UPDATE 0.87 - Yellow Grass Snakes Don't Spawn Until Level 5!

Hello all!

The biggest change in this update is that the yellow grass snakes that you can't kill with carrots in the middle of the field have been removed from the game until you reach level 5. If I get feedback on them, and enough people ask that they be removed from the game altogether, that is a possibility as well. For now though, we'll just introduce them starting once you hit level 5. I feel like this change will be a great way to help newer players avoid some frustrating deaths from those little yellow grass snakes and also give you a safe row in the middle of the field as well.

In this update, I fixed a small typo that would display your total carrot points as just 25 points if you actually score 153,575 total carrot points as I saw the issue in Classic Murdergarita's Poggers video uploaded on February 8th. The points were correctly given in the game, it just incorrectly displayed how many points you scored with the carrot as just 25 points.

The collisions with Poggers and the silver and gold nuggets has also been adjusted slightly to make collecting these a little easier than before.

That's just about it for update 0.87.

I still have plans to add additional levels and/or bonus levels to this game.. but with a full time job and raising my son and basically real life.. finding time to invest in coding has been a little bit of a struggle lately. In the meantime, I hope you all are enjoying playing as BunBun Poggers! =)



UPDATE 0.86 - A Few More Rocks, Minor Adjustments

Just a small update that adds a small handful more rocks to each level and higher chance for more rocks as you advance in level.

..With that, added checks when creating and placing the rocks on every level to be sure that there is always at least one clear path through the rocks from Poggers starting location to the river bank.

Other than that, made sure that the yellow grass snakes always appear behind any rocks they collide with.


REMEMBER THIS HELPFUL HINT:

You can press the 'R' key at any time to completely RESTART your game!
..Be warned however it is an immediate restart of your game without verifying it with you and your level will immediately go to level 1 and your score will be 0 again!

UPDATE 0.85 - New "How To Play" Window, Collision Boxes of Rocks Fixed!

A small update is 0.85, but it fixed a game breaking issue found by my good friend MBCcompany where if you paused the game while floating on a river log, you'd end up falling off the log and drown! Oh Nooo! That can't happen to Poggers! ..Bug found, squashed, and ridiculed for trying to mess with our dearest Bun-Bun!

This whole patch is pretty much dedicated to Mr MBCcompany who also suggested a "how-to" window with several pages and animations on each page, and while I didn't quite do the animations he suggested, I did make it much easier to read with lots of pretty pictures and less text! (I figured even if I made a super cool 10 page "how-to" with cool animations that someone would come along and say "WTF, I don't wanna click next page 10 times! Put it all on one page!")

MBC also found that some rock collisions would not allow Poggers to pass by a rock on the row directly under or directly over the rock. I believe I fixed these collision boxes while still allowing plenty of opportunity to break the rocks with the Super Bunny power-up.

As always, feel free to let me know if the issues I fixed today ended up causing other problems elsewhere or if you just find a completely new bug!

UPDATE 0.84 - Bug Fixes, New Stats Level Complete Screens!

Update 0.84 brings a few bug corrections to Poggers, the big one being a fix to the Super Bunny target cobra sometimes being well off screen when a family of snakes re-spawned. The family of cobras re-spawning is a completely new change recently made to Poggers to make sure that you always have more than enough butt to kick! Making sure you have plenty of snakes felt like a good change with all the Super Bunny time you might acquire with the silver and gold also recently added to the game.



Also in this update is all new level complete screens that give you more information than before, including how many cobras you killed on the past level, how many points they were worth.. as well as how many rocks you broke and how many points they added to your score.

A final stats screen will also give you the above stats but for your entire game and the final stat screen will also now give you an overall performance grade and tell you how well you did!

A lot of updates have been made to Poggers recently, and I genuinely feel it is a much better game now than it was just a week ago. The recent spike in purchases on Steam is the reason I gave this game some love during this Christmas week. I wanted to show my appreciation for all my recent customer support by giving something back in added value to this game so many people have been purchasing from me!

UPDATE 0.83 - There's SILVER & GOLD In 'Dem Rocks!

In update 0.83, silver and gold can be found in them rocks when you break them using your Super Bunny power-up obtained from eating a carrot, which carrots are obtained by getting your bun-bun home to a cave!



When you are lucky enough to find a gold nugget and collect it, it will add anywhere from 12 to 20 seconds to your Super Bunny counter, allowing you to kick some cobra butt! Hiyah!!



While finding a gold nugget is the real prize from busting up rocks as well as helping increase your maneuverability, silver nuggets have a greater chance of being discovered from a busted rock. Silver nuggets work the exact same way as gold nuggets, but give less extension to your Super Bunny time when collected.


Also in this update, the following changes have been made:

- Snakes will now re-spawn! If you destroy all of the same color of cobra on the field below the river, they will be completely regenerated and they will be faster than they spawned initially! Be wary!

- The Greenie water snake that you can use as a log in the river will now show a red outline if he is under water so far that you'll drown if you try and step on him.

- The code has been altered to allow getting the cobra "evasion" a little easier than ever before! ..Not only does this help you escape with your life, but gives you a nice little 500 bonus points as well every time you pull the evasion off! ..Don't get too greedy on trying those close calls though because those cobras are bound to get ya!


Here's a few information bits about today's new gold discovering update you might find useful:

- The maximum Super Bunny time is 40 seconds right now. If you find a chunk of gold or silver and still have a lot of Super Bunny time, you can save them for later use (on the same level).

- The gold and silver nuggets do not disappear after a certain period of time like other power-ups. Feel free to save them for when you need them.

- If you try and collect a silver or gold nugget when you don't have Super Bunny, you'll be reminded that you need to eat a carrot before collecting the nugget.

UPDATE 0.82 - Hard Rock Comes To Poggers! ..Lot of Rocks, Not Music! Oh My!

The challenge increases in Poggers with rocks that will block and interfere with your maneuverability in the cobra fields in this update just in time for the Christmas holiday!

At level one, you'll only see a handful of rocks of assorted sizes and strengths randomly placed about the field:


At level twenty however, you'll see that the number of rocks can create a real problem in a field that already presents lots of fast moving dangers:


But Poggers can fight back! The highly desirable carrots awarded for getting each bunny home to a cave give Poggers not only the power to avenge the deadly cobras, but now can also be used to break massive rocks into tiny little pieces! HIYAH! Flex them furry muscles Bun-Bun!


Some notes about this new content:

- Points for breaking rocks can accumulate quickly, so it's a nice bonus to the already attractive ability to clear up the field to allow freedom of movement!

- Some rocks are stronger on one side than other sides. Remember that you must collect a carrot and be in Super Bunny mode to have the strength needed to break the rocks! Press against one side of the rock to attempt to break it and if you notice it changing to a reddish color, you know you're on getting close to a rock break up! If pressing against one side of the rock doesn't work, try attacking it from another angle.

- If you have to leave a rock partially damaged due to the threat of cobras or because your Super Bunny power-up expires, it will stay damaged for a short time but slowly start regaining it's health from the life giving Earth underneath it.

- Be careful as sometimes the impact of a rocks explosion will knock your bunny backwards!

- Additional seconds have been added to both the Super Bunny and total time to deal with the rock obstacles.

- Destroying a rock rewards you both both points and time. Each rock destroyed will give you a couple of seconds back to your Super Bunny time as well as 3 seconds to your level timer.


OTHER CHANGES MADE IN THIS UPDATE:

- Various graphical tweaks have been made to improve the overall look and feel of the game:
..When Poggers drowns at the top side of the river or at the bottom side, the water will no longer bleed into the caves or onto the river banks at the bottom.
..The snakes on the river logs have now been separated to their own logs when there is more than one river cobra on a level, and these snakes have been given a random color shade each level.
- It should no longer be possible to jump into an already occupied cave to score a safe home bunny.
- Collisions with some of the snakes at the top side of the field have been corrected to prevent unintended deaths.

UPDATE 0.81 - Major Timer Updates Changes Everything! Ya Better Get Moving!!

This update is coming later than I has hoped, as it was intended to follow upright after update 0.80 which increased the movement speed of Bun-Bun Poggers significantly.

While update 0.80 increased the movement speed of Poggers and I reduced the Super Bunny timer and the time adds for collecting a golden T, I never thought about needing to reduce the total time on the timer initially. It didn't occur to me until I watched a Youtuber play the game and completely avoid killing snakes in a rush to just get all six rabbits home to the caves. This was never an intended option for the player because killing the snakes was designed to be a big part of this game.

In an effort to almost "require" players to kill cobras to have enough time to get all six rabbits home, the following changes have been made in this update:

- The Total time at the beginning of a level has been reduced about about 45% of what it used to be. (What used to be about 90 seconds at the start of a level on the timer is now about 50 seconds)

- The Total time given to you when you died has been adjusted to approximately 60 seconds but each rabbit you've already gotten home when you re-spawn will reduce this time given because you shouldn't need full time if you've already gotten one or more bunnies home. The more rabbits you've gotten home when you re-spawn, the less time you'll get when you re-spawn after a death.

- A message letting you know about killing 3 snakes to get more time will be displayed 100% of the time on the first level in situations where you completely avoid eating a carrot to get a bunny home or when you eat a carrot but avoid killing at least three cobras. After the first level, this message will be displayed only occasionally for the same situations.

- Moving a rabbit into a home cave position will reward you with an additional 5 seconds to the timer.

- Killing 6, 9, or 12 cobras with the same carrot "Super Bunny" power-up with reward the player with additional golden T's that can be collected to give you additional time on the timer.

- The river clock when green and collected has been reduced from a random 15 to 20 seconds to a random 10 to 15 seconds added to your timer.

- The river clock when red and collected has been reduced from a random 10 to 15 seconds to a random 5 to 10 seconds subtracted from your timer.

- The Super Bunny power-up gives you an additional 4 seconds to kill cobras for each carrot you eat. (Remember that carrots are awarded for moving a Poggers into a home cave position)

- When you collide with a snake and die, the snake you collided with will now flash for a couple of seconds to let you see which snake killed you.

- As before, it is still impossible to have more than 99 seconds on the timer at any time.


This update as with all updates on all of my games has been made in an attempt to add both challenge and fun to this game. Please feel free to let me know of any new bugs this update creates as well as how you feel about in general in the comments below!

Poggers Sells More Than 50 Copies In A Single Day!

I want to personally thank everyone who owns Poggers, a game that I launched last March, more than nine full months ago. Poggers has sold just over 130 copies since it first launched, and more than 50 of those purchases came just yesterday on the first day of the Steam winter sale with Poggers being on sale for 67% off and under a dollar!

This is a huge achievement for me as a solo indie developer who is trying to just stay afloat in an ocean of bills as a single father since last fall. I cannot say "thank you" enough and that I hope each and every one of you Poggers owners enjoys my adorable rabbit pouncing game!

New Maze Levels Coming To Spice Up The Gameplay in Poggers:



I also want you to know that I am hard at work on adding a new maze level to Poggers where wolves will track you down in a variety of labyrinths that will present more danger than ever for Bun-Bun Poggers! Thankfully he has four power carrots in each corner of these mazes to get revenge on the hungry wolves who hunt him, and eating every rabbit pellet will clear each maze.

Additionally, more levels to vary up the gameplay will come to Poggers, including a level where you'll need to save your baby bunnies who have wandered out away from the safety of the caves into the fields full of hungry predators! Bringing your baby rabbits back to the safety of your cave home will present an all new level of challenge!

All of this new content is on the way to Poggers and will be added at no additional cost! I don't have a timeline yet, but will make more announcements and likely a teaser video once I get closer to release of the all new content. Working a full time job and raising my son offers me plenty of real life challenge, but I do enjoy making these games so expect it all to launch in due time!

Update 0.80 - Poggers Moves 30% Faster!! Weeee!

I heard you loud and clear Breezy! When I watched your steams and video on your Youtube channel, I decided that Poggers was indeed "just too darn slow" for a rabbit! Poggers should now look and move much faster like you'd expect from a bunny rabbit!



In this update, adjustments were made to the movement speed of Poggers! He now moves 30% faster than before as a base increase and an additional 20% faster in "Super Bunny" mode!

This speed increase in movement speed should help players have more fun and also score higher scores than ever before! If you have a high score posted before this update, you might just want to boot up Poggers soon and see if you can increase your old high score now that Poggers much much faster, especially after he eats a carrot and is in "Super Bunny" mode and flashing gold and white!

Remember everyone, that vanquishing three snakes after eating a carrot gives you the golden T which will help you add more time to your timer at the top!

Additional changes in this 0.80 update:

- The new Super Bunny timer has been reduced by 20% because of the speed increases made to Poggers to make sure that plays aren't adding crazy amounts of like 102,400 per snake! (Remember that bunnies vanquished while in Super Bunny mode double the score with each successive snake destroyed.. it adds up fast!)

- A correction was made so that the "total cobras vanquished" counter in the bottom right of the game screen properly resets when you restart a new game.

- The yellow snakes found moving in the middle of the field have been redrawn.

- The size of the grass in the fields is now more randomized and taller than before.

UPDATE 0.77 - View High Scores From Welcome Screen Before Playing!

In this small update, I've added an option from the main welcome screen to view the Steam high scores without needing to play a game first.. to do so, simply press your ENTER key or click on the High scores box on the screen.

Also in this update, I've limited the Steam names to a maximum of 18 characters to prevent really long Steam names from bleeding into the high score, which looked very sloppy. Now only the first 18 characters of all Steam names on the high score list will be shown.
