Hello everyone! Today we bring you a patch that balances the game and fixes a few bugs. It also introduces new changes on Shrines and Yggdrasil.
Shrines
We have modified how shrines are displayed in runs. Previously, all the Shrines appeared from the beginning. Now, at the start of the game you will have 4 Common Shrines available that can give you Common or Rare relics. After defeating the first boss and returning from Gnöki’s Realm, 2 new Rare Shrines will appear, which will give you Rare or Epic relics. Finally, after defeating the second boss and returning from Gnöki, a new Epic Shrine will appear, which will grant you an Epic relic. The rarity of the Shrines will affect the requirements of each one of them.
With this change you will always have something to do when you return from Gnöki.
Yggdrasil
The Shrine update affects Yggdrasil too. Some power-ups have been modified and some new ones have been added. Above all, the last upgrade in the Buildings branch has been changed, and we are really looking forward for you to try it. With this upgrade, after you complete a Shrine, there will be a 25% chance that the Shrine will activate again, so you can get another reward. PS: it also affects the Ascension Shrine ;)
The last power-up of the Healing branch has also received an upgrade. It can now be upgraded up to level 3, giving one extra resurrection per level.
And… Many of you have been asking for this feature: You’ll be able to save up to 5 different Yggdrasil builds! We hope this helps you a ton!
Balancing
Artifacts
Regarding artifacts, there still be more and more of them and the pool will get bigger and bigger, making it more difficult to get the ones you want. Therefore, we have made the following changes:
When you reroll in Gnöki's Store you will always get a different potion, artifact, rune or chest.
Gnöki's Store will now provide an extra artifact from Happiness level 3 onwards.
Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Poison artifact cards still do not make the impact we’d like to. For now, we have raised their effect probability to 75% (previously 50%). With the next Realm release there will be new elemental synergies and these cards will have a higher power.
The fireball artifact now releases several bursts of fire and more projectiles.
Survivors
Some survivors benefit from certain relics and others are of no use to them. We have made certain relics more likely to appear depending on the survivor you are playing. eg: Thyra will have more relics related to poison, Hafgrim with the 3 elements, Talkôr with gold... This does not mean that the other relics will not appear, but they have less probability to do so. Talkôr has undergone some improvements:
Talkôr has two new relics in his constellation, which we know you're surely like.
His ultimate can now also give you gold or artifacts when used.
Relics
As expected, certain weapons were too OP while others were not reaching the expected results: Axeldör:
Stormbringer: Axe damage upgrades have been reduced.
Iron Hammer: the cooldown has been reduced and the attack speed has been increased.
Thyra:
Poison Bomb: number of projectiles has been increased.
Poison Bomb's Area Expansion Ascension speed has been increased.
Focus effect is clearer. It now affects the character.
Hafgrim:
Thunder Codex: cooldown has been reduced.
Helga:
Book of Stars: cooldown has been reduced and attack speed has been increased.
Tarot deck: reduced the cooldown and the time it takes for each card to appear.
Fixes and improvements:
Artifacts were not working properly. Some of them didn't let you use them and sometimes another one appeared.
Some shaders were not working correctly.
The projectiles of the Alfheim fire slimes were not inflicting damage.
Mama Bat no longer fires projectiles after she’s been defeated.
Mama Bat's dash is easier to dodge.
In some cases, Yggdrasil's Limit Break reroll was not working properly.
The confusion icon now blinks a few moments before it wears off.
Fixed a chest visual bug when you had the free reroll.
Changed how the experience reduction is displayed in Ragnarok Mode.
The obelisk cooldown has been reduced from 180 seconds to 120.
Talkôr's ultimate stopped working when you had every relic.
When Talkôr had a lot of coins (lives) they went over the screen.

Greetings, survivors! This week’s update is focused on new artifacts and many QoL related to UI. Game balancing will have to wait until next week, since we wanted to release first the new Yggdrasil upgrades before making major changes related to characters, relics, etc… We have been also working on the first steps to bring Nordic Ashes to consoles and creating cool merch. New Artifacts!
Card artifacts: it seems like Helga has lost some of her cards. Now you’ll find card artifacts that will apply different effects!
Fireball artifact: cast fireballs around you to kill enemies.
Gold attraction ring: grab all the gold using this new artifact!
Potion attraction ring: collect all the potions scattered around the map with this artifact.
New Yggdrasil upgrades
A new tier with incredible upgrades has arrived to our Yggdrasil tree! Check them out! You will also be able to earn more leaves in exchange for seeds! (woohoo!)
Hafgrim Ultimate
We are aware that Hafgrim’s ultimate is not as powerful as others. We are working to make it as epic as it deserves to be! In the meantime, his ultimate now spins around him so you gain control over it.
QoL
Sindri’s Axe Relic is no longer blue. That way you'll be able to distinguish it from Boss Sindri's one.
Added a loading screen before beginning a run with some tooltips.
Total Fire and Poison damaged are displayed in the end panel.
Active Relics info is now displayed in the end panel. Hover/Select them to see this info.
Credits section added in the settings panel.
Fixes and others
When having +99 gold, after grabbing a relic that granted you more gold, the total amount of gold went back to 99.
Added the Red Super Potion.
Potion qualities have been modified (eg. red potions are now common, blue are rare, etc).
Leaf cost has been reduced for the first levels, making it easier for new players to earn leaves.
Talkôr texts updated in German, Dutch, Korean, Brazilian-Portuguese and Polish.
Minor memory management improvements.

Helloo! We are glad that you liked Talkôr so much! In this minor update we bring you some changes you suggested yesterday/today 😄
To make up for the fact that he doesn't have red hearts, the Goblet will come handy to Talkôr now, as he will come back to life with 15 gold.
Mirror Mirror Relic will duplicate your current gold savings even if this breaks the gold limit. And soon there will be more ways to break this limit with Yggdrasil.
When playing Talkôr, coins on the minimap could be a visual chaos and wouldn’t let you see where enemies were. They are now displayed with the following priority: Enemies > Altars > Artifacts > Potions, Coins, etc.
We have also made the gold coins on the Minimap a bit transparent when you have reached the maximum amount of gold.
You could pick up chests when the game was paused, generating a crash in some cases that prevented you from exiting the game.
Hafgrim’s ultimate had a visual bug.
The Glowing Coin Relic was not being added to the Glossary.

It’s already been two months since we launched Nordic Ashes Early Access! I mean, we feel like we’ve know you for at least a year now! In the previous update we released Svartalfheim and a new game mode, Ragnarok. In today’s update we bring you a new survivor, Talkôr! Wait whaaaat! Those of you who already conquered Svartalfheim will know him. And now, you will have the chance to play as him and crush some enemies!
Talkôr
Unlike the other Survivors, his power lies in gold. He has no heart containers but gold as his source of life. Every time he takes damage, he will lose gold (aka Health Points) and every time he spends money he will lose HP too. Conversely, if he earns gold, he will earn HP. Also, keep in mind life potions or HP Relics have no effect on him!
New Ancestral Relics!
These Relics are related to gold, boosting Talkôr's abilities. Choose well what you want.
Special Weapon!
The weapon Talkôr starts with is a bit special, it only has 1 level. However, it will be boosted according to the amount of gold you have.
Talkôr is not a Nordic Ashes original character but has been with us since the beginning of our journey as developers, being the main character of our first game back in 2016. And we are extremely excited for him to join our team of survivors.

Some fixes:
Character, Realm and Game mode selected are now saved each time you open the game.
Some of you had issues uploading your time to the leaderboard, this should be fixed by now.
Minor performance improvements. We’re still working on performance issues, we´ll do our best to make it run as smooth as possible.

Our main goal for Ragnarok Mode was that all players had the same chances. That's why we have decided it will be unlocked after finishing Svartalfheim on Expert mode. That way, Talkor will be unlocked for everyone, and the game scores will be balanced. We will therefore proceed to remove the scores below 20 minutes. We hope it all makes sense now!
Related to the previous bug, some minions would stand still in the final boss fight.
Fixed a bug where you gained xp when using the ring if you restarted the game.
Some people were having issues saving their progress, as it was saved on disk C. Now it is saved on the same disk where you downloaded the game (This change will not cause any game loss). We have also made the save system more robust. If you still have issues, please contact us and we will help you.
In Ragnarok mode, the Elites and Bosses Healing power was too OP. Now they have a lower percentage of healing.
A bug could appear when buying a Relic and doing Reroll with Woody almost at the same time.
And finally, or so we hope, we have fixed a bug from long ago. Those people who didn't have their glossary updated when they picked up a relic should now have it fixed.
Fixed a bug regarding the amount of leaves spent in Yggdrasil.
Korean alphabet letters were too large.

Svartalfheim Realm
Each Realm is becoming a bit more difficult than the previous one, thanks to the new mechanics they bring. We do not want to spoil you everything, so we'll let you explore Svartalfheim at your own pace. This Realm comes with a new merchant, Talkor, that just settled in Gnöki’s Realm. He will know what to do with all the gold you have gathered before the final boss.
Ragnarok + Leaderboard!
New Ragnarok game mode! If you are open to a greater challenge, this game mode is for you. Face classic elites and bosses with a twist, they now wield powerful abilities! The leaderboard is only available on Ragnarok difficulties and information will only be displayed if you successfully complete a run. Plus, each Survivor has their own leaderboard!.
For now, this game mode will only be available on Midgard. We want to see first impressions and how the game mode evolves before opening it to other realms. Check enemy power descriptions in the Pause Panel.
New content
Yggdrasil
This update also comes with the 5th Yggdrasil Tier! You will be able to unlock it when you reach 100 leaves. Reach new levels of power with these upgrades to challenge the new Ragnarok game mode. The leaf limit that can be achieved with seeds has been increased by 50.
Stats Reroll
New stat reroll enhancement. It will reduce bad luck so you don’t get Duration four times in a row lol (not only Duration, just kidding, it will apply to all stats).
Also, levels 6 and 8 of all weapons have been upgraded being level 6 a Rare - Rare upgrade and level 8 Rare - Epic.
Health & Potions
We have limited the number of hearts that can be obtained to 14. You will have ways to break that limit in the future 😉 The good news is that potions have become smarter. If you have Overhealing activated, you will now be able to take potions until you reach the maximum blue hearts. Also green hearts will have priority over blue hearts. So, if you have the maximum hearts and you pick up a green potion, a blue heart will be swapped into a green one. The same goes for red hearts, which will have priority over any other heart.
Green hearts rework: These hearts will now release xp orbs when broken.
Fire and Poison
The way Burned and Poisoned status effects work has been modified. Burned: Deals damage every half second equal to your burn damage + 5, for 3 seconds. Poisoned: Deals damage equal to the poison damage + 3, which increases exponentially every second, for 3 seconds.
In addition, new Relics have been added to create synergies with these status effects.
Others
2 new kinds of shrines have been added! The Time Shrine and the Level Shrine. New ways to get Relics!
Talkôr will sell you a new kind of item: runes!
Gnöki's store products now have different rarities and prices.
Balancing
Helga was a bit too strong, and possibly she still is. We wanted to balance her ultimate by reducing the value of the stats and limiting the number of stats she can accumulate per level. However, still really broken.
Axeldör, Thyra and Hafgrim's Ultimate stat boost now applies to every Relic, including their Ultimate.
The Minimap has become essential for many players, so we decided to make it available from the beginning. You will be able to upgrade it in Yggdrasil.
Bosses and elites are now displayed in the minimap.
Shrines no longer provide chests.
Status effects can be applied to bosses at last. Note that certain bosses are immune to certain status effects. For example, The Ruined Tyrant is immune to poison. Still, final bosses have no immunities (at least for now).
Burn Damage and Poison Damage passives have been added to M.I.S.S.S.I.N.G.’s constellation.
The performance of the XP ring has been optimized. #NoMoreLag
The Snowflake Relic had almost no impact, so we have improved it to make its power more rewarding.
Flint now also increases your burn damage.
Each new Realm has a higher seed drop.
The length of Midgard Normal (-40%) and Hard (-20%) runs has been reduced. That way it will be more accessible for new players.
To improve performance, a new feature has been added. XP orbs that are close to each other will merge together, providing always the total xp they should give. This way, we drastically reduce the number of xp orbs on screen and improve the game performance.
Fixes
The Ruined Tyrant dash has been fixed to make it easier to see.
Improved how the Relics you have while playing are displayed. You may disable how they are displayed in the settings panel.
Fixed a bug that appeared when you won and died at the same time.
The wave timeline now shows all the elite spawns correctly.
M.I.S.S.I.N.G.'s Relics are no longer duplicated in the Constellation and in the store.
Gnöki's achievements did not appear as completed in some cases.

New character! Next week a new survivor will be released, a Svartalfheim special 😉 A challenging new Survivor to enjoy!
