4th Patch!

Dear Martians!

It's the 4th day after our Early Access release - and we have another Patch for you!

Yesterday we have released info about postponing update 4, but today, after additional tests and help from community members, we decided to release this update on public_testing branch, available for everyone who wants to check if the update fixes their problems.

Please remember, that we are really small team and we are extremely tired after many hours of testing and preparing updates since Wednesday, so we are just afraid we might have missed something. So just in case please make backup of your OM saves folder to another location before trying the test branch so that you can restore them if anything goes wrong. Your save files are located in:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\PyramidGames\OccupyMars
To test the patch open the game properties on Steam, go to Beta tab, and select the public_testing branch. If everything goes well with this patch we'll put it on the default Steam branch as well, after some time. If anything goes wrong you can switch back to default build in the same place (Properties/Beta) tab.

Build v0.119.5 - Changelog:

  • Fix for restoring default settings changed movement type from instant to realistic
  • Fix for Rover collision detection in Hangar
  • Automatic door opening in launchpad elevator
  • Fix for bug preventing jumping if going on elevator right after talking with NPC
  • Additional optimization of Intro Base NPC animations
  • Fix for building Storage Cabinets (Refrigerators) in workshop
  • Added button to skip escape from Destroyed base after 3 deaths
  • Fixed possibility to block HUD tutorial monitor after jumping
  • Fixed occlusion view from the top of ITS
  • Fixed deathloop after fall in escape sequence
  • Fixed Space Forest achievement unlocked after completing tutorials
  • Fixed incomplete date in arabic save files

Please let us know about the issues you are experiencing to help us prioritize the next patches.

Hopefully tomorrow we will have another patch with next set of fixes.

Remember you can always press F4 to automatically send us feedback with screenshot and log directly from the game.

Occupy Mars Today!

Martians! The day has come!

Occupy Mars: The Game is now available for all of you to play in Early Access! See the Launch Trailer:

It's truly indescribable how amazing it feels to finally reach this day of launch after years of hard work! This incredible journey began more than 10 years ago when we conceived the idea for this game during our time at university.

The development of the game itself started in 2017, and now we have reached the significant milestone of Early Access Launch. Our dream game has reached a point where we are thrilled to share it with you!

This is just the beginning of a much longer journey, as we have an ambitious roadmap ahead of us.

But for now, let's focus on playing!

For those diving right into the game - please keep in mind that the following known issues in the current build v0.119.1:
- loading abandoned bases - procedural outposts can sometimes relocate after loading the game
- saving the game when rover is on crusher can in some cases block rover
- ATV sometimes doesn't spawn next to the abandoned base but further away
- tornado/dust devils can pull the player from abandoned base and throw them away with high speed
- repairing boards one after another can block workbench
- soldering tool and hot-air tool can disappear from workbench
- player can die when building rover and standing too close to the ghost
- cables can hang in the air and block interactions
- tutorial 6 can be blocked if player replants tree seedlings to crate before receiving instruction to do so
- there may be gaps in the terrain at the borders of the map squares
- There may be FPS drops while riding ATV/ROVER
- loot may spawn under the terrain or inside walls/floors
- player can be able to equip 2 tools at once and block interactions
- weather effects may last after the icon on hud disappears
- ATV crates content is not saved
- saving game manually when there is space sign at the end of save's name blocks saving the game
- after longer gameplay random textures may be spawn on random models or not spawn at all

Minor or less frequent issues and edge cases:
- the surface of frozen lake can spawn over the ground
- there are several rare issues which can randomly block saving the game
- ghost of rover can be built only in specific places
- saving the game after placing ghost of workbench but before building it may be impossible
- leaving the base while printer works freezes printer indefinitely.
- aiming while using jackhammer&grinder can be sometimes difficult
- upgrading jackhammer to level 3 without unlocked technology is possible but can break the game
- player can duplicate boards on workbench but doing so can block facility.
- boards may have full HP while having broken parts on workbench
- saving and loading the game after upgrading tool but before taking it from workbench duplicates the tool but can break the game
- FPP camera while driving on ATV can go inside players head on some angles
- charging suit from battery/transformer may sometimes not work
- tipper dislodged from trailer by meteor can be impossible to reattach
- after loading save from campaign, there are pipes and cables in ambulatory
- some sounds may not be properly adjusted
- the list of backers in credits is bigger than text field can handle so it's cut - will be fixed in an update

This is a big game and those issues are generally rare, we just wanted to make sure you know.

We are focusing on solving all of those issues as well as adding more content.

We are planning regular updates. Next one will be live tomorrow, and the next the day after tomorrow ːsteamhappyː

Remember that you can press F4 during the game to post Feedback directly to us.

See you on Mars!

DevLog #63: How NOT to die on Mars: Part 3

Hello, Martians!

We hope you had a good weekend!

We know it’s not easy to start the week anew, but with Saturday and Sunday past us, we find ourselves only 2 days away from the Early Access release of Occupy Mars: The Game!

That’s why today we’d like to resume our lessons on survival on Mars. During the last one, we covered Oxygen. Today, we’d like to focus on a related topic – CO2 Scrubber and Sabatier upgrade!

Water, Oxygen and CO2 management are some of the most urgent matters you have to attend to once you arrive on Mars, so we hope that these videos will help you feel more confident about your upcoming trip.

Get plenty of rest and May 10th will come in no time at all!

See you soon!

Occupy Mars Team

DevLog #62: How NOT to die on Mars: Part 2

Hello again, Martians!

How are your preparations? Are you ready to face the harsh life on the Red Planet?

We’ve already told you all about water and how to manage it in your Martian base. It’s time for another lesson on Occupying Mars!

Today, we’ll cover Oxygen! While you’ll arrive on the Red Planet with a few spare bottles, there is only so far you can go with these alone. Learn the basics about watching your Oxygen parameters and using your base to provide you with what you need to survive.

There is a lot to cover, so make yourself comfortable and let’s get started!

You’ve done amazing so far, Martians! Take a little breather and we’ll be back to our training at a later time.

Check the countdown on our official page: occupymarsgame.com
See that? In just 3 days you’ll be going to Mars! Remember this as you’re entering the new week!

We’ll be there on Mars waiting for you. See you soon!

DevLog #61: Release Time Map & SteelSeries integration

Greetings, Martians!

We have some exciting news!

We have joined forces with SteelSeries to bring your game experience to a whole new level!
Thanks to GameSense integration you can immerse yourself with precise rover controls, alerts and lights which will keep you informed about the state of your water, oxygen and other parameters!

See what SteelSeries has in store for you!

There are only 4 days left until the Early Access release!

The best way to stay up to date with the launch time is to observe the timer on the game’s official page: occupymarsgame.com

That said, we understand that in the heat of preparation for your Mars adventure one might not be able to keep track of time. 😉

That’s why we've prepared this graphic for you, which lists the launch time as it should appear in various corners of the world.

Remember about differences in time zones! In our time (CEST), release time is 6 PM, but this may not necessarily be the case for you.

Take note of your local release time and see you on Mars on May 10th!

Kind Regards,
Occupy Mars Team
