Poll 84 Changes
A new right-click “Modify Offer” option has been added to the Grand Exchange interface, allowing players to edit buy or sell offers directly from the status page without cancelling and re-entering them.
Added a "Repeat Offer" button to the Grand Exchange, allowing players to quickly resubmit their last buy or sell offer with the same item, price, and quantity.

The chance of receiving a Gout Tuber now increases with higher Woodcutting levels.
You can now empty the small meat pouch when near banks or on the top floor of the Hunters' Guild.
Cat chasing rats will no longer delay your character.
Official Client & Mobile

Yama Tweaks
If you already own a Radiant Oathplate or any piece of the Sigil, the Contractually Unbound Combat Achievement task will now be retroactively completed.
Fixed a tricky bug where the Shadow Dancer Combat Achievement task could unfairly fail if you got teleported on the same tick as when the damage was dealt.
Voidflare HP has been lowered from 83 to 81 during the Demonic familiar and Divine severance contracts.
The pet contract drop rate has been boosted from 1/250 to 1/100, and now both players will benefit from the contract - unless the non-contract player is an Iron, in which case they’ll have to bring their own.
The number of Aether Runes required to craft each piece of Radiant Oathplate has been reduced from 10,000 to 2,500.
Fixed a bug where the standing pet animation for Yama wasn't working.
Other Changes
Fixed a bug where Steam achievements could be unlocked without the required progression.
Surge potions can now be stored inside the COX storage unit.
Players can no longer walk into the scenery in the south of the task-only Wyvern cave at Mudskipper Point.
You will now be unable to enter Yama when skulled on DMM worlds.

Poll 84 Changes
Grand Exchange Interface Improvements
We’ve made a couple of handy updates to the Grand Exchange (GE) interface to make your hustle better than ever!
Gone are the days of cancelling and re-entering GE offers! A new right-click “Modify Offer” option has been added, allowing you to edit existing buy or sell offers directly from the status page!
We’ve also introduced a “Repeat Offer” button, located in the top-left corner of the window. Just placed an offer? Click that button and your last deal’s item, price, and quantity are pre-filled and ready to be adjusted. Whether you were buying or selling, it’s all there, minus the admin.
Selling but low on stock? The sell offer will automatically adjust to how much you’ve actually got, and if you’re fresh out of the goods, you’ll get a friendly chat message to let you know. The GE History button also still lets you repeat previous buy offers with a quick click.
Bursting down the Abyssal Sire during his phase transitions only to watch him bounce back to full health was about as fun as a chinchompa to the face.
So, we’ve dialled down his healing a bit:
Bring him to 0 HP while he’s wandering? He now wakes up with just over 40% health.
Catch him setting up that big ol’ apocalypse attack? He’ll only heal to about 20%.
Stun him while he’s still seated? Yep, full heal and a stun as intended.
No more accidental full-heal surprises, so those high-DPS plays don’t need to feel like you just fed him a full inventory of Anglerfish.
Bonus 84 Goodness
The chance of receiving a Gout Tuber now increases with higher Woodcutting levels
You can now empty the small meat pouch when near banks or on the top floor of the Hunters' Guild.
Cat chasing rats will no longer delay your character.
Now, we hear you loud and clear - stackable clues when? You asked for it (and voted for it), and it’s on the way! It’s currently going through its final round of testing, and once it’s behaving, we’ll be locking in a release date. We know you’re buzzing for it (rightly so), but in the meantime, we hope these quality-of-life tweaks keep your merching and murder sprees feeling fresh while you wait for the main event.
Today’s the day - the AFK Logout Timer setting is now live on the Official Client (desktop and mobile)! If you’ve ever stepped away to answer the door, make a sandwich, or just stare at your cat for a bit too long, only to return and find yourself logged out, this update is for you.
With this new setting, you can now choose how long your character stays logged in while idle, up to a max of 25 minutes.
Where to Find it:
Head into Settings, then navigate to the Gameplay tab.
Look for the AFK Logout Timer setting - or just search for "AFK" to find it quickly.
Select your preferred timeout in 5-minute increments, from 5 to 25 minutes.
The setting defaults to 5 minutes (just like before), but now you can stretch that idle time to suit your needs.
A confirmation message will appear in your chat when you change the setting.
The setting is saved per device and will persist across sessions.
For full transparency, we were hoping to make this a 30-minute timer, but we hit a little snag along the way. We wanted to get the timer out to you asap, rather than holding it back until we had the extra 5 minutes, but we will continue to work on the issues we came across and hopefully get you the full 30 when we can.
Any in-game activity, including moving your mouse over the game window, resets the AFK timer - so you’ll need to be properly idle to see the logout kick in. Whether you're fishing, woodcutting, or just monitoring a farming patch, this feature gives you more flexibility while AFKing. Set it to suit your playstyle and avoid unwanted logouts when you're briefly away!
Note for Mobile Users: This setting cannot override how your device handles backgrounded apps. Many mobile devices automatically suspend or restrict background app activity to save battery. So, even if you’ve set the AFK Logout Timer to 25 minutes, your device may still log you out much sooner if the app isn’t in the foreground. This is expected behaviour and not a bug.
Yama Tweaks
We've also been continuing to monitor your feedback with Yama and have made a few changes based on your suggestions:
If you already own a Radiant Oathplate or any piece of the Sigil, the Contractually Unbound Combat Achievement task will now be retroactively completed.
Fixed a tricky bug where the Shadow Dancer Combat Achievement task could unfairly fail if you got teleported on the exact same tick as when the damage was dealt.

Join us on June 13th 4PM BST for some JMod Castle Wars action!
We're flipping your classic Castle Wars experience on its head and unleashing pure chaos.
Two J-Mods, Mod Nox and Mod Manked, will be joining the battle as each team's unkillable, flag-thieving behemoths. These aren’t just mascots… they’re mobile megabosses with 1,000,000 HP and a mission.
Here’s what’s going down:
As soon as the game starts, the enemy J-Mod teleports into your base and tries to steal your flag.
Your team must stop them at all costs, while escorting your own J-Mod and their mountain of hitpoints back to safety.
They'll also have a few tricks up their sleeve - so watch out!
Think of it as a high-stakes flag game meets escort mission meets boss fight.
Bring your gear, bring your A-game, and get ready for the most absurd Castle Wars match you’ve ever seen.

The Chasm of Fire teleport scroll now teleports you in front of the Voice of Yama.
The Master Scroll Book now uses the correct icon for the Chasm Teleport Scroll.
Elite Clues are now more common, dropping at a rate of 1/30 instead of 1/66.

Fixed a bug where the Dragon and Burning Claws were not guaranteeing their second hitsplat from the Soulflame Horn.
The Phoenix Necklace proc will no longer remove a Soulflame Horn buff.
The Dossier no longer mentions the lockbox when opening it.
The Collection Log now displays the correct Dossier icon.
Surge Potion now has a 6-tick delay when used in PVP areas. The Special Attack Energy will not restore if a player has moved more than 15 tiles away. Additionally, the potion cannot be used if you're already at 100% Special Attack Energy.
Diabolical Worms can now be stored in the Tackle Box.
Crushing Infernal Shale now guarantees fair returns. You can still get multiple Crushed Infernal Shales per Infernal Shale chiselled, but you're guaranteed to get at least as many as you crushed.
Fixed a bug where players could use the Wet Cloth to bypass the Mining requirement of Infernal Shale.
The Infernal pickaxe no longer processes Infernal Shale.
Increased the buy limit of Yama Contracts from the Grand Exchange to 50 from 5.
The Purging Staff Special Attack now counts towards Contract of Glyphic Attenuation.
Scarred extracts now work as expected with Aether Runes when using Daeyalt Essence.
Added an ‘empty’ option to the Barrel of Demonic Tallow so it can be emptied from the Inventory with the Bank interface open.

The Oathplate Armour set now has the correct icon in the Grand Exchange.
Oathplate shards now appear in the Yama Collection Log entry.
Removed the Dragon Chainbody from the Yama Collection Log.
The player cost of Worm, Catalyst, and Shard contracts now better reflects the value of their rewards.
Removed the Agility shortcut icons from the bottom floor of the Chasm of Fire.
Plus, some hotfixes from last week:
Rebalanced Dossier rewards:
Teleport Scrolls now appear less frequently and in higher quantities.
Increased the drop rate of Radiant Contracts and reduced the rate of Horn and Oathplate contracts.
Void Flares now apply special on-hit effects correctly.
Fixed an issue where Staff Special Attacks would consume Special Attack Energy even if you were out of range due to range reduction effects like Myopia or Sensory Clouding.
In case you haven't seen it yet, we've provided the Wiki with the detailed Yama drop rates awhile ago, which you can see here! Yama: Contract-related Tweaks
Yama will no longer have increased HP on any Contract except for the Contract of Bloodied Blows and Contract of Glyphic Attenuation. In addition:
Contract of Bloodied Blows: Yama's HP is increased by 20%, down from 40%.
Contract of Glyphic Attenuation: Yama's HP is increased by 15%, down from 25%.
In Contract of Bloodied Blows, we've lowered Yama's prayer penetration on magic and ranged attack from 10% to 5%.
All of Yama's Contracts will trigger phase transitions at 75% and 50% HP rather than 66% and 33% HP.
For the Contract of Glyphic Attenuation, players with high Prayer bonus gain a damage increase. We've made this damage bonus larger at the higher thresholds.
Void flares in 'duo' contracts no longer always spawn with 140hp, making them easier to solo and occasionally more manageable in a duo.
It's no longer possible to splash on Void flares during the Contract of Bloodied Blows.
Removed the ‘tile ragging’ mechanic from the Contracts of Catalyst, Worm and Shard Acquisition. This is still present on the Contracts of Harmony and Oathplate Acquisition.
Removed the Demonbane restriction from all Contracts.
To practise for the toughest Contracts (the Contracts of Harmony and Oathplate Acquisition) and money-making purposes, we've added a new option for you: Bring Yama 100 noted Pineapple Pizzas and he'll let you take him on in this empowered form. The fight's identical to the toughest Contracts of Worm, Catalyst and Shard Acquisition, but you'll receive regular loot.
Grand Exchange Tax Changes
To help maintain a healthy and balanced in-game economy, we're making changes to GE tax:
Increased GE tax rate from 1.0% to 2.0%
Any existing offers remain taxed at 1.0%, and only new offers use the new 2.0% rate.
Adjusted the sink rates for several high-value items and removed others entirely.
Additional low-tier and early-game items such as food, energy potions, teleport tablets, early-game ammo, and Mind Runes are now tax-exempt.
Other Changes
Burning logs at a bonfire now offers the same XP as traditional Firemaking, though they'll still be used at a slower rate than lighting them manually.
Players entering through the Guthix portal at Castle Wars will now be randomly assigned a team at the start of each game. Leaving and rejoining the waiting room won’t change your team - your assignment only resets when a new game begins.
Dragon Claws have regained their second-hit passing logic.
Players can no longer smuggle non-combat items into Soul Wars.
The Master Scroll Book now uses the correct icon for the Colossal Wyrm Teleport.
We've identified Pure accounts whose Defence level was erroneously bumped from Level 1 to Level 2 due to last week's bug that caused ranged weapons to grant incorrect type of combat XP. Their Defence has now been restored to Level 1.

The PvP rota has moved to Period A:
539 - (US) - PvP World
318 - (UK) - Bounty Hunter World

Yama: Contract-related Tweaks
Since last Friday’s hotfix adventure, we’ve made some significant changes to Contracts based on your feedback.
First up, Yama will no longer have increased HP on any Contract except for the Contract of Bloodied Blows and Contract of Glyphic Attenutation. Yama's HP is slightly reduced on both of the aforementioned Contracts too:
Contract of Bloodied Blows: Yama's HP is increased by 20%, down from 40%.
Contract of Glyphic Attenuation: Yama's HP is increased by 15%, down from 25%.
On the topic of Contract of Bloodied Blows, we've lowered Yama's prayer penetration on magic and ranged attack from 10% to 5%.
On top of these adjustments, a good chunk of feedback made clear that Phase 3 for a lot of these fights was pretty enjoyable, while Phases 1 and 2 felt like a bit of a slog - particularly frustrating when a small mistake can kill you. With that in mind, all of Yama's Contracts will trigger phase transitions at 75% and 50% HP rather than 66% and 33% HP. This means you'll spend more time taking on the toughest part of the fight, but the HP reductions should mean that kills are a bit snappier.
Here's a few smaller changes we’re making:
Additionally, you can now bring Yama 100 Noted Pineapple Pizzas (his favourite!) to persuade him to let you fight him in his empowered form. This fight is intended to give you much-needed practice for the toughest Contracts of Worm, Catalyst and Shard Acquisition, but you’ll receive regular loot.
Naturally, these changes do make these Contracts easier than before, so we've compiled a list of the first among you to complete the Purifying Sigil, to make sure that players who stepped up to the challenge even when it seemed insurmountable are remembered by the history books, let's take a look.
1) Widega
2) RangedSkully
3) M a x S
4) BoerJohannes
5) I Mster I
6) Gnomonkey
7) Radeyz
8) No1
9) Oblv JRazE
10) Noobtype
We'd like to say a huge congratulations to everybody out there who's completed any Contracts so far, we hope to see some of you tackling these adjusted Contracts and sharing your thoughts with us!
Grand Exchange Tax
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a healthy in-game economy, we're making a change to the Grand Exchange tax rate. We understand that any update involving your hard-earned gold can be sensitive, so we want to be fully transparent about the reasons behind this change and how it will affect your gameplay.
Why Change the GE Tax Rate?
The amount of GP entering the game has steadily increased over the years, but our systems for removing that GP, known as "money sinks", haven’t kept pace. A change like increasing the GE tax is a meaningful step towards restoring economic balance, helping to curb inflation and preserve the value of your wealth.
The goal here isn’t to punish trade, but to ensure that Old School continues to have a vibrant and sustainable economy for years to come. Increasing the GE tax is one of the most effective ways we can do that.
Here’s what’s changing:
The Grand Exchange tax rate will rise from 1.0% to 2.0%.
Items under 50 GP will still not be taxed (since 2% of those values round down to less than 1 coin).
A tax cap of 5,000,000 coins remains in place for high-value trades as it did before.
Existing offers at the time of the update will remain taxed at 1.0%, or not taxed at all, ensuring fairness for trades made under the old rules.
Only newly created offers after the update goes live will see the new 2% rate.
Improvements to Item Sinks
Alongside the tax rate change, we’ve also taken the chance to give the item sink system a bit of a clean-up!
In case you’re not familiar: when you buy or sell items on the Grand Exchange, most of the tax you pay gets deleted straight out of the game, helping remove GP from circulation. However, a small slice of that tax pie is also used by the game to buy certain items from players and sink them into the void, permanently deleting them from the economy. This keeps high-supply items from getting too out of hand and helps prices stay balanced over time.
In this update, we’re refining the item sink system further:
Added Burning Claws to the sink list.
Increased sink rates for several high-impact items, including:
Osmumten's Fang
Lightbearer
Arcane Prayer Scroll
Dexterous Prayer Scroll
Dragonhunter Lance
Dragon Pickaxe
Meanwhile, these items are now a little less likely to be sunk:
Spectral Spirit Shield
Arcane Spirit Shield
Kodai Wand
Finally, after reviewing item performance and value over time, we've removed the following items from the sink list entirely:
Saradomin Swords
Warrior ring
Seers ring
Bandos Boots
Sarachnis Cudgel
Hydra claw
Kraken Tentacle
Trident of the seas (full)
Occult necklace
Preserve prayer scroll
Kodai insignia
Some items on this list might seem too low-price to be worth sinking. In most cases, the real issue is the sheer volume of these items entering the game. We think the GP is better directed toward other, more effective sinks.
You’ll still pay tax when trading these items, but the game won’t be scooping them up and deleting them anymore. We hope these changes will let us focus your taxes on the items that are most heavily in need of an item sink, while still removing plenty of gold from the game overall.
We’ve also made some low-value and early-game utility items fully exempt from GE tax. This includes things like low-tier food, Energy Potions, teleport tablets, early-game ammo, and Mind Runes. These items are useful for newer and lower-level players, and taxing them didn’t really sink much gold, but it did make the early game just a little less friendly. So we’ve cleaned that up!
At the end of the day, this isn’t just about numbers - it’s about keeping the Old School economy healthy, so your GP stays valuable and prices stay fair. We’ll be monitoring these changes closely, and as always, we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Shape the Future of Player Support
We’re checking in - and we’d love your input!
At the end of last year, we asked for your thoughts on Jagex Player Support: what was working, what wasn’t, and where you wanted to see improvements. Your feedback in the December 2024 survey was incredibly valuable and directly shaped the Player Support roadmap we shared in April for both RuneScape and Old School.
Now, we’re back with a follow-up survey to see how we’re doing. What are your thoughts on the Roadmap? Have the changes we’ve made improved your experience? Are there still areas we need to focus on? Whether you’ve recently interacted with Player Support or simply have suggestions, we want to hear from you.
The survey will be live from 29 May to 5 June, and you can complete it here.
This is the first in a series of regular check-ins, and it only takes a few minutes to complete. Every response helps us make Player Support better for everyone, so thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

If you're left wanting more Amascut content, you're in luck - RuneScape: Shadows of Amascut is set to be published later this year! You can pre-order this novel direct from Titan, from your local bookstore or Amazon. Here’s the synopsis:
Was the Hereditas Expedition doomed from the start? Led by Pontifex Bilrach, the Mahjarrat must find the artifacts of the dead god Tumeken and complete the Ritual of Rejuvenation, otherwise they face extinction. Forced to work together by Zaros, the Mahjarrat form an uneasy alliance, though they all have their own ambitions.
Having found only sand and false hope wandering through the Kharidian Desert, the search is becoming ever more frustrating and the casualties mount as the humans die for the Mahjarrat cause. The desert is vast and full of danger, the sun is oppressive, and there are traitors in their midst. Can the Mahjarrat succeed despite these impossible odds?
Like the other two recent novels from Titan - Gift of Guthix and Fall of Hallowvale - Shadow of Amascut builds on in-game content from both Old School and RuneScape, filling the gaps in lore and introducing characters both new and recognisable. Ideal for lorehounds or anyone who enjoys a good story!
Wise Old Man and Gnome Child are now available in beanie keyring form!

The Calm Before the Contract Storm
After last week's debut of Yama, the Master of Pacts, we’ve absolutely loved watching you dive headfirst into the chaos - testing your might, experimenting with every tactic under the sun, and generally causing quite the scene. Your feedback, wild theories, and relentless grind have been an absolute treat to watch - and nothing brings people together like the shared experience of getting incinerated from orbit when your partner heroically stands on the wrong glyph. Truly inspiring, great for trust exercises, less so for survival.
Thank you to user @einrodd for their wonderful illustration of this.
Now, onto today’s update… or lack thereof. Kind of?
This week’s game update is a little quieter than usual - think of it as the eye of the storm. We're using this time to make sure Yama is behaving (or misbehaving) in exactly the right ways. We're ironing out any unexpected bugs, glitches, or pact-related weirdness that might've crept in.
We're also putting the final touches on the release for contracts, which, as you know, are landing this Friday! That means all those contracts you’ve been stockpiling since last week will soon be put to good use. Expect ramped-up fights, beefier rewards, and all sorts of opportunities to flex your combat prowess (or get very swiftly humbled).
We'll be sharing drop/loot mechanics in full next week, though we did provide the OSRS Wiki with specifics in advance so if you're interested in unique rates, head over here. As you know, last week we made some careful adjustments because the initial drop rates were a bit higher than intended, which risked upsetting the balance with other items like Torva that occupy a similar role.
There are still a handful of changes included with today's update though, which we hope are welcome! Here's a quick rundown and a reminder that we're still working on a whole host of other things that were listed in a blog update last Friday.
Fixed a bug where Yama would become 'inactive' if his target was forcibly logged out.
Fixed an issue with the Soulflame Horn where its settings would reset on equip.
Adjusted some of drops as follows:
Dossier drop rate improved from 1/20 to 1/17.
Quantity of Fire runes dropped increased from 15,000 to 40,000.
Added Elite Clues to Yama's loot table at a rate of 1 in 66.
Doubled the drop rate of Contracts from demons in the Chasm of Fire, meaning you'll obtain twice as many per hour compared to before.
Yama will now be in the centre of the arena after each transition phase.
All demonbane spells now have reduced Fire Rune costs. From 4/8/12 to 3/5/7.
Infernal plates can now be traded.
Oathplate Armour pieces can be broken down in the Ancient Forge inside the God Wars Dungeon for 50 Oathplate Shards.
We understand a quieter update might feel a bit “meh” to some, but this moment of calm is important as it gives us time to make sure everything is running as it should, and sets the stage for the next round of contract chaos. Sometimes you've gotta sharpen the blade before swinging it, right?
Contracts
Before you get stuck into Contracts later this week, we've got some important news to share!
While we don't have an exact time in mind at the moment, we're targeting around 11:00 BST for activating these tomorrow. We appreciate that this isn't an ideal time for our US players, but with so many distinct encounters being added we need to make sure we have enough time to fix any issues that may arise.
We know that the initial plan to have Contracts be solo-only wasn't exactly a smash hit with you, so we're adjusting some Contracts to allow for you to tackle them with a friend. We've got a list of which ones you can duo below, but don't worry about remembering them all - the Contracts themselves will tell you which ones you can or can't duo, and give you a rough idea of the most important changes within the fight.
Contract of Familiar Acquisition
Contract of Shard Acquisition
Contract of Worm Acquisition
Contract of Catalyst Acquisition
This means that Contracts guaranteeing a piece of Oathplate, the Soulflame Horn or a piece of the Purifying Sigil (used to recolour Oathplate) will still be solo-only.
The Yama encounter for any contract with 'acquisition' in the name is the same, the catch being that for Contracts of Oathplate Acquisition and Harmony Acquisition, you'll need to take him down solo.
Ultimately we think you guys are right, having at least some Contracts being doable in a duo makes sense and it would have been a shame to have all of the hardest variants of the fight being done in isolation. We think for Radiant Oathplate cosmetic contracts, as well as Oathplate and Soulflame Horn contracts, we'd rather steer clear of any potential boosting problems and keep them as prestigious, very challenging encounters for players looking to strut their stuff and flex Radiant Oathplate, or just make a pretty penny. For the less 'expensive' tradeable rewards, we think these are safe to let you tackle with a friend - but only the player who used their Contract will get the reward, so make sure you can trust your partner to split your winnings!
Even if the Contract isn't yours, you'll still be able to get lucky and snag unique drops on any Contract, though regular loot is disabled for all of them except for the Contract of Familiar Acquisition.
Since the Contract of Familiar Acquisition no longer outright guarantees a pet and instead increases the drop chance by 10x for the player who used the Contract (alongside regular loot rolls), we're also happy to see you take this on in twos - this is one of the most interesting fights on the cards, so have fun theorycrafting your setups here, we can't wait to see what you come up with...
It's also worth noting that should you prove successful on any of the following Contracts, then you'll be rewarded with the same Contract again as a drop:
Contract of Familiar Acquisition
Contract of Bloodied Blows
Contract of Divine Severance
Contract of Forfeit Breath
Contract of Glyphic Attenuation
Contract of Sensory Clouding
This means that for any contract that doesn't have a guaranteed, tradeable reward - you'll be able to run it back as often as you like, so long as you don't meet your untimely end in Yama's arena.
As always, thanks for your patience, your feedback, and your continued love for the game. We’re super excited to see how you all get on with this levelled-up version of the boss later this week!

We hope you’re wearing breathable fabrics, because today we’re heading deep into the sweltering Chasm of Fire. Yama, the Master of Pacts, has arrived…
Changelog May 14th
[expand type=show more]
Yama
Yama is here! Chat to the Voice of Yama at the bottom of the Chasm of Fire to enter his domain and challenge him.
Oathplate Armour, Diabolic Worms, Aether Catalysts and Runes, Demonic Tallow and Surge Potions, the Rite of Vile Transference (for upgrading Death Charge) and the Soulflame Horn are all obtainable as drops from Yama.
A new skilling area is accessible in the north-west of the bottom floor of the Chasm of Fire. Players can mine Infernal Shale here, which can be combined with Oathplate Shards via a new Smithing activity to eventually make Oathplate Armour pieces.
Group Iron players will lose their Prestige if they duo Yama with a player outside of their group.
Other Changes
Similar to Aether Runes being useable in place of Soul or Cosmic Runes for charging or creating items, other combination Runes (for example, Lava Runes) can now be used for either of their respective elemental rune to charge or create items (or portals!) that require them.
Mark of Darkness can now be re-cast before it expires. There's still a delay before re-casting so that it doesn't become a massive XP/hr method, but this should improve its usability!
Snails in the Mort Myre swamp can now deal damage to players again. Watch out!
Frost Nagua have a slightly increased aggro range, so should be a little more relaxing to fight than before.
Fixed a bug where other Frost Nagua could start attacking you if one that you were in combat with used their special attack.
Added a new sound effect when obtaining Dung from the Tombs of Amascut rewards chest.
Fixed the Medium Clue Step featuring a zookeeper who asks for the number of animals in Ardougne Zoo.

Yama, the Master of Pacts
Old School's new duo-focused, endgame boss encounter is here!
Almost all of the info in today's blog is also summarised in this handy video made by the RuneScape Chronicles team!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80pYF2u-lJo If you can't see the video above, click here instead!
You’ll remember Yama from this dedicated blog – but to catch you all up on the latest news, all you need to know about this wheelin’ dealin’ demon is below.
Getting There
Yama resides in the Chasm of Fire in Kourend. To get there, grab your Dramen Staff (or take pride in your Lumbridge Elite Diary completion) and head to Fairy Ring DJR to wind up right next to the entrance. If you're not able to use Fairy Rings, then the Shayzien teleport in Kharedst's Memoirs (or the Book of the Dead) is a solid alternative. You'll need to have completed A Kingdom Divided to access Yama, so all of you should have a copy lying around somewhere!
Once you're inside the Chasm, descend downwards and introduce yourself to the Voice of Yama. Players with Level 83 Agility can carefully navigate a long, spiked chain to zip from top-to-bottom in an instant. If you're not quite there yet, players with Level 73 Agility can make their way north and use a slower but much cooler set of shortcuts that involve dangling off of ledges, jumping over gaps, and dodging, dipping, ducking and diving past demons. Not that we’re biased, but it’s well worth taking this scenic route at least once. Check out the video by clicking here!
You'll find the Voice of Yama right in the centre of the bottom floor. He’ll give you a piece of his mind but if you can withstand his sassy attitude, he’ll teleport you to Yama’s domain where you’ll find the demon of the hour.
Yama
You’ll find Yama sitting atop a throne that’s bigger than it has any right to be – and no, you can’t have it for your Player-Owned House. He’s got plenty of other deals on offer, though, all of which involve facing him in combat. He’ll even inhibit his own power to make it easier on you. How can you say no to that?
Defeat Yama and you’ll score powerful unique drops. Fail to defeat him, and you’ll lose something more valuable than you can possibly imagine – narratively, of course. Rest assured that everything in your Bank will be safe and sound.
Now, because Yama is so generous (or arrogant), he'll even let you bring a friend! To join one of your pals inside Yama's domain, you'll need to have spoken to the Voice of Yama until you can challenge Yama yourself. From there, rather than using the 'Travel' option on the Voice of Yama, you can use the 'Join' option and type in another player's name to join their instance, so long as they're on your Friends List. Unlike the Royal Titans, Yama must be interacted with once you're inside his arena to start the fight, so there's no need to frantically follow after your partner as soon as they're in.
Some key things to note before we move on:
Yama is a dangerous death for HCIM and HCGIM players.
You can teleport out of Yama by conventional means or by using Escape Crystals.
Iron and non-Iron accounts can kill Yama together and will receive loot according to their contribution. Unique chances also depend on contribution.
Group Iron players will lose their Prestige if they duo Yama with a player outside of their group.
Monster Examine will be enabled immediately. He’s not shy!
Yama's death fees will be reduced by 75% until you have at least 10 killcount.
All of the new tradeable items will be blacklisted from Death's Coffer until their prices settle down, as normal.
If you logged out inside the Chasm of Fire, you'll be booted out after the game update - we've changed some of the terrain down there and don't want anybody getting stuck.
We have a handful of worlds with the 'Yama' tag for today's release, so head to any of the following if you're looking for a partner: 325 (UK), 339 (US West), 343 (EU), 394 (US East).
We’ll leave you to discover the ins and outs of the fight yourself. Just to manage your expectations, our internal playtests indicate that our initial aim of ‘one step beyond the Desert Treasure II bosses’ was dead on the money. The hope is that Yama will be a fun fight for talented players to master – and if you’re up for a little extra challenge, you can sign contracts with a little more spice.
Contracts
If you read Friday's blog, you'll have seen this section already, so feel free to keep scrolling! Go on, get out of here.
Following your feedback on last week’s preview, we’ve decided that we’d rather have Yama’s contracts start harder and get easier than risk making them solo-only endeavours right as they’re getting good.
Additionally, while we're not releasing Combat Achievements yet, we do have one in mind for completing any Contract at Yama, so you won't need to fork out millions of GP for a bunch o
What are they?
Contracts are tradeable agreements that you can bring to Yama, sign on the dotted line and he'll show you a little more of his power in a more challenging fight, with some kind of guaranteed reward up for grabs if you prove successful. This means that upon obtaining a Contract, you'll have to weigh up whether or not you think you can beat it in a single attempt, or play it safe and sell it to another player instead.
There are at least seven bespoke Contracts at the moment. Yama will show off more of his power regardless of what Contract you've signed, but each bespoke Contract should change the way that you approach the fight fundamentally, and each of them offers a different reward. This reward is fixed for each Contract and you'll know what's at stake before the fight even starts, meaning 'complete this version of the fight, and you'll walk away with this', they are not a 'make the fight slightly harder and uniques slightly more common' kind of system.
To be clear, Yama in his base form is the 'intended' experience and is how the overwhelming majority of players will engage with the boss for most of the time they spend engaging with it. Contracts are an added layer of spice on top for players wanting to push themselves, but the encounter, its rewards and 'time to complete' are all built off of the base experience first and foremost.
The kicker with Contracts is that you'll have to take Yama down by yourself. This means no getting a friend to carry you, but more importantly we wanted to steer clear of figuring out how to handle two players with the same Contract - do they do the fight once and get a reward each? Do they have to do the fight twice and risk falling out if one of them underperforms in one of the fights? How do Iron players factor in to all of this?
We think this is the easiest path forward to avoid friends potentially having averse interactions with each other while fighting what's supposed to be a fun boss! Perhaps we're wrong on this (recent conversations suggest that the jury is very much still out) and we're open to adjustments once people have had time to get to grips with them, but for now we reckon this is the most sensible approach. To reiterate: we are open to adjustments down the line if they're felt necessary once you've gotten hands-on!
With today's release, you'll be able to obtain Contracts and see what the rewards are, but Yama has jumbled his terms illegibly - they'll be revealed when Contracts are turned on. We're aiming to enable Contracts fully next Friday, May 22nd, giving us time to fix any issues or bugs with the core Yama fight, and allow players time to stock up on them in advance so that any competitions for a World First aren't reliant on getting lucky and being one of the first players with a specific Contract. The added benefit here is that you get Friday and the whole weekend to grind or watch the chaos unfold for yourself, and some time to get to grips with the core mechanics of the fight - similar to the late activation of Awakened variants for the Desert Treasure II bosses.
How do I get them?
You'll obtain a good number of Contracts from Yama himself, we expect that you'll passively accumulate a nice stash of them on your way to ticking off those Collection Log slots. Alternatively, you can target-farm certain Contracts with a lower intensity method if you're willing to help Yama out.
His demons have gotten lazy and could do with being kept on their toes - chat to Yama and learn a little more about exactly how you can help him out. The long and short of it is that by killing demons in the Chasm of Fire in specific ways, you'll have a chance at getting a Contract as a drop. To keep you on the right track, Yama will display a glyph that indicates how he'd like you to dispatch of his slackers - perhaps as simple as 'kill it with Magic' or 'kill it while bound', more active methods of dealing with them result in better odds at Contract drops.
This 'target farm' method is there for you if you're looking to chill out and stack up some Contracts for yourself, or if you've used up all of your stash from Yama himself and still need a couple of attempts, though it's worth noting that some contracts (particularly those with guaranteed, tradeable rewards) can only be obtained from Yama and won't be available from the common Chasm cannon fodder. An added benefit here is that doing a demons Slayer task in the Chasm should be more appealing for players who just want to sell Contracts on, so even if Yama is out of your reach for the time being then you'll still be able to benefit! On top of this, it's an easy lever for us to tweak and make more or less rare if the balance feels off - so we'll be keeping a close eye on the volume of these entering the game, their price, and the 'feel' for Irons.
One thing we will share is that the Contracts for the cosmetic upgrade variant of Oathplate armour, Radiant Oathplate, can be obtained from these demons. We expect this means they'll be in greater supply than Awakener's Orbs and that trying your hand at these contracts shouldn't break the bank like the chase for Sanguine Torva, while also being a much more 'chill' farm for Irons than spending hundreds of hours taking on bosses for any meaningful number of attempts.
This system does share some similarities to the Awakener Orb system, but differ in a number of ways. Contracts for cosmetics are target-farmable and will likely end up much cheaper than Orbs, while rarer Contracts will guarantee some kind of tradeable reward that will make them more than worth the initial cost, meaning it doesn't feel like a waste to keep coming back.
We're really excited to see you pushed to your limits and can't wait to see the kinds of off-the-wall setups and techniques you come up with. Even if you're not sure that Contracts are for you, make sure to check out the Old School RuneScape category on Twitch or Kick once they're activated. It's bound to be some of the best streamed content this year!
Rewards
We know what you’re really here for, and so does Yama, which is why he’s prepared a selection of fabulous prizes in exchange for your time and effort. Again, you can read all about these in the original blog, but here’s a quick refresher.
Diabolic Worms
These fiery critters will be a welcome addition to any high-level player's Tackle Box!
Bring Diabolic Worms with you to Piscarilius instead of Sandworms and use them to catch Anglerfish as a significantly faster rate. Simple – but effective!
Here are some slightly less simple details:
Diabolic Worms are always used before Sandworms.
At level 99 Fishing, your chance of a successful Anglerfish catch increases from 14% up to a whopping 40%.
Once a Diabolic Worm is consumed, your next 'catch' roll has a 50% chance to occur a tick faster.
XP from catching Anglerfish this way is reduced as they're easier to catch and you're learning less in the process.
All in all, this should feel somewhere between a 2-3x increase in the rate at which you catch Anglerfish, so it's definitely worth using these up when you get the chance!
Aether Catalysts
Aether Catalysts are a stackable, tradeable Runecraft resource, which you can use to craft Aether Runes; a brand new catalytic rune combining the powers of Cosmic and Soul Runes.
If you've got 90 Runecraft, you can create these by bringing Aether Catalysts, Pure or Daeyalt Essence, Soul Runes and a Binding Necklace to the Cosmic Altar. Use Magic Imbue from the Lunar spellbook and then use your Soul Runes on the Cosmic Altar to craft Aether Runes. Eventually we're sure you'll be able to craft these in the 'traditional' sense, but we don't have a true Soul Altar or Soul Talismans for the time-being - so we hope you’ve been saving those Astral Runes!
Aether Runes can be traded to other players and crafted while playing Guardians of the Rift, and they’ll be crafted in higher quantities if you're wearing the Raiments of the Eye or using Scarred Extracts. They should fit right in like any other combination rune and save you loads of Inventory space when using the Arceuus Spellbook to its fullest extent.
As the cherry on top, you can use these for charging items anywhere you'd expect to use Soul Runes, including Tumeken’s Shadow, Elidinis’ Ward (f), Soulbearer, Ring of Shadows, or your Player Owned House Portals. After today’s update other combination runes will work the same way – so you could use Lava Runes in place of Fire or Earth runes to charge items or create portals if you'd like!
Death Charge Upgrade
If you're lucky, you might be able to benefit from Yama’s mastery over the paltry parlour tricks in the Arceuus spellbook.
The Rite of Vile Transference is an untradeable scroll that can be obtained from Yama. Once read, your Death Charge will be able to convert two souls from slain enemies into Special Attack energy.
Remember that the cooldown starts on spell cast and not once you've killed an enemy, so this should always be an upgrade.
Despite being an untradeable unlock, this one is fairly common and does have a pity drop mechanic to prevent you from going dry - so long as you're able to hold your own against Yama, you’re sure to pick this up before too long!
Demonic Tallow and Surge Potions
Even though it might not feel like good fortune, being rewarded with a goopy mess of tradeable Demonic Tallow is a blessing in disguise!
So long as you've got Level 81 Herblore, you can combine Demonic Tallow with an unfinished Torstol potion and a drop of your own blood (don't worry, the game does this bit for you) to make an untradeable Surge Potion. Just as you'd expect, the Prescription Goggles and Alchemist's Amulet will help here, so make sure to cash in your Mastering Mixology rewards if you want to squeeze every last drop out of that Tallow! Oh, that’s a horrible image. Let’s move on.
Surge potions are four-dose potions which you can sip once every five minutes to restore 25% of your Special Attack energy. This five-minute cooldown will persist through logout, so if you log out with three minutes left until your next sip, you'll still need to wait three minutes after logging back in to take another. This cooldown will reset upon drinking from an Ornate Rejuvenation pool, leaving a raid, leaving the Fortis Colosseum, or dying (bit of an extreme way to dodge a cooldown, but we don’t judge).
For all you speedrunners out there, this cooldown does not tick down between waves at the Fortis Colosseum or Inferno, or between rooms at the Theatre of Blood (dying between rooms inside the Theatre of Blood and Tombs of Amascut also does not reset the cooldown) - so there's no use waiting the timer out, wait for the right moment and time those sips carefully!
Soulflame Horn
While some bits of group content do a great job of giving players roles to perform, most of it devolves into you and your friends doing the same thing you always do – but together!
But do you hear that? It’s the booming blow of the Soulflame Horn, here to spice up how you tackle group combat.
The real stand-out for the Soulflame Horn is its unique buff-focused Special Attack:
You'll be able to configure a radius around you and a maximum number of players to affect. Once used, the Special Attack consumes 25% per player affected to boost the accuracy of their next hitsplat (meaning only the first of a multi-hit weapon like a Scythe of Vitur or Dual Machuahuitl) within 10 ticks (6 seconds) by 100%, or guaranteeing the accuracy roll in PvM scenarios. This boost applies to regular attacks and Special Attacks the same way, so we're sure you'll find some very creative ways to get the most value out of every ear-splitting Special Attack.
Group Ironmen will be able to benefit from this effect if it's used by another member of their group. Ironmen can freely buff other players, but can only benefit from other players using this Special Attack in the following areas:
Nightmare
Nex
Tombs of Amascut
Theatre of Blood
Chambers of Xeric
Royal Titans
Yama
Let us know if you reckon we've missed any!
Keep in mind that you'll need to have Accept Aid turned on to be granted the buff (assuming you're not an Iron account and have access to this setting), so beware of any incoming Ice Plateau teleport offers from strangers!
Oathplate Armour (or Radiant Oathplate Armour, for the talented gamers among you) is a Slash-focused armour set for endgame players. It boasts a lot of Slash accuracy over Torva, at the cost of some Melee strength - so should shine against enemies with high Slash defence.
You'll be able to obtain all three pieces as drops from Yama, or craft them for yourself using Oathplate Shards.
Oathplate Shards are a reasonably common, stackable drop. If you're struggling to hit that elusive 'jackpot' moment or perhaps going dry on the last piece of Oathplate that you need, you'll be able to use these Shards in the small skilling area at the bottom of the Chasm of Fire, combine them with Infernal Shale (more on that in a moment) and smelt Oathplate bars, which you'll be able to smith into any piece of Oathplate that your heart desires! We expect that if you hit the drop rate for two pieces, you should on average have enough Oathplate Shards to craft a third.
The added benefit here is that the Shards should be a nice bit of consistent cash even if you just sell them as you get them, helping us keep profit consistent without relying heavily on things like alchables.
We know that the visuals for Oathplate have split the community a little, so there’ll soon be a survey on how you feel Oathplate performs alongside other parts of your setup and in different environments.
Chasm of Fire Amenities
While Yama may be the main attraction down in these fiery depths, there's plenty more to do!
Players can obtain Contracts by ‘dealing with’ demons in specific ways. Upon initiating combat with a demon, Yama will make a glyph appear above their head. The colour of this glyph indicates how he'd like you to dispose of them for a chance at obtaining a contract. If you're not sure what a certain colour means, The Voice of Yama or the Cultist at the entrance to the Chasm will give you a refresher.
Additionally, you'll be able to check the 'active' contract at the Voice of Yama, who will indicate the method you should use for the best possible odds at a given time.
The various methods and associated glyph colours are:
Purple: Kill a demon using a Heavy Ranged weapon, like a Crossbow or Ballista.
Green: Kill a demon using a Magic spell (not a powered staff), like Water Surge or Dark Demonbane.
Blue: Kill a demon using a two-handed Melee weapon.
Yellow: Kill a demon whilst the demon is bound, or with the damage from a binding spell.
Red: Kill a demon with a Special attack. This one has better odds at giving you a contract than the others, since Special Attack is a finite resource.
Keep in mind that some Contracts can only be obtained from Yama himself, but Contracts for the Radiant Oathplate cosmetic variant can be obtained from killing regular ol' demons.
If combat's not your scene, you could head to the north-western section of the bottom floor and check out the new skilling area. This section of the Chasm serves as home base for Oathplate creation, so if you've got a surplus of Oathplate Shards then you best get familiar. Fortunately, a local imp is willing to give you a helping hand, if you just sign a crumpled up piece of paper – don’t worry about the fine print, it’s all boilerplate.
To take those Oathplate Shards and make them up into a piece of Oathplate armour, you'll have to get your hands dirty. Starting off, you'll need to mine (or buy) some Infernal Shale! When it comes to Mining this new ore (requires Level 78 Mining, boostable), you've got options: very low-intensity (think Shooting Stars, but not quite as AFK), active (similar to mining Mithril or Coal) or very active if you fancy a spot of tick manipulation, which you could make even more active by chiselling your shale down. For this, you'll need to obtain a special cloth from the aforementioned imp and get used to a slightly different rhythm. Good luck!
Check out this clip here! If this clip looks hellish, remember that there are much lower intensity options available!
Once you've stacked up a big pile of crushed Infernal Shale and Oathplate Shards, it's time to smelt some Infernal Chunks (requires Level 83 Smithing, boostable). Use the furnace to heat them up, and the pool of ichor to cool them down. Time your clicks properly and you'll be able to chew through chunks at record pace.
Now, ready those clicking fingers and head over to the anvil - maintain a steady hand and an even steadier rhythm to hammer those chunks into lovely bars, which you'll be able to use to make any Oathplate Armour piece you like at the anvil in the Chasm.
Even if you're not looking to make a piece of Oathplate, mining Infernal Shale may well prove a solid Mining moneymaker - it's hard to predict exactly how solid because the relationship between Shale and Shards remains to be seen, but keep an eye on the prices here and you may emerge from the Chasm of Fire far richer than you went in!
All that's left is for you to get down into the depths and take on Yama for yourself. Get geared, group up, and good luck!

More from Poll 84
Poll 84 updates keep coming in, and this week brings one of the most-anticipated updates from the poll, as well as a minigame QoL. Let's dive right in...
Today is the day for those who were eagerly waiting for the Zulrah update from Poll 84: the ability to deal Melee damage to Zulrah is here!
To provide some context, contrary to the main game, it was possible to engage Zulrah with Melee directly in Leagues: Raging Echoes. The interesting results we saw in Leagues led to this specific update - you can now use Halberd attacks to damage Zulrah.
That said, Melee does not replace your traditional Mage or Range strategies at Zulrah; it's a fun alternative if you want to experiment with different play styles. We’ve tested the best mainhand Halberd available (the Noxious Halberd), paired with high-tier gear like Torva and Oathplate, and while Melee offers some benefits, it doesn’t outcompete the current best-in-slot setups for Mage or Range.
So when might Melee come in handy?
Melee could be useful in specific situations, especially if your Melee gear is significantly stronger than your Mage or Range setup.
For example, during the Crimson (red) phase, Melee can outperform some Magic setups. This means that depending on your gear, Melee could be a viable alternative in this phase. If you're considering incorporating Melee into your strategy, it might be worth checking your setups and running the numbers to see if it fits your playstyle.
The Crystal Halberd’s special attack could also help in finishing off phases, but it’s not a game-changer overall.
In other words, this update offers a fresh option for those who want to switch things up, without drastically altering the core mechanics of Zulrah fights. Most importantly, the big snake is right there, it only makes sense that a slightly longer weapon should be able to hit it!
Giant's Foundry Bonus Action Ticks
One for the Giant's Foundry enjoyers: If you're quick on the clicks and hit the bonus action shortly after it appears, you'll not only finish your sword faster - you'll now also recover a portion of any missed quality (given any was missing). This should make your bonus actions even more rewarding, giving you a little extra for your precision. If you weren't speedy enough for your sword to recover quality though, don't worry - you'll still gain the usual progress on your sword.
The Bunny Has Left the Building
One moment you’re performing interpretive carrot dances for a disillusioned bunny in a dingy underground pub, and the next… it’s time to sweep up the chocolate, pack away the eggs, and say goodbye to Easter.
Yup, the 2025 Easter event has officially hopped off into the sunset. If you didn’t get a chance to play it, there’s always next year! Assuming the Easter Bunny doesn’t unionise.
This week's game update has packed away the vegetables, cleared out the pub, and returned the bunny to his natural state: unconscious until 2026.
...
“Hang on, that’s it this week?”
Yup. That’s the blog...
Okay, fine - there’s a bit more context to add.
Blame Yama
We know this week’s update is a small one, but that lets us make sure we'll be prepped and ready for the launch of our brand new, endgame duo boss, Yama - coming next week, on May 14th!
Therefore, we’re putting all our energy into making sure Yama’s debut is as easy as possible. So, if you're wondering why this week's update is a small one then, blame Yama - just do it quietly; there's no telling how he might react if he hears you...
But let us be clear: Yama is not messing around. This lad has near unlimited power and could wipe you from existence whenever he felt like it.
Make sure that you are prepared, because one week today, you'll be able to face the Master of Pacts! And in the meantime, you can find a duo to take on the challenge together, unless you plan to brave the fight solo. You and who?

Loot Tracker Bug Fix
We've fixed a long standing bug where Loot Tracker databases can become corrupted, manifesting in game with noticeable stutters when ground items spawn, and in worst case scenarios, may have resulted in a crash. The fix addresses this moving forwards; however, for anyone already affected, there's a manual step to fix your current Loot Tracker.
This process may take up to a minute and may slow your game while running, so we recommend finding a safe area before running these steps.

Poll 84 updates continued! The second batch brings you more QoL changes featuring the Abyssal Sire rework, a fixed layout at Chambers of Xeric, an Agility shortcut at Varrock and more…
Changelog - April 30th
[expand type=show more]
Poll 84 Changes: Batch II
Things have just got snappier at Abyssal Sire:
Shortened the boss' Lung Phase.
Abyssal Sire is now targetable during its transition phases.
Boosted Sire's speed to match the player's running pace.
Implemented a minimum hit of 50% of your weapon’s max hit, allowing end-game setups to one-phase the vents more reliably.
Demonbane weapons are now also able to one-shot these vents.
Increased Sire’s HP by 25 and introduced a 50% damage reduction during its transition phases, to balance out the above changes.
Removed some blocking terrain in the centre of the arena.
Scions and Spawns have reduced defence 80 → 50 and 30 → 10 respectively.
Demonbane weapons are now guaranteed to hit vs spawns.
Introduced a "Full" layout toggle in the CoX raid creation interface, allowing you to generate a Challenge Mode (CM) style layout for regular Chambers of Xeric (CoX) raids.
This means all the rooms appear in the same predictable order just like in CM.
The bosses scale to the regular CoX difficulty, with no CM-specific rewards or increased HP.
Unprotected Chinchompas now behave like regular items on death - they’ll go straight to your Gravestone or Death Pile, giving you a chance to recover them.
Replaced the "Destroy" option with a "Drop" option, resulting in Chinchompas to be dropped on the ground as any other item would.
Added an Agility shortcut at the Varrock Castle Garden, allowing you to hop over the fence, given you have Level 35 Agility and have completed Garden of Tranquillity.
Both the main-hand and off-hand variants of the Imcando Hammer can now be used on Entrana.
Re-implemented: Moving Fishing spots no longer stall players mid-run.
Other Changes
Lily of the Sands should now be correctly used from the Reagent Pouch when making Menaphite Remedies.
The monks of Entrana now allow you to take the Carrot costume hat to their island.
Some tiles on the upper floor at the southern end of Ferox Enclave were not acting as safe zones in PvP Worlds. They have now been made safe.
Echo boots can now be reverted to Guardian boots on a F2P world, in case their owner wishes to sell them.
Adjusted the placement of the Gravestone timer in relation to the Deadman state icon so that the time left can be read easier.
Pollnivneach is now correctly spelled in the Max Cape teleport menu.
Fixed a typo in the chatbox message that appears while creating a Prestige GIM.

Poll 84 Changes: Batch II
We're picking up where we left off with the Poll 84 changes, and bringing more of those sweet sweet QoL improvements that you love to see. From PvM to skilling, here's what's new in Gielinor...
Abyssal Sire Rework
Things just got a lot snappier at the Abyssal Sire fight!
One of the biggest pain points with this boss has been the long transition phases, especially the Lung Phase, which tended to drag things out. With this rework, we’ve shortened Sire's Lung Phase to keep the fight moving at a faster pace.
To further reduce downtime and keep the momentum going, Abyssal Sire is now targetable during its transition phases, so you won’t be left standing around waiting for it to power up.
Likewise, in order to address Sire's sluggish movement, we've boosted its speed to match the player's running pace.
For those of you using end-game setups, we’ve implemented a minimum hit of 50% of your weapon’s max hit versus the respiratory systems, allowing you to more reliably finish this phase with a single Shadow Barrage. Demonbane weapons are now also able to one-shot these vents.
To balance out these changes and ensure the fight doesn’t become too short, we’ve increased Sire’s HP by 25 and introduced a 50% damage reduction during its transition phases. This should ensure the challenge is maintained without the unnecessary delays, though kills will still be faster on average than before.
A few extra tweaks we've made also include:
Removed some blocking terrain in the centre of the arena.
Scions and Spawns have reduced defence 80 → 50 and 30 → 10 respectively.
Demonbane weapons are now guaranteed to hit vs spawns.
Gear up and off to Abyssal Nexus you go!
CM Layout at Regular CoX
This one is for all you raiders of Gielinor! Ever wished your Chambers of Xeric runs came without the unpredictability of the room layouts? That is now an option as of this update.
You can choose the "Full" option to get the CM style layout in a regular CoX raid. If you can’t see the image above, click here!
We’re excited to introduce a "Full" layout toggle in the raid creation interface that would allow you to generate a Challenge Mode (CM) style layout for regular Chambers of Xeric (CoX) raids. This means all the rooms appear in the same predictable order just like in CM, offering a consistent layout for those who prefer it. It's the same boss difficulty and rewards as a regular Cox, meaning the bosses scale to the normal mode difficulty, with no CM-specific rewards or increased HP.
Speedrunners: The consistent layout makes the process a bit smoother by eliminating the need to re-roll for certain rooms. This gives the speedrunning community an option for 'normal' Chambers of Xeric runs in a new category, without requiring specific layouts to compete.
Challenge Mode learners: This option is great for practicing CM mechanics in a less stressful environment. By having a fixed layout for all rooms, you can get comfortable with the flow of the raid, perfect your gear choices, and learn when to use certain potions or tactics. This is especially helpful for newer players who want to practice CM procedure and familiarise themselves with the timing, preparation, and strategy without the stakes of a full CM raid.
CoX room explorers: By avoiding re-rolling for specific layouts, you'll be able to practice each room in the same order and get the most out of your learning experience.
For short, this change allows players to get a taste of Challenge Mode mechanics without the added intensity, making it ideal for those looking to improve their raiding experience. And don't worry - this change won’t impact the current metas or strategies in CoX. While it may save some prep time and make things a little more efficient, overall dynamics of the raid will remain unchanged.
Chinchompa Insurance
Chinchompas are your deadly cute fluffs you've worked so hard for and it sucks to lose them to a disconnect or a PvM death. But no more of that! As of this update, any unprotected chins go straight to your Gravestone or Death Pile, just like normal items, so you have a chance to recover them.
We've also replaced the "Destroy" option with a "Drop" option, resulting in Chinchompas to be dropped on the ground as any other item would, instead of running away.
Both of these changes mean that your Chinchompa will stick around like any other loot would in PvM. However, don't forget that this does not apply to PvP and your opponent still gets your unprotected chins fair and square!
Ever wished you could vault that garden fence when doing a certain master clue step? Well, now you can! We're looking to add more ways to speed up your journey, and first up on the list is the Varrock Castle Garden: you can now hop over the fence to skip the long walk around the palace. All you need to make the jump is Level 35 Agility and completion of Garden of Tranquillity quest. Stay tuned for more shortcuts making way (literally) into the game as part of Poll 84.
Imcando Hammers on Entrana
When it comes to entering Entrana with weapons, it's a case of "You shall not pass" - but Imcando Hammer being on this list is a bit of a head-scratcher. Despite being considered a weapon, the Imcando Hammer has zero stats and doesn’t even speed up unarmed combat - so why can’t it be brought to Entrana? One clever skiller even reported that their niche methods could benefit from bringing the Imcando Hammer, as it would help save inventory space.
Because of these reasons, we’re whitelisting both the main-hand and off-hand variants of the Imcando Hammer to be used on Entrana. You shall now pass! Plus, you can finally free up that precious inventory space without losing out on any of the hammer’s utility.
Back in Business: Moving Fishing Spots No Longer Stall Movement
Last week, we rolled out an update that prevents moving fishing spots from stalling your movement. However, we spotted some fishy behaviour following this update and had to revert it to fix the issue. The underlying problem has now been resolved, and the update is live once again: If a fishing spot moves while you're running towards it, it will no longer stall your movement or force you to stand idle. You can now click straight to the new location immediately, without getting caught in any weird pathing.
Yama is two weeks away!
We just wanted to drop in and remind you to mark your calendars for the release of Yama, the Master of Pacts on Wednesday, May 14th. That's in two weeks!
We can not wait to see the lot of you get hands-on, squadding up with a friend or going it alone against Yama, whether you're challenging him in his most inhibited 'base' form or signing one of a number of Contracts that sees the Master of Pacts pulling fewer punches...
Naturally there's a whole host of rewards (which you can read about here), but one that's sparked more conversation than most is the new, Slash-focused Oathplate armour. Last time we showed it off, it was rendered in an out-of-game environment, so here's a look at both Oathplate variants alongside some other endgame armour sets (and also Justiciar is here...)
We'll see you in the Chasm of Fire on Wednesday, May 14th, so make sure to dust off those demonbane weapons!
Until then, Yama returns to the shadows with a click of his fingers...

Poll 84 brings summer sweep-up changes, including demonic gorilla improvements, Bird Nest QoL, and more! We've noticed something 'fishy' with the behaviour of Fishing Spots from reports received after today's game update. A hotfix has been released to revert the change.
Changelog April 23rd
[expand type=show more]
Poll 84: Misc Mayhem
You'll no longer have a random chance to find nothing when searching the Tower of Life crates during the quest.
Finding a Beginner Clue Scroll in a Bird Nest in a members’ world will no longer cause the Bird Nest to disappear.
Bird Nests now auto-queue when opening, letting you open them all with a single click. This is not true for Clue Nests.
You will now be shown a "Did you know?" tip in the chat when you log in. You can customise the colours in the Chat section of the Settings menu, and you can also turn it off completely.
Tortured and demonic gorillas will no longer be aggressive once you have completed Monkey Madness II, and will now swap prayers for every 70 damage taken, instead of 50.
Made the Warmth bar in Wintertodt narrower to avoid visual clutter. Additionally, the player's Health bar no longer appears alongside the Warmth bar when you get hit by the cold.
Players can now toggle the visibility of falling snow overlays in multiple locations.
Other Changes
Untradeable Bonds can now be converted in the Conversion menu using Coins from your Bank, not just your Inventory.
The Bond Pouch interface now correctly states that Ironmen can gift Bonds.

Poll 84: Misc Mayhem
No Old School update is complete without a grab bag of quirky QoL tweaks and fixes! This batch of updates is packed with the kind of changes that don’t steal the spotlight but still deserve their time to shine. From gorilla behaviour tweaks to Bird Nests, here’s what’s fresh in the land of Gielinor.
Gorilla Aggression
After completing Monkey Madness II, you’ve proven yourself more than capable of handling Gielinor’s primate problems - so why are tortured and demonic gorillas still acting like you're invading their jungle gym? With this change, we’ve made it so that they’ll no longer be aggressive post-quest. On top of that, they will now swap Prayers for every 70 damage taken instead of 50, giving you a bit more breathing room during fights.
Ever feel like you log in and immediately forget what you were doing? Now you’ll be greeted by a random "Did You Know?" tip offering helpful reminders, fun factoids, or the occasional game mechanic you might’ve missed. You can customise the message colours in your settings or turn them altogether off if you're too wise for tooltips. We’ll be expanding this feature over time with even more nuggets of wisdom!
Good news for nesters! Snagging a Beginner Clue Scroll from a Bird Nest on members’ worlds no longer makes the nest vanish into the void.
Also, opening Bird Nests will now auto-queue, letting you crack through your whole stash with a single click. Much easier on your poor fingers, although you’ll still need to open Clue Nests manually. If you prefer to open Bird Nests the old way, spam-clicking remains a viable option.
The Warmth bar during Wintertodt games was getting a little bulky - especially when the arena was packed. We’ve made it narrower and cleaner, so it won’t clutter up your screen. On top of that, your HP bar won’t awkwardly overlap with the Warmth bar when you take cold damage. It’s a subtle update, but your eyeballs will thank you!
You can now toggle off the falling snow overlays seen in places like Waterbirth Island. This one’s for anyone who finds the effect visually uncomfortable or distracting – a small setting with a big impact for accessibility! Be warned that in places where damage usually accompanies falling snow, you will still be affected. The changes are kind to your eyes, not your HP.
If you've ever scoured the crates in the Tower of Life during the quest, only to be met with the crushing disappointment of finding nothing, you’ll be glad to hear that from now on you’ll always get something from those crates.

Other Changes
Untradeable Bonds can now be converted in the Conversion menu using Coins from your Bank, not just your Inventory.

Ghommal and Laidee now give up-to-date information about how to earn Combat Achievement ranks.

Easter Event 2025
Our egg-stra special friend, the Easter Bunny, has vanished like your GP after a bad PKing trip. The flowers aren’t blooming, the chocolate eggs aren’t rolling, and the citizens of Varrock are feeling disturbingly un-festive. Something’s wrong... Something’s eggstremely wrong!
This year’s Easter event is a mystery filled with strange clues, stranger characters, and a journey that will take you somewhere you’ve never been before. Things kick off in Varrock, where some less-than-jubilant citizens are wondering what happened to their favourite egg-centric holiday. Something about... carrot bits? Hmm.
Follow the clues to hunt down the Easter Bunny and bring spring back on track!
Completing the event will earn you a new seasonal outfit that will certainly help you stand out in the dark. You’ll also receive Easter rewards from any previous events you’ve missed.
Join us on April 17th at 16:00 BST for a special Easter Livestream, hosted by the ever-charming Mods Ayiza and Sween!
We’re starting things off in true Easter spirit with a fashion-scape parade, starting from Lumbridge and ending in Varrock on World 522! Grab your most eggshellent Easter outfits and strut your stuff as we march toward this year’s event.
J-Mod Hide and Seek
Once we arrive in Varrock, it’s time for a classic Easter egg hunt! We're hiding, you’re seeking. Find the egg-tastic J-Mods nesting around Gielinor. The first one to trade with them gets five Bonds. Nice!
Egg Decorating Competition Finale
Don’t forget to tune in for the livestream vote, where Twitch chat will decide the three winners of the Egg Decorating Competition! Check out all the entries in our #egg-competition channel on Discord.
In a grand finale, Mods Ayiza and Sween will be exploring RuneScape: Dragonwilds live on stream! You won’t want to miss this one.
Permanent Deadman Tweaks
While most of Gielinor are busy hunting eggs and examining root vegetables, our fiercest warriors in Permanent Deadman Mode have been busy dying gloriously on the fields of battle! To help them out, we’ve got a fresh bunch of tweaks and fixes.
No More Quest Blocking
We’ve seen too many brave souls get stuck in group quest limbo, so Heroes' Quest and Shield of Arrav will now autocomplete for all eligible Deadman accounts, including anyone who’s made progress on them before. No more begging for a Phoenix Gang partner just to slap some gloves on!
S.T.A.S.H. Units are Live
These convenient hidey holes are now completely functional in Permanent Deadman! Build them, store clue gear in them, and save precious Inventory space like a true clue master.
Nimbleness Charm Improvements
The Nimbleness Charm now works with more Agility shortcuts that were previously snubbed due to different checks under the hood. If it didn’t work before and should’ve - it probably does now! Just keep the Charm in your Inventory and it should work… well, like a charm!
Better Breach Rewards
We’ve adjusted the drop rates for breach monsters, giving you a much higher chance to hit the unique loot table. This includes Charms, Trinkets, and those deliciously deadly Ancient Warrior weapons.
Ruby Bolts Nerfed
We’ve reinstated a fix from Deadman: Armageddon! Ruby Bolt (e) Special Attacks are now capped at 30 damage against breach monsters. That’s right, no more one-tapping your way to domination with gemstone gimmicks. Still powerful, just not 100-damage powerful.
Keep the feedback coming and the loot flowing!
Feedback Wanted: Bank UI Changes
In Poll 84, we’re asking if you’d like to deposit the contents of handy items like the Fish Barrel, Coal Bag, Seed Box, and Log Basket straight into your Bank. Very nice. Very tidy.
That functionality is in the poll, but there’s one small catch: to make this magic happen, we need to squeeze in a shiny new Deposit Container button somewhere on the Bank interface, but space is precious!
The current bank layout has four separate buttons at the bottom. Two are for Rearrange Mode (Swap/Insert), and two are for Withdraw As (Item/Note). We’re thinking we could turn those into two tidy toggles instead.
Same functions, less button clutter, and just enough room left over to squeeze in that sweet, sweet Deposit button.
Familiar functions? Still there. New button? Included. Interface clutter? Decreased. Vibes? Immaculate.
But what do you think? Is this an improvement, or do you hate it with every pixel of your being? Let us know! Your feedback will help us fine-tune this feature if it passes the poll, so speak now or forever hold your peace.

As promised in last week’s update, we’ve reverted the Tool Leprechaun location changes and the movement restrictions on gardeners.
Players can no longer receive a Farming Contract through the "take another contract" option if they no longer meet the level requirement.

PSA: We're aware of an issue affecting some players on Android devices where the game may take longer to load than normal, and may cause game not responding device notifications. We're investigating the issue as a priority. This week’s update brings some handy quality-of-life improvements to Farming and Autocasts!
Changelog - April 9th
[expand type=show more]
Farming Improvements
Gardeners will no longer wander off and will instead remain conveniently stationed at their plots, confined to a 3-tile diameter, ready to assist you.
Leprechauns are now stationed closer to herb patches.
Using a tree seed on a plant pot will now continue planting similar seeds into more pots until you either run out of pots or seeds. Likewise, watering your potted seeds will continue automatically for as long as you have water and unwatered pots of the same type.
Autocast Mishaps
Autocast is no longer cleared when you don't have the level or runes to cast the selected spell; it will instead remain as your selected auto-cast, and once you regain the runes or level, it will begin casting again.
You can now select a spell to autocast regardless of its level or whether or not you have the runes available.
Poll 83: Castle Wars Tweaks
To reduce AFK viability and better support active Castle Wars gameplay, Plaudit Crates have been updated and are now re-enabled for purchase and opening. Coins and runes have been removed, and untradeable arrows and bolts (exclusively for use in Castle Wars) have been added.
The message telling you that you cannot attack a teammate in Castle Wars is now filtered.
The Castlewars Rune pouch will now enable free casts of Humidify.
Logging out and back in a game of Castle Wars will no longer magic another rune pouch into your inventory.
The new barricade cap restricting teams to 7 barricades outside and 10 inside the base now only applies on dedicated Castle Wars Worlds.
8 - 16-bit Music Update
Audio improvements: Transitioned music tracks from 8 -16-bit for improved quality.
Other Changes
While not many of you are using demonbane spells, there are a handful of places that we suspect people might feel this bugfix impacts them. To compensate, we're reducing the Magic defence of some NPCs
K'ril Tsutsaroth has had his Magic Defence reduced from 130 to 80.
Skotizo has had his Magic Defence reduced from 130 to 80.
Demonic Gorillas have had their Magic Defence reduced from 50 to 20.
Cerberus has had her Magic Defence reduced from 100 to 65.
The recently updated rune pouch menu has been tweaked to let you set a custom quantity as the left-click Store/Withdraw option for runes. Use the 'X' quantity button to customise the quantity and set it as the left-click option on your rune stacks.
As Ironmen can already transfer tradeable items to other characters, we've removed the restriction that stopped them from gifting bonds. They can now 'use' a bond on the recipient to offer it as a free gift, like other characters can.
The collection log is now in the hiscores panel in the sidebar.
Added new "Top-floor" and "Bottom-floor" options to the Ladder at the Grand Tree, Lighthouse, and Lumbridge Castle Staircase for faster navigation.
Fixed an issue where the Ancient Sceptre's bonus to Blood spell healing was being rounded down to zero, preventing the benefit from being applied. The calculation has been updated to ensure the Sceptre now provides its intended bonus.
The inventory icon for the Echo Ahrim's Robe top is no longer clipped, and the icon for the Slayer Ring is more centred in its space.
Fixed a bug where 'Withdraw 5' and 'Withdraw 10' bank options behaved incorrectly when the custom quantity for x was set to 0.
The 'Check' option on the Friendly Zombie Pirate now tells you how many times you've opened the locker, once you've gone through his introductory chat.
Fixed typos from While Guthix Sleeps and the Construction cape’s right-click teleport menu.
PvP Rota
The PvP rota has moved to Period B:
560 - (UK) - PvP World
319 - (US) - Bounty Hunter World
579 - (US) - High-Risk PvP World
561 - (UK) - Free-to-Play PvP World
580 - (US) - LMS Competitive
World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been de-activated with this rota.
World 569 (AUS) for Bounty Hunter has been de-activated with this rota.
The PvP Arena is using 'Max/Med' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week.
Farming QoL
We’ve been busy in the garden, making some fresh changes to improve your farming experience!
Gardeners are finally grounded! No more chasing them down - those days are over. Instead, they've been lovingly trapped within a 3-tile diameter, where they’ll remain forever in their tiny, self-made garden prison, waiting eagerly to assist you with your crops. It's like a VIP service... except the VIP is stuck in a tiny square and can't escape. Enjoy thefreedom of never losing them again!
That's not all, because the Leprechauns Have Moved In! Leprechauns are now hanging out closer to herb patches, making it quicker and easier to access that sweet, sweet storage. It's like they knew you were coming...
Finally, planting and watering just got lazy-proofed! You can now use a tree seed on a plant pot and keep planting more similar seeds until you either run out of pots or seeds. No more intense clicking! Also, watering your potted seeds will automatically continue as long as you've got water and unwatered pots of the same type. Now you can water and plant without even thinking about it.
Autocast Mishaps
Ever been drained by that pesky bat in Inferno, gone to heal up with Blood Barrage, and landed straight into the loving embrace of a Jal-ImKot meleer, sending you straight back to square one? Or maybe you brewed down in TOB, Kodai raised high, only to majestically bonk the aggro crab at Nylo, instead of landing that crucial freeze?
Well, suffer no more! because autocast just got smarter!
Your autocast will nowstick around even if you don’t have the level or runes to cast a spell. Once you regain the requirements, it’ll automatically resume casting - because nothing’s worse than panic-switching to your staff, only to find you’re set to whack instead ofzap.
Select any spell to autocast - even if you lack the level or runes.
Autocast won’t be cleared if you temporarily can’t cast the spell.
Ran out of runes or got drained? Your selected spell will be grayed out until you meet the requirements again.
However, some things haven’t changed:
Autocast is still cleared when swapping weapons in the Wilderness.
You still can’t cast spells you don’t meet the requirements for - it just won’t wipe your selection anymore.
Autocast is still cleared when using the Spellbook Swap spell.
What’s in it for you?
Level 3 accounts can now avoid gaining combat XP by keeping autocast set without accidentally smacking something.
No more tragic misclicks in high-stakes fights - your spell will be ready when you are.
So go forth, cast with confidence, and never fear the accidental staff bonk again!
Poll 83: Castle Wars Tweaks
Plaudits Update
Last week, we introduced Plaudits to the Castle Wars reward shop as a way to offer meaningful rewards for participation. While the goal was to support players who genuinely enjoy the minigame, we quickly saw the unintended consequence: a spike in AFK behavior, with some players prioritising rewards over real gameplay.
We heard your concerns loud and clear and temporarily disabled the crates to reassess. This week, we’re reintroducing them - but with important changes aimed at preserving the integrity of Castle Wars while still offering fair rewards.
What’s Changed?
The revised crates now include some untradeable items that can only be used within Castle Wars matches. This includes the Castle Wars Arrows and Bolts, which have the strength of Dragon Arrows and Dragon Bolts, making them powerful tools for the minigame - but they can’t be traded or used outside of Castle Wars, meaning they won’t impact the wider game economy.
Meanwhile, the rest of the crate contents (like blighted supplies and food) remain usable and tradeable, but we’ve removed high-concern items like Runes and GP, which were previously enabling the crates to serve as a profitable AFK money-maker. These changes are intended to make the crates a lot less attractive for passive farming, and a lot more relevant for active Castle Wars players.
We know players have mixed feelings - some would prefer the crates be scrapped entirely, others want the original rewards restored. We hope this middle ground keeps the spirit of Castle Wars alive, offering relevant, balanced rewards without enabling the wrong kind of gameplay.
We’ll keep monitoring how things go, and we’re always open to feedback as we refine things further. Thanks for sticking with us while we work to make Castle Wars the fun, competitive experience it’s meant to be.
In addition, we've also made the following tweaks:
The message telling you that you cannot attack a teammate in Castle Wars is now filtered.
The Castlewars Rune pouch will now enable free casts of Humidify.
Logging out and back in a game of Castle Wars will no longer magic another rune pouch into your inventory.
The new barricade cap restricting teams to 7 barricades outside and 10 inside the base now only applies on dedicated Castle Wars Worlds.
Now back to storming castles and setting things on fire as usual!
8 - 16 Bit Music Update
We wanted to give you an update on some audio improvements we're making to Old School RuneScape.
We were thrilled by the positive response and the genuine enthusiasm you showed for the audio team's efforts in our recent 16-bit blog post. If you missed that, you can check it out here and get the full lowdown.
However, we also heard your concerns about preserving the authentic Old School feel that you know and love.
We understand completely!
Rest assured, maintaining that classic Old School RuneScape vibe is our absolute priority. We're not looking to reinvent the wheel, but rather to polish it, ensuring your auditory experience keeps pace with the game's evolution. Today, we want to dive a little deeper into the musical side of this upgrade, specifically addressing the transition from 8-bit to 16-bit music.
Recently, we've been working on transitioning our music tracks from 8-bit to a more versatile 16-bit format. You might have also noticed a very subtle layer of white noise in some of the music tracks, which this update will smooth out.
What to Expect
In most cases, the change will be minimal, or not even noticeable. The Old School feel of the music you love will remain unchanged. We're rolling out this update for music tracks first. We're holding off on sound effects for the time being, as we want to further refine and improve those before any updates are made.
Why the Change?
This is about a gentle refinement, not a dramatic overhaul. The 16-bit format allows for a cleaner, more versatile OSRS sound. This, in turn, will help us maintain audio quality and lay the important groundwork for any future audio improvements. Go ahead, take a listen, and let us know what you think:
Behind the scenes, we've been hard at work on bringing Yama, the Master of Pacts to life, so we thought we'd drop in and let you know where we're at! This section will assume that you're up-to-date with Yama, so if you need a refresher then make sure to check out the dedicated blog by clicking here.
The core encounter (meaning without any Contracts applied) is more or less finished, so we've invited a handful of players to test what we've got so far. If those playtests go well, we'll be able to lock in a release date and share it with you ASAP so that you can book time off work, stock up on snacks, move to a quiet place in the countryside free from distractions - whatever it is you've got to do to satisfy your PvM itch.
Naturally, we're not going to show off the fight itself here, but we'll give you an exclusive preview of the demon of the hour and his reasonably-sized throne!
This is why you should always double-check the dimensions on your flatpack furniture...
While all of the rewards passed, we know that opinions were divided on the early concepts we showed off for the Oathplate armour, particularly the colour scheme. Below is a first-look at our in-game models for the 'default' Oathplate appearance, and the cosmetic variant unlocked by completing a Contract that makes the Yama fight considerably harder.
Here's how the default appearance looks, we took the original proposal for the more prestigious look and ran with it, but made an even cooler look for the 'flex cosmetic' variant...
Here's what you can expect to see the best of the best rocking! It's a pretty unique colour scheme that really makes this Oathplate variant stand out, but still pairs nicely with a lot of other best-in-slot options!
Eagle-eyed readers will undoubtedly have noticed that we're still calling it Oathplate armour, despite some feedback that 'Oathplate platebody' was a bit of a mouthful and a popular suggestion for the set to be called 'Oathbreaker armour' instead. Narratively, we weren't too keen on 'Oathbreaker' because no oaths have been broken - and we wouldn't recommend looking for any loopholes with Yama either. Some players suggested using words like hauberk or cuisse for the armour pieces, but these don't really match up to the appearance since they're very specific terms. For now, we're sticking with the Oathplate helm, Oathplate chest and Oathplate legs - no 'platebody' needed because the clue's in the name!
Beyond Yama itself, we've made great progress on the Chasm of Fire skilling activities! Take a look...
The video above should give you a look at what you'll find yourself doing if you're looking to earn some GP by skilling or make a piece of Oathplate armour for yourself using armour shards. One player can be seen mining some Infernal shale at a large vein, this is a super laid-back approach that's very low intensity but doesn't yield a high output. Next to them, you can see somebody mining considerably more actively and wiping the sweat from their brow, but there's not a pestle and mortar in sight - we'll leave you to speculate on this one for now, just know that you've got a variety of options for gathering up your Infernal shale.
In the background you can see another player who's all done with mining and starting to smith their Oathplate bars, timing their actions perfectly to smelt and quench at lightning speed. Not shown here is the final step: smithing! While we didn't have enough hands to show it off here, you'll have a neat timing-based Smithing activity to speed up your time on the anvil.
All-in-all, the skilling activities give you a bunch of options for intensity that let you get out what you put in and while they're not exactly 'universal' methods, we think they're a lot of fun and hope you'll enjoy them for yourself on Yama's release, even if you're not looking to take on the formidable demon himself!
That's all we've got to share for now, we're excited to see how our playtesters do this week and to get a release date in front of you as soon as possible, so keep an eye out!

Rules of RuneScape Wording Update
This one's not strictly related to this week's Game Update, but we wanted to make sure you were in the loop!
We've updated the wording on our Rules of RuneScape page so that it matches up with our T&Cs, specifically to the wording around Real World Trading. The following paragraph has been updated:
"Real World trading (RWT) means buying or selling in the real world, for real money or in exchange for anything of value, things that relate to Jagex accounts."
In plain terms, this adjustment is to make clear in the rules (though it was already clear in the T&Cs) that RWT does not need to involve real money and pertains to 'anything of value'. This should make it clearer that performing out-of-game services like using your Twitch channel or Discord server to advertise other Twitch channels or Discord servers in exchange for GP is categorically RWT, as is paying for these services in this manner.
Other Changes
Before we get into the usual bullet point list, we've got one change this week that we'd like to expand on a little.
While playtesting Yama internally, we noticed some unusually high accuracy rolls with Demonbane spells. Turns out that since release, the Purging Staff + Demonbane spells have been more accurate than intended. With this week's game update, we're fixing a bug where Demonbane spells were multiplying accuracy incorrectly with the bonuses from Purging Staff and Mark of Darkness.
While not many of you are using demonbane spells, there are a handful of places that we suspect people might feel this bugfix impacts them. To compensate, we're reducing the Magic defence of some NPCs - we suspect that with these changes, you likely won't notice any difference, but we'll be keeping an eye out for feedback! Keep in mind that Tormented Demons aren't really relevant here owing to their shield mechanic and granting 100% accuracy, so if you're wondering why they're not on the list then you've got your answer.
Now, bring on the miscellaneous changes!

You can now only enter through the Guthix (green) portal to ensure more balanced teams.
Players will now earn 1 additional ticket for participating in a game.
On members worlds, players are now granted Plaudits alongside tickets. These Plaudits can be used to purchase Castle Wars supply crates via Lanthus.
All Castle Wars world changes:
The Castlewars brew now also applies the effects of a Stamina Potion and Super restore when consumed. Note: The reduction in run energy depletion associated with Stamina potions won't occur on F2P worlds.
Helmets can now be worn in Castle Wars, enabling the use of armour set effects.
Bandages now scale with your Hitpoints level and can overheal, similar to Anglerfish.
Castle Wars bracelets can now be handed to Lanthus to store charges, automatically consuming one per game.
You can now use blighted food and cast Vengeance with blighted sacks while in the Castle Wars lobby.
Players now receive a Rune Pouch when entering Castle Wars, providing unlimited runes for select spells. Note, these spells no longer grant casting XP when the pouch is used, but still award XP based on damage dealt. To earn full Magic XP, you will need to drop the pouch and bring your own runes.
A new barricade cap on dedicated Castle Wars worlds restricts teams to 7 barricades outside and 10 inside the base.
Placed barricades now have a coloured rope to indicate what team they belong to.
Barricades can now be placed in front of the respawn barriers.
A new element has been added to the Castle Wars Heads-Up Display, showing the number of barricades your team has placed both inside and outside your base.
Small walls have been added to the stairs and ladder at the respawn point, allowing players to range over them and create more strategic barricade placements.
On non-Castle Wars worlds, players within Castle Wars will be able to shove targets back-to-back using the Dragon Spear and Zamorakian Hasta special attacks. On Castle Wars Worlds, players will still be unable to perform consecutive shoves on the same target.
There is now a table with buckets in the supply room where the bucket spawn used to be.
Fixed a bug where the player's overhead yellow arrow would not disappear after depositing the flag.
Poll 83: Rune Pouch Changes

Fixed a bug where the auto-weed setting was incorrectly appearing off when it was on, and vice-versa.
You can no longer skip one of the shortcut obstacles in the Fremennik Slayer caves by interacting with a different obstacle.
An optional warning has now been added when 'using' items on an Explorer's Ring to alch them. The warning can be disabled via the game's main Settings menu.
Adjusted the Chaos Fanatic's AoE attack so it only affects the last player who engaged in combat.
Removed unintended range blocking from the chaos rift and a fallen tree in the Wilderness to improve consistency as they visually look like you should be able to fire projectiles over them, but previously couldn't.
Selecting the "Experienced" option in the dialogue should set "Casting Alchemy Spells on Untradeable items always triggers a warning" to enabled and "Minimum item value needed for Alchemy spells warning" to 150k.

Poll 83: Castle Wars Update
Castle Wars Brews
Raise your vials, because Castlewars brews just got a double shot of power! Now, when you down a brew, you'll not only get the usual combat kick, but also the effects of a Stamina Potion and Super Restore too! That means more energy to sprint into battle and a quicker recovery to keep you in the fight.
Helmets On
Hood holding you back? No more! Players can now wear helmets in Castle Wars, unlocking all those coveted armour set effects – whether you're sporting Torva or rocking that Void, now you can look sharp and fight even sharper!
Bandages That Mean Business
No more half-hearted healing! Bandages in Castle Wars now scale with your Hitpoints level and can overheal, just like Anglerfish. That extra bit of health could be the difference between a quick retreat and a triumphant comeback. Slap on those bandages and charge back to the fray with confidence!
Portal Changes
If you love the color green, then get ready to celebrate because Guthix is taking over! Castle Wars has always been a blast, but those one-sided games? Not so much. We’ve borrowed a little magic from Soul Wars to bring back the balance.
Now, on dedicated Castle Wars worlds, you’ll be entering only through the Guthix portal, ensuring that teams are more evenly matched. No more Saradomin and Zamorak portals causing team stacking! We’re putting a stop to those unfair sides once and for all.
Prefer your games the old way? No worries! If you're playing on a regular world, you can still waltz through any portal and pick your side. No green pressure there.
We hope these changes will make every match more competitive, more exciting, and more fun. So grab your Ancients, rally your team, and get ready to battle - this time, it’s going to be a fair fight!
Bracelets in Castle Wars - they're great for those sweet buffs, but let's face it, they often get tossed aside at the start of the game. Well, worry no more - Lanthas has got your back and is here to save the day (and your bracelets)!
With this update, you can now store bracelet charges with Lanthas, keeping them safe for future battles without the hassle. You can even store noted versions! At the start of each game, one charge will automatically be used, and if you're not feeling it, this feature can be toggled on or off.
Lanthas won’t just take your bracelets and run, though - a confirmation prompt ensures you don’t accidentally deposit more than intended. If you’ve got a handful of bracelets, the Deposit-X option lets you store multiple at once.
Castle Wars Rune Pouch Update
Ready to cast spells without the headache of remembering your runes? Introducing the Rune Pouch to Castle Wars!
When you jump into a Castle Wars game, you’ll be handed a temporary Rune Pouch loaded with all the runes you need to cast your favorite spells. Forget about worrying if you packed the right runes - just hop in and start casting! Here’s the catch though: This pouch won’t earn you any cast XP for spellcasting, but you will still get XP for dealing damage! To earn full Magic XP, you will need to drop the pouch and bring your own runes.
Dropped your pouch or accidentally lost it in the heat of battle? No worries! You can grab another one from the table in your team’s spawn area. For those who prefer their own runes, just ditch the Rune Pouch, and you’ll be back to casting with full XP rewards. If you’ve got both personal runes and the pouch, don’t sweat it – the pouch will take priority when casting, so you won’t end up wasting your personal stash.
What Spells Can Be Used?
The Rune Pouch opens up a world of combat and utility spells across the Standard, Ancient, Lunar, and Arceuus spellbooks. Here’s a breakdown of the spells you can cast, depending on your chosen spellbook:
Standard Spells: Wind Strike, Bind, Snare, Entangle, Saradomin Strike, Claws of Guthix, Flames of Zamorak, and more.
Ancient Magicks: Blood Barrage, Ice Barrage, Smoke Burst, and other PvP-relevant spells.
Lunar Spells: Vengeance, Spellbook Swap, and Energy Transfer.
Arceuus Spells: Ghostly Grasp, Vile Vigour, and Ward of Arceuus.
Also to note:
Spells requiring a staff (e.g., Saradomin Strike, Claws of Guthix) will still require the appropriate staff to cast.
Non-PvP utility spells like High Alchemy and Enchanting remain restricted.
We hope this change lets you dive into Castle Wars without the hassle of packing your own runes, so you can get straight to the action, while still respecting the grind and integrity of your standard magic training methods.
More Tickets, More Loot!
Who doesn’t love a little extra loot? On dedicated Castle Wars worlds, we're boosting your rewards with an additional ticket just for participating. Here’s the new, shiny reward structure:
Dedicated Castle Wars worlds:
No points draw → 2 tickets each
Draw with points → 3 tickets each
Win (both teams scored points) → 3 for winners, 2 for losers
Win (no lost flags) → 4 for winners, 2 for losers
Non-Castle Wars worlds:
No points draw → 1 ticket each
Draw with points → 2 tickets each
Win (both teams scored points) → 2 for winners, 1 for losers
Win (no lost flags) → 3 for winners, 1 for losers
On dedicated Castle Wars worlds, members will now earn Plaudits alongside tickets. These Plaudits can be exchanged with Lanthus for Castle Wars supply crates. Lanthus's store has been revamped with a sleek new interface, but don't worry - the classic rewards are still available at their original prices.
Love a Barricade tactic? We've also made the following tweaks:
A new barricade cap on dedicated Castle Wars worlds restricts teams to 7 barricades outside and 10 inside the base.
Placed barricades now have a coloured rope to indicate what team they belong to
Barricades can now be placed in front of the respawn barriers.

There is now a table with buckets in the supply room where the bucket spawn used to be.
Fixed a bug where the player's overhead yellow arrow would not disappear after depositing the flag.
Rune Pouch Changes
Say goodbye to Rune management headaches! The Rune Pouch UI just got a nice little QoL upgrade with new 1, 5, X, and "All" options for withdrawing and depositing Runes, making swapping them out easier than ever.
Selecting "All" will set it as the default left-click for both actions - so no more right-clicking and hunting for that one pesky option! Plus, your last selection is saved even after logging out, so you won’t have to set it again every time you play.
Fixed a bug causing the Moons of Peril to stop functioning if killed with Sunfire damage.
Fixed a bug where the auto-weed setting was incorrectly appearing off when it was on, and vice-versa.
You can no longer skip one of the shortcut obstacles in the Fremennik Slayer caves by interacting with a different obstacle.
