With the next update: Open Betas on Steam are coming back!

[p][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/39820260/7e3b21177a9eca06534d4a7bd6761c5e1dac8901.jpg"][/p][p]Fellow Officers,[/p][p]We’re currently working hard on the next update, tentatively titled ‘The Quality-of-Life Update’. Whilst we’ll be sharing details about the exact content very soon, we’re excited to announce the return of Open Betas on Steam today – starting with the next update! 🎉[/p][p]Each Open Beta will launch up to two weeks before the planned release of the full update, allowing all of you to take an early look at the new content, improvements, and fixes. This way, we can collect your feedback much earlier to ensure we can incorporate as much as possible for the full release – allowing us to deliver smoother, more polished updates.[/p][p][/p]

Who will be able to join the Open Beta?

[p]Everyone who owns Police Simulator on Steam! Sadly, we won’t be able to perform any kind of beta on other platforms.[/p][p][/p]

Besides content, will there be any differences to the normal branch?

[p]Yes: Due to the version difference between the beta and the normal branches, crossplay between Steam & Xbox will not work when playing in the beta branch. However, general multiplayer between two Steam players who are both on the beta branch will continue to function.[/p][p]Please note that the beta branch is always subject to potential instability issues.[/p][p][/p]

How will I be able to join the Open Beta?

[p]We've made the process as easy as possible to include you, the community, early on during the development of the game. Once the next update enters Open Beta, you just need to perform the following steps to join:[/p]
  1. [p]Right-click on Police Simulator: Patrol Officers in your Steam library.[/p]
  2. [p]Select 'Properties' in the menu.[/p]
  3. [p]Select 'Betas' in the sidebar on the left.[/p]
  4. [p]Select 'Public Beta' in the drop-down menu and confirm your decision to switch to that branch.[/p]
  5. [p]An update should now start - you are now officially part of the Open Beta![/p]
[p]To switch back to the ‘normal’ version of the game, just repeat these steps again – but instead of selecting 'Public Beta', you just select 'None'. Easy.[/p][p][/p]

How will I be able to provide feedback?

[p]Everyone can test the beta extensively and provide feedback on its features, balancing, and bugs. Feel free to send us your impressions on Discord, in the Steam Beta forums and on our Socials.[/p][p][/p]

When will the next update launch?

[p]The Quality-of-Life Update is currently scheduled to be released in July! Obviously, the first Open Beta starts 1-2 weeks prior. Stay tuned for more details coming your way very soon :)[/p][p][/p][p]Your Police Simulator Team[/p][p][/p][p]Make sure to follow our socials to not miss anything:[/p][p]Discord TikTok X (Twitter) Instagram Facebook[/p]

Out Now: The Garage & Tools Update!

Fellow Officers,

It’s time to pimp your ride and customize the patrol cars to your needs: The Garage & Tools Update is now available across PC, PlayStation & Xbox!

Today’s update is centered around further personalization options while also including a bunch of necessary fixes, improvements, and additional free content. Let’s have a closer look at the details!

In Short: What’s included?

Not much time on your hand? No worries, if you want to dive in with no further ado, here’s a tl;dr:

  • 🎨 Customization Options: Lightbars, Spoilers, Rims, Bullbars, and Stickers
  • 🚨 Red & Blue Lights: Looks nice. Blue-white is still an option!
  • 📷 ALPR: This new tool can be equipped for all patrol cars and automatically scans license plates in front of you for violations concerning the respective car
  • 🇺🇸 Catpaw Skin Collection: New patrol car skins inspired by Las Vegas, New Hampshire, Florida, and Fairfax County
  • 🤝 Crossplay: Between PC & Xbox (and release on Xbox Game Pass!)
  • 🪲 Bug Fixes: From AI to CP Loss
  • 👥 Multiplayer Fixes: For a better time together
  • ⚙️ Gadget Swapping: Every gadget can now be equipped for every car (you must own the respective gadget via connected DLC)
  • • …and more!

Need a deep-dive? We got you covered:

Pimp Your Patrol

It’s time for a makeover. Inside the garage, there’s now a brand-new customization tab where you can choose between a total of 18 different free attachments which can be applied to all patrol cars – from the Panther Z to the CPV. Which attachments, you might ask? Rims, spoilers, bullbars, lightbars, and stickers! The spoilers also come in a variety of colors while the lightbars now consist of two different light settings, leading to a total of 30 options to customize your patrol cars!

Wait, did we just say… two lights? Next to the already available blue/white setting, you can now also choose a red/blue one! These are available for every single lightbar and can be adjusted, like all the other options, inside the garage.

In addition, owners of the Unmarked Pack can now choose to remove the lightbar altogether, even in combination with a ‘normal’ police livery. This way, you can finally drive a slicktop police car! You’re welcome, officers.

Gadgets Without Limits

Over the last few years, we’ve released a bunch of amazing patrol cars – and almost all of them came with a unique gadget to improve your life as a patrol officer. However, all gadgets were only usable with the car they were originally designed for. Now, you are able to attach every gadget to every patrol car – with zero limits.

Please note that you must own the gadget via the respective DLC to attach it to other cars.

This means that you can even have all gadgets enabled all at once, smoothly switching between them while on the ride. You’re at an accident site? Turn on the Matrix Sign or use the Winch to tow the car to a different area! Need to catch up to a fleeing car? Let’s grant yourself a boost with Launch Control and tackle them with the Snare Net… the choice is yours.

In addition, when activating the Matrix Sign at accident sites, the spotlights turn on for all patrol cars and greatly improve visibility – especially useful at night! You can now also choose between putting the Matrix Sign underneath the light bar on top of the car or behind the rear window.

A New Free Tool: Hello, ALPR!

The Brighton Police Department has always invested in further research and development to ensure its officers have steady access to the latest-and-greatest technology. Thanks to the new update, you are now able to equip the brand-new license plate scanner (ALPR) as an additional free gadget!

This gadget automatically scans and collects all available information about the license plates and the respective cars if they are ahead of the player in a direct line of sight, even if they are slightly to the left and right. You can easily check for potential registered violations and remarks, prompting a potential report and pull-over if proven to be necessary.

Bug Fixes & Other Improvements

With today's update, we're also fixing a bunch of issues while improving general performance and stability. One big focus of ours was the general multiplayer performance which we tackled across several areas. Get on patrol with a partner and let us know your feedback!

We plan to introduce further improvements in the near future with the next big update – more about that further down below.

Local Representation

We’re also pleased to introduce the Catpaw Skin Collection, a brand-new set of four beautiful liveries inspired by Las Vegas, New Hampshire, Florida, and Fairfax County – and created in close collaboration with ricobrzenska and Kittyraww who provided some great support!

These skins are now available for free for all patrol cars inside the garage! A good start already, but which region do you want to represent next?

Breaking Boundaries: Crossplay Is Here!

As officers of the Brighton Police Department, we always strive to bring people and communities closer together. Building bridges is important – across platforms.

With today’s update, we’re finally introducing full crossplay between PC & Xbox! Bring along a friend and start your next shift together 🤝

Even More Options!

[TRAILER]
You can’t get enough of customization? No worries: Just for you, we have also created a completely optional Vehicle Customization Pack that is now available as a paid DLC.

The Vehicle Customization Pack provides more than 30 additional parts and accessories so that you can personalize your department vehicles exactly how you like!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3597220/Police_Simulator_Patrol_Officers__Vehicle_Customization_Pack/

Alongside the completely free updates, we plan to launch some additional paid content this year to support the further development of the game. To reward our most loyal officers, we’ve created a Season Pass that will provide access to all of these DLC with a total discount of 37% in comparison to purchasing them individually. The Vehicle Customization Pack is, of course, also included!

Police Simulator 💚 Game Pass

We’re also happy to announce that, at the exact same time as the update, Police Simulator: Patrol Officers is now available on Xbox Game Pass across PC and Console! 💚

Subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Standard receive full access to the main game – the perfect opportunity to finally join the Brighton Police Department!

Say hello to all of our new recruits! 👋

What’s Next?

Just this week, we have started our work on the next big update, currently being labeled as the ‘Quality-of-Life Update’. In recent months, we held several polls within the community to better understand how we could improve the game across several aspects – from minor inconveniences to greater overhauls. Thank you so much for your participation!

Current contenders and high up on our list of changes we want to tackle are, for example, a comprehensive overhaul of the CP system to prevent issues like losing CP when aiming your service pistol at a carnapper before said suspect has entered the vehicle. Other improvements include radio chatter in the background for further immersion, making ELS lights brighter during the day, being able to tow larger trucks, and a more useful mini map that provides additional details. Please note that these are currently just a fraction of our list and work has only just begun – we’ll update you very soon about the planned scope.

Keep your feedback coming!

Please check out our Trello for further information.

The Garage & Tools Update Launches on May 20, 2025!

Fellow Officers,

Just last month, we revealed a few more details about the next update – and we’ve been thrilled by the feedback you shared. As we are currently working on the final touches and provide further polish around the edges, we can now finally reveal the official release date:

The Garage & Tools Update releases on May 20, 2025!

Today, we can also shed some light on the full scope of the update and it’s certainly one of our biggest yet. Let’s dive right into it!

Pimp Your Patrol

How do you make your patrol car even cooler? By truly making it your own!

Inside the garage, we’ve included a brand-new customization tab where you can now choose between a total of 18 different free attachments which can be applied to all patrol cars – from the Panther Z to the FPV. The Season Pass will also launch on May 20, 2025.

Here’s a first look at what will be included in the Season Pass – with details to be shared closer to the launch of each individual DLC:

Gadgets without Limits

Over the last few years, we’ve released a bunch of amazing patrol cars – and almost all of them came with a unique gadget to improve your life as a patrol officer. However, all gadgets were only usable with the car they were originally designed for. We believe, this should change.

Players will be able to check for potential registered violations and remarks, prompting a potential report and pull-over if proven to be necessary.

Bug Fixes & Other Improvements

Our team also put a high focus in fixing as many bugs as possible with this update – and will continue to do so until the official release on May 20. A huge thank you to our amazing group of community beta testers as they’ve continuously provided valuable feedback over the course of the last few months!

We are currently still verifying all fixed bugs and are actively investigating other issues. Please keep reporting all issues that you encounter – at best with a very detailed and reproducible description. The more extensive, the better! A full changelog will be provided alongside the update on May 20.

In one of the next updates, we intent to shake up the laws of Brighton a little bit: Our citizens have finally visited their dentist! They will no longer be carrying all their teeth around with them, instead they… well, it will be something else. Any guesses? In addition, we have recently asked the officers of the Brighton Police Department if they’d support the delegalization of ninja stars. An overwhelming majority has voted yes – causing this item to finally become illegal all over Brighton and the State of Franklin! Please look forward to more details very soon.

State of Development – How the next update is progressing

Fellow Officers,

We are currently hard at work on the next big update and so far, things are coming together quite smoothly as we continue to polish the new content and fix as many bugs as we can.

Today, we’re sharing a quick but comprehensive update about how development is progressing, what we have already finished working on, and some first footage right from our development builds! 👀

As we have previously announced, the next update is centered around enabling much greater customization for your patrol cars. We’ve created a modular system of attachments which can be interchanged and adjusted so that you can make your vehicle truly your own – and giving you way cooler customization options overall.

Let’s take a closer look!

New Cosmetic Options

With the next update you will be able to choose from a variety of different free cosmetics for your patrol cars, all thanks to the new customization tab in the garage. These brand-new cosmetics include rims, spoilers, bullbars, lightbars, and stickers! 🚔

An additional set of cosmetics will be made available via a small paid DLC, with details to be announced soon.

BTW: The new lightbars aren’t just there for show, they have also been upgraded…

Red & Blue Lights

They’re coming! For as long as we can think of, one of the most frequently requested additions has been the inclusion of red-and-blue lights for your ELS. You will now be able to select them as an optional color scheme – no worries, the old option is still there and ready to be chosen! 🚨

New free gadget: License Plate Scanner

The Brighton Police Department wants its officers to always have the latest-and-greatest technology available to them, right at their fingertips. The brand-new license plate scanner can be equipped to every patrol car and will assist you greatly in your next shift! 🙏

This gadget automatically scans and collects all available information about the license plates and the respective cars if they are ahead of the player in a direct line of sight. Players will be able to check for potential registered violations and remarks, prompting a potential report and pull-over if proven to be necessary.

We’re still working on this gadget which is why we can’t show it to you quite yet – but we will share more information closer to the release with you!

Swap your Gadgets!

Almost every patrol car we released also comes with a unique gadget to improve your life as a patrol officer. However, in the past, these gadgets were only usable with the car they were originally designed for.

This now changes with the new update: Right from the garage, you will be able to attach every gadget to every patrol car! Wanna use the winch on a CPV? No problem. Interested in boosting the Panther Z with some launch control? Easy as that! 💪

Please note that you must own the gadget via the respective DLC to attach it to other cars.

Bug fixes

As always, we’re also highly focused on fixing as many bugs as possible while also providing a set of improvements. The team is currently tackling dozens and dozens of different bugs while our QA – in parallel – is already verifying claimed fixes.

Just one example: A bunch of players has reported that when starting a multiplayer session with a friend, they are not able to see any shifts across the shift selection screen. We have found the underlying problem and resolved it. We also resolved problems with disappearing evidence markers, floating NPCs during the Wanted callout, graphical glitches, and much more.

As we’re still checking which bugs are confirmed to be fixed, we can’t provide a full list yet. This will happen closer to release.

Our experienced group of community beta testers has also been given early access to the development build, and they are already providing a lot of feedback towards the final version. A huge shoutout to all of them!

Wrapping it all up: Some final words

New cosmetics, red & blue lights, a new free gadget, swappable gadgets, lots of fixed bugs – we hope you’re excited for the update when it finally launches next month across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

There are still a bunch of welcome surprises and additions for the update yet to be revealed, and we can’t wait to share more details with you very soon! 😊

Stay tuned for that!

Please keep reporting issues that you encounter, the more detailed and reproducible the problems are the easier they are for us to address. Keep telling us what you would like to see in the game - your feedback and engagement are highly appreciated. Thank you!

Scheduled for the second quarter of the year, The Car Customization Update (not the final name) will allow for greater and extended personalization of your entire fleet.

A brand-new customization tab will be enabled within the garage, allowing you to better adjust the patrol cars to your liking! Currently, we plan to include options for modifying bull bars, spoilers, lightbars, and rims, as well as applying trunk stickers. The most popular additions will be available for free to everyone (before you ask: yes, this does include the option for red-and-blue lights!), while select additional ones will be available via a small paid DLC.

Additionally, you'll be able to customize the gadgets on each car. Want to see the winch on your UTV instead of just on the MPV? Now’s your chance to create the machine of your dreams for your next shift!

Please note: You must own the gadget via the respective patrol car DLC to use it on another patrol car.

Work on this update has only just begun and we will share more details with you in the near future! You have feedback, wishes, and suggestions here already? Put them into the comments! :)

And now, let's finally dive into today's patch notes:
