Nevermind

Nevermind at IndieCade!!!

We're so excited to be showing off Nevermind at IndieCade this weekend! Nevermind has been selected as a IndieCade Festival 2015 Award Nominee and not only is it up for a number of awards alongside several other incredible games, it will be showcased at the festival itself.

If you’re in the Los Angeles area, please swing by and say hi - the whole team will be there and we’d love to meet you!

Also, during this time, we will unfortunately be unable to respond to questions and support issues as quickly as we'd like. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to being fully back in action on Monday 10/26!

Build Notes for Version 1.01.15

NOTE: No Sensor is Required.
You do NOT need a biofeedback sensor to play Nevermind. Without a sensor, the biofeedback-specific features will be unavailable, but the core game itself will be fully playable.

Updates:

  • Major Bug Fix: Heart Rate Companion App Not Quitting Reliably and Logging Additional Hours Played
Per our announcement last week, shortly after launch we discovered a bug in which the Heart Rate Companion App (a necessary component of Nevermind’s biofeedback capabilities that launches alongside the game) wouldn’t consistently close when the game quit and - as a result - would inadvertently log hours played in the background. We are so sorry for not having caught this earlier and have spent the days since focusing on finding a suitable fix and testing the build to ensure it’s in good shape for this update.

Although we have tested the build extensively already, in our efforts to make this critical bug fix available as soon as possible, it’s possible that there may be some outstanding bugs that will still need to be addressed. If any new issues are discovered, we will be sure to push a follow-up patch in the immediate future to resolve any subsequent issues.

  • Bug Fixes: Controller Input
You can now freely switch between mouse/keyboard and controller input while playing the game. Additionally, Nevermind supports left-handed mouse configurations.

Notes and Disclaimers:

  • Windows 7 Support:
Nevermind is playable on Windows 7, although it is not fully supported. Windows 7 users may experience some instability.

  • Mio LINK Users:
Bluetooth connectivity works only on Windows 8, 8.1, and 10. At this time, the Mio Link is the only sensor that uses Bluetooth connectivity. To pair a Mio LINK with a Windows 7 machine, please use an ANT+ USB stick.

  • Companion App:
To support non-RealSense heart rate devices (e.g. The Mio, Garmin Chest Strap, etc.) on Windows 7, 8, 8.1, & 10 environments, Nevermind makes use of a small companion app called the Nevermind Heartrate Companion. This companion application is opened and closed by the game, and can be found as a taskbar icon next to the clock during play. This companion application uses network protocols to communicate with Nevermind. Because of this, the companion app may cause a security warning on Windows and/or some anti-virus software. We assure you this companion app is completely safe, and you can allow it access to the system's network. There are currently no plans or means to support Bluetooth heart rate devices on Windows 7.

  • Fear UI:
To see an on-screen indicator of your “fear level,” go into the Options menu and select “Fear UI On.” (Note: option only appears if playing with a supported biofeedback sensor).

  • First Person Control Familiarity:
Nevermind uses standard “first person” controls (WASD/arrows and mouse). Familiarity with this control scheme is recommended.

Upcoming Bug Fix: In the Meantime, Please Make Sure the Heart Rate Companion App Closes After Quitting Nevermind

Hey Windows players,

There is a known semi-rare issue where the Heart Rate Companion App (a small side app that launches with the game to enable Bluetooth and ANT+ sensor connectivity) doesn't always close when the game quits.

However, we've only recently been made aware of an issue in which Steam will log "hours played" while this app is open. We are currently dedicating our efforts to create a fix for this and hope to have a patch that will resolve the issue very soon.

In the meantime, please ensure that the app closes by double checking your task manager after you quit playing Nevermind. If it's still open, please force-quit it. Doing so will prevent extra hours being logged for Nevermind.

We're so sorry for having missed this issue earlier and, again, we're doing everything we can now to get a fix out there as soon as we can. If you have any further questions or concerns, please email us at support@nevermindgame.com

Nevermind Soundtrack and Game + OST Bundle Now Available!!

The Nevermind Soundtrack is now available as DLC. Or, if you prefer, you are now able to buy the game and OST together as a discounted bundle!

We apologize for the delay in making this available. If you have already downloaded the game and would rather have downloaded the bundle, feel free to get a refund on the game (through Steam's refund process) and repurchase the bundle option. Again, we're sorry for any inconvenience there.

The music for Nevermind, composed by our very talented Audio Director, Derek Baird, is something very special and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we do.

Soundtrack (and OST+Game Bundle) Coming Very Soon!

As a heads up for all you audiophiles out there, the Nevermind OST will be available very soon!

The soundtrack will be offered both as seperate DLC and via a bundle package with the game (which will be cheaper than buying each separately).

We're super excited about the soundtrack and can't wait to share it with everyone in the very near future!

Nevermind is Now Fully Launched!

It is with great excitement that we have fully launched Nevermind on Steam!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported Nevermind via Early Access by sending us feedback, finding sneaky bugs, leaving positive reviews, and sharing the game with their friends and the gaming community! The game we launched today is infinitely better because of all your input and support.

That said, this is not the end! We will continue to work hard to add more sensors to our list of viable biofeedback devices, support our existing content as needed, and - should all go well - build new content to expand the game even further!

Again, many thanks to all of you in our Early Access community! Here’s to the next leg of Nevermind’s journey!

Best,
Erin and the Nevermind Team

Nevermind Launch Date!

The Nevermind team is incredibly proud and excited to be announcing today that Nevermind will officially launch on Win/Mac via Steam on Tuesday, September 29th!

Many thanks to everyone who has participated in the Steam Early Access version(s) of Nevermind. You have made the game better in so many ways through your feedback, bug reports, and overall support of the project. (And, yes, your Early Access version of the game will automatically convert to the Launched version with no additional purchase needed.)

While this is a major milestone for the game and project, it is in many ways only the beginning. Even after launch, we will continue to work toward supporting more sensors, bringing Nevermind to more platforms and, if the launch does well enough, creating even more content for everyone to enjoy.

BONUS: We’re thrilled to announce that Nevermind is one of the official Award Nominees for IndieCade 2015 amongst a wide variety of incredible Indie titles! Check them all out here!

Thank you so much for your support throughout this journey! Here’s to a very exciting Tuesday ahead!

Erin & the Nevermind Team

Updates on Nevermind’s Launch Timeline

We’re excited to announce that the full version of Nevermind will be launching on Steam later this month!

More details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Windows

Nevermind will continue to fully support Win 8.1 and we’re currently working on bringing Nevermind to Win 10. This version will be available at some point after the launch this month. Nevermind is unofficially supported on Win 7. This means that it generally should work just fine on Win 7, but there may be a few platform-specific bugs here and there that haven’t been caught. If you find any, let us know either via the Discussions forums or directly via email at support@nevermindgame.com.

Oculus Rift

The Oculus Rift version of Nevermind will be available when the Oculus Rift itself will be available to everyone (which will be Q1 of 2016). We’ll be using the extra time to continue the development and optimization of the Rift version of Nevermind to ensure it’s the best experience it can be in virtual reality.

Additional Sensors

We will not be slowing down our R&D efforts to expand Nevermind’s list of supported sensors post-launch. We have some exciting things in the works and, as new sensors become available, we’ll be sure to announce them here.

New Content

Our vision for Nevermind is to continue to create new levels and content after launch and release those new levels on something akin to an episodic basis. Much will, of course, depend on how launch does, but all of the amazing support and feedback we’ve received throughout Early Access has us feeling pretty optimistic.

Thank you for your continued support and here's to an exciting September!
