One year ago, we released Pâquerette Down the Bunburrows and we didn’t quite expect it would be met with this much enthusiasm from the puzzle community, thank you all so much for all your kind words, fanarts, support, mods, feedback etc! Bunburrows sold over 20k copies and is now sitting on over 750 overwhelmingly positive reviews (road to 1k??), again, thank you so much~ ːbunnies_loveː
However, we promised some free updates, didn’t we? It's time for a development update, right?
Since releasing the Clockwork Bunnies update back in February and finishing up the Trading Cards in April, we've made good progress on the Into the Bunframe update, the second of the three free updates we announced back in October! Same as last time, it’s taking its sweet time since we still need to do part-time jobs to make ends meet, plus we’re working on some secret bun stuff in parallel!
This update is focused on extra polishing, quality of life improvements and implementation of hint systems! The idea behind this udpate is to enable as many players as possible to complete the current final objective of the game (those three pillars~) so they're able to experience the amazing stuff we've in store for the final Bunspeakable Depths update when it drops!
Today, we’re presenting you with three of the major additions that will come with Into the Bunframe:
Home capture hint system
With a single press of a button (Left Stick Press/H), you will be able to see where bunnies are supposed to be captured in each and every level, with a cool lil effect. This effectively helps reduce the possibility space and allows you to confirm the final step from which you can deduce the previous steps! This won’t save you from the clutches of the hardest levels in the game but definitely helps mitigate red herrings and validate theories and guesses. ːopheline_swirlː
Pâquerette’s Computer
Ophéline finally turned on Pâquerette’s Computer and it is filled with helpsies!!! "It's not as nerdy and ugly as Ophéline's, I can even install games on this one!!" - Pâquerette

This always-accessible computer has several features:
Rules recap: Rules Pâquerette learned are automatically added to a list when Pâquerette solves specific levels. This helps quickly remind players of their knowledge after long breaks and build an overview of everything they know when stuck on a puzzle
Spoilable rules: When stuck on a level, Pâquerette can spoil herself the mechanics she needs to solve the level, this is purely optional but may be useful when tutorialization wasn't enough for some players. After a confirmation prompt, spoiled rules will be added to the rules recap like any other!
Dialogues backlog: Pâquerette can re-read every dialogue she had, she likes to laugh at her own jokes.

This is the first of the 3 updates we teased in our Roadmap (don't look at the dates uwu)
In short:
A new secret bunny late mechanic was introduced (go experiment!)
Reworked the bunny counter so releasing bunnies feels less like losing progress
New void bunny somewhere in the NW? bunburrow
Lots of visual polish~
LOTS and LOTS of bugfixes, particularly those very nasty lagsplosions

Added new secret mechanic Bunny Bumps
This is our answer to nondeterministic bunsplosions, cases where it was unclear which block should get bunsploded.
The mechanic will be fully exploited in the Bunspeakable Depths update, in the meantime, you may find use for it to make new babies???
Bunny counters and signs no longer decrease when undoing captures or releasing bunnies so you don’t feel like losing progression anymore. Instead, the bunny icon is briefly replaced with a pen icon indicating how many bunnies are in the pen when appropriate.
Hell levels now have some new visual flavor based on the bunburrow they are below of, go give them a looksie!
Ghostly Bunburrow’s tileset was improved and some mushrooms even started growing there~
Pâquerette and Ophéline sprites improved
Counters are displayed below bunnies when stacking at least 7 of them
Cursed tiles now have proper visuals on the map
Timer should now be more consistant
Timer now changes color when paused
Change in speed multipliers
x1.3 -> x1.25 inside tunnels
X1.15 -> x1.2 when chasing carrots
Fix "lagsplosions": Instances where (intentionally or not) making the game lag would result in unpredictable/inconsistent behaviour
This required the introduction of a tick management system, implied a refactor of a huge chunk of the bunnies’ logic
It was intensively tested but if you find any behaviour that’s inconsistent with what you were used to, babies that are no longer possible or new trivial solutions to existing puzzles, please tell us!
Fix "speedsplosions": Instances where modified the bunnies’ speed while in movement would result in unpredictable/inconsistent behaviour
This has only be documented to happen in this update’s beta but I wouldn’t be surprised if this had been here all along
Bunnies’ speed modification is now either applied immediately if the bunnies aren’t moving or when all bunnies finished their current movement.
Added a new void bunny somewhere in the NW? bunburrow
Secret “Infinite Speed” mode was removed as it was no longer maintainable with the new tick system
Fix “magic walks”: Instances where bunnies would inadvertently change direction and never stop moving, even through walls, if a bunsplosion happened somewhere in the level during their own carrot chase
Fix bunny seeing diagonal traps when inside tunnel
Fix bunnies incorrectly prioritising the wrong traps when surrounded by traps under very specific conditions
Fix bunnies not stacking under certain circumstances upon entering a level from the side
Fix bunnies not getting stuck in traps when spawning on them after falling in holes or trespassing
Fix dialogues being missable when quitting the game while they’re still being displayed
Fix bunny not respawning upon re-entering their level under certain circumstances (bunny sent down hole then trespass)
Fix hovered bunny info not being displayed upon closing and re-opening map
Fix Paquerette being able to move when falling on a hole

Roadmap update!!
Heya bun-buns, As you may have noticed, we're a bit late on the schedule announced in the roadmap, we're very sorry about this. But fret not, progress has been made:
Community items announced for November are almost done (emojis, badges and cards are ready, only the wallpapers are left~)
Clockwork Bunnies update has been the end of me (hi, Lenophie typing!), it is a difficult refactor with a lot of trial and error, I haven't managed to fix the indeterministic bugs in a way I find adequate: I do have a fix that works but would force me to enforce a specific FPS cap instead of letting you pick yours in the options, I still have ideas on how to go about this but it's time-consuming and let's be honest, not very motivating compared to making new content, I'm still committed to delivering this but claiming I could do that soon was an oversight.
Work on the Into the Bunframe update has started in parallel!
To be fully transparent, while Bunburrows did sell well, it didn't sell well enough for us to dedicate ourselves full time to making new free content, we still have part-time jobs so we can make ends meet and have savings for our next productions (!), which is perfectly fine but does explain why we're taking a bit long~ Two of us are also struggling with mental health issues, the arrival of winter isn't particularly helping either, please bear with us! We're still committed on providing all that we announced in the roadmap (for free, except for the one paid DLC ofc), just expect a delay on the announced dates~
We're also very glad to have you all enjoy this little silly bunny game! With your consent, we're going to add some cute fanarts you all made of the game in each of our minor news such as this one!

After many trials, wayyy too much time and a few headaches, Pâquerette Down the Bunburrows is now available on MacOS!
The game runs smoothly on both M1 and Intel models, please let us know if you stumble upon any issues still~

Clockwork Bunnies Update is being actively worked on, beta testers are having a go at it, the update will be pushed to everyone when I'm done fixing everything~
Into the Bunframe Update is a bunch of Quality of Life features that have been requested since release (improved computer, map, baby hint system, rules recap, dialogues history, improved home captures feedback...), it also lays the foundation for the main piece:
The Bunspeakable Depths Update will finally complete Bunburrows' end-game, giving you access to a whole new area below the infamous Pillars Room, surprises are still waiting much deeper~ More details later... It will release at the same time as a paid lil DLC about another kind of expedition down the bunburrows...
Official Modding Support is also coming 👀 Our Discord community has already managed to make their own mods, even custom level packs with their own level editor! However,
official* modding support with Workshop integration will have to wait for all our own content to be out before being considered!
Mac version is still being worked on, just some undecipherable bugs along the way, bear with us... The build is already working on Macs with the M1 chip but not on other older models *yet*!
FAQ: "Why no precise date for the Clockwork Bunnies update?" Can't give a precise date because it's really a trial-and-error process requiring lots of code rewriting! I'm making weekly progress but it's complicated, I didn't expect to have to make rhythm-game-core tick-based code for a bunny-catching game but heh, meta game happened and the implications got out of my hands hehe
"Will Clockwork Bunnies have new content?" Clockwork Bunnies won't feature new levels, however some changes to bunny behaviour in very specifc cornercases + the new meta mechanic may mean new opportunities for babies! It will also feature some cool new visual polish!
"But at the end of the game, it said 'in a few weeks' for the new content, why take so long?" It's all on me (Lenophie), not the rest of Bunstack. I added this line in the last days leading up to release without really putting that much thought into it, but the sheer scope of what we have planned meant for us to take several months rather than a few weeks, however it will *really* be worth it ;)

I wanted to fix them in this update but they require quite the amount of work and focus while being less critical than some of the stuff fixed here! Once these will be fixed, we'll be able to bring all the QoL stuff you have been asking about (baby hint system, never-decreasing bunny counter, more accessibility settings, improved timer features, dedicated map button etc etc) We're also working on a Mac version, more on that soon!
