New Expansion "The Europa Wager" Announced for Offworld Trading Company

Offworld Trading Company Announces Brand New Expansion
"The Europa Wager"

Travel to the smallest of Jupiter's Galilean moons and carve out a name for yourself against your competition! Head to the frozen moon of Europa, where numerous cracks on the moon's surface and multiple methane geysers will make building and sustaining structures a whole new challenge. Made of silicate rock and possessing a water-ice crust, Europa's atmosphere is thin but comprised mostly of oxygen, which makes it the next natural step for space-bound entrepreneurs.

Features

New Location: Europa
Explore the smallest of Jupiter's Galilean moons where numerous cracks in the surface and methane geysers make building and sustaining structures more than a little difficult.

New Resources and Structures
Methane geysers are abundant on Europa, and the new Methane Extractor will allow you to harness the gas' energy and transform it into power. Additionally, the new Gas and Hydrothermal Plants work hard to process resources in order to make you a profit. The Hydrothermal Plant works similarly to the Geothermal Plant, but produces more power and a small amount of water. Meanwhile, the Gas Plant converts fuel into power, which is particularly helpful when you find yourself with an abundance.

New Scenarios
Everyone said you're crazy and that it can't be done, yet here you are: Europa. Fight through the frozen elements and help brave colonists found their colony and establish important resource lines. Survive the exceptionally long days and the freezing cold nights, make critical decisions on what to build and where, and mind the cracked and frozen landscape - in order to make sure your structures don't come tumbling down, extra time will need to be taken to build in those areas. Overcome the challenges of Europa and prove to everyone that money talks: you made it on Mars, and you can make it here, too.

Offworld Trading Company: The Europa Wager is coming soon.

Market Corrections DLC

Get it Now for 10% Off
Mars used to be the place where the unwanted went. The criminals, the men and women who were a menace to society. However, a crisis on Earth forced even more humans to flee to the Red Planet in order to make better lives for themselves. Technology had failed them, and dwindling supplies was threatening to doom them.

Market Corrections is a new piece of downloadable content for Offworld Trading Company that features 12 brand new maps and 3 new character campaigns that share why humanity began to colonize Mars.

Reni-6: A sentient robot who has spent years serving humans, Reni-6 seeks to change humanity’s perception on robotics. By providing food and aid to the colonies, Reni-6 hopes they’ll see that not all technology is bad - in fact, it can even be helpful.

Ilana Kamat: A brilliant scientist, Ilana was there when a mysterious algorithm wiped out Earth’s technology. Her mentor, Silas, is keen to make certain that the same doesn’t happen to Mars, and for the time being she’s left in charge of the company to make sure things keep operating smoothly.

Frank Dawson: Frank doesn’t talk much about why he was sent to Mars - and most people are afraid enough not to ask. It is a reputation that he never asked for, one that he seeks to change for himself, as well as the rest of the colonists who first came to Mars as prisoners.

NEW MAPS:

  • Korolev Crater East - The Eastern side of the largest ice-filled crater on Mars.
  • Two-Points Lakebed - Pointed formations created by flowing rivers, which later formed a lake (now devoid of water) as the rivers were drying up.
  • Atlantis Chaos - An equatorial basin region filled with rugged features.
  • Korolev Crater West - The western side of the largest filled crater on Mars.
  • Ma'adim Vallis - An ancient riverbed.
  • Thymiamata - Part of the brightest desert region on Mars, heavily pocketed with craters.
  • Aurorae Chaos - Sprawling rugged lands that were once underwater.
  • Melas Craters - A small section of land, marked by craters, located south of the solar system's largest canyon.
  • Mangala Valles - An intensely cratered area south of one of the ancient great seas.
  • Korolev Crater North - The northern side of the largest ice-filled crater on Mars.
  • Masursky Crater - A unique ancient crater, partially worn away by rivers that once flowed through and near it, all long dry.
  • Mangala Fossa - A deep canyon with one section filled in by intersecting flows of ancient lava.

FREE Multiplayer Client and New DLC for Offworld Trading Company arrives February 28

Want to play a game about the free market on Mars while snubbing your nose at capitalism?

Now you can, with the Free Multiplayer Client releasing on February 28th!

New "Market Corrections" DLC also releases on 2/28. Add it to your Steam wishlist.

Stardock and Mohawk Games have announced a new multiplayer client for their critically acclaimed real-time strategy game, Offworld Trading Company, that will allow players to face off against each other for free, even if they don’t already own the game.

Offworld Trading Company is an economic strategy game by Civilization IV’s lead designer, Soren Johnson. Players find themselves trying to build a corporation on Mars, but the competition is fierce - others are standing in the way of success, and victory is hard-earned through mastering and manipulating the Martian stock market.

Players who enjoy the free multiplayer mode can upgrade to the full version of the game to gain access to the campaign, daily challenges, and skirmish mode starting on February 28, 2019.

The Market Corrections DLC tells the story of why Earth needed to colonize Mars through the eyes of the people currently trying to survive there. It features 3 new single-player narrative campaigns that focus on three different CEOs - Reni-6, Ilana Kamat, and Frank Dawson.

Market Corrections also contains 12 new maps modeled after various locations on Mars, including the pointed formations of Two Points Lakebed, the cratered land of Mangala Valles, the deep canyon of Mangala Fossa, and more.

The Market Corrections DLC will also be available for $3.99 on Steam on February 28th, 2019.

Offworld Trading Company 1.20.20465 Update

General

  • Tutorials have been updated
  • Players can now see their Masquerade name while when playing in Masquerade mode
  • Some colony classes have had their resource price minimums lowered. In the Daily Challenge mode the best move was sometimes just throwing down a large number of mines or quarries on an easy to access resource, and because the resource would never drop below $30 a player could just sell that one resource until they had won. This change to address that situation and encourage more interesting strategies.
  • Increased precision of the server game timer.

Balance

As expressed by the community recently, extra claims can be extremely powerful. In fact, this reward for founding late was so strong that many players would only found without it in the most dire of circumstances. Early claims are being adjusted so that in games of 4 players or less everyone will receive an extra claim eventually.
  • Last four players to found now all receive a free claim (last to found on HQ2, then HQ3, HQ4, HQ5) regardless of number of players in the game

Several small changes are being made to Black Market items to add consistency and bring costs in line with the power each item brings. Spies and Holograms will now have a cooldown, preventing a player with an early lead from taking them all cheaply to get a significant advantage. Meanwhile, Return a Claim and Core Samples have had their cooldowns reduced to encourage their use.
  • Return a Claim Black Market item can now be purchased when in D Debt
  • Changed Black Market cooldown for Bribe a Claim to 90 seconds (up from 60)
  • Changed Black Market cooldown for Holograms, Spies, Return a Claim, and Core Sample to 30 seconds.
  • Pirates now steal 200 resources
  • Pirates and Magnetic Storms are more likely to appear

Patents are receiving some small adjustments, focused on making energy slightly more accessible and bringing Transparent Aluminum’s power down.
  • Energy Vault now produces 2 backup Energy (up from 1)
  • Transparent Aluminum now costs 60 chems (up from 40)
  • Perpetual Motion now costs 40 chems (down from 60)

Bug Fixes

  • Nomads now receive the correct Black Market time when founding
  • Infinite Challenge Leaderboard now properly updates when played from the Ranked Queue
  • Geothermal Borehole Auctions will no longer occur on maps where no Geothermal Vents are present
  • Overflow bug and formatting fixed for very large amounts of cash
  • Players can once again see number of players in FFA queue while in the 1v1 queue
  • Fixed an error with “Infinite Win (Io)” Achievement
  • Fixed border color artifacts on Medium and Low Rendering Quality

Offworld Trading Company Journal: Privatization of Space
