PlateUp!

1.1.2

Features

  • Mod support - Everyone knows the best presents are ones you make yourself, so the game now supports modding via Steam workshop. Head over to the workshop to check out a selection of exciting mods already created by some of our keen modders; from choosing your starting dish, to playing with more friends, to drawing your own kitchen, to swapping out your save files and getting a new card every day. Mod support is still in its early stages, but I'll be working on improving this over future patches - including adding more tools to make content creation (like adding your own dishes) as accessible as possible. But for now, head over and subscribe to some mods and enjoy playing the way you want to.
  • Adds turkey as a main dish, together with four new turkey-specific upgrades. Top off your turkeys with cranberry sauce and stuffing - and make sure you start the gravy in time!
  • Adds a new North Pole map. There's a lot to do, but with some helpful Conveyor deliveries and some handy elves you'll be able to automate your way through to the new year. This map is available on the Daily and Weekly board. If you've been enjoying the Autumn maps then don't worry - these have been left available as seeded maps so you can continue to enjoy cooking for the whole community.
  • Adds three new Christmas-themed hats and enables Christmas decorations, including 2 new wallpapers, fairy lights, Christmas tree and banner.
  • Adds two new Christmas music tracks, available on the North Pole setting

Balance

  • Flowers now have different spawn probabilities
  • Fixed a bug that would cause customers to stop ordering as many desserts when you had lots of choices
  • Fixed a bug that stopped card prioritisation from working (you should now see more cards specific to your current dish, for example)
  • Queue patience maximum decrease speed has been capped, to prevent situations where the game would be instantly lost after large rushes or Herd Mentality
  • Ordering station now applies its debuff correctly

Fixes

  • Broccoli cheese colours have been slightly adjusted
  • Fixed an edge case where players could get stuck in maps that had unreachable rooms
  • Fixed a text wrapping bug in franchise scrapping
  • Fixed a bug that would cause the game to incorrectly believe you needed more tables
  • Coffee cups can now be returned to the coffee machine if there is something on the coffee machine
  • Fixed a bug where seasonal decorations could be given as garage crafting rewards
  • Fixed a font error in some cards
  • Added some more colourblind support

Official PlateUp! Intermediate Guide

Hello chefs!

It's time to learn more about dish selection, research, automation, and much more with these Intermediate Tips & Tricks. Once again, a quick thank you to TheOntarioGardener for creating the accompanying video and helping with the article!

Let's get into the Guide! To begin with, picking a dish with a lower or higher customer count can affect the pace of your run.
Dishes like Stir Fry and Fish are more complicated because they're harder to automate. Still, they come with a customer reduction to make serving more manageable, and burgers are simple to automate, which is why they come with a customer increase.

Making sure to plan your day out based on your group count can be very beneficial. For example, it's easy to figure out approximately how much of a particular food item you'll need once you know portion counts so you know which appliances you need to keep close and which can be kept further away.

Different Table Types are helpful for different kinds of runs, and the size of your Groups can also make an impact.

Bar Tables & Simple Cloth tables are great for smaller group sizes. You can line Bar Tables up along your serving windows for separate dining. Simple Cloth Tables make your groups of 2 more patient.
Standard Tables, Metal Tables, & Fancy Cloth Tables are all combinable with the same table type for larger group sizes. Fancy Cloth Tables make your customers pay more so you can make more money. Metal Tables reduce customer patience, but they no longer require you to serve sides like mashed potatoes or broccoli.

Choosing a Theme that fits with the type of run you want to go for can have a significant impact on your run.
Affordable is about serving customers quickly, Charming makes your dining customers more patient, Formal makes your customers cleaner, and Exclusive makes your queue customers more patient.

Setting up more immediate-level automation systems can allow you more flexibility in the cards you take since you'll be ready for anything.

Be bold and play and learn with new appliances. The more you know, the better systems you'll be able to come up with.

If you want to learn more about Research and Automation, keep an eye out for our PlateUp! Advanced Guide is coming out soon!

Official PlateUp! Beginner Guide

Hello everyone!

With JingleJam happening and the winter holidays rapidly approaching, we know that there will be quite a few new players, and we wanted to make sure we helped support you through your first few hours with some tips, tricks and general advice!

A quick thank you to TheOntarioGardener for not only creating the accompanying video but also for providing some of the points below, with that out of the way, let's get straight into it!

We’ll help you learn how to work towards your first Franchise, starting with some basic tips & tricks!

To begin with, Steak is a great main start because it teaches you a lot about the basic cooking mechanics of the game; you'll see those throughout the rest of the game as you unlock other dishes.

Always serve your customers simultaneously; if they're sitting together, they like eating together!

The Bookings Desk will call in a customer early, be careful how much you use it, or the customers outside will get impatient!

Saving a blueprint in a blueprint cabinet will allow you to save it for later or even upgrade it; using the Research Desk upgrades any blueprint with the Upgradable tag, the Copy Desk duplicates a blueprint, and the Discount Desk cuts the cost of a blueprint in half.

Every 3 days, you can choose a new Card that affects your run, either a Food Card or a Customer Card.

Food Card runs are generally geared towards a lot of manual cooking but a lower customer count. Customer Count runs are better for automating as much of the process as possible and serving many customers as quickly as possible.

Sides are served with your Mains, and not every customer will order them; some Sides are easier to make than others.

Starters are served before the Main; tables will always order a Starter but not every customer will want one, so they can be stronger with larger group sizes.

Desserts are served after the Main tables will not always order Dessert, but if they do, then every customer will want one.

Blueprint Desks can be used to special order a specific blueprint to arrive in the next day's post.

Some of the basic upgrades that you can purchase can really help elevate your gameplay and get you closer to Day 15; appliances like Prep Stations are great for preparing for those later game days.

Choosing a Theme that fits in with your playstyle can also help you get further. Affordable and Exclusive are great for churning out customers quickly. Charming and Formal are better for larger groups of customers and serving a wider variety of foods.

Don't worry if It takes time and many failures before you finally succeed in Franchising; that's part of the roguelite charm! Don't get frustrated as you're learning; we've all been there.

When you do get your first Franchise, the card you choose will not take effect immediately but will be active in your Tier 1 Franchise run when you decide to continue the Franchise, so choose wisely!

If you want to learn more about Automation and Franchising, keep an eye out for our PlateUp! Intermediate Guide is coming out soon!

Nominate PlateUp! In the "Better With Friends" category

Hello, chefs!

It has been an amazing year so far for PlateUp!

It has been inspiring to see that so many people have been enjoying the game - and, better yet, have enjoyed playing it with friends!

This is why it would be perfect to be a nomination for the Steam 'Better With Friends' Award. We know that we will almost certainly face some very big and well-known games in this category, but it would be amazing if you, our wonderful community, could help pull this off!

What can you do to help?

We would love it if you nominated PlateUp! in the 'Better With Friends' category - but if you could encourage anyone you have been playing PlateUp! with or friends you have made in the PlateUp! community to do the same, it would be the icing on the cake for us!

Thank you for being such a wonderful and positive community!

Patch Notes 1.1.1 - Turkey Day Update

Features

- Autumn Event: It's the time of year for lots of food and lots of friends; in this month's event map, Autumn, you can keep out of the wind in your cosy restaurants with two twists: As your restaurant expands you'll automatically get larger and larger groups, so make sure you plan ahead and keep track of what you need. You'll also get the choice of two new dishes each time, including new mains!
- New music: The number of tracks has been doubled, with 5 new awesome tracks to play to! These are not seasonal and play in all maps. They're the work of the amazing Sam Gibbs (who also made all the other music).
- Hats: Show your love for turkeys by wearing one on your head! If that's too much for you, there's also a range of warm hats and scarves for you and your customers to wear. Also an egg.
- New wallpapers: A new set of thematic wallpapers have been added, from leaves to turkeys!
- New food: Turkey - Turkey makes a return from last year's Christmas
- New food: Nut Roast - Nut Roast also joins the fun again after a little break. Both these mains are available to unlock during gameplay on the new seasonal Autumn map
- New food: Affogato - Can't decide if you want coffee or ice cream? Then this is the dessert for you
- New food: Bread Board - Not sure what would go with plain toast on your menu? Try adding some bread as a starter
- New food: Roast Potato - Keep it simple with this side: you don't even need to peel the potato, you can leave it in its nice warm jacket
- New food: Broccoli Cheddar Soup - Another classic soup to serve your customers
- New food: Cherry Pie - A much requested dish for every menu
- Seed control: You can now choose whether seeds affect everything (like they do now) or only the layouts. This is available in the game's options menu. This means you can replay your favourite layouts and get different cards and blueprints every time
- Blueprints require pinging: You can now set the game to require you to ping blueprints on the ground to show you their info panel, to help avoid cluttering the screen for experienced players

Balance

- Dishwasher buff: The dishwasher now works faster (15s -> 10s) and is cheaper
- Extra lives: Extra lives now reset all patience bars when they trigger, giving you a full reset of everything

Fixes/Other

- You can now ping a blueprint cabinet during the day to see what's inside it
- You can now cycle forwards and backwards when selecting an outfit
- Discout desks will no longer work on cabinets with blueprints that only cost one (or zero) coins
- Daily and weekly seeds are now always the largest map size so there are two large Autumn maps available to play
- The franchise builder selection screen now wraps the card list when there are more than 10 cards available
- Fixed some more cases where customers could get stuck
- Fixed a bug with customer patience being lost when walking to a table which could cause a loss
- Colourblind labels are now sorted in the same order, so for things like ice cream it'll always be listed as CCV rather than CVC etc.
- Turkey now shows how many portions are left
- Nut roast now splits the last portion properly
- Steak extras are now labelled in colour blind mode
