Pacer

launch date delay

Hi Pilots

We’re super excited to tell you that development on Pacer is going very well. We’ve demo’d the game from Manchester to San Paolo and the reaction has been beyond our expectations. Praise for the game has come from literally thousands of people who’ve now played it over 2019.

A launch date for Pacer has unfortunately not been fixed, yet. Multiplayer functionality and networking issues on the consoles, now overcome, delayed our plans to launch this winter. We are however fast approaching our first submission to both Playstation and Microsoft putting us on the final road towards a Gold Master. Once approved, we will be formally announcing a firm release date.

We are a very small team, but as per usual we’ve all had our heads down working on making Pacer the game it always should have been. While we do that we’re guilty of not being able to talk to our community as much as we would like. This will change, and we are actively looking to hire a new community manager ASAP. Until that happens, we will post updates at least once a month on the progress of the game either via Kickstarter, our newsletter or on Discord, Steam or FaceBook.

Ajura Track Reveal Trailer

It's time to transport Pacer down-under, introducing our latest track reveal - Ajura. If you’re eager to take on Ajura for yourself - alongside other previously revealed tracks - we will be bringing the latest build of Pacer to EGX London, taking place in London’s ExCeL exhibition centre between 17th-20th October.

SATAWALD Track Reveal - Gamescom

SATAWALD is a new German track revealed during Gamescom 2019.

Running at 60fps across all formats and in native 4K on PC, Satawald's circuit is set in a beautiful forest and showcases Pacer’s stunning visuals, casting light on the track’s jumps, turns, climbs, apexes, and tunnels in what is the latest addition to the game’s 14 strong roster.

Like all other tracks in the deep, skill-based racing game’s library, Satawald will be playable in both day and night - the latter really highlighting its neon lights, glistening in the reflections on track - as well as in reverse and mirror modes, meaning this track alone offers a total of eight different versions to play, straight out of the gate.

BIG NEWS!

Hi brave, wonderful and patient Formula Fusion (now Pacer) community

You’ll see our press announcement and trailer soon if you haven’t seen it already and you can’t have missed the changes to the Store page.

We just wanted to clarify what’s happening and why we’re doing it:

- we’ve re-branded Formula Fusion as "Pacer"
- we are removing the Purchase option as we’re going to be increasing / changing the price when we launch Pacer later this year / summer
- existing owners will still be able to play the game they have in their libraries and can expect a massive update at launch
- Pacer will launch on XB1/PS4 with a free update on Steam. A new game; bigger, better, more polished in every way and a price to reflect this.

Release
On final release the game formerly known as Formula Fusion will be called Pacer and will feature:
- a brand new UI and branding while retaining all the Designers Republic graphics
- 14 Tracks: 6 brand new ones and 8 you’ll recognize from before but polished and improved until you can see you face in them
- 5 Craft, each with its own handling characteristics but massively customizable in the Garage
- 10 Weapons, including 4 new ones. Every one with considerably polished FX and mechanics plus new Modification cards
- Loadouts for Handling, Weapons and Cosmetics
- a completely rebuilt SinglePlayer Campaign based around playing through Careers in the 10 teams
- a new auto-targeting system
- a hugely optimized fps on Steam - a 1070 GPU maintains an average 140fps approx, maxing out at 200fps approx
- new music from Cold Storage (8 track OST) and licensed tracks from a bunch of old favorites including DubFX and a many more
- upgraded FX
- upgraded Sound FX some by Tim Wright himself
- hosted servers
- Spectator mode from outside of the Lobby for viewing races from any craft at any angle: Chase, Nose, Orbit and Environment cameras
- Tournament Mode multiplayer: set up a series of races in your Lobby, results update after each race
- Ranked Mode for multiplayer: Results increase or decrease your ELO score in one global game leaderboard. Who will top it?!
- voice chat in multiplayer - you’ve just blown up, tell them how you really feel!
- a unique race mode for single and multiplayer which we’ll be revealing nearer to launch
- a re-written physics and handling system
- re-engineered, machine learning AI to give everyone a challenge
- a massive lore expansion on the flip side of the game
- languages: to be announced

Update 1.3.186 Released

Dear Pilots

Dates
Since our last post in January, R8 Games has secured finishing funds and has been hard at work developing and porting to console. No dates yet, but as it stands right now we’re looking at a new Steam “edition" and simultaneous console launch (PS4/XB1) before the middle of 2019. Yes, we know, we said 2018. We were wrong and we apologize for the further delay. The funds sunk into Formula Fusion since late 2015 have exceeded what preceded them many times over but we’re still a very small indie developer with often less than 6 people working on the game at any one time.

While we know it might look like a proverbial Marie Celeste from the outside, the engines have always been running and they’re screaming full throttle right now. We have no intention of leaving this ship. Please don’t take our lack of communication as a sign that we don’t appreciate your support and patience. We just have our heads down making the best possible game we can for you.

What’s to come
Before mid 2019 our current plans are to release an “edition” on Steam with a simultaneous launch on PS4 and XB1. All existing Formula Fusion owners will get this new game for free.

The game will contain all the tracks and craft that Formula Fusion currently has plus a whole bunch more:

  • New tracks,
  • New UI (including tDR icons and graphics),
  • New race modes,
  • New AI,
  • New Career Mode,
  • New interactive Tutorial
  • New weapons, targeting system and FX
  • New mix of licensed music old and new, hardcore and chill.
  • New smoother Multiplayer on hosted servers with leaderboards for Time
  • Trials and Ranked Races

The game as it always should have been.

Thanks again for your support and patience, there will be more news to come in the future.
