Dev-blog#4: Islands and bioms

Arr, pirates!
You've already gathered your pirate crew, so now it's high time you picked a starting point of your journey on the map. In Treasure Royale, every team is free to choose the most tempting ocean area to spawn on, whether it's close to islands and loot, has clear passage across the archipelago or tends to be the most crowded with pirates place on the known map. Now, the real adventure begins!

How about the Skull Island with an abandoned town and dungeons hidden in caves? You'll find the rocky shore and tons of buildings hiding their secrets. Who knows, maybe you would even sail into one or another cave? That island might be explored both on the surface and underneath - make sure to check out its pirate hideouts.

If you like to river cruise and try your luck with recently abandoned settlements, Canyon Islands is your way to go. You might explore variety of villages and overgrown meadows in your search for precious loot.

Tropical part of the map on the other hand, feels like an exotic paradise, where you could enjoy a bottle or two as a classical pirate would do, but as much as it is a great hideout, you never know who awaits in a bush.

Once that used to be a real melting pot of cultures, now it's known of ancient ruins of the Lost City hidden in the jungle. Maybe from the top of a steep mountain you would spot some pyramids, temples of lost civilizations...or at least some bamboo houses all of which might be worth checking out.

Desert climate might not be extremely welcoming nowadays, but in the past the old mines were really prosperous, maybe some gold was forgotten there? You might try your luck in the Kraken hunter villages, dark caves or open pit mine of the Gold Rush Islands.

And what if you're not that lucky, get a headshot and end up on the Island of the Damned? Better still try to escape such a limbo full of corpses of those that did not avoid the torture tools and machines. The way to do it will be explained in the upcoming gameplay dev-blog!

Dev-blog #3: Weaponry

Hi guys, besides the standard character customization and new pieces of fancy pirate coats to unlock in the main menu, the archipelago provides players with diverse weapons, upgrades, medkits and 3 levels of armor to find.
In this post we will showcase the main firearms.

Projectile Ballistics
All of the weapons in Treasure Royale, including stationary cannons, use Projectile Ballistics system over the outdated Hitscan. That means we create a new bullet in the environment every time a pirate pulls a trigger. These bullets have their own mass, velocity, hitboxes and are subject to the overall in-game physics. In other words, players will need to take into account several traits of a weapon and distance to a target before taking a shot.

Weapon Characteristics
We've also already implemented a fully adjustable weapon behavior for every gun in the game. What it means it that you may expect various kinds of sway moves when aiming, recoils when firing or reloading times. All the weapon attachments will have an impact on them so that it's necessary to keep searching even when you found a golden chest with best gear.

Gameplay vs Reality
As you may have noticed by now, spyglasses mounted on revolver rifles are not the most typical weapons of the previous centuries. That's what we wanted to experiment with when trying to meet a good gameplay with historical accuracy halfway. If that works out well for the majority of players, we will be eager to add additional equipment such as smoke bombs, multi-bullet magazines or incendiary ammunition.

Thanks for reaching the end of this post and don't forget to check out the next one in the upcoming week - we will share our different approach to a typical Battle Royale gameplay and let you know how to win a round even after being eliminated!:)
