Participating BitSummit!

Hello everyone!

We are continuing with testing and stabilization to ensure a smooth launch on July 29th.

Additionally, we are excited to announce that we have been selected to participate in BitSummitDrift, which will be held in Kyoto, Japan from July 19th to 21st!





BitSummit is an international indie game event that started in 2013. Last year, renowned games like Dredge and Animal Well participated.



We will be exhibiting at booth H-09 on the third floor, and we are eager to introduce 'Ogu and the Secret Forest' to gamers from Japan and around the world.

[Dev Log] Summer Sale & Official Release

Hello! ːsteamhappyː

We are working hard for the official release on July 29th.

Currently, "Ogu and the Secret Forest" is on a 15% discount during the Steam Summer Sale, which will be the last discount before the official release. If you haven't purchased "Ogu and the Secret Forest" yet, consider doing so now!

The major issues we're working on are the final battle and ending, which are still under wraps, and improving the convenience of existing content.



To avoid spoilers about the final battle, here are some improvements you'll see in the official release:


1. Display of Fish Species at Fishing Spots






New signs will be placed at each fishing spot, showing the types of fish that appear there. Fish you have caught before will be highlighted.


2. Cooking System Changes





The cooking system has been improved as follows:

When There is No Recipe


Selecting ingredients not in a recipe will now not proceed with cooking and will display a message indicating that there is no related recipe.

Cooking Gauge and Extra Rewards


A gauge showing the progress of the cooking process has been added.

  • If the gauge is very low at the end of cooking, food waste is created.
  • If the gauge is low, food is created.
  • If the gauge is normal or above, a dish is created.
  • If the gauge is very high, 2 dishes are created.



3. Sold Out





When all items are purchased from shops that sell limited items like equipment and interior goods, the shop shutters will close.


4. Sun Village Telescope





Looking through the telescope at the Sun Village observatory, you can now see the scenery that was previously displayed as text.


5. Baby Ogu Dance





If you don't control Baby Ogu for a certain period, he will dance in place.

0.6.2 Patch Note & Dev Log

Hi!

We've released version 0.6.2 with some bug fixes and development progress towards a full release. Here are the details.


Change the loading screen





The loading screen when loading the game from the main screen has been changed to the image of the world map that was also featured in the trailer.


The Pier Way





The Pier Way is currently changing. We've added a fishing deck and a bait vendor to the empty area, and will be adding an atelier where Maltese works.
(The fish species in the fishing deck above are the same as the fishing pier in the hermit crab village).


Depth Effect





We are adding ceiling objects that add depth to the caves and rooms.
Currently, you can only find them in the Cave area of the Jungle, but they will be added to all relevant areas at v1.0.


Bard





A Bard cat has been added to the north side of the Orchard.
It is currently unable to interact with anything, but it will be singing a song about the legend of the hero in the further update,
A version of the song with added lyrics and vocals will be released on YouTube.


Added a drawing journal





Added a drawing journal of Temple of the Moon Crossroad.


Texts



  • Added text to hint at a solution when encountering Ginger without the Soongsoong Balloon.
  • Fixed the hint line regarding the waste waterfall located Outer Jungle as it may disappear as you progress through Sky Island.


Bugs



  • Fixed a bug with tennis in Dusk Village.
  • Fixed the sort order of some furniture in the Adventure Book.
  • Fixed a bug regarding the hotkeys.

Full Release Date Trailer & Upcoming Price Increase



Ogu and the Secret Forest is officially releasing on July 29 after a year and four months of Early Access.

We'd like to thank the Steam community and Discord for all the feedback and bug reports during Early Access. We'll do our best to wrap up development until the full release so that you can end your journey with a great finale.


Price increase coming soon



After the full release, we will be increasing the price slightly, as stated in the 'Early Access' description.
The price increase will be 24.99 USD, up about 7 USD from 17.99 USD.
(Actual game prices may vary slightly from country to country based on Steam's regional pricing policies.)


Full release promotional content



Starting with the release date announcement trailer above, we will be producing a variety of promotional content leading up to the release date.

[Dev Log] Additional Content 2-2

Hello!

Here is the second update on the final additional content that will be updated next week. For other updates, please refer to the last development diary!


Bee Village





A small village will be added to the southwest of the Central Forest.
You can assist the bees living there and engage in a small subquest.


Northern Sky Island





The northern part of Sky Island will be opened, where you can obtain "Rahno's Hat."
This hat allows you to use new teleportation platforms added around the world.


Collectibles





You will be able to collect all the bugs that are listed in the adventure diary but were previously unobtainable. Additionally, all unobtainable totems will also be added.



Map Markers





A map marker system will be introduced to help navigate the expansive world.
It will assist in marking locations of inaccessible areas or items due to the lack of skills or companions.




After this update, we plan to spend about three months preparing for the final boss fight and ending before transitioning to an official release. We will inform you of the exact release date after the update.

[Dev Log] Additional Content 2

Hello!

I'm excited to share the development status of the final additional content that will be updated at the end of this month. This update includes all the remaining unreleased areas and content except for the final battle.

Road of Proof





The map related to the "Sigil of the Tree', which was previously inaccessible in the main quest, will be revealed.

The 'Road of Proof', accessible from the south of the Central Forest, is where the teachers who taught baby Ogu gather. This path leads to the final battle location, so the teachers will check if baby Ogu is ready to face the final boss.

Central Cave







The Central Cave, connecting various parts of the Central Forest, will be revealed.

In the Central Cave, you will be able to mine two types of gems that were previously unobtainable and encounter trash monsters and puzzles related to the overall story of the game.





Additionally, with the opening of the Central Cave, entrances to it will also be added.

Apple Woods and Related Area Updates







The quests and related areas of the Apple Woods, leading from the southwestern world to Hermit Crab Village, will be revealed. Small quests involving 'Panpan', who runs the orchard, as well as the mountain path connected to the Apple Forest and Bee Village, will be updated.

Harbor Town Quest





A small quest will be added to Harbor Town.

Others



The northern area of Sky Island and the ruins of the Moon Forest Cave will become accessible. Additionally, about 20 new Piece of Artifact will be added to complete all museum collections.

Schedule



This update is scheduled for the end of April. Following this, development of the final boss fight and final testing will proceed, with an official release planned for the end of July.
