Hi survivors!

Today’s update is focusing on fixes and translation improvements:

  • Some users have been reporting a stuck loading screen. With this update this shouldn’t occur anymore (or at least less often) and we also created a backup folder that will be storing your previous 3 game data. If there’s still any problem related to this do not hesitate to reach us at suppor@noxfallstudios.com . We will be glad to help you :)
  • Many users are reporting an “infinite scroll” input bug which apparently is being caused by some specific software/drivers from these devices (for example, Synapse from Razer). It may be worth to try and uninstall the drivers to see whether it fixes the issue or not. Anyway we are still working on it to avoid it happening in any case.
  • Fixed an unlikely bug that made the settings panel to display incorrectly.
  • Some Global and Graphic settings weren't correctly working or being saved.
  • New translation added: Brazilian Portuguese. Thanks to MAGNUSnoos!
  • Many corrections languages in:

Svartalfheim News!
Today we bring you some hot news about the next major update! Here's what's coming on February 9th!
We won’t reveal all of the content as we’d like to keep some as a surprise :D

Svartalfheim


This update introduces the third Realm, Svartalfheim! New and powerful minions, Elites and Bosses await you here. In this realm you will find new Relics, Yggdrasil Leaves, a new Survivor and a new Merchant in Gnöki’s Realm! At last, all the gold you earned during the last wave will be useful!


Expert+


For some of you, Expert mode was too easy to conquer.
Don’t worry those who feel Hard is hard enough, for me too (Naya, the game artist).
We know your deep desire to reach your limits and unleash the power of your builds. With this new game mode, you will compete in a Ranking with other players. Will you be able to reach the highest tier?


Fire and Poison


We’ve made a few changes about how these two status effects work. And yes, they will now affect bosses ;)

Shrines, Artifacts and Relics


This expansion comes with new shrines that will allow you to get even more Relics. Also, new Artifacts to make you more powerful in case you need them. And let's not forget about brand new Relics + their Ascensions to complete your build.

Beta


We want to polish this update as best as possible, so we will grant a beta access to those players who wish to try the game before its release. That way we will be able to fix the upcoming issues.
Anyone willing to participate will be able to join through a link we will provide via our Discord channel. Thanks so much in advance! The beta will open 1 week before the major release, that is, February 2nd aka next week!

Greetings Survivors! Today we bring you an update focused on polishing details before releasing Svartalfheim, the new Realm!

Young Helga!


We sometimes like to create content for fun because we really enjoy developing this game. While taking a long walk last Friday, the idea of a skin for Helga popped into our minds. We thought it would be so fun to create a younger version of our Helga, as she’s also a very loved character. Her owls Ase and Eir would be baby birds at that point in Helga’s timeline, and the idea came to life on the weekend! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!



Quality of Life



Ultrawide


We want the game to be as accessible as possible, so we have been working on making it viewable on all kinds of screens, including Ultrawide.

Others



  • Scroll added to the Constellation passive Relics!
  • Ascensions are now available in the Glossary too!
  • Descriptions of how to unlock Ascensions now show the name of the Relic they belong to.
  • You may now delete your progress in the options panel.
  • Game saving and loading has been improved, giving priority to Steam saving to avoid possible game losses.

Translations


Many thanks to our discord community that is helping us to translate the game.

  • New language, Dutch, has been added. Thanks to JenTheBluePanda.
  • German texts in the Interface and Characters have been fixed. Thanks to Grospii, OrkBolg, langehaaregrueneaugen, kev_0gw, m4gerqu4rk, Hestrie and Fridu.

Fixes



  • In some cases, Steam got disconnected while playing and some achievements wouldn’t appear as completed.
  • Yggdrasil: points from certain upgrades couldn’t be removed in some cases.
  • Some upgrades that shouldn’t be available would stay unlocked as the Yggdrasil links were not working properly.
  • Twitch options available in the configuration panel have been improved.
  • Fixed a bug that while standing still with Axeldör's hammer, some projectiles did not fire.

Update v0.7.5.5
Hotfix ready to amend a few issues released in version 0.7.5.

  • The Slingshot Ascension was making runs too laggy and was too OP. We have changed its functionality a little and improved the performance.
  • Twitch functionality has been fixed.
  • When using Axeldör, Thyra and Hafgrim’s skins, stat texts were not working properly.
  • Mouse control was not working in Gnöki’s Realm.
  • Ragnar's Sword Relic sound was not synchronized properly.
  • The game interface is no longer detected when the game is running in background.
  • We have changed the Midgard’s music track. It was causing copyright problems to some Content Creators. We had paid for the license, but for some reason it is penalizing some people. We’re still working on that issue to solve it as soon as possible.

Update v0.7.5
It’s been a whole month since the Early Access launch! You guys have been amazing, thanks for your support and feedback. Also, a warm welcome to all the new vikings that have just joined this wonderful community!

In this update we want bring some important QoL improvements, better performance, survivors balancing, a few bug fixes and… new Ascensions!

Survivors


Axeldör, Thyra and Hafgrim's Ultimate Abilities have been upgraded. Each time you activate their definite ability, they will also receive a stat boost that will last as long as their ulti.
For example, Axeldör's Infinity Whirlwind will now increase his Relic damage by 25/50/100% and his Relic area by 50/100/150%. These boosts will only be applied to the character’s Relics, not to the Ultimate’s stats.


Hafgrim's Fjölkyngi Staff AI has been improved, being now able to target the same enemy with different projectiles.
In addition, one of his constellation restrictions has been removed. That way, you’ll be able to go to both left and right passive branches.

Thyra also got a rework. Her passives were limited to Bows, Daggers and Bombs, now they are not, making her more flexible and rewarding to create powerful builds. This improvement will also boost the Secret Character’s builds.

Ascensions


Weapons you bought from Gnöki were always a nice addition, but maybe not strong enough, they lacked Ascensions... So, we chatted with the Norse Gods and they finally agreed to add Ascensions to these weapons too!! Can’t wait for you to use Ascension crystals and try them out!
Sadly, winter Relics did not get an Ascension. It’s a secret, but someone told us they will next time they pop up for future winter seasons.


Quality of Life


Settings


We have improved and added new features to the Settings panel. You may customize it as you wish:

  • Choose enemy attacks color.
  • New option to see enemy attacks on the top layer.
  • Visual effects alpha option.
  • Camera shake amount.
  • Move your character using the mouse (this option disables moving with the keyboard).
  • FPS rate.

Glossary


Many of you have been asking for this upgrade! Each time you approach a Relic, you’ll be able to see its description. This way you can know what each Relic does before you grab it.
An option has been added to the settings panel to remove this aid in case you don’t need it.


Others



  • Obelisk cooldown now starts right after you pick up its buff.
  • Active Relics such as the Dancing Spear can now appear in Altars.
  • When collected, every Active Relic will start at Level 5. (In future Yggdrasil updates, you’ll able to increase this level).
  • Once you have defeated a boss for the first time, it will drop some seeds. The amount of seeds you earn will depend on the amount time you take to defeat it.
  • The number of leaves that can be obtained to upgrade Yggdrasil has been increased by 10.
  • Restart button has been added to de Pause menu.

Fixes



  • Overheal was not working properly.
  • XP multiplier stat was not being applied when collecting experience.
  • Tarot Deck now hits elites.
  • Åse's feathers were sometimes not damaging enemies.
  • Fixed a problem with data saving that caused a loss of progress on very rare occasions.
  • Eir's Freezing Path Ascension stopped working when you went to Gnöki’s Realm.
  • RNG Tonic didn’t show which stat was boosted in some cases.


Future update!


Some of you are starting to accumulate too many seeds and they will finally come in handy in this future update! The only thing we can say is that Expert+ mode is nearer and nearer. In this new mode, you’ll be able to decide how strong enemies are and see how far you can go.

Update v0.7.4
This update means a lot to us. We are extremely happy to introduce you to a new survivor with very interesting mechanics and new gameplay. She’s a character we've been wanting to develop for a long time now and that has been through many design changes.
We also wanted to bring you more QoL changes, but with the holidays we have not been able to program as much as we wanted. However, we’re sure you’ll love our new granny!

Helga joined our team!


Also known as the "Mama of all", no one knows when she was born, but what everybody is certain about is that she is always there whenever you need. Her mystic powers are no joke.


Unique Passive!


Unlike other characters that start with base stats, Helga will have a buff depending on Viking astrology runes. Every two weeks, the Norse rune zodiac changes, changing Helga’s buffs too! Furthermore, this effect will be increased the more red hearts she has.

New Relics!


Helga brings a total of 10 new Ancestral Relics. 5 weapons, 4 passives and her ultimate. However, Helga won’t unlock new Relics when defeating Hard or Expert modes, that will come in future updates.


More leaves!


The arrival of a new character also means new leaves!

We have reduced the number of leaves required to unlock Yggdrasil tiers.
We’ve read your suggestions and concerns, and we are happy to say more balancing updates are coming soon!

Update v0.7.3
It has been 2 weeks since the launch of Nordic Ashes Early Access! Time goes by so fast hahaha. In this update we bring new content you were asking for, like the Minimap! Along with some fun Winter Relics and the 4th Yggdrasil Tier. We still have many suggestions to develop, and they will come in future updates.

Minimap!


To help you find those items you hear drop but can´t see or want to save for later, we have added a Minimap!
You can now unlock the Minimap in Yggdrasil to help you find potions and gold. You will be able to upgrade it to get more information.


Winter Relics!


With the arrival of Winter, 3 new Relics have landed on every realm. These will be available until January 15th.
In addition to being available on Gnöki’s shop, they will also appear on shrines.


Yggdrasil Level 4


We've added a new Yggdrasil Tier to give you even more variety in your run customization.
Therefore, we have increased the limit of leaves that can be obtained per seed so you can get more upgrades.


Improvements



  • Changed Gnöki's happiness bar from red to orange. That way it won’t look like you're hurting our dear adorable friend.
  • You can now improve the number of obelisks and the duration of their effects in Yggdrasil.
  • The light beam duration of the drops has been increased to 15 seconds.
  • Performance improvements.

Game Balance



  • Overheal has been modified. It will now be divided into levels and the maximum number of blue hearts you can get will be limited.
  • Our Fairy lady Astrid was healing a little too much, now she doesn’t.
  • While fighting a boss, crates will only drop potions and artifacts.


Fixed Issues



  • Although we found quite funny the bug of arrows appearing on the main menu, it has been fixed.
  • Thyra's Focus was not working correctly in some cases.
  • Glitch disappeared in some cases from the screen (oddly enough xD).
  • We have fixed some text errors that did not appear in certain languages.
  • Graphic bug with the Obelisk icons.
  • In some cases, if you bought a Relic from Gnöki and then hit reroll with Woody, you could lose the Relic you had bought.
  • Something similar happened in the Altars when you went to Gnöki's realm.
  • The Steam Coupon achievement is now achievable.


Our secret M.I.S.S.I.N.G. survivor was missing some unique ascensions❓

What's next?


With this patch we wanted to solve the main issues we had in front of us. Now we are going to focus on new content for Nordic Ashes!
Next update will be the new character. We’re sure she’ll be a big surprise!

Update v0.7.2
Hi everyone! Let's go for the second update after the Early Access launch. This one brings new content related to Yggdrasil that many of you were asking for, in addition to some bug fixes and Quality of Life (QoL) improvements.

Yggdrasil Seeds!


From now on, enemies may drop Yggdrasil seeds. You can then exchange these seeds to obtain Yggdrasil leaves to improve your meta-progress.

The difficulty of the game also influences the drop probability of the enemies. The higher the difficulty, the more likely it is that seeds will drop. This will allow you to earn new leaves whether you complete the run or not ;)

To thank those players who have been with us since the beginning, we are going to give you some seeds according to the amount of time you have played the game.

Yggdrasil Level 3


With the arrival of the Yggdrasil seeds, our tree has grown a ton, and a 3rd level will be available bringing new powerful upgrades.


Some QoL improvements



  • Life and quantity of enemies in Hard mode have been reduced.
  • The Sacrifice Altar range has been increased in size.
  • The glossary has been reorganized to improve the visualization of relics.
  • When you exit the game, you will now be asked for confirmation.
  • We have negotiated with Gnöki. It has been tough, but we eventually managed to convince him. It will be easier to increase his happiness from now on.
  • In addition, you will now be able to see Gnöki's happiness progress bar.
  • We have improved the visual information of Yggdrasil's upgrades so you can check which ones are upgraded and which are not.
  • You can now add or remove upgrades more easily in the Yggdrasil panel.

Fixed issues



  • Fixed an issue when collecting two or more chests at the same time.
  • Gnöki’s happiness at level 3 was showing only 3 purchase options instead of 4.
  • The Electric Rune Relic disappeared when entering Gnöki's Realm.
  • There was a bug with the Glitch Relic that made it disappear (makes sense hahaha).
  • Fixed sound bugs that kept sounds looping even with the volume turned off.
  • Fixed some text bugs.
  • Fixed some Astrid projectiles that interacted as if they were enemies.

Update v0.7.1
Hello everyone! This is the first update after the Early Access launch. It mostly covers bugs or Quality of Life (QoL) improvements.

Play offline


We have removed the server connection that prevented the game from being played offline. Now everyone can enjoy the game at any time either online or offline.

Some QoL improvements.



  • Regarding the the Glossary, you may now hide all the relics you have already obtained.
  • In the Achievements panel, you may also hide those you have already obtained.
  • And finally, we have added in the Yggdrasil panel a new button that allows you to see how to get the leaves and how many there are. You will also be able to hide the ones you have already obtained.
  • You can now move the character with the arrow keys.
  • Potions, coins and artifacts now have a light halo the moment they drop. This allows to better track where the drop has fallen.
  • 16:10 resolutions have been added to the game. This is to improve the Steam Deck experience and screens that use that resolution. We are working on making it compatible with more resolutions.

Fixed issues



  • Axeldor's hammer attack was not too visible. We have updated the hue to give it more contrast.
  • The option to remove controller vibration was reversed in the options panel, it should now work fine.
  • The Crystal Soul Relic was being unlocked on Normal mode when it should have been on Hard or higher.
  • A visual error in numeric texts with more than 3 digits has been fixed.
  • The Ruined Slime stayed far away from you and you could lose track it if you ran away from it.
  • Other minor code issues.
