The "Outcore hates Microsoft" Update
I ran the numbers and I am now certain: I was Hitler in my previous life
Or at the very least my previous incarnation committed tax evasion and scammed some grannies in a mall.
Why am I certain of that? Because there is simply no other explanation for the sin I committed that cursed me to forever fix Outcore bugs in this life.
Good people have a guardian angel. I, on the other hand, have Jim
Jim is the Microsoft employee designated to ruin every day of my life. Every day I wake up and find a new game-breaking bug report from someone who can't finish the game because of how Windows works or an update it received. It's like that comic where Thanos visits a child every year to ruin his birthday, except it happens every day.
SPOILERS BELOW Today's episode focuses on K-Lev's sonar mini-game, just like last time.
If you finished the game then you know that Lumi runs away and you need to use K-Lev's sonar to find her. Her location is C:/Windows/System32, but apparently Jim thought it was time for some computers to not have this folder which existed in every computer up until now. Thanks, Jim.
We're not done
Jim is a productive employee and made sure to sneak in another terror attack against the sonar mini-game before he checked out for the day.
If you read my previous post about Microsoft then you know there was an issue with the sonar breaking due to Microsoft adding a localized "- File explorer" to the folder name that was displayed in file explorer.
Apparently, there's another case where they change the name. For most computers when you're inside the Windows folder it should appear as "Windows", but for some, it appears as "C:/Windows". My new code can actually handle that case, but somewhere down the line there's another piece of code that couldn't.
Sure, I could blame myself for writing code that wasn't versatile enough to handle every imaginable case ever, but how was I supposed to know there were so many cases to begin with? I'll just blame Jim because I prefer to dump responsibility on a made-up demonic Microsoft employee.
Anyway, some of you are code nerds so here's the fix
Till next time
The "Microsoft hates Outcore" Update
The time is 9 PM, somewhere in Nevada...
Microsoft's top executives gather for their weekly meeting where they discuss how to ruin my day
Executive 1: Welcome to the weekly meeting of The Great Evil Villainous League Of Evil Villains Microsoft. Executive 1: Today we gather here to discuss a grave matter. Executive 2: No....... You don't mean....... Executive 3: Everything but that............... Executive 1: That's right. It's been over a week since Doctor Shinobi had to work on Outcore even though it's been almost 2 years since the game came out!
*All the executives rumble in panic*
Executive 1: Now, my fellow companions of capitalism, we must quickly devise a plan otherwise Doctor Shinobi will be able to work on new games. Executive 2: Yes.... Executive 3: A plan... Executive 4: An evil plan...
Executive 2: Let's make French names unreadable for Outcore! Executive 1: NO. We already did it. Executive 3: We're rich. Let's use our lawyers to threaten Doctor Shinobi into working on the game, otherwise, we'll sue him! Executive 17: IMBECILE! Lawyers cost money! We want to stay rich. We need to think about something else...
The poor underpaid intern who makes coffee for the executives: What if we add "File Explorer" to the title of every open folder? Everyone: .... Executive 51: What??? The poor underpaid intern who makes coffee for the executives: I mean Outcore breaks every time we change anything in a Windows update. The developer probably checks if a window is open by looking for its exact name. Surely, something will break If we add a "File Explorer" to the name of every folder and also translate it into a different word when a non-English copy of Windows is installed Everyone: ?????.........................??.................. GENIUS!
Patch notes
- Fixed a bug where K-Lev's sonar would break near the end of the game on non-English copies of Windows. Thanks, Microsoft.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm not actually mad at Microsoft. There is no way they could know such a minor UI change would break Outcore, nor should they care since it affects very few programs (like Outcore and... maybe viruses)
The Toilet Update
- Fixed the toilet's lab key not appearing for people who can only speak English
Egg
Egg
The Dockronic birthday update
This update is dedicated to Dockronic.
Who is Dockronic? I don't know, but they mentioned their birthday in the last patch notes
Happy birthday. Don't forget to brush your teeth at least twice every day.
Changes:
After getting all 4 keys and finding the Mastermind's door password, Laifu will remind the player to go to the lab only if they completed the game at least once (and reset without deleting their save file)
August 23rd update
Black screen fix for people who install Outcore somewhere other than the default steam installation path
Another sonar mini-game fix for Turkish people
Fixed an edge case where Hexamilian would repeat a dialogue in the lab
Drank water today. It's very important to drink at least 80 liters of water every day.
Fixed Hexamilian & Octhouzend being available to give you the lab quest after you finish the lab
Laifu will no longer remind players to do the lab quest. The reason is that I don't want first-time players to accidentally enter the lab, which is intended for experienced players. Players who listen closely to Octhouzend and Hexamilian's instructions should still know how to enter the lab.
Fixed weird sound whenever a period appears in a dialogue sentence.
Characters should sound a bit better when talking.
August 17th emergency update
Fixed the camera breaking after leaving the classroom in the 3rd memory
Fixed the mastermind's door text showing broken translations
