The Boguin cannon mini-game now has a new objective! For anyone who wants more of a challenge when they've collected all the rings, you can now compete with other players to get the best times. Compete with either your friends or try to get a spot on the global leaderboard!
The leaderboards can be found in the Boguin Cannon area.
There are 3 boards.
Global Best - displays very top times, located on the left side of the cannon.
Your Rank - displays your rank on the leaderboard, located on the right of side the cannon.
Friends Rank - shows your rank compared to your Steam friends, located on the wall above the cannon.
Quick Retry
You can quickly retry your run by double tapping Q or E (RB or LB on controller). You can also skip the launch sequence of the cannon by tapping any button. This should get you up and soaring in no time!
Other changes:
Improved controls slightly in the final dungeon.
Fixed a speed-runner route that was accidentally broken in the previous version.
Support for more encodings and line endings for save files.
Fixed various smaller issues.
This release also changes around some of Owlboy's internals in preparation for the impending Mac and Linux releases. Hopefully those changes won't affect gameplay.
If you're experiencing problems with this update, the previous version of Owlboy is available in the previous_release version on Steam. To access it, right click Owlboy, go to Properties -> Betas, and select previous_release from the drop-down menu, and wait for Steam to update.
UPDATE: Because of a bug that was reported in version v1.1.6232.30265, we have hotfixed it with version 1.1.6233.23511. The features are all the same.
Mac + Linux Beta Testing
Hi everyone! This last month, we've been busy preparing the imminent launch of Owlboy on Mac and Linux!
Seeking Testers
Right now, we are looking for testers for both platforms! If you are interested, let us know - test@dpadstudio.com (please include your system specs in the e-mail).
The ports will be using Ethan Lee's FNA, and as such, will no longer require an installation of XNA to run.
This is a minor release that hotfixes a bug that would occur in the Owl Temple, where if players stood in a certain position by the jugs, the game would run very slowly and sometimes crash. We felt that this warranted a fix as soon as possible, and this release fixes only that bug.
If for some reason you have problems with this patch, the previous version is available. To access it, right click Owlboy in your Steam library, and go to Properties -> Betas, and select 0.0.6184.23706.
