I have long dreamed of something physical from Papetura, some collectible. Since the game is made of paper, it was hard to come up with something. My favorite character, Shadow, is a bit misunderstood, maybe he should be hugged?
I hope we can make it happen! Have a great day! Tomasz Ostafin
Papetura Physical Edition Is Out!
Hey Everyone!
It's finally time for some hot news, the physical version of Papetura for Switch and Playstation is finally available for sale!
After a failed first attempt, my hopes were very low. Let me remind you that initially, my console publisher, Feardemic, tried to release a physical version on its own, which failed. Their second attempt, released by Meridiem Games, bore fruit. Thank you all for your patience and support! <3
The physical version of the "Craft Edition" was created in close cooperation with me, it has cool packaging, an artbook and a soundtrack!
From my research, Papetura is available in following shops: (Some may still have pre-order)
IGF Celebration Days Discount and NEW GAME Annoucement!
Hey friends,
Papetura got lucky and is part of the IGF Celebration Days event on Steam, along with other great games. It's a digital showcase celebrating award-winning indie games, the Independent Games Festival, and the players who love indie games.
The event is hosted on Steam and will between July 11 and 20. Check it out here:
At the same time, I want to show you Pirofauna, a adventure exploration game about a small Flame, in a world where setting things on fire is very friendly! The game is created, as usual, in my style - only from real paper, and the music is created by Tomas Dvorak!
After months of silence and refraining from unnecessary chatter, I can finally share with you the announcement of a new game, PIROFAUNA.
Check out Reveal Teaser Trailer:
What is it?
In Pirofauna, you are a tiny little flame wandering through a dark misty forest. You can set fire to anything your tail reaches. Light up the darkness, help lost and frightened worms, dispel unfriendly creatures.
This might be called explorative adventure. We will have freedom of movement and the ability to explore the forest with various bug villages.
The game is a huge step up from the 2D world of Papetura. The idea started when I felt too limited by the lack of depth. I built a dark field of grass, illuminated by “some” character that emits light. Everything came together as if the game created itself, and viola, a little Flame was born.
Everything in the game is still made of paper. The creation process has changed a bit, but it still makes me sit up until night cutting out paper sculptures.
The music for the game is composed, as in Papetura, by the wonderful Tomas Dvorak aka Floex. This time he experiments with various small instruments!
If you liked Papetura, you might like Pirofauna as well! Please Wishlist on Steam!
It's the greatest way to support my work, sharing and wishlisting the game, so I kindly ask you to do so! <3
All the best, Tomasz Ostafin

Physical Edition and Papetura Little Documentary!
Hey fans of paper!
I have some really hot news for you guys.. After months of working on the console versions of the game, I gave up! ːTuraPlayfulː
This is great news, because the publisher Feardemic took over this task, thanks to which Papetura is available on Switch, Xbox and Playstation. It was warmly received, so on this occasion I invite you to preorder the boxed version!
They look pretty cool, I'd love to have one on my shelf :). That's why I started thinking about a nice boxed version for PC, what gadgets would you like to have such a special version?
In the meantime, I have a little documentary with the wonderful voice of Rachel August.
Have a great watch!
My Friends Game - Hank: Straightjacket
Hey Everyone!
As solo dev, I sometimes stumble upon games that are also made by small teams, and I wish to help as much as it is possible, please have a look and let me know if you like it. So..
My friends created this 'micro' adventure game. It’s about a vigilante with time powers trying to survive and It's now available on Steam.
Hey, everybody! Kuba from My Next Games here. How’s everyone doing in the new year? For us it’s been busy. Last month, we’ve won a for a video game prototype! (I’m the guy in brown pants in the photo)
The competition was organized by CRPK Poland and we entered it with a proposal for a small point-and-click game - Hank: Straightjacket. Here’s the story of how this little adventure game came to be:
We were about to start working on a new dialog system for our main project - Hank: Drowning on Dry Land - and we wanted it to be a bit different. In a regular game when the conversation starts the game pauses - you talk to the character and you’re basically unable to do anything else. We want to change this and allow players to interact with the world while still in dialogue. There are some challenges that stem from that approach, though. What happens if the player does something noteworthy during the conversation? Wouldn’t it feel strange if the hero broke a piece of furniture and the npc didn't react to it? We had some ideas on how to tackle those problems but we couldn’t be sure they would work without trying them out in an actual game. And so we went on a rapid prototyping spree…
…Two weeks and five gallons of coffee later we finally had a build and a working prototype of the system. As a side effect we created this tiny escape room experience. We were quite surprised that it was even playable! So, we called it Hank: Straightjacket and decided to release it as a free game. If you’d like to - giving it a go! Hope you guys enjoy it and if you’re interested in more Hank’s adventure here the link to Hank: Drowning on Dry Land:
For past months I've been working on pad controller support for Papetura, and.. it's here!
The game supports now various pads, from xbox to pro controller, it should work fine. The gameplay feel quite different, so I encourage you to try it! Also vibrations work, but you can turn them down in game menu if you don't like them.
Everything should work fine on SteamDeck, I've tested it myself, but if you catch something off - please let me know!
Also at any point in the game you can switch to mouse control flawlessly.
Together with that:
Major update was to made to the game engine (Unity 2018 -> Unity 2020).
Some graphical assets fixes, and many minor improvements.
Apple Silicon support has been added.
That was a lot of work, and I hope you will like new controls. Now Pape can interact with everything within a reach of his hand. Have fun and share your thoughts!
All the best, Tomasz Ostafin
IGF Excellence in Visual Art
Hey Everyone!
When I started working on the game, as a joke I created a folder for the making-of videos named "the road to IGF". I think, it's as if the director named his folder 'the road to the Oscars' 😅 It was supposed to be funny but ..
I don't know how it happened, Papetura, my little imperfect game, started collecting awards at various festivals. It dared me to submit the game to the Independent Games Festival in San Francisco, a nomination came, and last night ... a win in the Excellence in Visual Art category.
I did not expect that, especially since I am far from being a good gamedev, and there are a lot of great games. Congratulations to all nominees and thank you all for your support, and to the Independent Games Festival for the award.
Something unbelievable happened, Papetura has been nominated for Excellence in Visual Art at Independent Games Festival Awards in San Francisco. Few years ago it was a running joke for me that the game will be shown at IGF, and somehow it made it to the festival for real. Wish me luck guys!
Also for the first time, Papetura is on Daily Deal -30% on Steam website, I hope it will do well with wider audience.
