Basically, when we added the save/load dialogue with save slots, the quick-save feature using F5 and F6 was disabled. This update should re-activate the quick-save feature.
Checkpoints
Quick-save will create a checkpoint. Checkpoints work differently than using the save/load dialogue. The checkpoint will not be saved to a slot, rather it will overwrite the previous checkpoint. Every time you enter a new area, this checkpoint is over-written. F5 creates a new checkpoint, and overwrites the previous one. F6 will load the most recent checkpoint.
Save Slots
If you want to save the game at a specific spot, and be able to re-load that exact spot, then use the save/load dialogue, and assign a slot.
Updated to 0.9.8.4
A new version of Paradox Vector is up. This one fixes a couple issues and adds some new content.
Fixes:
Enemy explosions, parts and dust were getting messed up and disappearing at times, this should no longer happen.
New Stuff:
Robots and turrets now give a warning sound before they shoot. This should give players enough time to react to take them out, or to pull back and avoid getting shot.
Flying Squids, Crawlers and the big blob monsters will now make a scary noise on spotting the player.
More particle effects added for destroyed robots and turrets. They also make a short circuit sound after they've been destroyed.
Paradox Vector Updated to Version 0.9.8.3
The new explosion effects, including flying bits and dust, have been added to the game, along with some extra sparks that show up when you shoot your gun.

This was filmed before the additional gun spark effect was added. Here's a quick look at this newly added particle effect...
We have also set the colored fog option to be the default, as this seems to be the more popular look at this time. If you already have the game set to no fog, it should not activate it though. It will only activate the colored fog automatically for new players.
New Explosions
For #screenshotsaturday I have been adding new explosion effects, including the little red bits and the dust clouds in Paradox Vector. [previewyoutube="W5ta8maBHzk;full"]https://youtu.be/W5ta8maBHzk[/previewyoutube]
Promotional Art
We hope you are enjoying the new store page art for Paradox Vector. Here are some of the latest images...
Getting Ready for Launch
Paradox Vector is nearing completion, and we have been getting things ready for the final promotional push and launch. There is not specific date set for the full release yet, but something should be announced fairly soon.
In addition to updating the game's trailer (check out the new on if you haven't yet) some promotional images are being designed by our top artist. You may have noticed the new store page graphics, which are still being finalized. We are taking the approach of old vector graphics games from the early 1980s and producing more robust artwork that tells the story of the game. Here's a new image that attempt to capture some of the style of the game.
What do you think?
Media:
We plan to send out a press release once the release date is set and all the promotional material is finished. We are compiling a list of people who will be asked to review the game, but if you know of any journalists and other influencers, who might be interested, please feel free to tell them about Paradox Vector, or let us know who they are.
Follow Us:
The best way to reach new players is through word of mouth. If you haven't already, please follow our various social media pages and share, like or comment on our posts.

Play the Game:
It sounds silly to say this. A lot of you have played the game and offered valuable feedback throughout the Early Access period. However, there are a significant number of people who seem to be waiting till the full release to really delve into Paradox Vector. Also, perhaps some people played it when it was first released, but have not revisited it in a while.
With all the updates, new levels, new weapons, monsters and other things, it's really a different game now. If you haven't played in a while, please give Paradox Vector another try. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Also, this may be the last chance to find bugs and offer critical feedback before the launch, and that's what Early Access is all about!
Paradox Vector Price Change Imminent
We have submitted a price change to Valve, raising the price of Paradox Vector from $2.99 to $9.99. The price can now change at any moment. If you would like to take advantage of Early Access pricing, the best time is now.
Paradox Vector Updated to Version 0.9.8.1
*UPDATE: We were able to resolve the issue with raising the price. The new price of $9.99 has been submitted to Valve. It could go up at any moment.
A few small issues have been addressed:
New Game Warning
- the game will now warn players when they attempt to start a new game, that their most recent checkpoint will be overwritten. This will not be a problem, if players save their games manually. However, if a player was not in the habit of making manual saves, it's possible for them to lose progress if they start a new game by accident. This warning should prevent that from happening.
Level 14 (Factory Grounds) issue
- This level had a small issue that prevented the game from loading a checkpoint or saved game if the player died. Now it should load checkpoints and saved games as normal.
Price Change*
- As mentioned in the previous announcements, we will be submitting the request for a price change to Valve today. This may be your last chance to get Paradox Vector at the Early Access price.
Paradox Vector Updated to Version 0.9.8.0
We have fixed a couple small bugs and found a few others that will be addressed in the next few days. Some floor tiles were misplaced, some text was edited, minor stuff.
Alarm
One new feature is the alarm that goes off when you get a Paradox Triangle in one of the 9 Dungeons. Once you get the triangle, you will notice the background color will turn red, and an alarm will sound until you exit the dungeon. This is a net effect, but it should also serve to remind players that they have already found the triangle and are ready to exit the dungeon. Let us know what you think!
Note: This will not take effect if you load a saved game (from the previous version) at a point after the triangle was found, but before the dungeon was exited. It should work on any other dungeons you enter though.
Also, this is only going to occur in the first nine dungeons, not later in the caves or factory areas.
Price Change
We are again reminding you that the price for Paradox Vector will be going up to $9.99 around Monday, June 1st. If you'd like to take advantage of the Early Access price, now is the best time!
Bug or Feature?
One issue that came up during testing is that since adding the multiple save slots, somehow the warning when starting a new game is no longer showing up. This could be a problem, if a person was relying on the auto checkpoints to load games, rather than manually saving them. By clicking "Start Game" it will overwrite the previously saved checkpoint, and potentially lose a lot of progress. Of course, manually saving the game will prevent this sort of thing, but we are guessing some people might be upset if this happens.
So, we plan to bring back the warning message when starting a new game, if there is a previously saved checkpoint existing. But is that enough? Our initial idea is that offering manual saves, checkpoints, and a warning on starting a new game (that it will overwrite the checkpoint) should be enough to prevent unwanted loss of saved data. However, maybe a reminder to use the manual save when leaving the game, or something like that, would be appropriate. What do you think?
Paradox Vector Updated to Version 0.9.7.9
There are two major issues being addressed in this update.
Fullscreen Mode
The first involved the issue with full screen mode. We have added error logs that helped us narrow down the problem some players were having with using full screen mode. We believe this latest version should resolve those problems. If you continue to encounter problems getting the game to run in full screen mode, please let us know.
You can go to "C://users/-your username-/AppData/Local/Paradox Vector" and send the contents of the "Error.log" file to michael@schmidtworkshops.com.
Price Change
We are planning to change the price of the game to $9.99 prior to the upcoming full release. Paradox Vector is a much bigger, more complex and polished game than it was when it entered Early Access. We are hoping the new price better represents the quality of the game in its current state.
Still, if you are interested in getting it at this Early Access price, you still have time. We will be putting in the request for a price change on June 1st, so you have a few days to collect your $2.99 and buy this game!
