Might & Glory Club's Legendary Heroes

During August 21 - 25, members of the Might & Glory Club had the chance to play the release version of Pagan Online before official launch, and they created a ton of great content in a number of languages with it! We loved going through everyone's videos and streams, and we hope you did too.

Without further ado, the Legendary Heroes of the Might & Glory Club are...

VASERATI

- a super creator and Pagan Online community legend who enjoys doing crazy challenges and regular giveaways on stream.

ONGLOR

- a dedicated Guardian over on the Discord channel and a long-time content creator. His streams are full of build guides and helpful tips and info.

VULKAN

- a pretty talented streamer we think is on his way to great things. Always expect to see quality coverage of games in his videos and streams.

Congratulations, folks! We will be in touch with you this week, and as for the mighty heroes featured in as Heroes of the Day, each of you will gain a place in the game credits of Pagan Online!

Thanks for joining us for the first Might & Glory Club activity, and we will be reaching out regularly with more initiatives.

Pagan Online full release patch notes

We will be introducing Patch 1.0 on August 27 at 06:30 UTC. Servers will be down from 05:00 to 06:30 UTC.

Pagan is Online – Patch 1.0

Greetings Pagans,

Today is the day! The culmination of a three year long journey - the release of Pagan Online!

Our pure passion and your feedback drove us to improvise, adapt, overcome. It helped us bridge the gap between the demo and this new hardcore beast of a game that is Pagan Online.

It’s been a hell of an experience for every single one of us. Every texture, every animation, every piece of user interface, every line of code has a developer behind it that is grateful to have the opportunity to share it with you all. Those of you who joined us in closed tests and then in Early Access, you have made us better developers.

We will continue to listen and improve with every iteration. We have a lot of plans for the future of Pagan Online and a lot of cool ideas that we’re excited to share with you in upcoming updates.

With great pride we present to you: the release version of Pagan Online!

- The Pagan Online Team

HEROES

We recognize that players want more variety in their starting hero choice so we did something about that – now ALL heroes can be picked in the tutorial as your starting hero!

Heroes remain one of the pillars of Pagan Online and our goal is to always think of new and unique heroes to bring to the Pantheon. We like to experiment with playstyles, combat mechanics and visual appearances. We want to keep it fresh and cool and for this patch we bring you just that, two new heroes. Meet Elden and Hector!

  • Elden - The Frozen Soul

“When he first awoke, there was only ice and snow. He walked for days, lost in the swirling winds and frigid tundra before he realized it was not hurting him - it was empowering him. His essence has become frozen, his body and soul ice incarnate. The Igman tribesmen have called him Elden, but that name is all he has. He still struggles and searches to remember his past, and his present is a constant flurry of slaughtering demons - the creatures seem to loathe him with a passion… but the feeling is mutual. His future should be that of answers, of murder and revelation - for though the Frozen Soul does not truly know his purpose, deep within he feels he is destined... for something more.”

Elden is a quick and nimble dual wielding frost construct with high attack speed that slows and potentially freezes enemies with each slice or javelin-throw.

  • Hector - The Rebel Fighter

"The ruling elite of Valence lord over their technological society with an iron fist, but they have but one fear - that the dejected Abandoned Ones - a rebel group created from the lowest of their society, attempts a coup. To them, the Abandoned Ones are but unorganized rabble, living on scraps and remains - like rats. What they do not know is that the Abandoned Ones have a champion. He has no mercy for demon nor despot. He is no leader, but he gets things done. He is Hector.”

Hector is an agile scrapper who specializes in everything fire. His weapon of choice is the blunderbuss and he uses dirty tricks to set the battleground ablaze.

  • All Heroes can now be picked in the tutorial as a starting hero.

Ability Tree

Passives have been added to the ability tree. They are always active, similar to primary attack, but they can also be leveled up and have single branches of bonuses and one special modifier. We are also adding some quality of life improvements like Loadouts.

We plan to expand the current system with more abilities.

  • All heroes now have their core passive abilities as a part of the ability tree

  • Loadout support added – you can now save build loadouts

  • Potency Point counter improved

  • Ability hover info improved

  • UI - new VFX added for different levels of activated abilities

  • Ability Tree can now be previewed from both Starting Hero Selection and Hero Forge

  • Abilities that are fixed and can’t be leveled with potency points now have different UI.

STORY

As things begin, they also end. We are very happy to add the conclusion of our epic journey, that started long ago with a hero’s death on the battlefield. We also did some polishing and made fixes to the acts that are already in the game.

New Content

  • Act VII narrative and quests implemented

  • Act VIII narrative and quests implemented

  • Two new bosses await you!

Fixes and Polish

  • Act I - Ognya cutscene polished

  • Act II - some VFX polish

  • Act III - camera fixes and visual polish

  • Acts IV and V - level design and VFX polish

  • Act VI - cutscene at the end of the act finalized.

MULTIPLAYER

Co-op play remains one of the priorities for us, so we did some work with optimization and quality of life.

  • Latency and network optimization

  • Hero movement abilities improvement for co-op

  • Ping system implemented – ping anywhere on the map to give a signal to other players (default bind: “G”)

  • Waiting for players screen - players icon visible on the loading screen.

PANTHEON

We made some improvements to the social hub. Quality of life and user experience has never been better, but we will continue to make sure this system is the best it can be.

  • Test the Hero - added the option to test a hero before unlocking it

  • Hero Selection/Hero Forge - all graphics and info for all abilities are present

  • Hero Selection/Hero Forge - removed gameplay video for separate abilities and replaced it with longer gameplay videos which showcase a hero’s play style

  • Party Screen - friend status added (login, online/offline, in a battle)

  • Vendor improvements - Dukat now has “mark all” button for easier selling.

Battlegate Improvements

  • Enemy tooltip info improved

  • New visuals for nodes in act VII and VIII

  • Rewards window enlarged.

ENEMIES

We already had a lot of different enemies in Pagan Online. So just for kicks we decided to add some new ones too! They can be found in Acts VII and VIII. We also did some improvements to a certain undead king.

  • New enemies can be found in Acts VII and VIII.

Furun the Soulsmith

  • VFX polished

  • Animations improved

  • Soul Siphon Ability fixed

  • Speed increased

  • Chance of melee attack increased

  • Hammer Throw now works differently.

King Vukashin

The good king has been with us for a long time. He was the first boss we ever created and his AI behavior was a bit outdated. We decided to show him some last-minute love and make him more interesting. He has a new fight phase and some new nasty surprises.

CRAFTING & INVENTORY

Our goal is always to have crafting not overshadow the chase for drops, and we are happy with the mechanics as they are now. In future iterations of crafting, we plan to re-introduce crafting levels in a more meaningful way.

  • When placing a recipe inside the Drevna Kutia, you can use CTRL to preview different levels of that recipe so you can see what to expect when using different levels of base items with it

  • Inventory panels (Stats, Stash, Gear, Inventory) can now be opened/closed with F1 - F4 keys

  • Item sorting options added as a button in the lower right corner of Inventory

  • Four Materials tabs are now combined into single tab

  • Rebalanced some legendary weapon Ability Level Boost stats.

AUDIO & MUSIC

Sound and music are vital components in the Pagan Online experience which we will always continue to add to and improve on.

  • The volume of intro splash movies has been reduced

  • Voiceovers implemented for all NPCS in Acts VI, VII and VIII

  • Environment sound effects for all battlegrounds greatly improved

  • Sound effects for many NPCs polished and expanded

  • New music tracks added to all battlegrounds

  • Mixing of audio elements (voiceovers, sounds and music) improved

  • Some UI sounds have been reworked

  • Audio assets loading optimized.

CHAT

In-game chat is one of those pesky features that requires a lot of technical problems to be solved, but we were able to expand on this feature for release.

  • Item Inspect: items can now be linked in chat by dragging an item from the inventory to the chat text box. A maximum of 5 items can be linked in a single message

  • Color coding for names and items added

  • You can invite players to your party directly from chat by clicking their names

  • Help options in chat (/help)

  • Chat can be opened by pressing “Enter”

  • Chat, when minimized, will go behind the UI of screens such as Inventory and Battlegate.

OPTIONS

Adding more options is one of those things that always happens along the way as features develop. For release, we focus on controller support, rebinding, loot filters and more.

  • Gamepad rebinding implemented

  • Controller sensitivity sliders added

  • Added dark background on options screen

  • Close confirmation windows implemented

  • By popular demand, there is a first iteration of the loot filter

  • Hide/Show UI added as a keybinding in the Keyboard Controls tab.

GENERAL & QUALITY OF LIFE

  • Victory Screen received some additional work

  • The map, inventory, and options are closed during cutscenes

  • Main Menu can now be opened at the end of the Battle, per popular request

  • Client Versioning message added.

Patch Notes: 0.6.0 aka BFP #2

We will be introducing Patch 0.6.0 on August 8 at 06:30 UTC. Servers will be down from 05:00 to 06:30 UTC.

07/08 @17:30 UTC: we were so excited to share these today that we forgot a couple of additions, so we are adding a quick update to these notes! Legendary items drop rates have been boosted, and a new party chat has been implemented.

"Greetings Pagans,

Big… friendly patch 2 is upon us. With this patch we are bringing some more love to the endgame. Our main goal was always to have a polished first time user experience and while we continue to work on that, we really want to give players something to chase when they reach endgame.

The first iteration of the system includes meta loops to chase recipes, potency points, item origins, and ways to roll fabled powers on your legendary items. With this in mind we have reorganized missions after level 40; some regular missions are now assassination missions and we’ve added more of the regular missions to fill in the blanks.

We continue to build upon the user experience and control scheme variations, with more work on controller support and the first iteration of the click-to-move system. We didn’t want to just copy the system from other aRPG games as we are firm believers in the “strafe while attack” pillar that our game promotes, so our click-to-move comes with a twist.

No major rework or balancing of heroes occurred for this patch, as this is something we will be doing for the full release soon, so make the most of those OP builds that are still in-game while you can.

We are slowly approaching the big day and all of us at Mad Head Games are really excited to share this journey with you!

And remember, WASD > all.

Cheers"

- Emil aka Easymode, Lead Game Designer

(CURRENT) END GAME CONTENT AND NEW MISSIONS

For those of you who have finished the current campaign and mission, we’ve prepared a number of different ways to upgrade your character, be it through gear or through additional skill points. The endgame missions now have additional features which allow you to further elevate your character.

Shroud Cage

  • Shroud Cages are mysterious entities which have a chance to spawn in level 41 to 50 patrol, expedition and assassination missions as a special kind of encounter.

  • Activating a Shroud Cage requires assistance from a petrified Fog Fiend - an item found in Assassinations.

  • Once a Shroud Cage is activated by the Fog Fiend, the hero must defeat - you guessed it - a dangerous enemy before they can get their hands on the treasure hidden within.

  • Once the enemy is defeated, the Shroud Cage is destroyed, leaving behind a valuable recipe, with a 100% drop rate.

Idol of Wisdom

  • The Idol of Wisdom can be found in level 41 to 50 patrols and expeditions.

  • In order to activate the Idol, the hero must possess a Talisman of Wisdom, forged from Wisdom Stones. These Wisdom Stones can be found as rewards in Threats.

  • Once an Idol of Wisdom is activated, the hero must protect it from incoming enemies for a certain amount of time. If they succeed, they are rewarded with an additional Potency point, which can be spent in the Ability tree.

  • The maximum number of additional Potency points is 10, after which activating the Idol won’t grant any additional Potency points.

Fable Forge

  • Fable Forge is an Assassination mission which allows heroes to further upgrade their Legendary weapons. Entering the Fable Forge will require a grim gift - Sacred Offerings acquired in Hunts.

  • Once the hero collects enough Sacred Offerings, they can enter the Fable Forge to defeat a well known boss in order to get access to the Anvil of Gods.

  • The Anvil of Gods will bestow one (1) Fabled Attribute upon any Legendary weapon.

Gauntlet

  • The Gauntlet has been reworked from one giant daunting challenge to five smaller, but equally engaging challenges. Now, heroes can enter Gauntlet I by using the same kind of Assassination keys as for the final Assassination mission before the Gauntlet.

  • Gauntlets II, III and IV will be accessible by collecting gruesome trophies at the end of each Gauntlet.

  • Gauntlets II, III and IV will require progressively more trophies in order to enter each of the arenas.

  • Each Gauntlet ends with its own elite enemy, and grants its own special rewards.

Trophies for the Gauntlet are of magic rarity so be advised that disabling magic items in the loot filter will prevent you from seeing them on the ground after the boss drops them.

New Missions

  • A new mission block has been added with missions 41-50.

ITEMIZATION

Schools of Magic

The biggest change in our current itemization system is the introduction of Schools of Magic. This feature is meant to add another layer to itemization in Pagan Online, and allow players to add brand new visuals to their characters. For now, a set of items belonging to a specific School of Magic will only grant a stat bonus on items of the same school, as well as some stunning visual effects on your character, but we hope to elevate this feature more in the future, allowing for some exciting builds and combinations.

  • Each item that drops will have a chance to be either a base item, or to belong to one of five Schools of Magic. These chances are low for lower level items and gradually become higher with higher item and enemy levels.

  • Once players collect three, five, or eight items of the same School of Magic, visual effects begin appearing on the character.

- Sets of 3 items or more grant Auras, visible beneath player characters.
- Sets of 5 items or more grant visual effects around the player characters.
- Sets of 8 items or more grant ethereal wings, which move in unison with the player character.

  • Different Schools have differently themed and colored effects.

  • No matter which School the set belongs to, the players will receive a buff to all their stats on their currently equipped gear. The stat buff is dependent on the number of items the player has and whether the School of Magic is more common (3 Schools in total) or more rare (2 Schools in total).

Legendary Weapons

In our efforts to bring you the best possible experience when it comes to powerful items, we have reworked the way legendary items (for now, just weapons) roll their powers. In addition to the Legendary power overhaul, legendary weapons now come with exclusive stats which can’t be found on any other item in the game. Although this system works for weapons only right now, our goal is to design and implement legendary and fabled powers for all equipable legendary items very soon.

As we are making changes to the Gauntlet and adding endgame content, the drop rate of legendary items has been boosted in this patch.

Legendary and Fabled Powers

  • Legendary weapons will now have a brand new Legendary Power.
  • Legendary Powers are mostly focused on dealing damage and having interesting visual effects (such as lightning strikes, flame bursts, etc).

  • Each legendary weapon has its own Legendary Power, which can’t be changed and which is not character specific (meaning that more characters can have the same Legendary Powers on their weapons).

  • As before, these powers are tied to specific Artifacts, which are used in crafting legendary weapons.

  • Fabled Powers are now gained after finishing the Fable Forge battle. Once the battle is finished, players can gain one Fabled Power for their weapon.
  • Fabled Powers can be hero specific or general, but in each case they represent a powerful upgrade to the hero’s kit.

  • The Fable Forge can only provide one upgrade per battle, but players can replay the battle as many times as they like.

Since there are now more artifacts than Legendary Powers, artifacts that can’t be used in crafting, and therefore have no use except for clogging up your inventory, have been removed from drops and from your inventory.

Buffed stats on legendary items

  • Legendaries can now only be of Superior or Flawless quality, and can no longer drop as Common.

  • All Tier 5 legendaries have 1-2 stats (depending on their item type) which are significantly higher than stats on epic items.

  • Legendary jewelry can now roll 2-3 stats instead of only 1.

Ability Bonus Stats

  • All Tier 5 weapons now have a special stat which gives bonus levels to specific abilities (e.g. “Kubura +4” upgrades Kubura to level 4 in your Ability tree). Players still have to invest at least 1 Potency point in a certain skill in order to unlock it and for the bonus to be applicable.

  • The maximum level of a specific ability is now raised to 8.

  • Bonuses to certain abilities are still to be implemented - most of the new abilities are still to receive their stat bonuses, but they will be added over the next few patches.

CONTROLS

Click-to-move
The first iteration of click-to-move is here! Players can activate this control scheme in the Options menu. By default, RMB can be used to lock onto a certain enemy, allowing the player to move around without having to target constantly. We hope to fully polish this feature for release.

Controller support
Battle navigation now boasts full controller support, with both move and aim functions. The UI navigation is still being worked on, and is expected to be fully polished for full release.

BALANCE & TWEAKS

Hero Ability Tree

Known Issue: due to preparing ground work for hero passives to be part of the ability tree and therefore, upgradeable in the future, some numbers and functionalities of the passives that have been tweaked may not be reflected in the UI properly, despite passives working essentially very close to previous versions. This will be fixed in the following patches.

Missions & Encounters

  • Hunt gold rewards have been buffed.

  • Golden chicken gold & item drops have been buffed.

Heroes

  • Vavvan’s Fortitude gain per level has been buffed and his Intelligence has been significantly decreased.

  • Kingewitch’s Flamestrike ability has been polished.

Chat

The new global chat (Unified chat realm) is implemented.
