame.com/tech for the most up-to-date list of device cross-compatibility/incompatibility details.

  • Windows 7 Support:
Nevermind is playable on Windows 7, although it is not fully supported. Windows 7 users may experience some instability.

  • Mio LINK Users:
Mio Link Bluetooth connectivity works only on Windows 8, 8.1, and 10. To pair a Mio LINK with a Windows 7 machine, please use an ANT+ USB stick.

  • Companion App:
To support non-RealSense heart rate devices (e.g. The Mio, Garmin Chest Strap, etc.) on Windows 7, 8, 8.1, & 10 environments, Nevermind makes use of a small companion app called the Nevermind Heartrate Companion. This companion application is opened and closed by the game, and can be found as a taskbar icon next to the clock during play. This companion application uses network protocols to communicate with Nevermind. Because of this, the companion app may cause a security warning on Windows and/or some anti-virus software. We assure you this companion app is completely safe, and you can allow it access to the system's network. There are currently no plans or means to support Bluetooth heart rate devices on Windows 7.

  • Note: Windows 32-bit
Nevermind does not officially support Windows 32-bit machines. That said, we do try to ensure that the experience can run on 32-bit machines. If any Windows 32-bit players experience any instability after this update, please let us know. You can always email us at support@nevermindgame.com

Apple Watch Support & Update on Upcoming NEW Levels

Hi Everyone!

We have one piece of exciting news and an update on our upcoming new Nevermind levels (which will be made available as part of a free update)!

Apple Watch Support!

At long last, Nevermind now supports Apple Watch on all currently available platforms - including Mac and Windows!

To use the Apple Watch as a sensor, all you need to do is:

  1. Download the iPhone Nevermind Companion App
    ( https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id1077209743 )
IMPORTANT: As with all Apple Watch apps, an iPhone 5 or later is required.
  2. Make sure that the Apple Watch app installs alongside it. You may need to go into “Watch” app on your phone to ensure that it has permission to install to your watch.
  3. Launch the app from your phone. Make sure to enable it read Heart Rate data when it asks.
  4. Open up the app on the Watch (if it didn’t open automatically).
  5. Give the Watch app a few moments to start reading your heart rate. You should see it update on the phone shortly thereafter.
  6. Launch Nevermind from your Mac or Windows machine.
  7. When you are done playing, press “Stop” on either the iPhone or Watch app and close the iPhone app completely. If you don’t press “Stop,” the Watch app will keep reading your heart rate in the background and, before you know it, drain your watch’s battery power. Closing out the iPhone app will ensure that it can properly reconnect with the game next time you use it.

We’re so excited to be adding Apple Watch to our family of supported sensors. As always, if you have any questions or run into any issues with it or any of our supported sensors, please email us at support@nevermindgame.com

New Content

The two new Clients for Nevermind are almost ready for Steam - and as soon as they are, we’ll post a major game update that will have the new content, overall remastering/optimization, and additional hardware support! Perhaps there will be even a few more goodies in there as well. :)

We expect to have the new levels ready for Steam in November and will keep all of you posted if it looks like anything will change.

We’re super excited about sharing the new stuff as a FREE update to the game as soon as it’s ready. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to let us know in the comments or email us directly at team@nevermindgame.com

Exciting News!

Great news!

I'm ultra excited to announce that we'll be creating two brand new Nevermind levels!

It goes without saying, but we are thrilled beyond words to be able to expand Nevermind by introducing two new Clients to the Neurostalgia Institute. While we already have a whole host of ideas regarding which of our currently designed levels we’re going to build, there will be, nonetheless, a lot of work ahead of us for the next several months.

The two new levels will become part of the full game - so those who have already purchased Nevermind will be automatically receiving those levels FOR FREE when we make them available on Steam.

Although we would love to share more details regarding level specifics, release dates and the like, we’re still in the early stages of getting everything sorted out - so, we unfortunately won’t have too much to share in the immediate future. That said, rest assured that as soon as we’re ready to say more, we’ll let everyone know. As always, we’ll be working as hard and as fast as we can to make Nevermind the best it can be to ensure that the new content is 100% worth the wait.

We can’t wait for you to meet the Neurostalgia Institute’s newest Clients!

Updates:

  • Upgrade: Unity Engine Update

We’ve recently updated the version of the Unity engine that Nevermind uses. With this comes miscellaneous improvements to performance, visual quality, etc.

You may notice that some parts of Nevermind might look a bit different as a result. Due to the engine upgrade, Nevermind may run more smoothly on some machines, while it may hitch a bit more on others. If you notice decreased performance, please consider lowering the resolution settings under Options>Graphics.

We will be spending the coming weeks continuing to work on optimization and plan to have the game running even better than ever in the not too distant future.

  • Upgrade: Miscellaneous Improvements

We’ve recently made an assortment of tweaks and improvements here and there.

  • Upgrade: Tobii Eye-Tracking Controller Features
We’ve added a little extra pizzaz to some of the Tobii Eye-Tracking features in Nevermind. Let us know what you think!

Highlights from Last Week's V. 01.03.00 Update

  • Experience Nevermind’s biofeedback feature with no separate heart rate sensor!
  • Augment Nevermind’s biofeedback with a heart rate sensor + new Affdex supported technology!
  • Tobii Eye-Tracking functionality - with new, unique content!

Updates:

  • MAJOR NEW FEATURE: “Heart Rate Sensor-less” Emotion-Based Biofeedback

Powered by Affectiva’s Affdex technology, Nevermind can now pick up on emotion-based biofeedback via almost any standard webcam on a min-spec (or higher) Windows or Mac machine. This new technology works a little differently than the way heart rate sensors do in Nevermind. Affectiva’s emotion-sensing software watches facial expressions for signs of emotional reactions. The heart rate sensors, on the other hand, pick up indications of physiological reactions. This difference is important because it means that, when played with both Affdex and a heart rate sensor, the end result is something greater than when played with only one technology alone (more on that below).

Even though each technology’s approach is unique, we’ve tuned our algorithm so that the in-game results are reasonably comparable for most users! Some players may find that they need to tune the sensitivity options (via the Option>Sensor screen) to find the perfect level of responsiveness.

    Affdex + Heart Rate Sensor
If you already have a heart rate sensor, you can combine the power of physiological and emotion-based responsiveness to enjoy an incredibly accurate and reactive Nevermind biofeedback experience! By receiving input on two separate aspects of your unique response to each in-game moment, Nevermind will be able to be more sensitive and have fewer false positives (e.g., the game being unable to distinguish the difference between the excitement of clearing a maze from feelings of stress or fear via pulse alone).

We’re eager to hear everyone’s thoughts on how this new technology is working for them so that we can tune Nevermind’s algorithms and improve the responsiveness even further. Let us know what you think by posting in the forums or emailing us at team@nevermindgame.com at any time.

  • MAJOR NEW FEATURE: Tobii Eye-Tracking Integration

Nevermind now supports eye tracking functionality through the very cool Tobii EyeX technology. When played with a Tobii EyeX eye tracking controller, you will be able to access some new features throughout the entire game as well as one or two brand new surprises within each level.

For example, you’ll be able to do things like pause the game simply by closing your eyes (when things get too intense) or catch a glimpse of what’s around the corner simply by looking toward the edge of the screen.

We will continue to tune and enhance the Tobii integration features in our upcoming updates over the next few weeks. As always, please let us know if you have any feedback!

More about the Tobii EyeX technology can be found here: http://www.tobii.com/xperience/

  • Upgrade: New TableSim Music

The TableSim room is now better than ever with music that will dynamically change depending on which room you end up in. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the TableSim NeuroSpa Room, now is a great time to give it a play and release some stress to the groove of a better-than-ever soundtrack!

  • Upgrade: Performance Optimizations

We’ve made some more optimizations to help improve performance. If you’re playing on a min-spec machine (or above), you may notice some increased smoothness.

  • Bug Fix: Client #251 “Car Maze”

Some of you found a semi-rare but nasty bug in the Car Maze in which the maze wouldn’t properly reload after leaving it (via a save/quit or taking too much damage and being returned to the “Yard” area). This bug has been fixed and shouldn’t create any more trouble. Many thanks to everyone who helped us get to the bottom of this bug and for everyone’s patience as we sorted it out.

Notes and Disclaimers:

Exciting Nevermind Update Coming Next Week!

Hi everyone!

We’ll be launching a pretty cool update next week with some really exciting features!!

Alas, no new levels in this update (if you’re interested, we talk a little bit about where those stand in our recent Kickstarter post here). However, we hope that you’ll be as excited as we are about some of the advancements that are going to be going live in just a few days!

Stay tuned - more very soon! :D

Version: 1.01.57 (update to installer only)

Build Notes for Version 1.01.57 - Installer Update

NOTE: No Sensor is Required.
You do NOT need a biofeedback sensor to play Nevermind. Without a sensor, the biofeedback-specific features will be unavailable, but the core game itself will be fully playable.

Updates:

  • Bug Fix: Trojan Horse False Positive Fix
We have updated the installer (no edits to the game itself have been made for this update) in order to resolve the issue some players were experiencing in which Windows Defender (or another virus scanning program) would flag Nevermind as a trojan horse. We are confident that our sensor code was just being mis-identified as a trojan horse and that the warning was a false positive. And, just to be extra safe, we have quadruple-checked to make sure that Nevermind contains no viruses or trojan horses or anything nasty of that nature.

Note: If any Windows 32-bit players experience any instability after this update, please let us know ( you can always email us at support@nevermindgame.com ).

If anyone has any questions about this update or further concerns about the false positive warning, please feel free to email us at support@nevermindgame.com at any time.

Notes and Disclaimers (same as the previous build notes for version 1.01.57):

  • Flying Mollusk Logo Screen:
The Flying Mollusk logo screen may occasionally linger a little longer than it had before. This rare occurrence has to do with some under the hood stuff that happens at that point in time. While some players may experience this shortly after updating the game, we’ve found that it only happens once and should return to its normal duration afterwards.

  • DirectX 9:
If playing on Windows, DirectX 11 is a minimum requirement (this has been the case since launch). In the past, however, the game could render using DirectX 9 with a lower visual quality. However, due to some of our recent upgrades to several underlying systems within Nevermind, including our update to Unity 5.2.2f1, playing with DirectX 9 will yield significant visual abnormalities in certain levels. We hope to return to supporting basic stability for DirectX 9 in the future, but have no workarounds for this issue at this time.

  • RealSense Indicator on the Options Screen:
In this update, the Options/Sensor screen will show "No Sensor" until it receives an initial pulse reading (which can take a few moments). Once it does, it will display "RealSense." In a future update, we will ensure that the "RealSense" text is displayed on the Options/Sensor screen from the start if a RealSense device is detected.

  • Windows 7 Support:
Nevermind is playable on Windows 7, although it is not fully supported. Windows 7 users may experience some instability.

  • Mio LINK Users:
Bluetooth connectivity works only on Windows 8, 8.1, and 10. At this time, the Mio Link is the only sensor that uses Bluetooth connectivity.

We assure you this companion app is completely safe, and you can allow it access to the system's network. There are currently no plans or means to support Bluetooth heart rate devices on Windows 7.

  • Fear UI:
To see an on-screen indicator of your “fear level,” go into the Options menu and select “Fear UI On.” (Note: option only appears if playing with a supported biofeedback sensor).

  • First Person Control Familiarity:
Nevermind uses standard “first person” controls (WASD/arrows and mouse). Familiarity with this control scheme is recommended.

You do NOT need a biofeedback sensor to play Nevermind. Without a sensor, the biofeedback-specific features will be unavailable, but the core game itself will be fully playable.

Updates:

  • New Content: NeuroSpas
The NeuroSpas are areas designed to both help you calm down after a particularly intense Neuroprobing or real world experience and offer guidance on some ways to try to relax.

For more information about this new content, feel free to read the FAQ posted along with this update!

  • Windows Defender Alert:
Some players have reported receiving a Windows Defender alert when starting Nevermind. This should be a false alarm as we suspect that some of our sensor code is triggering it.

  • Mio LINK Users:
Bluetooth connectivity works only on Windows 8, 8.1, and 10. At this time, the Mio Link is the only sensor that uses Bluetooth connectivity. To pair a Mio LINK with a Windows 7 machine, please use an ANT+ USB stick.

Potential Win 10 PROFESSIONAL EDITION & Nevermind bug with Wild Divine IomPE (11/11/15 Update)

We've recently discovered a possible Nevermind bug that prevents the Wild Divine IomPE from properly connecting to Nevermind on machines with the Windows 10 Professional Edition operating system. NOTE: Windows 10 Home Edition should still work just fine.

UPDATE: We have identified a temporary fix for the issue which requires a driver update. If you are experiencing this issue on Windows 10 Professional, please contact us at support@nevermindgame.com so we can send you the updated driver file.
