PAINT WARFARE'S BIGGEST QoL UPDATE + NEW ABILITIES (1.8)

Hey all!

Sorry about the delay with this update, there's been a lot of smaller features I've been putting together :)


New Abilities!


I've added 3 new abilities.




  • Super speed boots
  • Heal
  • Jetpack


To prevent this from getting overwhelming in combination with the existing abilities, there's now a new ability equip/unlock system.


New Ranking, Currency & Daily Challenges





I've been rethinking the way ranking should work in the game; grinding rank can be repetitive, so I've introduced a set of 10 daily challenges (more coming soon).

I've also changed the key system to coins to accommodate for the new changes and future changes I have planned.

Your keys will be converted to coins (with a free bonus for being a player before this update)


Feedback on Bots




Thank you for your feedback on the bots. I agree they weren't ideal.

As we're growing our community & player base, they're no longer necessary so I'm removing them. The only chance you'll see a bot in this update is when there are no players.


QoL


I've been focused on QoL this update— and some huge new content updates are planned for later this month.


  • Keybinds
  • Sniper aim sensitivity slider
  • Improved rank related UI
  • Huge gun rebalancing, added inaccuracy the sniper when not aimed
  • Added a kick (F)
  • Added paint splatter (thanks for the suggestion)
  • Improved the verticality in the maps

  • Added US servers, with a region select if you want to play with friends on a different region
  • MMR-based matchmaking
  • Added a double-jump
  • Improved the respawning screen
  • Added a leaderboard in respawn

NEW GAMEMODES –> HUGE CONTENT UPDATE (1.7.0)

Hey!

New Minigames | FACTORY MAP ONLY


I added three new HUGE gamemodes to spice things up.
They're exclusive to the factory map so we can increase the player counts there for now :)

Capture the Cow




Take control and capture the holy cow with your team in this game mode, to regenerate health as you hold it!

Mines



Push around mines and drop them on your enemies to explode them!

Floor is lava




The classic game; now in Factory :)

Team Deathmatch


I've made some huge changes to team deathmatch to make it more enjoyable for you all


  • 'Blue' team is now your teammates

  • Scoring is now based on kills

  • You can now see your teammates through walls



Gunplay


To help add more depth to the gunplay, I've added a new procedural recoil system with unique recoil patterns for


  • AK (Snake)
  • Frenzy
  • Minigun


This should make using these weapons more enjoyable and balance them out a bit.


QoL



  • Improved UIs
  • Bug fixes
  • New disconnection screen
  • Patch notes
  • Sped up match joining speed ~200%
  • So much more!

BALANCE & BUGFIX (1.6.2)

Yo!
I'm aiming to get rid of as many bugs as possible over the coming weeks :)



Bugfix



  • macOS build fixes
  • Fixed a bug that caused the (removed) map vote to sometimes pop up
  • The match timer will no longer run in the background
  • The camera will now face the player that eliminated you as intended
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Railgun to be lit up constantly
  • Polish to the 'Global Leaderboard' and 'Map Select' tabs of the main menu
  • Removed beta 'Drift' maps from the game. Still working on adding it back soon though :)
  • Fixed gamemode desync issues
  • Fixed the spoon weapon gaining 5-10 kills at once on occasion
  • Fixed version text around the game displaying the wrong version
  • Fixed the main menu join button being stuck on "connecting" when there were no players
  • Patched some connection issues


Balancing



Railgun


The railgun felt underpowered in comparison to the sniper, so I buffed its distinct features to give it some advantage

  • Launch back force from the rail gun increased 1,000 —> 2,000
  • Fire rate increased (10%)


Frenzy


The frenzy could outclass the AK in some situations and felt overpowered at times. So it was necessary to make it less accurate at further ranges.

  • Accuracy decreased (40%)


Minigun


The minigun has a strong foothold in taking out large groups of enemies, which is the intention; however a lot of you felt that it took too long to spin up

  • Decreased spin-up time (18%)

POLISH & BUGFIX (1.6.1)

Hiya!

Here's a quick bugfix patch :3



Bugfix



  • ACR Fixes
  • Fixed bug where you could switch to the same weapon (playing animation) over and over
  • Removed 0 character width names
  • 'Opening pause menu, opening options— then pressing escape gives you full control of the game with pause menu open' - FIXED
  • Clearer pause/typing indicator
  • Removed map vote/ countdown
  • Added an indicator to see bots through walls

UFO EVENT, MINIGUN AND GLOBAL LEADERBOARDS - (1.6.0)

Minigun ;)





  • Introducing the Minigun! — a rapid-fire machine gun that unlocks at rank 4! Deal heavier damage than the AK, with 125 rounds at the cost of a small charge-up.



  • Also added some new damage text indicators... let me know what you think!



Map Votes—



  • I heard playing on the same maps was getting a little repetitive for y'all, so I made a new map vote every 10 minutes.




Let me know on the discord though if you think this needs adjusting :)


Global Leaderboad!!!



  • Added a sick new global & steam friends leaderbead, scores are the total number of kills you have in total across all games.

NEW TUTORIAL, MAC M1 AND BUGFIX (1.5.0)

Howdy!

I've returned, I'm currently doing exams so this one is a little on the smaller side— I'll be making updates on a more consistent basis now though :3



New Tutorial




I noticed a very large chunk of new players (45%) would quit the game in the tutorial, so obviously we needed some improvements...


  • Improved map layout
  • Hired a German voice actor to make the tutorial more entertaining
  • Added keybind GUI





Apple Silicon


Did some project upgrades, I haven't been able to test it fully but the game should (hopefully) now also run on M1


Other Major Changes



  • Return of jukebox feature in the menu
  • Fixed a bug that allowed you to equip weapons/ items you hadn't unlocked yet
  • Smoother frames in the main menu
  • Fixed a bug that would cause the Railgun's ray to desync/ persist after switching weapons

REFLECTIVE RAILGUN, BUSHES and POLISH (1.4.0)

Ima try to drop these huge updates on a monthly basis now :)


The Thundergun




Introducing the Thundergun! — a new reflective rail gun dropped into Paint Warfare from an alien warship.

It fires an instantaneous, green reflective light beam that one-shots any enemy in its path (fires slower than the sniper).




Map Improvements




I saw some of y'all try hide in the bushes on Blizzard, but they were too small so I made them larger. It'd be fun to see how this improves gameplay :)


Polish



  • New immersive ambient track for all maps
  • 4 new achievements
  • Increased the size of hit direction indicator
  • Improved explosives gunplay & added subtle camera shake
  • Bubble grenade fixes
  • More feedback when getting hit
  • Double XP/ supporter boost now displays near points in the kill text to reduce confusion
  • Definitely no new easter eggs

Paint Warfare Patch Notes (1.3.2)

There were some minor issues with the game, so here's one more patch to add polish :)


Fixes + Changes



  • Linked the YouTube and Discord Server in the main menu (thanks for Goose for the suggestion)
  • Fixed a bug that caused all of the ranks to display at once in the profile
  • Fixed a bug that caused player team colors to sync from the Team Deathmatch Mode to FFA
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Viking Helmet, Anime Headband and Holy Headgear to be pre-unlocked


Balance



  • ACR scope animation is now 35% faster
  • The beach ball game mode (Dunes, Dragon Valley) now summons 3 beach balls instead of one
