Sweater of Doubts update — 20/06/2019



Hey everyone!

We've got a small update for you today, with more stuff coming very soon! This week you'll be able to get another piece of cosmetics — the sweater from the GIF above. To earn it, you have to make your way to the leaderboard and stay there until it resets.

Resets happen every day at 19:00 CEST/10:00 PST/13:00 EST, except for today — the leaderboard has been reset with the update. The last day to earn the sweater will be Sunday.

And if you'd like to customize your character a bit but don't have the time to compete for the top 15 — don't worry, we'll have something for you very soon. Oh, and those weird quotes you see next to the items? They might be related to the game's lore. Go figure.

Bombs and Other Zombie Changes — 13/06/19



Hey everyone! This week we're reworking the Mimics, making them more distinct from the regular bombers that are currently being reworked. Now instead of exploding mimics can plant bombs! We have also tweaked the Conductor, making them a bit more powerful.

Mimic rework:

- Mimic can now plant bombs — press Q to activate
- Mimic can hit as normally by pressing LMB
- Mimic can plant up to 3 bombs, planting a bomb after that will cause the oldest one to de-spawn
- Bombs look like armor jars
- Bombs are triggered by humans in proximity of 4 meters
- Blast radius is 8 meters
- Bombs can be deactivated by shooting at them
- Upon explosion, humans in the blast radius start to lose health, one heart per 6 seconds
- Humans can stop this damage by holding E


Conductor tweak:

- An explosion upon hitting causes 0,5 heart damage
- Increased health
- Added a 60 seconds Conductor transfer timer. After the time is up, the role is transferred to another player without the death penalty
- The timer can be refilled by doing damage or killing a human
- Conductor is now tagged for other zombies
- Conductor can no longer slide


- Humans can't shoot while opening a drop
- The safe zone now shrinks to the size of the train
- [Map] Tweaked a location next to the Station A

Conductor Update — 07/06/2019



Hey everyone!

It's been only a day since the last update, and we've already got another one for you!

This time we're introducing a new zombie class — the Conductor.

Conductor is a boss zombie that is given to one random zombie player when the humans are overpowering the zombies.

It's got a ton of health and can't be knocked back by bullets. When it dies, the role is given to another random zombie player, and so on until the situation is more even.

Zombies Respawn System Update — 31/05/19



Hey everyone!


The weekly update is here! This time we've made changes to the way zombies are respawned, which will bring a new tactical dimension to the zombie gameplay.

- New Zombie Respawn system
- Upon dying, a zombie enters the respawn mode
- A zombie can spawn anywhere on the map if these conditions are met:
1) There are no humans in the zombie's field of view
2) The zombie is outside 20m radius of any human
3) The zombie isn't on the train
- While in respawn mode, a zombie can always teleport to a zombie nest
- A zombie can teleport to a nest by pressing R, same conditions apply

- Fixed shotgun reload sound

24/05/19 Update + Mimic Day Event!



Hey there! Sorry we weren't in touch lately.

The team is working relentlessly on making the core of the game even more enjoyable (more on that in later announcements) and adding more content.

And to keep they players happy in the meantime, we've decided to run a series of event.

First up is the Mimic Day, and here's how it works:


  • All zombies look like humans
  • First zombie (patient zero) is a mimic that can explode
  • Regular zombies look like humans but can't explode, instead they hit like normally
  • Upon hitting 100% on your zombie meter you can respawn as an exploding mimic


You can't trust anyone, especially in the early game, when humans don't have weapons. Should be fun!

The event starts right now and will last until Sunday, 19:00 CEST/13:00 EST/10:00 PST

Mimics Hotfix 10/05/2019 Is Live!



Hey everyone!

Yesterday's zombie changes were quite an overkill. Our goal is to find a good balance — a state of the game where playing as a human and as a zombie is both fun and challenging.

The game is still very young, and we're working on finding that balance while adding new features to the game. Thank you for bearing with us!

This hotfix should make the game challenging for the humans once again, and in the meantime we will be closely monitoring win rates and other statistics, as well as working on overhauling the Bomber.

- Mimic's explosion radius increased to 10 meters, critical hit radius— 5 meters
- Yellow/red explosion indicator is now correctly displayed for humans

- Mimic can now swallow a human while exploding

Bombers rework + New zombie class!


Hey everyone!

We’ve heard you loud and clear: bombers are too strong, human wins are too rare.

Instead of just nerfing the bombers, we’ll do you one better:

- Bombers have been removed for a rework
- Introducing a new class: Mimic!

These changes should tune down the oppressiveness of exploding zombies, making the game more fair for the humans.

"Play with friends" Update is Live!



Hey everyone!

Playing with friends feature is live!
Please restart your Steam client to receive the update


Here's how to use it:

  • Click on a plus icon next to your profile icon
  • Invite your friends
  • When everyone is ready, click the play button (“Escape”)


Connecting to a server will take a bit longer than normal — we're working on optimizing it.

Maximum party size is 4 players.

  • Added "Play with friends" feature
  • Fixed various issues with "Play with friends" feature discovered during the playtest


Known issue: some players who've playtested the update lost some of their levels, this will be fixed soon.

Hi everyone!

I have a quick status update for you all. Today we tested the first iteration of the Friend Invite system and it wasn't stable enough for us to roll out to the main branch. There are a couple of server-side issues we need to fix first, so the team went to bed and will work on fixing the remaining issues tomorrow. We expect the feature to rollout within 24h.

Meanwhile I had a chat with the current #1 ranked Pandemic Express player - Twixted - and he was kind enough to allow me to share some of his gameplay highlights. You may have seen his gameplay stream on the Steam Page -- and if not, here's a clip we just posted on Youtube:

TLDR the guy is insane. We knew we had dynamic movement in the game, but the way he combines "rocket jump"-style mechanics with sliding and traverses through the map is beyond insane. The clip above has him face off against 29 zombies players.... and yes, he wins.

This makes me believe Pandemic Express has a bright future ahead, and I am happy you are all part of it
