Dev-blog #2: Ship manual

Hi guys, we are back with new blog posts to clearly describe what Treasure Royale is about after almost 2 years of development. Today we want to summarize all the features and mechanics of pirate ships!

1. Customize
Every crew starts their journey on a pirate ship equipped to destroy other ships and, in the meantime, cross oceans as fast as possible. First things first, the crew captain is given an opportunity to choose a ship skin, sails colors and one of the unlocked banners.

Future updates are supposed to bring also additional sail stamps just to let everyone know how experienced is the crew that operates this particular ship.

2. Navigate and sail
Steering wheel comes along with a hovering camera for better sailing technique through narrow passes. Sailor also needs to take into account variation of the wind, angle of turning and the number of undamaged sails when engaging a pursuit of enemy or treasures. There's also a short boost bar under Shift key available which can come in handy in certain situations.

3. Onboard duties
There are several things to do onboard to stay in game and win against other pirates. Checking horizon through windows and doors or using repairing bench to fix holes are some of them. And the most important:

4. Destroy
When the above mentioned activities succeed, the other ship will most likely sink just after losing speed because of the lack of sails. If it survives, the crew will have to use a repairing bench to fix the holes, but severely damaged parts won't be able to recover their full hitpoints. Sails and masts on the other hand, as more difficult to fix and cannot be replaced while sailing. We are working on an idea to let players fix them in docks, but the upcoming tests will prove if it's good for the gameplay.

5. Summon
When your ship gets destroyed or your crew just left you behind, the old pirate ritual will be there to put you back in action. By the cost of permanent loss of 25% HP, everyone can ask a friendly kraken to fetch them a new vessel.

Many thanks for sticking with us and reaching the end of this post! In the next one, we will show a bit more about inventory, weaponry and weapon attachments to be found on the islands. The next announcement is scheduled in 5 days.

Dev-blog #1: Naval battles

Hi guys,
we are starting this blog to make you more familiar with the way OoR: Treasure Royale develops. In each announcement we will describe one feature that we currently work on and ask about your opinion.

This time, as it's the first episode, we've prepared a short trailer to showcase how the game looks in its Alpha 0.03 state.

All of the mayor features are already online, including sailing, various kinds of weapon, destruction model for vessels and buildings as well as client-server part of the game. Till the end of the month, we're gonna focus further on shooting and looting so that we can come back with the full description of weapon kinds, stats and variables in the next dev-blog.

At the same time, the 3D part of the team works on locations design to make sure that everyone finds a perfect spot to loot, fight and prepare for the treasure hunt!
