Combat Update
General units modifications
When entering an area, there is now a cooldown 0.8 seconds before being able to strike a hit, this will prevent tile dancing!
You can now see every unit in a multiple unit selection, with their individual life bar
In this group panel, you can select all the units from a special type by CTRL+click on one of the units
When fighting, the military units now have color circles beneath them to increase fight clarity
Redesign of the unit life-bars
There are now 3 different stats for each units (before patch, Health Points & Resistance were combined in only one stat):
Attack
Health points
Resistance
Modification of units upgrades
Upgrading the Traning Camp, the Shield Bearer Camp and the Axe Thrower Camp now grants a boost in attack (10%) instead of defense
Upgrading the WatchTower will increase its health by 100% (50% before the patch) and its attack power by 100% (0% before the patch)
The AI now upgrades its units tools
In the tool upgrade tab, military units now have brand new abilities:
When upgrading the Warrior, he will gain 15% attack power and a charging ability. This ability will allow him to sprint towards his enemies.
When upgrading the Shield Bearer, he will have his protection against ranged attacks doubled, and his resistance will be increased by 20%
When upgrading the AxeThrower, he will gain 30% in range and attack power
Military units modifications
The Berserker Heath has been reduced by 30% and its Defense has been increased by 30%. This won’t change anything in the balance of the game, the modification only objective is to make the code smoother :)
The Shieldmaiden’s defense had been increased by 7%
The Armored Bear’s defense has been raised by 20% and its Health by 7%
The Axe thrower base attack is reduced by 15% and their base range is reduced by 30%
The ShiedBearer’s arrow resist ability is reduced from 50% to 20%
The Mercenaries have been modified:
Their attack has been increased by 10%
Their defense has been reduced by 55%
Sending mercenaries will now summon 4 units (3 before patch)
PVE units modifications
The Wolf attack has been raised by 15%
The Bear defense has been increased by 20% and its Health by 7%
BIG CHANGES on Draugrs:
Their health has been raised by 20%
There are now 3 different types of Draugr:
The melee draugr
The Spear Thrower Draugr ⇒ launches spears
The Shield Draugr ⇒ has a 20% resistance against AxeThrowers and Towers Arrows
The Valkyries are much more stronger now:
Their attack has been raised by 25%
Their Defense has been raised by 33%
Their Health has been increased by 15%
Other modifications
The wood production bonus provided by a forest drops from 20% to 10%
The lore production bonus provided by the Circle of Lorestone drops from 20% to 10%
Killing the Wyvern now grants 250 fame to every ally in the team
Young & Proud and Gear Upgrade now have precise description
It is now possible to upgrade a tool if the building of the unit is built, even there are no units.
Better repartition of resources surrounding landing site
Tiles containing Stone and Iron mines surrounding the player’s landing site will be less difficult to colonize (no bear or draugr to defend them)
Players in MP games now won’t have more than 2 Pauses available, after 30 seconds, each of the players can unpause the game
Scouts are not allowed to scout enemy territory (another player or AI) unless the scout camp is upgraded
Bug fixing
Two player should not be able to spawn next to one another
The repair of a WatchTower stops when it is attacked (but not when enemy units enter the area
The Achievements issues should now be fixed!

Patch notes #14 - v0.2.5876
Hello Northgardians!
As planned, this patch will mainly correct some disturbing bugs, and change some aspects of the balance between clans!
Here is the detail of what we've changed :-)
Clan Balancing
Clan of the Goat - Buff
Sheepfold costs now 60 Wood instead of 80
Barricades increase the villagers resistance by 30% instead of 20%
Team Work (Fame 2) now also grants you a free fest
Clan of the Bear - Buff
Food production loss in winter is reduced to 30% instead of 20% (Fame 0). This bonus now also affects wood consumption
Fame 2 : You'll win less fame by unit killed (5->3) but for each 100 fame points, the bear military units gain 1% power (when reaching 500 fame, the player will get a 5% bonus power, going up from there)
Winter festival reduction loss of food during winter goes from 10 to 30%
Clan fo the Raven - Buff
With the Ranger tech, the raven's scout can no longer be hurt and consume no food
Mercenaries have higher resistance (+15%)
The colonization of new tiles by spending Krowns is cheaper (you needed to spend 50% of the food cost when colonizing with Krowns, this ratio is now 40%)
The mercenaries also loot ressources from the tiles they attack (depending on the tile, there will be a little icon to show which ressource you'll get)
60 food if raid on empty tiles
80 food if raid a food providing tile (fish, deer, farm)
5 iron or 5 stone if raid on iron or stone providing tile
50 lore if raid on lore providing tile
Clan of the Wolf - Nerf
The wild animal will give less food ==> 20 for wolves instead of 30 & 140 for bears instead of 150
The happiness provided by a military unit came from 1 to 0.5 (you will need 2 units to get 1 happiness)
Bug fixing & other modifications
There is now a cooldown when breaking an attack (prevent hammering and animation skipping)
We enhanced the animation synchronization, fixing the damage bugs where different animation dealt different amounts of damages.
Farmer, miner and smith get +10% attack bonus
The scout camps upgrade stone cost has been halved (5 Stone instead of 10)
We added color variants for the giants, the wolves and the deers

PATCH NOTE #13 - the Clan of the Bear - v0.2.5526
Hello Northgardians!
A new MAJOR update has been pushed to Northgard and we are incredibly proud to present to you The Clan of the Bear!
The Clan of the Bear:
Stalwart protector of the land, the clan of Bjarki is home to the most resilient warriors. Hailing from the northern reaches of the realm, they are also very well suited to survive the harsh winters of Northgard.

Playing with the Clan of the Bear will allow you to have access to two new and unique units:
The Armored Bear is a powerful defensive unit that cannot enter enemy territory. However, its summoning cost being quite low (50 food), and its armor level quite high, it is the perfect unit to clear the territories surrounding your landing area early in the game.
The Shield Maiden replaces the Warchief of the other clans. She is a stalwart defender of her people and the reason the Clan of the Bear will never falter! In comparison with the other Warchiefs, she has a lower attack ratio but a tremendous defense that will allow her to lead her armies and survive until victory is hers!

We’re not going to say a lot more in this post, as you would have noticed we just pushed the update to you. So go… update, test, discover! Let us know what you think, we’re sure that you’ll want to find out how well we managed to balance the clan, and we’d love to hear your feedback on how we did.

We studied the balance in the game and made a few changes in the other clans specificities. Here are a few tweaks that we’ve made that should change the way you play a little.

Without you guys we wouldn’t be thinking so ambitiously about our future plans for multiplayer, adding more mechanics and generally pushing the game a lot further.

Patch notes #12 : Player Profile and Strategic Map v0.1.5155
Hey everyone!
It's time for another patch for Northgard and another step towards v1.0!
On the menu today, we have:
Player Profile:
We have added a new Profile section in the main menu where you will find some statistics about the games you've played. These stats come with their obligatory Steam achievements of course, so have fun unlocking them! Please note that we will only start recording your stats from this patch on so previous victories will not appear.
Your rank will also be shown in multiplayer mode so you'll know if you're going into a match with other experienced players or not.
Strategic Map:
We've added a new set of buttons to the mini-map.
One allows you to toggle the display mode between resources (the default) and strategy, which will show all players' visible warband units and defense towers, allowing you to understand enemy positions and movements when things are heating up.
Other UI changes:
We made additional changes to the user interface:
Fixed a bug that was preventing people from clicking buttons on the end of game replay screen.
On military buildings (Training Camp, etc.) you can now toggle a "rally to Warchief" option. This means that once trained, the warrior will move directly to the current Warchief position.
Victory progress: we've put the fame score for other players/AI back however now their victory progress will only start showing when they reach 75%. You can still view current progress through the victory progress screen.
You can no longer see the icon of unmet clans on the victory progress screen.
You can now select your entire warband with a single click using the new button that has been added to your unit list.
DirectX Beta:
A fair few of you have reported some serious crashes or were simply not able to start the game at all. Based on your feedback it seems this was due to some faulty OpenGL drivers, and some graphics card manufacturers which didn't push updates to address this.
Over the past few weeks we've been working on a DirectX version designed specifically to solve these problems. This is now available to test through a beta branch of the game.
In order to test out the new version, right click on Northgard in your steam games library, then go to Properties, select the Beta tab and choose the DirectX Beta version. Wait the game to update and start it.
If DirectX Beta does not show in the beta list, restart steam to update it.
You can tell which version you are running by looking at the version (DirectX or OpenGL) showing at the bottom right of the title screen.
Please report any issue you might have with this version, depending on the feedback we might make it the default in our next patch.
Anti-Cheating:
We have received our first reports of some people cheating in game. Please keep in mind that Northgard is not using dedicated servers so we can't guarantee a 100% cheating free experience.
That being said, we have put in place some measures to prevent the most obvious ways of cheating, we hope that this will be enough to discourage the cheaters, although as you know, there's one in every crowd...
AI Improvements:
We have started working more seriously on AI, with the goal of having a very strong and challenging AI in Hard Mode. We only started a few days ago but we will keep you posted on how things are going.
Other changes:
We made numerous other changes and little fixes, here are the most important ones:
Prevented axe throwers and hunters from continuing to fire when a target is out of range (no more axes going across an entire tile!)
Fixed display of some global bonuses in attack/defense if you are not host in multiplayer (the bonus was previously correctly applied, but not displayed properly).
Added new dedicated skins to the buildings for training axe throwers and shield bearers.
Fixed bug where sometimes you could not place a field on fertile land.
Sailors Lore production is back to +1 instead of +1.5.
Circle of Stones Lore bonus is now +30% instead of +50%.
Amount of food traded to have the Giants join you has been reduced by 20%.
Ship Building wisdom is now +30% instead of +50%.
Coinage is now +20% instead of +30%.
Gear Upgrade and Young and Proud are now maxed to +25% bonus.
Young and Proud now replaces Sharp Weapons instead of Defensive Strategy.
End nerf-fest.

As you know from our last post we're hard at work on a bunch of fixes and new little features designed to make Northgard better and better for everyone! We're hoping to push out the patch during the week, but if we have time there might even be a little extra...
You can see one of the major changes in the screen just below... It's small but should be quite significant! More info to come!
As we mentioned we're working on the Direct X version of the game to help out people with the issues surrounding Intel HD cards. If we have time this week we would like to open up a voluntary beta branch, so that the braver members of the community can help us out with testing. Even if we can't we just wanted to let you know we're hard at work on all game breaking bugs.
That's all we'll say for now as we'll save the detailed information for when we do manage to push out the patch.

Technical update v0.2.5023
Hi there!
First the whole team would like to thank all of you for the successful launch of the multiplayer!
Many of your are playing day and night and we have received a lot of positive feedback and improvements suggestions. It will take some time to process everything and patch the game, so thanks in advance for your patience!
Meanwhile, we are currently focusing on solving the remaining technical problems to provide the best possible experience.
Out of Memory
We have been working hard at solving this issue, it's not an easy one as it involves some crazy words such as "Address space layout randomization" and "Address space fragmentation"
This new patch provides some improvements in that area, we hope it will definitely fix the problem, please report to us if you're still experimenting "Out of memory" error messages.
Game doesn't start
The current version of Northgard uses OpenGL for 3D rendering. We found that some of you have some errors at game startup, in particular if you have an Intel HD graphics card which is quite common on laptops.
In order to fix this, we are currently working on a DirectX version of the game, it will take us a few more weeks before we can provide a beta to you for testing but we are dedicated to fixing this. Thanks again for your patience.
Other errors
Sometimes you might see an error window showing during the game. If it's an out of memory error please report it to us, otherwise we are logging these on our server in order to know where to focus our efforts.
We have been fixing several of these in the current patch and we will continue doing so in the upcoming weeks.

Multiplayer has arrived in Northgard!
There was a time when you were fighting for survival against nothing but the harsh winter and scarce resources of Northgard… Now you’re not alone.
We’re super excited to announce that we’re releasing our second major update with more new features than you can poke a stick at. So let’s have a look at them:
Multiplayer:
We’re proud to offer you different multiplayer modes, so far we have:
Teamplay (2v2, 3v3 or 2v2v2)
Free For All (2 to 6 players)
Add in AI players to your matches for extra challenge.
At the beginning of the early access we had talked about doing an ad hoc steam friends only PvP system… Many of you thought that this was a bad idea… So we listened and now you can play against anyone who has the game on Steam or limit it to your friends (or invites) only if you wish. You can also use the Steam invitation system to send a game invite directly to the friend of your choosing.
Features:
Victory conditions remain the same as in the solo version, so when one team member reaches the condition that you’re working on, the whole team wins.
Trading now actually sends a part of your resources from one player to another (in the solo version too), so there are some interesting team combinations to try out…
You can transfer territory between team mates, however there is a pretty heavy cool down on this feature and the tiles must be adjacent to one another.
You can ping locations on the map to your allies, if you need to let people know where to assemble for an attack or other types of scheming.
There is a whisper chat that you can use to communicate directly in game if you’re not hooked up to a Discord or something like that.
Disclaimer: This is our first time implementing a multiplayer system on Steam, so if you see bugs, experience crashes or come across any errors, don’t panic, but please do report them to us via the forums.
We also know that there is going to be A LOT of balancing to do. We know that you’re all going to find the best way to game the system and that we’re going to have to nerf a bunch of clans and mechanics… You’ve been warned. ;p

New Units:
Multi is not the only thing that we’re bringing to the table in this update. As promised we’re continuing to listen to the community and improve the base game as we go. So we’d like to introduce you to two new units:
The Axe Thrower: Here is the ranged unit many of you have been waiting for! They’re a little more fragile than your average viking, but they can hit and run quickly and provide excellent support to any warband…
The Shield Bearer: We couldn’t have ranged units without a defensive counterpart… So we present this guy, the big burly Shield Bearer, heavy armour and mountainous size allow him to take a beating, specifically -50% damage taken from projectiles (axe thrower + watch tower).
Both units are spawned from two new specialised buildings. The only catch is, they’re not quite finished, so we’re reusing the Training Camp as a placeholder for a little while. Each building has an icon to show which unit is produced by which building and costs 10 extra crowns to build than the base Training Camp.

We’re also happy to announce that we’ve added support for some extra languages! We’ve added in:
Portuguese (Brazilian)
Russian
Chinese (simplified)
We hope that this will allow you to play with some more of your friends! Let us know if there are any faults or things that you find a little odd in the translation and we’ll get that fixed up in a future patch. :)

But wait, there’s more! We’ve also fixed, tweaked and generally fiddled around with all of this:
You now start with 4 Villagers instead of 3
Wolf clan: instead of having Sharp Weapons by default, the wolf clan now gets extra Food when killing wolves and bears.
Stag clan: Supply Fame title bonus now gives +150 resources instead of +200
Fame victory is now at 1200, we are currently looking at important changes at the Fame system
Lore victory is a bit easier (less Lore cost for advanced knowledges)
Training Camp (and new Axe Thrower and Shield Bearer Camps) now gives +2 Warband instead of +3, and a additional +1 when upgraded
The number of Scouts is also limited by the number of Scout Camps you have (2 + 1 rule)
Defeating another player now gives +120 Fame (+150 for Giants)
Buildings have been reordered according to gameplay usage
Sailors now produces +1.5 Lore instead of +1
Colonizing a Wolf Cave gives 30 Fame, 50 for Draugr Camp
Cost for teaming with Giants has been reduced. A lot.
Raven Harbor Exploration costs are now always 10 Krowns
Colonizing the Gates of Helheim now always costs 100 Food
Civilians and Wolves are a bit stronger now
Healers are more efficient on sick units
All fight damage has been slightly reduced, allowing more time for micro
