Hotfix v2.01 is live!

Hi everyone!

We have made a hotfix solving the armor bug that has been reported on the forums. Sadly, you won't recover your old armor, but you won't loose anymore.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Overkill VR Update 2.0 is online now

Hey Resistance, good to see you.

Today we have some hot news. We know that you have been waiting for more content and it is worth waiting for! Reviewing all your comments on the Community forums, we have tried to satisfy everyone’s expectations as much as possible.

A few things might have been left along the way, but don't worry, there are more updates coming and we estimate that we’ll have the Early Access completely finished in a few months. For now, we request some more patience while we develop exciting and essential new features.

Focusing on the 2.0 update, here is the list of the features added to the game:

  • Support items: different support items added which help the player to progress in his quest. Some examples of these support items are: air strikes, rocket launchers, fragmentation grenades, flashbang grenades, healing packs…
  • 2 new locations are added to the game, Quarry and Factory, which contain 3 and 6 levels respectively.
  • We have made changes to the game, in order to make Oculus Touch fully compatible with Overkill VR. Going forward, all the future content will be supported by both platforms.
  • Manual reloading added: based on the community's feedback, weapons are now reloaded more realistically by inserting magazines with your left hand into each weapon's magazine slot.
  • New Weapons: A few weapons added to the previous existing set:

  • PISTOLS:
    --UZI
  • SMG:
    --P90
  • ASSAULT RIFLES:
    --PG39
    --M4A1
    --SCAR-H
  • SPECIAL WEAPONS:
    --ROCKET LAUNCHER
    --BARRETT 98B

You can check all these features in our new brand video of Overkill VR update 2.0:

Mixed reality hotfix

Hi everyone!

We just released a hot fix for the latest patch. It turns that Mixed reality support was not turning on when a 3rd controller and the externalcamera.cfg file were detected.

It is now fixed and we hope to see a lot of Mixed Reality videos of Overkill VR soon :)

Happy shooting!

Version 1.04 is live!

Hi everyone!

We have just uploaded another version of Overkill VR right now, based on our community feedback, with the following fixes and improvements:

  • Mixed reality videos are now possible by adding an external camera config file close to the game exe's file. Feel free to make cool videos!
  • Oculus touch is now officially supported. Warmap can be scrolled with the right analog correctly now.
  • Increased difficulty for some East Slums levels. You will be flanked more frequently, so be careful!
  • Increased fire rate for MK23 pistol a bit.
  • Fixed MK23's reflex not working
  • Fixed a weird case where you could get stuck after a loading screen
  • Fixed a bug where main menu was not being shown after going back from a mission.
  • Improved first cover on East Slums 5, as it was a bit too high

Feel free to share your ideas and suggestions in the forums, and thanks for helping us improve the game every day.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Sights in Overkill VR

Hi everyone!

In this post, we will talk about holographic sights and how the game implements them.

The conventional way of aiming a weapon is through its iron sights. The trajectory between the front sight and the back sight is parallel to the cannon’s.

To properly aim through iron sights, law-enforcement and military units are trained so the body position of the shooter is correct and the target, the line of sight and the front and back sights are correctly aligned. Any movement while aiming will affect the alignment between these, drastically decreasing the shooter’s accuracy.

Reflex sights (also called holographic sights or reflective sights) have the objective of reducing the complexity of aligning with the weapon while aiming, greatly improving the shooter’s accuracy, especially while they are moving.

To do so, the reflex sights use a lens to reflect a reticle (a crosshair, circle, dot…) into the shooter’s retina, which shows the trajectory of the cannon at a given distance. This means that aligning the front and the back of the weapon is no longer necessary to aim properly, and, if you can see the reticle, you are aiming properly.

Contrary to iron sights, reflex sights can be used with both eyes open.

Reflex sights are normally mounted higher than iron sights in weapons, which means that it is not necessary to align the reflex with the iron sights in any way, since they both have different parallel trajectories to the cannon’s.

In Overkill VR, red dot and reflex sights show this trajectory by drawing the reticle in the game world at approximately 25m, however, it is only visible through the sight lens. We don’t use optics to fake the reticle in midair like the real ones do, instead, we just put it there!

Let us know in the comments or discussion forums how holographic sights feel in Overkill VR.

Happy shooting!

Version 1.03 is live!

We have just updated the Overkill VR to version 1.03 with following changes:

- Bug fixes for tutorial. Some of you have reported issues with 2-handed control and with the armor menu tutorial.
- Adjusted difficulty for East Slums 1 & 2. They were too casual, they will now require you to use cover a bit more.
- Increased cover height for East Slums 3. This will allow you to play more comfortably.
- Minor improvements on weapon shading. Glow on iron sights is more noticeable. Helps aiming without scope upgrades.

Feel free to report bugs or any feature request on the discussion forums.

Early access

Hi everyone!
we're writing to let you know that the game has incorrectly released as a complete title instead of releasing as an early access.

This has been a mistake on our end and we want you all to know that the final version of the game will have almost 40 weapons, more than 60 levels and new game modes as survival.
The current version is just the first of several updates that will come in the near future.

We'll be releasing an update with bugfixes pretty soon. A big thanks to all the users that reported bugs & glitches.

We're actually listening at the community's feedback and taking it into consideration, so far the most asked feature is manual reloading.
We'll let you know about more on the following days.

See you on the battlefield soldiers!
