Deadman: Armageddon & While Guthix Sleeps Tweaks | July 24th
This week sees a few small tweaks to Deadman: Armageddon and While Guthix Sleeps!
Changelog July 24th
[expand type=show more]
Deadman: Armageddon
Significantly increased the rate of the Bleed effect on Morrigan’s Javelin, and increased damage per hit to 10.
The UI now correctly reflects the remaining time before this year's Deadman ends.
Removed warning messages that played when players attuned to Sigil of the Fortune Farmer interacted with Impling Jars.
Increased quantity of Breach NPCs at Region Breaches.
Updated Slayer Points required to choose a Task when using the Sigil of Slaughter from 30 to 60.
Players with less than 90 Slayer Points will be warned that they won’t have enough points to cancel a selected Task.
When attempting to log in to a Deadman world with W45 data, players will now be informed that they must reset their Permanent Deadman account with Nigel in Lumbridge.
Deadman Tournament accounts, specially one Defence pures, can now progress through Heroes’ Quest. Normal Deadman and other normal accounts remain unchanged.
While Guthix Sleeps
Added a teleport to the Guthixian Temple to the tormented demons’ loot table.
Updated the UI with a new multiway icon which indicates whether players can fight one, two, or three demons at a time.
Updated Movaro's notes, restoring some details from the original RuneScape version. Please note that Old School’s lore means there are still some differences.
Lucien has had a makeover! He now looks far more formidable.
Refreshed Laidee Gnonock with updated animations and bulkier armour.
Updated and added extra dialogue throughout the quest to be more in-keeping with the original, though again you will still see many differences.
Recoloured the Balance Elemental and the fight with Surok for accessibility.
Added a chest to Movario’s base which contains the Runes needed for the door puzzle. They will appear there only once.
Thaerisk will now give out a Snapdragon Seed for free rather than charging for it. He still only gives one.
Sapphire Lanterns are no longer destroyed on death.
Akrisae will now provide a one-time teleport to Ice Mountain for the Black Knight section and will also remind you they need a disguise to enter the fortress.
When working on the Herblore puzzle in the Guthixian Temple, the corresponding alternate ingredients will now be returned to you. So for example, if you place a herb on a statue that already has one, the first herb will be given back.
You can now store your Elite Black Armour and the Dark Squall Robes in your Player Owned House.
Your Broav can now roam free within your Player Owned House!
The skeletons in Lucien’s camp will now always be aggressive once Lucien has spotted you, regardless of any disguise. They won’t be fooled twice!
You can now use Runes from your Rune Pouch for the Teleorb.
All tiles around the Guthixian symbol can now be walked on without issues.
The Emberlight can now be used for the Master Clue Scroll step as a stand-in for the Arclight, and can be added to your STASH unit.
Mark of Darkness will now last 5 times longer if the Purging Staff is equipped when cast.
Players can now forge the Emberlight no matter which items they combine first.
Elite dark warriors, rangers and mages have been given Melee, Ranged, and Magic Defence stats.
Updated NPC contact options have been updated to reflect new NPCs.
The Oneiromancer will now acknowledge a certain NPC’s tragic death.
Adjusted the consistency of certain NPC chat heads to reflect story progression.
Flames can now no longer be seen from the floor below during a certain boss fight.
Resolved a graphical issue affecting Emberlight.
Other Changes
The ‘Attack’ option on Zuk is once again visible during the introductory cut scene.
The Undead Pirates’ lockers in the east of the Wilderness no longer open on non-members worlds.
Visiting the Trouble Brewing minigame no longer wipes the effect of 'The Stuff' from any vats you've got fermenting.
Fixed a bug which caused the burning effect from the Eclipse Atlatl and the Burning Claws not to clear upon leaving the Player Owned House Combat Ring. The Burn effect is also now reflected in the buff/debuff bar.
Akkha, Xarpus and Nylos can now all be affected by burn damage.

Deadman: Armageddon Feedback
Deadman Armageddon is in full swing, and we're excitedly watching your progress across social channels, YouTube, and Twitch! If you’re looking to earn some points, snag some cosmetics, and have a scary good time trying PvP, it’s not too late to jump in! We’ve seen loads of folks racking up the points this week, so you’re in good company.
As this is a time-limited event, we’ve been making some speedy hotfixes already:
The Infernal chef now gives Cooked Karambwan as opposed to Poisoned.
If the cyclops room in the Warriors’ Guild is particularly crowded, you'll see more cyclops spawn.
Players can no longer roll the Skilling Supply loot table while mining Rune Essence, and can no longer chop undead trees. This change is brought to you by an extremely low-effort way of mining Sigils that we felt was too strong to live.
The doors in the Grand Tree no longer change locations on Deadman worlds.
You will no longer receive Skilling Supply Loot when in an instance.
This week brings a handful of other fixes:
We’re continuing to monitor Bank Keys and will work to remove (where possible) ‘junk’ items that have an inexplicably high value.
Hopefully these changes will make your Deadman journey a bit smoother! We’ll be keeping an eye out throughout the tournament for any other bugs that pop up.
We're also reducing the number of Deadman worlds, to ensure you're more likely to run into other players. This week we've removed:
3-50
USW: 142, 238, 241, 242
USE: 172,173
UK: 107, 108, 203, 204
DE: 162, 250, 251, 256
AU: 293, 294
51-70
USW: 138, 139
USE: 104, 170
DE: 158, 160
AU: 291
Don’t forget, you have until 12:00 Noon BST on August 2nd to build up your points for the new cosmetic rewards, or to get yourself into the higher combat brackets. Good luck! There’s a slice of our massive prize pool up for grabs, as well as these exclusive winners’ medals…
You could win yourselves one of these medals designed by AngelsScapes!
Then, tune in to the Grand Finale on Saturday, August 3rd live on Twitch at 18:00 BST, where we'll be trying out a brand new format: five finales across five combat brackets, giving everybody an opportunity to optimise their builds and compete like never before.
In the meantime, you can commemorate your Deadman experience with this official logo pin and special Armageddon edition of the Armadyl Godsword keyring from AngelsScapes. The AGS just got even more deadly - and the pin is a replica of the Winners’ Medals!
This week we've made some highly anticipated changes to While Guthix Sleeps!
First of all, a return to an idea we pitched in last week's newspost. We discovered an error that gave players 100% Accuracy against tormented demons, which negatively affected weapon variety and power. To offset this effect, we suggested lowering the demons’ stats while increasing their Magic Defence bonus to compensate. We also planned to have Demonbane weapons reduce their Defence by at least 5%. However, after taking your feedback on board, we’ve decided not to make these changes. We understand that the community has already developed strategies for the existing mechanics, and that you love the unique element it adds to the combat. We’ll still look for small tweaks we can make, but for now, the tormented demons will keep their stats and we won't be fixing the accuracy bug.
We do, however, have some other exciting changes this week – including the addition of a teleport item to the tormented demons’ loot table, which will cut Bank runs significantly.
We’ve also made it easier to see how many demons can be fought in each room with a new multiway combat icon.
In the same vein, we’ve made some general additions to the items available during the quest, to reduce running back and forth to fetch new ones:
Added a chest to Movario’s base which contains the Runes needed for the door puzzle. They will appear there only once.
Thaerisk will now give out a Snapdragon Seed for free rather than charging for it. He still only gives one.
Sapphire Lanterns are no longer destroyed on death.
Akrisae will now provide a one-time teleport to Ice Mountain for the Black Knight section and will also remind you they need a disguise to enter the fortress.
When working on the Herblore puzzle in the Guthixian Temple, the corresponding alternate ingredients will now be returned to you. So, for example, if you place a herb on a statue that already has one, the first herb will be given back.
We’ve also made a few changes to dialogue and text in the quest which bring it more in line with the OG version from RuneScape – although you’ll still notice a few key variations due to the big differences in our wider lore.
Finally, Lucien has had a makeover! He now looks suitably menacing and has put on a bit of muscle, too – no easy feat when you’re a skeleton!
Now, for this week’s smaller changes:
Combat
The skeletons in Lucien’s camp will now always be aggressive once Lucien has spotted you, regardless of any disguise. They won’t be fooled twice!
All tiles around the Guthixian symbol can now be walked on without issues.
Mark of Darkness will now last 5 times longer if the Purging Staff is equipped when cast.
Elite dark warriors, rangers and mages have been given Melee, Ranged, and Magic Defence stats.
Visual
Laidee Gnonock now has updated animations and bulkier armour.
Recoloured the Balance Elemental and the fight with Surok to make them more accessible for colourblind players.
Flames can no longer be seen from the floor below during a certain boss fight.
Adjusted the consistency of certain NPC chat heads to reflect the story progression.
Resolved a graphical issue affecting Emberlight.
Player Owned House
Elite Black Armour and the Dark Squall Robes can now be stored in your Costume Room, if you have one.
Your Broav can now wander free within your Player Owned House! He isn't technically a pet, but we assure you he's perfectly happy there.
Other
You can now use Runes from your Rune Pouch for the Teleorb to reach Lucien's camp.
Emberlight can now be used for the Master Clue Scroll step as a stand-in for Arclight, and can now be added to your STASH unit.
We've ensured that no matter which item you select to use first, you'll always be able to forge the Arclight when combining items.
Updated NPC contact options have been updated to reflect new NPCs.
The Oneiromancer will now acknowledge a certain NPC’s tragic death.
Drop Rates
As is tradition, we'd like to share the drop rates for the unique items you can get your hands on from the tormented demons.
Tormented Synapse: 1/500
Burning Claw: 1/500
Guthixian Teleport: 1/12
Drop table order:
Roll for a Tormented Synapse
If not, roll for a Burning Claw
If not, roll for a unique supply drop (Smouldering items)
If not, roll for regular loot

Deadman: Armageddon
The latest iteration of our fast-paced PvP game mode launches this Friday! Before we get into it, don’t forget to check out this blog, which covers all the mechanics and a full list of everything that’s changed since Deadman’s last outing.
You may be wondering why we’ve chosen to launch Deadman: Armageddon on a Friday, when our game updates are typically a midweek affair. The reason we're moving to 'late on Friday' openings is to give our players the opportunity to start progressing straight into a weekend so that you can hide yourself away from responsibility and get stuck in.
And Deadman: Armageddon will have plenty to get stuck into! This temporary game mode spans two weeks and features rapid account progression, powerful Sigils that redefine your gameplay, worldwide PvP chaos, and Breaches where you'll tackle hordes of bosses while fending off loot-hungry players. It all culminates in a Grand Finale on Saturday, August 3rd at 18:00 BST (tune in on our Twitch channel!) where we'll be trying out a brand new format: five finales across five combat brackets, giving everybody an opportunity to optimise their builds and compete like never before.
If it’s your first time trying Deadman, check out this video featuring tips from our own PvP expert Mod Manked, along with Dino, Skill Specs, Port Khazard, Eliop14, Katerena, C Engineer, Jcw and PureSpam to help you start out strong for Armageddon! Thank you to the wonderful Paak for putting it all together!

What's New?
You can learn everything you need to know about Deadman: Armageddon in this blog, but we’ll share the highlights here.
For the most part, Deadman: Armageddon is building on the success of last year's Deadman: Apocalypse and amplifying things up to 11.
This year, we'll have four Breaches per day and introduce brand-new 'Region Breaches'. Region Breaches see monsters spawn across an entire area such as Misthalin, Asgarnia, perhaps even Varlamore - you'll have to wait and see! An extra breach per day keeps the doctor away, but one of them will spawn at a completely random time, meaning the schedule looks a little like this:
03:00 BST
11:00 BST
20:00 BST
Mystery, totally random time - it could literally pop up at any moment!
The Breaches with a 'fixed' time will alternate between the Breaches you've come to expect from Deadman: Apocalypse and the brand-new Region Breaches, one after the other, for the duration of the tournament. The mystery-time Breach will choose at random between a 'regular' or a Region Breach, so stay on your toes!
Getting involved with Breaches will earn you Points, helping you secure a higher spot on the Leaderboard and a chance to win a slice of this year’s $25,000 Prize Pool.
You can also earn Points by participating in Breaches, or progressing your account through PvM, Skilling, Quests, Combat Achievements, Achievement Diaries, and even Clue Scrolls. This year, for the first time, you’ll also be able to use your Deadman Points to earn tradeablecosmetic rewards for the main game!
These rewards, as voted on by you, include God Cape recolours, Corrupt Weaponry Kits, a new Rug for your Player Owned House, and perhaps our favourite Home Teleport Override Animation to date.
Here's a look at the new Imbued God Cape looks in-game, including Saradomin and Guthix variants that we've not shown off before!
Flex your ferocity to cover up the embarrassment of forgetting to bring a teleport!
Score yourself a snazzy rug, shown here with some neat cut-outs for the details
Above are the models for the Corrupt Dark Bow and Corrupt Volatile Nightmare Staff - you'll be able to snag these looks for yourself alongside Corrupt kits for the Voidwaker and Armadyl Godsword!
You’ll be able to purchase these in the main game from Nigel in Lumbridge Graveyard after Deadman: Armageddon wraps up and your points are transferred over. Just like Leagues, you won’t be able to spend your points on rewards until the event is over.
We cannot stress enough: you earn Points by doing just about anything and all of these rewards are tradeable. Whether you’re a PvP pro or a tentative newbie, there are rewards for everyone – so there’s never been a better time to get into Deadman.
If you do happen to be a seasoned PvP player, you might want to shoot for one of our grand prizes. This year, we’re splitting the Finale into five combat brackets (Combat Levels 45-50, 51-70, 71-90, 91-110 and 111-126). The winners from each bracket will earn a slice of the prize pool, allowing players to theorycraft their way to the win in all kinds of different combat brackets. You can also earn prize money and medals by moving up the Leaderboard and scoring an entry in our raffle draw.
Sounds exciting, eh? Other changes include brand new Breach monsters and Corrupt Weapons, Blighted Overloads, changes to Prayers that are sure to shake-up lower combat brackets, reworked, revived and rebalanced Sigils, Global Loot Table changes, and your first chance to experience Scurrius, Varlamore, and Tormented Demons in a seasonal game mode. Deep breath.
So, what are you waiting for?! Oh, right. You’re waiting for Friday, July 19th at 17:00 BST, when Armageddon begins! See you there... if you dare!
While Guthix Sleeps
This iconic quest made its way to Old School last week, sending players on a whirlwind adventure to stop a powerful artefact from falling into the wrong hands...
We were thrilled to see you all so excited to relive the iconic moments in this quest, embracing the nostalgia and encountering old enemies. Also, have you spied that new loading screen yet? Stunning.
However, we were quickly made aware of a number of feedback points from the community, many of which we addressed in an update to last week’s newspost. The team didn't stop there though and have been working on more hotfixes, which led to the following changes:
Re-renamed the Bone Claws to Burning Claws.
Tormented demons will no longer lose focus on their original target during combat when a new player enters the area, meaning they won't wander off and ruin your strategy.
Tormented demons no longer switch to another player during the special attack if the player they’re already attacking has been in the area a long time.
We have adjusted the spawn locations of the tormented demons so its more straight forward for those who only want to fight one or want to fight multiple.
We also took time to focus on your feedback regarding the tormented demons’ loot table which you should see reflected in-game later today via a hotfix. Here’s what we plan to do:
Remove low tier herbs
Remove some lower value seeds
Remove Fire Runes
Remove Vile Ashes
Up the value of alchables (Adamant becomes Rune, the previous Rune becomes Dragon)
Add an additional Rune alchable
Shortbows, Battlestaves, and Malicious Ashes drop as noted
Reduce the drop rate of Burning Claws (formerly known as Bone Claws) by ~17%
Coupled with the 17% reduction in drop rate, we'd like to take a moment to reassess the power of the Burning Claws. While they deal less damage per hit than some alternatives, their low energy cost was causing them to outperform items like Voidwaker and the Dragon Claws in a few too many cases. "We'll evaluate the spec cost and see whether or not it might need to increase since it's slightly overperforming our expectations.
We're hoping that these changes alongside the fixes to the tormented demon's behaviours will make your wins more satisfying!
The team are still working to address further feedback points, and we'll be keeping you updated as they go.
Other Changes
Stamina Mixes can now be used to charge the Ring of Endurance interchangeably with Stamina Potions.
Mosol Rei’s warning messages for climbing over the cart can now be disabled.

While Guthix Sleeps
This week we're bringing one of RuneScape’s most iconic quests to Old School. It’s While Guthix Sleeps! The incredibly talented OnlyTrails has summed up our latest quest additions in video format for those who might want something to watch during downtime:

If you can't see the video above, click here to watch it!
This Grandmaster quest sees you continue the Mahjarrat storyline, hunting down one of the most powerful artefacts in existence while ensuring it doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
This artefact is known by many names – most recently, the Stone of Jas. It has shaped the course of Gielinor’s history, from the creation of the first Runes to the fall of Zaros. It was last seen at the devastating end of the God Wars, when Zamorak, in a fit of rage, used it to reduce the land of Forinthry to the Wilderness we know today.
Angered by Zamorak’s actions, Guthix rose from his age-long slumber and banished the gods. He hid the Stone of Jas far underground, where it could never disturb the balance again...
But while Guthix sleeps, nefarious forces have been gathering; the Mahjarrat. Shaped by war and deadly ritual, their plans for the Stone can only lead to catastrophe.
Facing off against the Mahjarrat is nothing new for dedicated adventurers – at every turn, they seem to grow in power and wage war against the people of Gielinor. In their last attempt, we saw them set out to tear Varrock apart with an undead army in Defender of Varrock. What are they plotting now? You’ll have to play the quest to find out!
If all that lore is a bit much to digest, PoisonedPotion has condensed it all into one epic video breakdown. Check it out below:

If you need a visual, here's where you can start the quest!
Tormented Demons
As part of this historic quest, we're summoning back an iconic enemy: the tormented demons. Wreathed in flame and called forth to stop you meddling in Mahjarrat plans, these monsters aren't to be taken lightly. But with great risk comes great reward, as the tormented demons have the chance to drop the Tormented Synapse and the brand-new Bone Claws. You'll need to collect two of the dropped Bone Claw and put them together to form the new weapon.
The Tormented Synapse is a tradeable unique drop that can be used to craft three new Demonbane weapons: Emberlight, the Scorching Bow, and the Purging Staff. You’ll need at least level 74 in the relevant skill to craft all three weapons. Unlike other craftables, we’re not giving you the option to have a skilled NPC craft it for you. This means that mains and Irons alike will have to graft for their spoils, but these powerful weapons are well worth the effort.
We developed all four new weapons, including the Bone Claws, through community consultation, taking on your feedback and tweaking the stats so each item felt more in-line with their positioning.
Demonbane Weapons
We discussed all the new weapons in detail in our rewards blog, but there have been a few tweaks since then. Let’s get up to speed...
Emberlight is created from a fully charged Arclight and a Tormented Synapse, and you'll need 74 Smithing to do it. You no longer need to charge this weapon with Ancient Shards. It has increased Stab and Slash Accuracy, as well as the same 70% increased Accuracy and Damage bonuses as its predecessor. Additionally, it improves on Arclight’s Special Attack, lowering the Strength, Attack and Defence of demons by 15% of their base level +1, and non-demons by 5% of their base level +1. That’s a 5% increase!
Scorching Bow requires 74 Fletching and a Tormented Synapse, but once created has 124 Ranged Accuracy and 40 Ranged Strength. It also has 30% increased Accuracy and Damage against demons, plus a nasty Special Attack which binds your enemy for 5 ticks while dealing 1 bonus damage – and if they’re a demon, it binds them for 20 ticks, increasing the bonus damage to 5.
Purging Staff can be synthesised using a Tormented Synapse and 74 Crafting. Rather than giving you an outright damage boost against demons, this weapon instead autocasts combat spells from the Arceuus Spellbook. On its own that doesn’t sound like such a great reward – but using Demonbane spells will double the bonuses. Additionally, the Purging Staff has a Special Attack. You must be on the Arceuus Spellbook to cast it (which is handy, given the Staff’s effect), and you must be targeting a demon. When used, the Special Attack will cast the highest available Demonbane spell at your target. If your target is killed by the spell, you’ll restore 25% of your Special Attack energy, and the delay on your next attack will be reduced by 3.
If the sight of all those numbers fills you with DEMONIC RAGE, you’re ready to pick up our next weapon...
Bone Claws
As the Dragon Claws are remaining in Chambers of Xeric, we wanted to develop a new set of claws that matched the rush of landing the originals. The Bone Claws also bridge the gap in Melee spec weapons between the cheap and cheerful Dragon Dagger and the monstrously expensive Dragon Claws. You'll find that the Tormented Demons drop the singular Bone Claw, and you'll need to collect and combine two to get your hands on the finished Bone Claws.
This weapon works much the same as the latter, while giving you a chance to inflict Burn on your target. While Burnt, the target will be dealt 10 damage over the course of 40 ticks (1 every 4 ticks). This effect can stack up to five times.
So that's two new unique drops leading to four brand new demonic weapons – not a bad haul!
New Discord Emotes
To celebrate the launch of While Guthix Sleeps, we worked with community creator Jordbear to bring a suite of new OSRS and While Guthix Sleeps emotes to our Official Discord server and Twitch channel! You can check out more of Jordbear's work on her website or on her X (Twitter) account.
Staying on theme, we have seven quest-inspired emotes, though to avoid spoilers, we're keeping a couple secret until tomorrow.
We also wanted to have a set of core emotes that encapsulate both classic OSRS vibes and more recent favourites.
We love these familiar faces in Mina's adorable art style, and if you do too, you can have access to them on our Discord server and Twitch channel now. We hope to see you spam your favourites in our future streams!
Speaking of which…
Launch Stream
Tomorrow, July 11th from 16:00 BST you can catch the While Guthix Sleeps launch stream live on Twitch and YouTube! We want your questions, so keep an eye out for our Reddit thread and social posts where you can ask ‘em! Not only will you get to hear firsthand how this quest made its way to Old School, you'll also get to meet our newest Community Manager, Mod Blossom, who’s finally making her livestream debut!
We'll see you there!

To celebrate While Guthix Sleeps coming to OSRS, AngelsScapes has worked her magic on four new limited edition pins! Check out the Tormented Demon, Lucien, Broav, and Surok Magis below. Available on the official merch store now.

Pride Event
As we move from June to July, the 2024 Pride event comes to an end. We hope all of you enjoyed helping Kit on his quest, and we’d like to thank you all for helping us celebrate with pride!
The event may be over, but you can still find Sir Kit Breaker hanging out with Gilbert in the Glade, ready to supply you with any previous years’ rewards you’ve missed out on. He's holding back on this year's rewards though, so you'll need to check back next June for those!
Our team pours so much love into our Pride events and it brings us so much happiness to see you all playing and enjoying them. Thank you again for making Pride 2024 special!
Deadman: Armageddon
With Deadman: All-Stars fresh in our minds we want to take a moment to look forward and remind you all that Deadman: Armageddon will open next week on Friday July 19th, at 17:00 BST!

It really ties the room together!
To read up on all things Armageddon, check out this blog detailing all of the core gameplay features and a recently-updated table highlighting a helping of hotly-requested tweaks.

OSRS at SGDQ!
That's a whole lot of letters...
We wanted to take a moment to extend our congratulations to A Cold One for representing Old School over at Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ for short)!
Games Done Quick are a charity organisation who've been raising money for years via speedrunning marathon events. Near enough every video game you could think of has been featured at a Games Done Quick event and this year Old School RuneScape made its way onto the list!
Congratulations to A Cold One for putting up a very respectable 29:35 Chambers of Xeric: Challenge Mode Solo time while sporting some fetching Mole Slippers, and a huge thank you to everyone who supported his run by watching along at home, donating via GDQ to Doctors Without Borders (a.k.a. Medecins Sans Frontieres) or enjoying a watch party after crashing Keizaron's UIM at Sand Crabs.
You can watch the run back by clicking here or checking out the video below, and even though SGDQ has ended for the year, you can still donate by visiting this page.

You can now collect Herblore supplies from the Perilous Moons dungeon faster.

This week we have a handful of small updates as we get ourselves ready for While Guthix Sleeps!
Changelog June 26th
As we prepare for the launch of While Guthix Sleeps, we’re taking some time to fine-tune a few areas. Next week there will be no update, and while this means none of the usual downtime, we will be rebooting the worlds and swapping the PvP rota.
Improved clickboxes at the Colosseum. All Colosseum NPCs are included, as well as their shadows!
In Bounty Hunter, the Teleport to Target Spell is now accessible via the Arceuus spellbook.
Updated the Kiss the Frog random event such that players no longer need to kiss the frog to get the rewards – the royals will be happy with a simply pat on the head. You are still able to choose to kiss the frog and transform into a frog as before.
Additionally, you may now choose between all rewards from this event regardless of which body type your character has.
Thessalia will now exchange extra Frog Tokens for XP Lamps.
The Ethereal Man or Woman in Lunar Diplomacy is now an Ethereal Being, and their body type will accurately match your character’s.
Added a handy Bronze Axe spawn to the muttadile room in the Chambers of Xeric raid, useable by main and iron accounts alike!
Probita can now look harder for missing pets if her first search failed for some reason.
Upper levels of the bat rooms in Chambers of Xeric should no longer render over the player character model.
TzHaar-Hur-Rin now has the same default stock quantities for all players regardless of account mode.
The word "heavy" no longer appears in daggers' combat style tooltips.
Improved dialogue and other text in Ratcatchers.
Deadman All Stars
On Saturday night we witnessed Old School history in the making! Six teams made up of 30 all-star creators battled it out to win the biggest grand slam we've ever seen, all orchestrated by Solo Mission.
Team captains Odablock, Solo Mission, Dino, Torvesta, B0aty and Faux lead their teams through 10 epic battles to see who would emerge as champions. Following a week of intense grinding and item gathering, the whole crew came together to deliver a battle for the ages. We streamed the finale live on our Twitch channel, with our own Mod Manked and special guest PureSpam expertly shoutcasting the event.
We wanted to thank all the contestants for stepping up to the plate and playing at their sweatiest, all in the name of victory! The biggest congratulations, of course, go to the winning team, Dino Nuggets, made up of Westham, Mika, Muts, Raikesy and of course, Dino. They faced off against the Odablock Warriors in the final, nail-biting round, and came out on top.
We also want to thank you for turning out in your droves to support the event, whether you were watching the Finale on our channel, or tuning into your favourite participant and cheering them on in their chat. This event made for the biggest viewership we've ever seen across all platforms - a monumental achievement!
If you didn't manage to watch it live, you can check in with Solo Mission himself for a catch up, or rewatch the whole thing via our Twitch channel. There's also this handy YouTube playlist of all the action leading up to the finale.

We are investigating a potential issue with our Australian Data Centre. To avoid potential unexpected downtime and safeguard item losses, we will be temporarily taking AUS worlds offline until further notice. If you usually play on Australian worlds, we recommend using West US worlds at this time. We appreciate your patience while we explore further.
We'll update you via the Game Status page as soon as we have further information to share. Thank you for your patience and understanding, the team is working hard to mitigate all risks associated. Toggle Sepulchre instances and suit up for Construction with this week’s QoL update!
Changelog June 19th
[expand type=show more]
Players can now pay 200 Hallowed Marks to unlock private Sepulchre instances, which can be toggled on or off once unlocked.
The Fishing Trawler now divides the rewards between players present when the ship sets off, not players present at the end of the encounter. You may notice a dip in loot or XP rewards after today’s update.
Carpenters’ Clothing now boosts XP when completing Mahogany Homes Construction contracts, with a 2.5% boost when wearing the full set.
Bounty Hunters can now control whether their targets are up to 5, 10 or 15 levels higher than them without affecting the minimum level of their targets. The minimum target level will now always be 15 levels below your own.
Fixed a bug that falsely claimed players had obtained a Clue Scroll every time they opened a Reward Casket with a Master Clue in their possession.
Updated the description of the Dark Lure spell.
Players can now dismantle Ancient Sceptres powered by Quartz to reclaim the component parts.

QoL Fixes
Between the Mobile TLI Beta and the upcoming While Guthix Sleeps quest, we’ve been very busy – but we’ve still found time to squeeze in a pair of quality of life fixes this week.
Firstly, those of you hoping for a bit of peace and quiet when sneaking through the Hallowed Sepulchre will be happy to hear that you can now unlock the option to create instances! To do so, simply pay 200 Hallowed Marks to the friendly Mysterious Stranger at the door, who will then allow you to toggle instances on and off as often as you like.
In other skilling news, the Carpenters’ Clothing has been buffed! Budding Construction workers will enjoy a slight boost to XP rates when wearing individual items, with a +2.5% boost for the full set.
We also have the usual miscellaneous changes coming up later in the blog – but these are the highlights!
New Slayer Boss
Earlier this week a new 8-legged beast emerged from the cobwebs and we got our first look at Araxxor, a new Slayer boss for Old School!
This creepy character – who is absolutely not a spider, by the way – brings with him a host of rewards including new equipment, consumables, and a surprisingly cute pet. Read all about it on the blog! When you’re done absorbing knowledge, please do fill out this survey to let us know your thoughts.
We hope to launch the Araxxor poll on July 1st, once we’ve updated the original post to reflect new Crafting requirements and other key talking points. Whether you have two eyes or eight, you’ll want to keep ‘em peeled!
Deadman All-Stars Finale
The ultimate superstar showdown has been going strong since Friday, and we're getting closer and closer to the nail-biting finale! Which team will come out on top?
The Finale will be streamed live on our Twitch channel on Saturday, June 22nd at 18:00 BST, so be sure to show up and support your favourite squad! Remember, there’s an exciting twist - teams will choose an order to send their members out in and fight 1 vs. 1, with the previous bout's winner remaining in the ring to take on their next opponent with whatever supplies they have left over.
While you wait, you can catch up on the action so far on our YouTube playlist.

Other Changes
Previously, the Fishing Trawler divided the number of fish caught between the remaining players at the end of the encounter, so if multiple players left, remaining players received boosted loot and XP. In the interest of fairness, loot is now divided by the number of players present when the ship sets off. This means you might see a small dip in loot or XP from this minigame going forward.
In Bounty Hunter, there was previously an option that restricted the range of combat levels of your potential targets, requiring the target to be within 5, 10 or 15 of your own level. This option has been changed, so it now controls only the maximum level of your potential targets. You can therefore control whether your targets are up to 5, 10 or 15 levels higher than you, without your setting affecting the minimum level of your targets.
Additionally, the minimum level of Bounty Hunter targets is now always 15 below your own.

A new Beta begins on Thursday, June 13th, where you’ll get to experience all the improvements from the original and plenty of new features too! The Beta will be open for around three days, so you’ll have plenty of time to explore over the weekend.
For more insight into the enhanced features and customisability we’re offering this time around, check out last year’s Mobile UI Rework - Overview and Open Beta newspost.

Loadouts for hotkeys
Side-stones returning to the left (via an option, which is off by default)
NPC highlights and Edit Ground items hotkeys added

Pride 2024
We want to say a huge thank you to the players who joined our in-game Pride march last week! So many of you turned out in fabulous fashionscape to celebrate identity and individuality. Our J-Mods had so much fun leading you through the route across multiple worlds – and despite a couple of wizard incidents, most of us remembered where to go!
A big congratulations to the five players who snagged a Pride T-Shirt during the livestream giveaways. If you didn’t manage to get your hands on one, don’t worry – they’re still available in the Official Merch Store until July 3rd.
Don’t forget, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the shirts goes to charity! We’re partnering with AKT, a national charity that specialises in working with young LGBTQIA+ people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or living in hostile environments.
Donations will be based on all revenue received by the store from sales of the tees, minus shipping and credit card fees, cost of the garment and printing, and 5% to cover admin and fulfilment costs.
Deadman: All-Stars
In case you missed it, last week saw the announcement of Deadman: All-Stars, a week-long, invite-only, Deadman Mode special event featuring 30 superstar creators, conceived by the wonderful Solo Mission.

The Agility Arena Store agreed that selling Toadflax and Snapdragon unnoted was a little inconvenient, so these useful herbs will now come noted. Phew!

Combination Runes are now properly prioritised for use.

Pride Event 2024
Pride has returned to Old School RuneScape, bringing with it a heartwarming event to enjoy. These events are our way of supporting our LGBTQIA+ players and the wider community – so wear your colours with pride as you dive in to our latest event!
Your journey begins north of Falador, where you’ll find Kit Breaker and a frankly unworkable amount of luggage. Kit has big dreams of becoming a white knight, but they need your help to get there. This year, you’ll have four whole weeks to help him discover their true calling and embrace what makes him special.
Along with the fuzzy feelings of having helped someone in need, you’ll also be rewarded with a colourful new Cape and a snazzy Pride Crown Shirt. Like the other Pride rewards, you can customise them with the colours of several different Pride flags – and of course, they match the rewards from previous years!
If you missed out on any of the rewards from previous years, don’t panic! As with any Old School RuneScape event, you can claim your rainbow goodies from Diango in Draynor or from Gilbert west of Varrock.
In-Game March with J-Mods
We know that not everyone is able to attend Pride marches in person – but you can still celebrate here in Gielinor, by taking part in our official Old School Pride march!
Here's the deets:
Date: June 6th 2024 Time: 17:00 BST - 18:00 BST (Be sure to check out our event livestream, too! Details below.) Worlds:
500 - UK - Livestream
571 - AU
476 - USE
435 - USW
The march will set off from Gilbert’s flower patch near the bridge west of Varrock. To take part, rock up to the start point in your finest rainbow FashionScape and follow your J-Mod of choice! Make sure you have ‘walk’ enabled to allow everyone to keep pace.
Don’t forget the fancy chat command to turn your overhead speech rainbow colours! Just type ‘rainbow:’ before your message in the Chat Box.
Here’s the route map:
Maybe this is the year the J-Mods all remember to follow it!
Pride Livestream and T-Shirt Giveaway!

Project Rebalance Changes and Fixes
Last week we made a number of significant changes including the introduction of Elemental Weaknesses, split-up Ranged Defence types and a number of item-specific rebalances. All things considered, we're extremely happy with how the changes landed!
We still plan to pay careful attention to balancing over the coming months so we can see the full picture, rather than making knee-jerk changes while the system is still settling. However, we do have a handful of small fixes for bugs introduced in last week’s update.
We’ll rip the bandage off early – Flames of Zamorak no longer counts as a Fire spell. Unbeknownst to us, this error has been in the game for about seven years, and we simply overlooked it when it came to Project Rebalance. We’re open to readjusting this designation in future, but we’ll be taking a more measured approach.
Over to the Fortis Colosseum now, where the melee Fremennik warbander has been taking two hits to kill instead of one – a noticeable difficulty increase. To offset this, we’re reduced his HP from 50 to 48 so you can now one-shot him in peace.
The Elder Maul saw quite a resurgence last week, having displaced the Dragon Warhammer as the best-in-slot for Defence reduction. Sadly, this mighty weapon just didn’t stack up against the humble utility of the, er, regular Hammer. As of this week, you’ll be able to use the Elder Maul to ring the gong outside the Bandosian quarter of the God Wars Dungeon or to build and upgrade the chest in Chambers of Xeric. We’re not sure how you’ll manage that with a hammer whose handle is the size of your entire body, but we expect you’ll do it with extreme caution!
In our last change before the usual bunch of smaller fixes, Salarin the Twisted will now respect players’ Magic level. The inner workings of this NPC are a mystery even to us, but in short, he’ll now treat your Strike spells as Bolt spells, which means Wind Strike should now have the same Max Hit as your highest unlocked Bolt spell against this dastardly druid. Salarin has refused to apologise, which we suppose is our fault for making him so twisted in the first place.
Finally, some hotfixes and smaller changes:
Removed Water weakness from the revenant pyrefiend, since revenants aren’t supposed to inherit their pre-ghost weaknesses!
Added a 100% Fire weakness to Hespori.
Added Water weakness to superior wyrms and wyrmlings, to match their regular-sized counterparts.
Increased the Fire weakness of spiritual creatures in Nex’s prison from 100% to 200%.
HOTFIX: The Tome of Fire now calculates damage correctly during games of Last Man Standing.
HOTFIX: The Soulreaper Axe no longer periodically suffers from a lower Max Hit.
Deadman: All-Stars
A couple of weeks ago, we gave all of you a first look at 2024's Deadman: Armageddon. Since then, we've polled a number of main game cosmetic rewards and all of them will be making their way to the game on August 3rd!
Behind the scenes, snakey Solo Mission approached us with a pitch we couldn’t refuse, and it’s guaranteed to put you in the Deadman mood.
Deadman: All-Stars pits 30 of your favourite creators together in a 5v5v5v5v5v5 (that's six teams of five, in case you weren't counting) week-long battle to the death. Team captains Odablock, Solo Mission, Dino, Torvesta, B0aty and Faux will draft four players from a roster of PvP superstars, including A Cold One, Alfie, Coxie, DitterBitter, Donator, Eliop14, Gunschilli, Jcw, Mazhaw, Mika, MMORPG, Mr. Mammal, Muts, Pip, Port Khazard, Purpp, Raikesy, Rhys, Roidie, Sick Nerd, Skiddler, Skill Specs, V the Victim and Westham. From Friday, June 14th to Saturday, June 22nd, they’ll work to build up their gear and give their team the best odds in a first-of-its-kind Finale format.
The Finale will be streamed live on our Twitch channel on Saturday, June 22nd. The twist? Teams will choose an order to send their members out in and fight 1 vs. 1, with the previous bout's winner remaining in the ring to take on their next opponent with whatever supplies they have left over.
Deadman: All-stars is a one-of-a-kind event you won’t want to miss, but don’t take our word for it: check out the video below (or click here) to hear all about it from the Serpent King, Solo Mission himself!

Other Changes
As per usual, it's time to round off this week with some smaller changes!
The Inventory icon for the Gilded Spear now matches the Worn Items model.
The Collection Log entry for Scorpia now lists the Dragon 2-handed Sword, since she's able to drop them.
The animation for adding tips to Dragon Bolts no longer stalls your movement.
The resting soldier atop the Lizardman Canyon can now tell you your Lizardman killcount without you having to descend into the canyon.
Merch Updates
Last week we had a small section celebrating RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg being shortlisted for an award at the UK Games Expo. We just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who voted for us, because Shadow of Elvarg won the People’s Choice award for Best Boardgame (American Style)! We reckon we’ll celebrate with a session or two... but for now, let’s see the rest this week’s Merch Updates!

PvP World Rota
The PvP rota has moved to Period B:
560 - (UK) - PvP World
319 - (US) - Bounty Hunter World
579 - (US) - High-Risk PvP World
561 - (UK) - Free-to-Play PvP World
580 - (US) - LMS Competitive
World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been de-activated with this rota.
World 569 (AUS) for Bounty Hunter has been activated with this rota.
The PvP Arena is using '1 Def Pure' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week. You can also discuss this update on the 2007Scape subreddit, the Steam forums, or the community-led OSRS Discord in the #gameupdate channel. For more info on the above content, check out the official Old School Wiki.
Just like our last Project Rebalance update, today’s newspost covers a lot of ground and highlights some pretty big alterations to the status quo. With that in mind, we want to reiterate that we love Old School’s combat system exactly as it is. The aim of these changes is not to fundamentally change Combat, but to further improve the parts of the system which make it so satisfying to play. These changes open up new space for rewards that don’t contribute to bloat and powercreep, while leaning into the ‘right tool for the job’ element that makes getting gear upgrades feel like progress.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll no doubt find small tweaks we can make to ensure Combat is running smoothly. While we’ve run betas and worked with the community to make sure we’re on the right track, no amount of testing can compare to thousands of you getting stuck in and letting us know how these changes actually feel. If something doesn’t seem right, you can let us know, and we’ll do our best to sort it out – even if that means rolling changes back.
If this sounds a bit scary, don’t panic! Most of these changes won’t impact current gameplay at all, and simply pave the way for future activities, bosses and rewards. All your existing gear setups will still work just fine, although you may want to make one or two adjustments to squeeze a little extra power out of your equipment.
If that sounds exciting, keep reading to learn more!
NPC Defence Changes
This video guide will tell you all you need to know about the two primary components of this segment: Elemental Weaknesses and split Ranged Defence types. Have a watch – we’ll wait.

Time to put your popcorn down and learn more about Elemental Weaknesses!
Elemental Weaknesses
Elemental Weaknesses have always been present in a complex, roundabout way. Perhaps the most well-known example is the Ice Demon's weakness to Fire spells. These changes standardise the existing system, roll it out to more NPCs, and make it more readily accessible in-game via Monster Examine.
In short, for every point of Elemental Weakness an NPC has, spells of that element will gain +1% Accuracy and +1% Damage. For example, if you cast Fire Surge on an NPC who’s got a 50% Fire Weakness, you’ll gain 50% bonus Accuracy and Damage.
When you factor in your base Magic Damage, the formula looks like this:
Base Damage x (Magic Damage % + Elemental Weakness %)
This additive approach means elemental spells receive bigger buffs in middling setups, but don’t become overpowered in setups offering high Magic Damage boosts.
This gives the good ol’ Standard Spellbook more of a foothold in combat progression, fleshing out options for players throughout their Magic journey without displacing properly optimised setups.
A monster’s Elemental Weakness will be clearly visible in the ‘Other Attributes’ tab of Monster Examine. Alternatively, you can check out the OSRS Wiki or this handy spreadsheet with a granular and detailed list of changes.
For convenience, here’s a big list of the enemies impacted by this change:
Air Weakness
The Barrows Brothers (Ahrim, Dharok, Karil, Guthan, Torag, Verac)
Aviansies (including Kree'arra and his minions)
Ghosts
Skeletons
Water Weakness
Chromatic Dragons (Green, Blue, Red and Black dragons, including their 'Baby' and 'Brutal' variants)
This includes the King Black Dragon
Lava Dragons
A variety of demons, owing to their origins from a fiery, faraway land
Demonic Gorillas
Greater Demons
Hellhounds (including Cerberus)
K'ril Tsutsaroth and his minions
Lesser Demons
Pyrefiends
Fire Giants
Giant Mole
Drakes
Earth Weakness
The following NPCs have been given an Elemental Weakness to Earth spells:
Metal Dragons (Bronze, Iron, Steel, Mithril, Adamant and Rune)
Waterfiends
Wyrms
Fire Weakness
Giant Spiders
Near enough anything whose name begins with 'Ice', including:
Ice Trolls
Ice Demon
Ice Giants
Icefiends
Ice Warriors
Moss Giants
Mountain Trolls
Scarab Swarms
Scarab Mages
Vespula
Abyssal Portal
The Nightmare’s Totems
Keep in mind that these also take double damage from Magic attacks generally, so you can expect to see some very high hitsplats on these.
Kephri and her Arcane, Soldier and Spitting Scarabs
Zulrah
We’ve kept this list relatively tight so it doesn’t feel like every NPC in the game has changed overnight. While we’re not opposed to adding more NPCs to the list, we’re keen to let the dust settle and see how these changes impact the game before making further changes. Don’t worry – we won’t be drip-feeding them week by week, either. As much as we love writing the weekly newsposts, we know you don’t want to be constantly checking them for minor balancing changes!
Elemental Spell Scaling
Any wizard knows that Fire is stronger than Air – which rather throws a spanner in the works when it comes to making Elemental Weaknesses feel impactful.
For this reason, your max hit with elemental spells (Strike, Bolt, Blast, Wave, and Surge) will now scale to the highest level spell you have unlocked.
For example, a player with Level 5 Magic has a max hit of 4 for both Wind Strike and Water Strike, since Water Strike is the highest tier of spell they have unlocked. If that same player reaches the lofty heights of Level 13 Magic, then all their elemental Strike spells will have a max hit of 8, since the highest level spell they’ve unlocked is now Fire Strike.
Note that no spells hit higher than their tier’s max hit – if you have Level 99 Magic, your Fire Strike will still have a max hit of 8.
If you’re wondering how this affects the Tomes of Fire and Water, keep scrolling – we have more information about that later in the blog.
For now though, let’s take a look at the other side of the combat triangle...
Ranged Defence Types
Ranged Defence for NPCs is being split into three categories: Light, Standard, and Heavy. These are based on the type of ammunition used, as follows:
Heavy: Bolts, Javelins.
Standard: Arrows (this includes the Bow of Faerdhinen and Crystal Bow, magical arrows are still arrows...)
Light: Darts, Knives, other thrown weaponry like Thrownaxes or Toktz-xil-ul.
This change won’t mean significant shifts in gameplay today, but it lets us target NPCs towards a specific Ranged style in future, and make cool new rewards to match. Imagine an enchanted bow that fires Light arrows, or a Ballista that’s actually worth shooting at something with.
The overwhelming majority of existing NPCs, therefore, aren’t seeing any adjustments. For a detailed list of the changes we are making, check out this spreadsheet.
Alternatively, here’s a top-level summary of the NPCs affected:
Dragons have had their Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
This applies to metallic and chromatic dragons, including 'baby' and 'brutal' variants, as well as the King Black Dragon and Lava Dragons.
Commander Zilyana has had her Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
Corporeal Beast has had its Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
Gargoyles have had their Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
Lizardmen have had their Ranged - Light weakness reduced.
Nex has had her Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
Vasa Nistirio has had his Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
Vespula has had her Ranged - Light weakness reduced.
Vespula's Abyssal Portal has had its Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
Skeletal Mystics have had their Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
Basilisk Knights have haid their Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
Ba-Ba has had her Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
The Leviathan has had its Ranged - Heavy defence reduced.
Short term these changes mostly improve the standing of Crossbows in places where they’ve fallen behind the Bow of Faerdhinen or Twisted Bow. Again, the real benefit of these changes will be more flexibility when designing future updates – so keep your eyes peeled, and your arrows at the ready!
On top of the above set of changes, we've made a handful of minor adjustments to existing Melee defences on NPCs to better accentuate their weaknesses:
Dragons across the board (with the exception of Vorkath) have had their Stab defence reduced. This includes Drakes and Wyrms, who aren't dragons but are draconic.
Gargoyles have had their Crush defence reduced, and their Stab and Slash defences increased.
Lizardmen (including Brutes and Shamans) have had their Stab defence reduced. If you'd like to subject yourself to meleeing them, bring something pokey!
Vasa Nistirio has had his Crush defence reduced.
Skeletal Mystics have had their Crush defence reduced.
Basilisk Knights have had their Crush defence reduced.
Duke Sucellus has had his Slash defence reduced.
Item Rebalances
This section deals with changes to items in order to spread progression out and bring certain pieces of gear up to par. You can read all about our reasoning in this blog.
Magic Damage Redistribution
After a lot of back and forth, we're satisfied that this set of changes successfully spread out Magic progression and make gear upgrades feel more impactful.
Keep in mind that 'set pieces' for Robes means the Helmet, Body and Legs slot items. Now, here are the changes!
Occult Necklace: Magic damage reduced from 10% to 5%.
Ancestral Robes set pieces: Magic damage per piece increased from 2% to 3%.
Virtus Robes set pieces: Magic damage per piece increased from 1% to 2%.
The following items have had their Magic damage per piece increased from 0 to 1%:
Infinity Robes.
Dagon'hai Robes.
3rd Age Mage Armour.
Ahrim's Robes.
Blue Moon Armour.
Elder Chaos Druid Robes.
Bloodbark Armour.
Augury: Magic damage while active increased from 0 to 4%.
Note: Tumeken's Shadow doesn't multiply accuracy or damage bonuses gained from Prayers, so this would remain a 4% increase rather than 12% when using the Shadow.
Mystic Might: Magic damage while active increased from 0 to 2%.
Mystic Lore: Magic damage while active increased from 0 to 1%.
Eternal Boots: Magic damage increased from 0 to 1%.
Mage's Book: Magic damage increased from 0 to 2%.
Ancient Wyvern Shield: Magic damage increased from 0 to 2%.
Malediction Ward: Magic damage increased from 0 to 2%.
Arcane Spirit Shield: Magic damage increased from 0 to 3%.
Seers' Ring and Seers' Ring (i): Magic damage increased from 0 to 0.5%
Elite Void Mage Set bonus: Magic damage increased from 2.5% to 5%.
Other Item Adjustments
Magic gear isn't the only thing that's changing! Today’s update also includes the highly-anticipated Elder Maul buff and a few other gear improvements:
Various improvements to the Soulreaper Axe:
Stacks will no longer be lost instantly upon switching weapon.
Stacks will start decrementing after 20 ticks (12s) without attacking, up from 10 ticks (6s).
When stacks naturally degrade, they'll heal you for the damage you took while building those stacks up, so long as you still have the Axe in your inventory.
Added a Special Attack to the Elder Maul, which costs 50% of your Special Attack Energy.
Hits with +25% increased accuracy, and reduces target's Defence by 35% of its current value on a successful hit.
Most importantly: this looks really cool.
Inquisitor's Armour set pieces now provide +2.5% Accuracy and Damage when worn alongside an Inquisitor's Mace.
Adjusted the Ancient Godsword's Special Attack:
Healing from a successful Blood Sacrifice now heals for 15% of the target's maximum HP, up to a cap of 25 HP.
The Tomes of Fire and Water now boost their respective elements by 10% against NPCs, down from 50%. They still boost their damage by 50% and 20% respectively against players.
This change is intended to sit alongside Elemental Weaknesses so that the Tomes stand out as clear best-in-slot items in their niche, but the strength of the Standard Spellbook no longer relies entirely on these helpful books!
Miscellaneous Combat-Adjacent Changes
The Dragon Warhammer now drops at a rate of 1/3,000, up from 1/5,000.
'Minimum hit' has been adjusted. Now, if you pass an Accuracy check, any damage rolls of 0 are boosted up to 1. So, if your max hit is 3, you can roll 1, 1, 2 or 3 for damage.
Note that you're still able to guarantee 0s via splashing and failing every Accuracy check.
Added a 'Cursed Amulet of Magic' drop at a rate of 1/5 from the Necromancer south of Shayzien. This amulet provides -80% Magic Damage, useful for some niche scenarios where you might want to keep your damage numbers as low as possible!
Reduced the Prayer drain rate for Thick Skin, Burst of Strength and Clarity of Thoughts, Sharp Eye and Mystic Will from 5 to 1.67 points per minute. Effectively, they should drain at a third of the speed they used to.
Sharp Eye and Burst of Strength now boost your Ranged and Strength by 1 level respectively, if those levels are lower than 20.
Note that this only applies when calculating your max hit, so you won't notice a visible stat boost or anything to that effect.
Attacking an NPC with auto-cast enabled no longer incurs an extra 0.6s delay. This has been requested for absolutely ages, all that's left now is to figure out what you're going to do with all the extra time you'll have!
Adjusted The Path of Apmeken:
Increased Hitpoints of style-specific enemies inside the infamous 'monkey room', although they'll always take maximum damage from their opposing style. Note that each of these has a 'weak' and 'strong' variant, hence the two values for HP.
Baboon Brawler: 25 HP and 30 HP. Always max hit by Magic.
Baboon Thrower: 30 HP and 35 HP. Always max hit by Melee.
Baboon Mage: 20 HP and 25 HP. Always max hit by Ranged.
None of the enemies in the Path of Apmeken will scale with Raid Level or Group Size, so the Hitpoints values you see here should be consistent in every single Tombs of Amascut run. This also applies to NPCs not listed above like Volatile Baboons, Cursed Baboons and Baboon Shamans - though you won't be guaranteed max hits against these!
Improved Phosani's Nightmare’s drop rates:
Any specific piece of Inquisitor Armour now drops at a rate of 1/700, up from 1/1,000.
Any specific Orb now drops at a rate of 1/1,600, up from 1/3,000.
The Inquisitor's Mace now drops at a rate of 1/1,250, up from 1/2,000.
The Nightmare Staff now drops at a rate of 1/533, up from 1/666.7.
Improved the Nightmare’s drop rates, too! Note that drop rates at the Nightmare scale and that the values here only reflect the 'base' rate. For more info, see here.
Any specific piece of Inquisitor Armour now drops at a rate of 1/420, up from 1/600.
Any specific Orb now drops at a rate of 1/960, up from 1/1,800.
The Inquisitor's Mace now drops at a rate of 1/750, up from 1/1,250.
The Nightmare Staff now drops at a rate of 1/300, up from 1/400.
Ava's devices will now apply their ammo-saving effects to Javelins, as they do for other ammo types.
That’s all from Project Rebalance for now, but if you’d like more details about any of the changes we’ve discussed today, be sure to read through the blogs linked above.
Do remember that we’re open to making further changes based on your feedback – so be sure to share your thoughts on all things Project Rebalance and let us know what you think of today’s changes!
Other Changes
For dessert, a short but sweet selection of miscellaneous changes:
Spell Tablet Lecterns in Player-Owned Houses now remember the position of their scrollbar when closed and reopened.
The Genie random event has stopped referring to everyone as "Master", and will use "Mistress" when appropriate.
The Varlamorian Master and Elite emote clue S.T.A.S.H. units now properly appear filled on the S.T.A.S.H. noticeboard.
The Blood Moon's Jaguar 'HP sap' no longer persists through teleports. This one can't technically kill you, but a pretty harrowing HCIM scare convinced us it was worth fixing…

Project Rebalance: Skilling Tweaks
It’s been a couple of weeks since the first part of Project Rebalance went live, and we’re happy with where most of the changes are at. Even so, we have a few more tweaks for you this week.
First, an update on Expert Mining Gloves, which have been re-enabled for Sandstone with some minor balancing changes. Initially, players were able to mine a whopping three extra Sandstone before the rock depleted, which was a little stronger than we intended. As of today’s change, they’ll be able to mine one extra.
Sticking with the Mining theme, we also hotfixed a couple of Zalcano changes. To deter leeching, all players must now deal at least 5 armour damage to Zalcano, regardless of how much health damage they deal over the course of the fight. Additionally, the minimum contribution required has increased to 75, up from 50.
A third hotfix applies a delay when re-entering the Brimhaven Agility Dungeon after teleporting out. This prevents players using the Achievement Diary Cape to repeatedly teleport out, re-enter and tag a pillar close to the entry ladder, resulting in unexpectedly high XP rates.
Last week, we reduced fail rates when pickpocketing paladins, gnomes and heroes – but many of you still feel they don’t hit the mark. This week we’re improving their fail rate even more, and re-upping XP per pickpocket. Note that XP per hour for these NPCs does scale drastically with your Thieving level. Paladins, for example, ramp up from ~90,000 XP per hour at Level 70 to ~180,000 XP per hour at Level 99.
Along similar lines, we’re walking back a change we made to fever spiders loot table last week which turned them into powerful, risk-free AFK moneymakers. That’s another kind of spider altogether, so we’ve taken things down a notch by replacing the Rune Medium Helm and Battleaxe with their Adamant equivalents and swapping Water Battlestaves for Limpwurt Roots. We remain open to further changes following your feedback.
To round us off, we have two tiny tweaks:
Corrected messaging that plays when the Ore Sack at Motherlode Mine is full.
Efaritay’s Aid now correctly interacts with tier 1 and 2 vampyres, instead of reducing damage dealt to them.
Minigame Improvements
Today’s update also brings a selection of QoL changes to minigames all over Gielinor:
Various skilling actions in Trouble Brewing now provide XP for the associated skill:
Capturing a Monkey awards 15 Agility and 15 Hunter XP.
Increasing the Boiler pressure awards 80 Strength XP.
Lighting logs in the Boiler now awards 320 Firemaking XP, up from the 40 XP provided when adding logs to the Boiler.
Obtaining a Bitternut awards 160 Hunter XP.
Depositing a Bitternut into the Hopper awards 640 Cooking XP.
Obtaining Scrapey Tree Bark from logs awards 160 Fletching XP.
Depositing Scrapey Tree Bark into the Hopper awards 320 Cooking XP.
Obtaining Sweetgrubs awards 160 Hunter XP.
Depositing Sweetgrubs into the Hopper awards 320 Cooking XP.
Adding your team's coloured water to the Hopper awards 320 Cooking XP.
Figuring out how any of this results in ‘Rum’ earns you the gratitude of the entire Community Management team.
The reward currency from Trouble Brewing, Pieces of Eight, have been converted into a variable stored on your account rather than a physical item. This brings them in line with other Minigame currencies.
Added a new 'Classic F2P' option to the 'Magic' dropdown while setting up a Clan Wars game. This setting makes it so that Bind is the only 'freeze' spell available in a game with this setting enabled.
Fully-grown plants in Tithe Farm will no longer decay.
Tears of Guthix will now show your Personal Best while you're collecting tears.
The Guardians of the Rift entry barrier has received some visual updates. It should be even more red when you're unable to enter the minigame, and we've added a new 'Red, Eye Open' variant for scenarios where the player count has reached 200 but the game has not yet started.
It's worth noting that our next QoL Poll will see us focus on more significant changes to some minigames/activities, including Wintertodt and Guardians of the Rift.
Other Changes
Just like all good updates, we've got a scattering of smaller updates spread throughout a variety of content that's not easy to group up with everything else.
Up first is a change to the Grand Exchange interface, allowing you to set up your own +X% and -X% buttons when buying or selling - for the trader in a serious rush.
You can use these buttons to enter in any custom amount you'd like to strike the perfect balance between 'less spam clicking on the 5% button' and 'paying millions of GP for one niche Quest item'! Right-clicking on the button lets you customise this value at any time.
Next is a change to the Theatre of Blood, specifically to how Verzik scales to one remaining player in Normal mode Theatre of Blood. These changes were initially floated to you alongside Project Rebalance, but have been worked on by a different team - hence their slightly earlier release!
If only one player remains during Normal Mode Verzik's P2, only one Nylocas Matomenos (the red one) will spawn, as in Hard Mode.
If only one player remains during Normal Mode Verzik's P2, the Lightning Ball damage is capped, as in Hard Mode.
To round us off, here's a list of other tweaks - we're sure your favourite part of today's update is likely to be somewhere in here, as is tradition...
A warning message has been added to prevent players from accidentally choosing to 'Release' a Mature Tecu Salamander.
The Troll tunnels leading up to Trollweiss, encountered during the Troll Romance quest, have been restored to Single-way combat. This is to correct an error in a recent update where they'd accidentally been made Multi-combat.
The Staff of the Dead's Special Attack effect is now cleared when using a Rejuvenation Pool inside your POH.
A new option has been added to the Settings menu that allows you to pick your 'hit sounds'. This is the sound that your character makes when they're hit by an enemy.
Elven Teleport Crystals now have a 'Toggle' option when right-clicked, which will allow you to set your left-click teleport to either Lletya or Prifddinas.
Wyrms have had their animations adjusted to make them more accessible for players who are at risk of seizures.
Fixed a bug where it was possible to skip Vet'ion's second phase.
This Week in Old School
Before we sign off, we’re trying out a new newspost feature where we summarise a selection of cool goings-on from the previous week.
Yesterday, we posted a first look at Deadman: Armageddon, the thrilling sequel to last year’s Deadman: Apocalypse. We’ve made a few gameplay changes which you can read all about in this blog. Deadman: Armageddon runs from July 19th to August 3rd, so get your holiday requests in ASAP – or you might be met with the same result we got in this video.
In other Deadman news, don’t forget to vote for Armageddon-themed tradeable cosmetic kits in next week’s in-game poll! Should they pass, you’ll be able to spend your hard-earned Deadman Points on some seriously cool Corrupted Weapon kits – or pick them up at the Grand Exchange, if that’s more your bag.
If you're looking for something to watch during your latest grind, check out this epic piece of investigative journalism, in which star reporter J1mmy delves deep into Neypotzli to document a man driven to madness by the Moons of Peril (spoiler alert, the man is talented community artist 8sat). That's two Golden Gnome winners working hand-in-hand - it doesn't get much better than that!

Project Rebalance: Skilling
We’re back with further Project Rebalance changes this week, starting with our favourite skill – Slayer!
Slayer
Players no longer need to cancel their current Slayer Task to take on one they’ve left in storage. Instead, we’ve implemented a system that lets you swap existing Tasks with stored ones!
Note that the ability to swap tasks is locked behind a one-off fee of 1,000 Slayer Points, although it will be free from then on.
Thieving
We’ve improved the drop rates of Medium, Hard and Elite Clue Scrolls from gnomes, paladins and heroes! We’ve also reduced the pickpocketing fail rate for these NPCs, so you’ll have an easier time stealing from them overall.
Agility
You can now convert Agility Arena Tickets into newer, shinier Brimhaven Vouchers, which you can exchange in Pirate Jackie the Fruit’s new shop. To do so, use the old Agility Arena Tickets directly on Jackie, who will then give you the option to convert them. Note that this doesn’t remove the ability to use Brimhaven Graceful on her to revert it back to regular Graceful!
The Agility Arena also now has aworld-hop check in place. If you tag a pillar, then hop to a different world and try to tag a pillar again too quickly, you'll be locked out of interacting with pillars for about 60 seconds.
Additionally, tagging Ticket Dispensers now yields the correct amount of XP, based on your Agility level. This was something we hotfixed last week, but we thought we’d mention it here for anyone who missed it!
We've also removed fail points from the following Agility obstacles:
Canifis Rooftop Course last gap jump
Ape Atoll stepping stone and climbing down tropical tree
Lastly, we've altered the fence next to the Taverley tree patch to allow easier access to the new shortcut. We've also fixed an issue where the Shilo Village shortcut wasn't correctly checking for the right quest requirements - oops!
Mining
Since last week’s update we’ve noticed that players are achieving excessively large amounts of XP when Mining Sandstone and Granite with the Mining Gloves. For now, we’ve simply prevented Mining Gloves from working in this circumstance, but we’re actively discussing how best to balance this interaction in future. We’ll let you know if we decide to make further changes, but in the meanwhile, we’ll be glad to hear your feedback on this point!
In other Mining news, a sound now plays when Amethyst Crystals fully deplete, and we’ve added a warning when trying to mine ore in Motherlode Mine when your Sack is full.
Varlamore
This week brings one last round of improvements to Hunters’ Rumours! We’ve looked to address the main feedback regarding the creatures on the Task Lists, removing the most-blocked Rumours from Adept and Expert tiers. This will cut down on the amount of slower tracking and deadfall Rumours and make blocked Rumours more personalised rather than simply clearing them out of the pool.
We've also added some higher-level tasks to the Adept and Expert lists, meaning that as players progress, they will unlock additional, preferable Tasks. Notable additions are Red Chinchompas to both Adept lists, and Herbiboar to Teco's list.
This will mean one last rejig of your blocklists in some cases, but that’s a small price to pay to not have to block more Rumours!
Happy Hunting!
Ornus
Removed: Barb-tailed and Prickly Kebbits
Added: Red Salamanders and Red Chinchompas
Cervus
Removed: Barb-tailed and Prickly Kebbits
Added: Sunlight Moths and Red Chinchompas
Aco
Removed: Razorback Kebbits and Pyre Foxes
Added: Tecu Salamanders and Moonlight Moths
Teco
Removed: Razorback Kebbits and Orange Salamanders
Added: Herbiboar and Sunlight Moths
Wolf
Removed: Sunlight Moths
These changes will not affect active tasks.
Smaller fixes include:
The bonus effect descriptions of the Kyatt and Guild Hunter outfits are now listed in the Set Bonus tab while wearing at least one piece of either outfit.
Prevented certain tiles in the Fortis Colosseum from blocking players who tried to walk on them.
Updated the Easy Hunter Guild Clue to direct players to the food barrel on top of the Guild, as it has no level requirement to access.
Fixed various graphical and sound-related bugs.
Fixed a bug where the "Nothing interesting happens" text pops up when trying to fill Fur and Meat Pouches manually.
