Patch #1.0.001.1-3



Hello everybody.

We are starting a series of patches of the release build.
So this week we have fixes and balance changes:

1. Gamepad controls in menu fixed
2. German, Italian, Japanese localization issues fixed
3.Extra recipe was removed from the kitchen
4. Fixed a bug with the disappearance of your inventory. If the bug will be repeated again, please write us, but in the event of such a bug, your inventory will be full as well.
5. Characteristics of some potions and amulets were updated.
6. Less loot of twigs
7. More coal and a recipe for coal in the forge.
8. Bosses are stronger and more interesting, but also a lot of new things in their chests.
9. More items in the store.
10. The right exit places from the dungeons of new lands.
11. Tips text to enter Asgard is localized.
12. Lamp recipes and prices were updated.
13. a bug with an invisible enemy to the castle was fixed.
14. Quests in multiplayer were fixed.
15. Increased loot of saltpeter.

If you have DirectX11-12, then try the direct11 beta branch - it can improve the quality of the display of the game. (we hope the new Unity will help us solve this problem too)

UPD: small fix of localization JP, GE, texts 28/09/2018

Hi everyone,

After two years since release through Steam Early Access, finally, the long-awaited official release is there!
During the time in Early Access, we’ve implemented and added a lot of features that were promised. We also considered feedback from you - the players who bought the game in Early Access - and added some things based on your suggestions. Some things we found quite challenging, some things we are going to develop further in the future and something turned out even more fun than expected.

Those who followed the game and the development process, already have an idea of what has been implemented in the game. And for the rest of you out there, I'll try to briefly describe the main changes.

1. We updated the game engine, including multiplayer, so that Chinese players could play.
2. We added new characters and accelerated many animations, and also improved the character control, automating many actions.
3. We developed a fully new interface, made it completely modern and convenient. This was also required to implement the next feature number 4.
4. We have implemented a full controller support for all couch potatoes out there!
5. We changed many mechanics, adding survival and castle assaults with plundering, but now even is you were robbed, you still see everything that is going on in your world on the screen.
6. We added new visual effects: blood, fire and other.
7. We wrote a story and added some NPCs.
8. We added new bosses and mobs. Any scary!
9. Finally, in the release version, we are introducing the remaining two lands - the land of the Eagle and the Dragon. I hope you appreciate the beauty of these locations.
10. We added Korean localization to the game!


Oh, almost forgot - there are 5 new achievements for those of you who like to achieve things :)

I’ve mentioned the main points, the ones I was able to remember from the top of my head. Naturally, there were much more tasks and the solutions were sometimes quite challenging. We are going to continue to improve the game further. We also have some plans and ideas for DLCs, but let’s discuss this at a later point.

We would like to thank everyone who was helping us during these long two years. Everyone who was testing, reporting bugs, suggested their ideas and solutions or sometimes even criticized. Thanks to you all the game got its true appearance.

Players from all around the world have supported the game, so we’ve decided to translate this news into all 11 supported languages!

Hi folks,

I’ve got three great news for you:
1. Our latest bugfixes have turned into a full scale 0.9.024 update. Thanks for all the feedback!
2. The game release is scheduled for September 26th.
3. We are currently working on Korean localization, which will be available on release.


Details on the update:

New features:



1. The Horde has been introduced in the game! Now every few days the Horde will assault your castle. You need to build and fortify it so that the skeletons do not plunder your castle. Just place more weapons in the fortress and you’ll be fine. After the plunder mobs and bots will disappear. Their goal is to loot your castle you, and, well, it's possible to kill you along the way :)
2. Ultimatums will appear very rarely, and there will be enough time to fulfill them. They will demand gifts that you can find in the alchemic workshop. We recommend fulfilling these tasks.
3. We have added various visual effects to mobs and players. Burn them or beat them – it’s a lot of fun :) Also you will see a message stating that a certain effect is applied or received. Bleeding, stun, burning, poisoning and hitting!
4. In single player mode the game is PAUSED once you open the interface! I think this should make everyone happy. Obviously, there is no pause in multiplayer mode.
5. Seeds are now in the consumables section.
6. Character description is added to character selection.
7. New Labor Skills are introduced. Level these up, to spend less satiety on digging and chopping. Check out the skills screen.
8. There will be reports indicating that an item is going to break soon and when something gets broken.
9. While you are cutting down trees or digging, an axe and a pick are displayed under the hot panel.
10. The castle is using its stationary defenses while its its health is over 10%.
11. Hints appear over the character informing about the next action you should perform.
12. From now on you will be able to stun enemies, but you also may be stunned by some enemies.
13. Some effects may have additional effects - check the item description.
14. When skeletons kill you, they return to their places of dislocation, and no longer hang around the corpse

Balance tweaks:



Effect powers of mobs increase along with the difficulty level.
You can now craft Portal Scrolls.
Torch inflicts only little damage, but can ignite most targets.

Actually there have been a lot of balance changes and there is no point in writing everything down: durability of items has been increased, some skills were changed, as well as some recipes and various characteristics of mobs and heroes, including buffs and debuffs. Once again I’d like to thank the players for the feedback, it’s a great aid in balance improvement. We are going to continue balancing, so please keep sharing your thoughts.


Bugfixes:


1. Inventory issues have been fixed.
2. Loot issues have been fixed
3. The portal doesn’t get caved in after an earthquake.
4. Issue with mini-buildings and seed durability has been fixed
5. Various bugs with item durability
6. Various achievements have been fixed
7. Statistics and trophies have been fixed
8. Hel’s appearance has been fixed.
9. Issue with selected items disappearing on window closing has been fixed.
10. You can die on the throne.
11. Woodcutter experience has been fixed in multiplayer mode.

And a few more minor fixes involving GUIs and controls.

thanks for your feedback, we are all reading and looking to improve.
but we also have fixed many different bugs

1. Fixed bugs related to the controlling of the character.
2. If you shoot an arrow, then its damage will be counted. regardless if the animation was interrupted
3. Additional damage to buildings is taken into final damage count.
4. If the resource collection animation is interrupted, the resource will still be collected.
5. fixed controller issues when you crafting workshops and chests.
6. If you are killed on the throne, then you will die for sure :)
7. Fixed bugs with loot some new items. now do not disappear
8. Fixed bug with moving the portal fragment in the chests.
9. Now the porcupines in trophies is taken into account
10. Fixed bugs in the Diplomacy tab.
11. the sensitivity of the controller is improved
12. Added more information about the weapons of the towers.
13. increased the damage from the towers
14. Improved spawning of skeletons on the surface. will become more complicated not only in time but also in your progress as a whole.
15. Localization was fixed.
16. Improved damage calculation.
17. Improved some characteristics of the characters. Soon we'll bring them out to the character selection window. We are working on it.
18. Corrected the bug with picking loot in some places. Write if you meet again.
19. Castle repair is not required until health is more than 90%
20. The debuff of hunger is displayed, when satiety is 0
21. The frugality characteristic is activated, when pumping a miner and a woodcutter you will improve the characteristic. It works like a chance not to waste durability.
22. Improved skills of the characters.
23. Some durability of items, some mobs and their characteristics have been improved.
24. All comments on localization have been corrected.

Today we have two great news.

The biggest update 0.9.023



Greetings to all Niffelheim players,

After 5 months, we are finally ready to release our largest update for the game as of yet. A lot of what has been promised was finally realized. All that is left now is to include a few locations, enable a couple of effects, and we’ll be all set for the game’s release - so the game finally will be released soon. And right now, I'll try to tell you everything that has been implemented during this time, and how much it affected the game. Well, and you can check everything by yourself - so do not hesitate to run the game. Special topic for the update 0.9.023 on our forum.

Global changes



  1. New characters - our Viking is joined by Shaman, Berserker and Valkyrie! Every character has its own advantages, but my current choice is Valkyrie!
  2. New interfaces - completely new and modern. We have considered all your suggestions concerning management and inventory (more space!) I already mentioned these changes before - check out the rest yourself.
  3. Full controller support - we’ve taken all the nuances of control into account, made a lot of improvements, and now you can - or rather you should! - play using a controller. The game displays buttons for PS4, XboxOne, SwitchPro controllers and, of course, Steam Controller. Oh yeah, and my favorite Xbox360 and PS3 Dualshock, too.
  4. Descriptions for all the items in the game - now you can learn a lot about these: how to use them and much more. And if there is no description, it’s implied that the item is self-explanatory - for example, a pinecone is a pinecone! :)
  5. A new combat system including buffs and debuffs - oh, there's so much we've implemented that it would take too much time to cover all the changes - you should play and see for yourself. Some of the most important things - you will see the current active effects on your character; the enemies now have armor and various abilities. So don’t go picking fights, and you can check your stats in the inventory.
  6. All the weapons and ammunition has a new stat: durability. When inflicting or receiving damage you spend the durability of your equipment.
  7. NEW balance - we removed some things from the game, but implemented a more logical balance. We will continue to improve it based on your feedback. Something of the things will return to the game, we also have some new items in the game! But now - new crafting, new prices, and a completely new system of damage and defense.
  8. The seeds and animals, that can be used to produce various items on your farms, now also have durability. Once their durability is depleted, they will disappear.
  9. NEW bosses - meet new trolls and all sorts of evil dead creatures!
  10. TUTORIAL - everyone was waiting for this to happen! 127 000 Steam players added our game to their wish lists - it's time to buy the game! Our tutorial is a journal with 12 topics covering the main features of the game. We will add new topics later on if necessary.
  11. Earthquake - every few days your dungeons will collapse, and the resources and chest in the dungeons will be updated.


Minor improvements



  1. At night, skeletons spawn in the upper world. They won’t attack the castle, but will be looking for you.
  2. New trophies (lamb, porcupine and spider).
  3. New security system for castles. Towers are equipped with stationary weapons with only ammunition supplied later on.
  4. The production process on your farms is shown on a progress bar so you can easily find out how much time is left until the next item.
  5. We’ve added UI tip in the gaming world. These can be disabled in the game settings.
  6. When you equip a full set, the ammunition cells change showing that a set is assembled.
  7. You can immediately unload your inventory or take all items out of a chest at once.
  8. Portal fragments and the dragon statuette are placed in a special bag - there is no interaction with other items whatsoever, so you won’t lose any of them.
  9. Skills are now activated automatically - there are only 7 professions that improve your character. With each level, your character gets +5 HP.
  10. There is an event system that will notify you about what is happening in the world.
  11. In the journal you will see all your tasks, including already completed ones, as well as stories from various NPCs.
  12. The Diplomacy tab shows the statistics of your character, as well as other players.
  13. After death the character receives a permanent debuff, which can stack up to 5 times and is removed only by a Regeneration Potion.
  14. The character bar displays the effects that are active at the moment.
  15. After the damage is dealt, you’ll see the numbers showing the amount of inflicted damage. Yellow numbers depict a critical strike.


As always, we are looking forward to receiving your comments and feedback. The release is very near, we are planning to some improvement to visual effects and complete addition of the remaining two locations. The release date will be announced once we’re done polishing the game :)

0.9.023 in Beta test



Hi everyone,

I’m pleased to inform you that the long-awaited Niffelheim version 0.9.023 is available in the Beta branch. I won’t go into detail on all changes made in the game. Full info will be published with the main version release.

Your old saves will not be included in the new version. But we will keep the 0.9.022 version branch for a while in case you would like to go back and finish the games you’ve already started.

To install Niffelheim version 0.9.023 you have to go to game options, open the Beta tab and choose the version 0.9.023 from the drop-down list. No password is required. Version 0.9.022 will also be available. Game loading will start right after choosing a branch.


This version will be released right after testing, if there are no critical bugs. The release is scheduled in a week.

Please do not worry about the localization. If you encounter any untranslated strings - bu sure that the texts are currently in translation.

This is a totally different game, there are a lot of changes. So I am going to open a separate topic in our forum where you can ask questions.
