Release 1.6 is here - First base modules built locally

Release 1.6 of Outer Space Shack is now live, bringing major new features to the game! You can now collect scrap metal from leftover landers and asteroids, clearing your landing area of old lander lower stages in the process. This scrap can be repurposed to craft crude parts through a sintering process, allowing you to build station modules. Made from rough metal reminiscent of 19th-century metallurgy, these modules are three times heavier than Earth-manufactured ones to withstand pressure as robust vessels. Best of all, they come equipped to produce food.

Release 1.6 also introduces the ability to dismantle and relocate appliances, giving you more flexibility in your base. Plus, quality-of-life upgrades include a new game speed option at x160!

Game has a new play speed

As requested, a new game speed has just been added to the game. There is now the possibility to accelerate time 160x, an intermediate between the x40 and x400 speeds already present in the game.

This new speed should be the most approriate when supervizing the active phase of missions on the planets.

This new features will be available with Release 1.5 expected in the next weeks.

R1.6: Recycling Workshops & More - coming later this year

Development of Release 1.6 is advancing, focusing on local metallurgy. This video highlights our new recycling workshop, equipped with a laser cutting machine powered by massive condensers and a metal scrap compactor.

Local metallurgy facilitates the recycling of lander disposable stages, helping to declutter your base and enabling the construction of modules for hydroponics cultivation using rugged recycled metal.

Additionally, asteroid mining will be introduced as a significant source of metal, further expanding your base-building capabilities.

First Look at Locally Manufactured Space Base Module in Release 1.6

Release 1.6, currently in development, revolutionizes in-situ manufacturing by utilizing recycled materials from disposable lander modules and metallic asteroids. These materials are smelted, machined, and assembled using basic tools to create functional devices.

Given the limitations of crude metallurgy, the resulting parts won't match modern aerospace standards. Instead, they'll evoke 19th-century metalwork with large rivets and irregular surfaces.

Despite these aesthetic differences, the new in-situ manufactured space base module in Release 1.6 offers a reliable level of security, being five times heavier than those manufactured on Earth. This module is designed to support hydroponics plantations, and plans for a locally-made solar panel support are also underway.
