Patch #16

Hello lovely Oligopolists,

I overhauled the whole balancing of the game. Some people found it hard to make enough money at the beginning of a mission to keep on playing, this is now drastically improved.

Small cities do now buy more products relative to bigger cities (e.g. sales figures do not anymore raise linearly with the size of the city). Also, natural resources now have higher margins and maintenance costs are slightly lowered.

HUGE EA patch #15: translations (French, Italian, Spanish) + weather system + many improvements and fixes

Hello lovely Oligopolists,

I am happy to announce that Oligopoly has been translated into French, Spanish and Italian. This patch also brings many improvements and a new beautiful looking weather system, have a look here:

Many things have been overhauled, like transportation routes visualization for example:



Moreover, this patch brings approximately 20 improvements and bug fixes, see the following list for details:

Additions



  • added translations: French, Italian, Spanish
  • added weather system where it sometimes starts to rain
  • added weather system settings, available options are: mixed, always sunny, always rainy
  • charts fully implemented (chart datas are now saved and loaded as well)
  • added transportation costs (your transportation routes now cost money)
  • added transportation costs to the charts
  • added pavement to standard road



Improvements



  • changed road construction animation
  • prevent building windows from being partially out of screen when opening them
  • store window slightly overhauled
  • natural resources availability tooltip window redesigned
  • natural resources availability is now always 100% or 0% (and no values in between) to keep things simple
  • added emission to the tutorial arrow
  • improved transportation route visualization
  • natural resources availability visualization remade from scratch
  • standard road texture replaced
  • electronics shop resized
  • some tutorial texts improved
  • various adjustments for different graphics settings (higher performance for low settings and higher quality for high settings)
  • unity engine upgraded to the latest version



Bug fixes



  • fixed a bug where stores had to be clicked twice to open it's window
  • fixed a bug where the connected buildings visualization stayed active after constructing a building even if the mouse is not hovering it anymore
  • fixed text overflow in store windows
  • fixed a bug where after loading a save file the UI showed wrong balance for the first couple of days
  • fixed a bug where vehicles did accelerate/decelerate too quickly
  • fixed distorted road lines at intersections

EA PERFORMANCE patch #14 release

Hello lovely Oligopolists,

I am happy to announce another huge performance boost. The calculation time when a new road is built is about 10 times faster! Also, before, when playing for more than an hour, the FPS started to drop. This is now fixed as well.

This fixes lead to a very noticeable, much smoother overall gaming experience. Enjoy!

EA PERFORMANCE patch #13 release

Hello lovely Oligopolists,

I am happy to announce a huge performance update. This patch brings a noticeable overall boost in performance and especially at later stages of the game, when cities become much larger.

I also tweaked various other things. For example the camera is much smoother when it tracks a vehicle. Also, I switched from forward to deferred rendering, which improves some graphics like trees for example.

BIG EA patch #12 release

Hello lovely Oligopolists,

I am happy to announce the biggest update since EA launch. This patch brings a new category of buildings, a new map, a new campaign and new missions.

As requested by the community, the new map contains much more landmass than the previous maps. So you have plenty of space to build. Have a look here:



The patch also brings a new category of unique, expensive buildings, such as a company headquarter and a marketing agency. This buildings can only be built once and bring bonuses. Have a look here:

EA patch #9 release

Hello lovely Oligopolists,

I've created a new patch which will be released in the next minutes. As requested by the community, this patch adds charts to the game. Please keep in mind that this feature is in an alpha state. It works, but the data will not be saved.

Also, I have overhauled the visualization of connected buildings. You can now simply hover your mouse over one of your buildings to see to which other buildings it's connected. You can also hover your mouse over a store to see which city buildings are supplied by the store.
